My boyfriend and i are from michigan and love some bbq.... obviously had to stop here. i am honestly a mac n cheese snob, most if not all bbq places have mid mac n cheese, but not here. excellent texture and taste, different style noodles which we loved. for meat we shared the combo of brisket and jerk chicken. brisket was excellent, chicken was fresh. we loved the yellow bbq sauce not sure what it's called ! also the owner was super nice and personable...would love to come back here next year!!! thanks chef!!! :) read more

Ordered, and picked up, rib dinners last weekend. The ribs were tasty but only tepid and dry by the time we got home. We ordered on line which turned out to be a mistake. It seems there is a communication problem between ordering and the restaurant receiving the orders. There was asmall fee for using a credit card which I understand, however when you use a credit card a 15% tip is automatically added. Why is a tip added for take out food ? You go up to the window to pick up your food in Styrofoam containers, not table service. All in, the ribs are tasty, even if not hot , but not sure it is worth the 1 hour travel time. read more

We just spent a week at St Pete Beach and Grillin N Chillin is right next to Rick's Reef and St Pete Beach Suites where we were staying. After a long day at the beach (we went down to Fort De Soto Park), we weren't ready to barbecue our own food outside, so I suggested I'd walk over to Grillin N Chillin. They have short hours and it's a take-out window, so there's no sit-down here. It's perfect to grab & take back to your room. The nice British couple staying next to us said, "Oh, you love your takeaway ..." Well ... I can't give 4 stars because we ordered the barbecue salad which was good, but only a small portion of brisket. Bruce + Jack got most. I ordered mac & cheese, which is an extreme rarity for me. Bruce got the baked beans which were dark with molasses and very good. So, it's soul food barbecue!! Highly recommended taste - and I get that a business has to make a profit but cup 'o meat wasn't quite enough for two of us. BBQ spring rolls/egg rolls were more like lumpia, and that was a good thing. read more

Just stopped by and got the brisket and rib combo with cole slaw and collard greens and I was very happy. The brisket was tender and juicy. The ribs were very well seasoned and tender. The sauces were a slam dunk. I loved the spicy bbq sauce and of course my favorite mustard based bbq sauce. The owner Jason definitely put his foot in all the food he cooks there. Honestly the food is good, but the service isn't and I don't see myself returning for this reason. Be careful ordering on the website, the prices aren't right and the descriptions of what's included are also incorrect. We ordered two meals with two sides, we did an online payment but when we went to pick up our food the owner told us we needed to pay more because the website didn't have updated prices....not cool. It also took them 15 minutes to figure this out while our food cooled down. Once we got home we also realized they didn't include the bread with either meals and we called to ask about it and the owner told me not to worry about it because it's "free"... Jay, if you read these, please do better. I would feel a lot differently if you handled the issue quickly, didn't charge us for your mistake, included the items listed in the meal description and didn't try blowing smoke up my bum when I called you out. read more

Great people Jay did a great job with his BBQ during the Thanksgiving eve for my wifes 70th Jerk chicken was fantastic great flavor and seasoning, the ribs smokey and tender and the smoke sausage tremendous. Sides of Mac and Cheese creamy cheesy. Bakedd beans hearty the only less than what I personally like was the collards needed mmore pork fat and even suggest all morsels of pork for that suprise bite. We went over to this cute little establishment after having a terrible meal next door at Rick's reef. The owner was very kind and very helpful. The food was delicious. We had brisket and ribs. The ribs were amazing the brisket was good. The beans have an interesting flavor to them we think maybe it's not Meg but still good. We will definitely be back. Some of the best BBQ I've ever had. That's brisket and jerk chicken in the platter. Jerk chicken was boneless, perfectly charred pieces of light and dark meat and the brisket had some lovely bark and absolutely no gristle! The pork was perfection. And the mustard sauce?!! Collards, baked beans and mac n cheese were good too. The baked beans had some underlying clover flavor and it wasn't overpowering just unexpected. We didn't mind it. Service was great! The gentleman (I believe maybe the owner) was super kind and got our food ready quickly. We got it all to go! And all 3 amazing .smoked ribs outstanding tender with just chew in them so you know are eating good ribs.good flavor without the sauce .sauce is just extra on well seasoned ribs . We were trying to figure out what to have for dinner and remembered that Grillin and Chillin had opened a shop on Gulf Boulevard. We got carry out from the window, but there are a few seats outside if you want to eat on site. The food is SO GOOD! Our jerk chicken was perfectly seasoned...a good kick, but not too much. Smoked sausage is very tasty. The baked beans are terrific! Delicious Baby backs are currently only available Saturday and Sunday. Mac & Cheese delicious! The portions are generous. We found this place by accident when the restaurant next door disappointed. What luck! The food was fabulous, I had the pulled pork and my husband had the brisket and both were delicious. Great barbecue flavor and loved the sauces that went with. The sides were great too, potato salad, baked beans, and mac and cheese all exceeded our expectations. Would highly recommend you get your dinner to go here and proceed to the beer and wine bar down the street to eat it. My family just moved to the area and has been looking for new go-to, quality places amidst the many touristy places in Treasure Island/St. Pete Beach. We're so glad we found this place tucked away in a little strip mall. The pulled pork and brisket were amazing! Now it could be a simple regional preference, of course, preferring as I do barky meats that taste like campfire. This is more of a tender, vaguely tasting of smoke kind of barbeque.
