A decent place to get your BBQ overall. Living in Florida it is hard to find decent smoked BBQ and this restaurant is the most consistent we have found in the area. The brisket and the burnt ends are solid with a smoke ring and excellent outside seasoning. The pork was a bit off as it was a bit bland without any exterior smoke crust mixed in so was just more shredded pork flavor. The okra and potato casserole was very good as well, The only miss was the hand cut fries used to be hand cut with some skin and now is more of a prepackaged non handcut with like egg wash which I won't order again. The Texas toast wasn't grilled and more like buttered bread. Dickey's has an app which has great specials and the Big Yellow Cup which save you money. The main thing is the Ice Cream Machine they are known for is gone and that was a staple for all Dickey's - they should bring that back. read more

Ok, we are from Idaho and we spend two to three weeks annually at Madeira Beach. We stopped at this Dickey's location for our family to eat an early lunch before heading out for the Tampa airport. Idaho isn't known for it cuisine but if you want a steak and baked potato you're in luck. This place is the single worst food experience that I've EVER had in my life.... And I'm 56 years old. The cook was openly yelling at the owner demanding a raise because he "wasn't being paid enough to deal with this bull***t" and the the 'woman' employee had a bald head, a tank top and hairy armpits ... I ordered, it was 64.00 and I even tipped. No Diet Coke, no ice and my food was ready in a couple of minutes... why? It was cold, fatty and completely nauseating to look at let alone eat. The entire time we were there, the owner was yelling in an Asian language at the cook who looked like an unwashed pirate and his coworker the chick with the hairy pits. There was a dead possum in the parking lot that would have been safer and tastier to eat (with some Mrs. Dash). Quality of food has gone way downhill. Their signature side of jalapeño baked beans no longer Carey their brisket is dry. They need to go back to sliced beef. Their turkey is OK when they have it. They're usually out the Dickie chain used to be very good, but over the years has gone away downhill. They're very costly now. The food quality was great. I got pulled pork, green beans, and french fries. The sweet sauce was delicious and sweet tea was solid. But the biggest thing that stuck out to me(and the reason for 4 stars over 5) was the price versus how much you got. I ordered the 1-meat pulled pork meal and the amount of pork was pretty sad. Green bean amount was okay. French fries were enough. But the meal was $15(plus asking for tip, which is weird for a place where they just hand you the tray of food). I shared a two meat plate with salad and bake beans, chicken and brisket. The chicken had an excellent taste, a hint of smoke flavor. Very moist and tender perfectly cooked. My boyfriend loves BBQ, so I used Yelp to find nearby BBQ places. Yelp, you da real mvp always. We found Dickey's right down the street from us, and we went for a quick dinner. Dickey's is fast casual BBQ. They have daily deals that come with 2 sides and drink. You can also order 1, 2, or 3 meat plates, or order meats by the pound. The meats are pit-smoked daily on-site in their wood pit. The meats are responsibly-sourced, free-range, and free of anti-biotics. I had the Saturday special, which was a chopped beef brisket sandwich. For my sides, I got potato salad and baked potato casserole. I am a huge fan of brisket, and Dickey's is DELICIOUS! The meat is tender and soft, perfectly cooked and not dried out. The brisket isn't sauced, but they have three BBQ sauces available at the condiments bar: original, sweet, and spicy. I liked original the best; the sweet was very sweet, and the spicy was too spicy for my palette (but my boyfriend liked it). My boyfriend got a 1 meat plate of the pork ribs, with barbecue beans and fried okra for the sides. The meat fell right off the bone, and tasted great with and without the BBQ sauce. His plate also came with a bread roll. The sides were rather regular, nothing too notable to write about. Average potato salad and beans. The fried okra is made to order, and are served straight from the fryer. The tables inside were all clean, and there was always someone walking around the dining room tidying up. The staff was all very friendly and helpful, because I had a few questions about the menu. There are 2 tvs showing ESPN. The drinks are self serve from a soda fountain, and they have crushed ice (the best kind of ice)!! I liked the food and the price is very affordable. I was going to give Dickey's a solid 4-star, but on my way out, I noticed there was a soft serve ice cream machine and a tube of cake cones right next to it. But the menu did not list a price for ice cream. So I asked the cashier, and she said that the soft serve ice cream was free with your meal. The food was really good. We had the brisket and the pulled pork. The sides were really good, I was pleasantly surprised when they fried the onion rings and okra to order so they were very crispy. The server/ cashier Nikki gave the best customer service I have experienced in a long time here in St Pete. At first I thought it looked like a small portion, but it was definitely filling. Really good smoke profile. Brisket was lean, and perhaps a tad dry but the original BBQ sauce was the perfect add-on. I wasn't thrilled with the temperature of the meat. It seemed to be just room temperature. The meat was taken from what looked like a warming oven and perhaps warm is all it was. I read a few other reviews that mentioned this too so perhaps this is the norm for this place. I would've opted for a hotter temperature. As for the sides, they were just ok. The Mac-n-Cheese tasted like it was from a can. I wouldn't order them from here again. The beans were just ok. I've certainly had better elsewhere. Stopped in and got some of the best brisket I have ever eaten this side of West Texas. It was moist, succulent, and the hint of smoke was a blessing but not heavy enough to become a curse. Very few BBQ joints do brisket well - they should talk to this Dickey's and just learn. Their medium sides are huge - and a special call out to their fried okra - it's a simple dish that so many screw up but not these folks. It was Excellent!
