We were leaving Sunset Beach and saw the smoker going so we decided to stop by. Friendly staff and great customer service overall. When we walked in we were immediately greeted and one of the young ladies asked us if it was our first time in. She then proceeded to explain the menu and let us know what they were out of. The owner was also walking around greeting customers and he spoke to us. After we placed our take out order, one of them offered to bring the food to our which was nice. We ordered the dark meat chicken dinner with mac and cheese and baked beans plus a few extra sides: french fries, collard greens, and potato salad. We also ordered the original banana pudding and strawberry crunch banana pudding. The chicken was delicious and the sauce was fantastic. I wish we could've bought a bottle of it to take home with us. The sides did not miss either. My favorite side was the baked beans and my husband loved the fries. I LOVE my baked beans with ground beef in them. The banana pudding was so so good and it was devoured immediately. Wish we would've bought two more lol. Note: The collard greens have smoked turkey in them not pork, so I appreciated that. Absolutely wonderful meal to close out our trip to the beach. Highly recommend stopping by, and I can't wait to visit Tarpon Springs again just to eat here. read more

When you step out of your car, you get the real bbq smell from the smoker - exactly what it should be. No menus except for what's printed on the tables, so you can take a picture with your phone, and you can go to the pictures on Yelp and click on the pictures there and expand them. I got the brisket and the ribs - both excellent - 5 stars for each of them. Everything else more like 3 stars or a little short of 3 stars. Mac and cheese, baked beans and collards, all apparently made in house. Cole slaw and potato salad didn't seem home-made, and if they were, just average. Not a fancy place - you would't take a date or go for a big-time experience. Interior very plain. Downscale neighborhood, but I felt safe. Wouldn't worry about that issue even after dark. With Smokey Bones closed (about a week ago), where to go for ribs? Da Spot was fine for Ribs and brisket, but there were too many weaknesses overall to give it more than a 3. For example, the mac and cheese came out in one big lump so you had to cut it into smaller pieces with a knife. And the brisket had large globs of pure soft fat - would have been so easy to have removed that in the kitchen. And the one waitress/cashier lady was nice enough but sort of amateurish - didn't understand what I'd ordered and should have offered somthing related to BBQ sauces - she never mentioned them, although the ribs came with a good BBQ sauce already on them. read more

This is an eclectic restaurant located just a couple blocks from the main Tarpon Springs shopping district. Food was above average. Huge appetizers. Smaller meat portion that had dirty rice. It was tasty. No ability to apply or adjust the sauce. And only one type as far as I could tell. Even when you order to eat there it comes in a Styrofoam box with plastic silverware. Bottomline is to come here for the good BBQ but don't expect much else. You order at an impromptu table that does have a menu. Then pay on the tablet. The lady brought the drinks out in their original containers. The rootbeer I ordered was semi-cold. Then brought entrees out in less than ten minutes. You toss your trash into an open garbage can next to the door. More people appear to order for takeout. The inside has almost zero ambiance. It looks like many shower curtains are hung on the walls. They were setting up for some kind of party that night. They have various other areas that weren't open. They had to walk down several corridors to show where the bathroom was located. Tip: after you're done there is a really cool place about a block across the Pinellas Trail called Architectural Salvage. I've been coming here for just a personal meal, but today I bought some takeout platters for my big family and everyone was so happy with the food. We got three full racks of ribs and a family platter of snow crabs and a bunch of sides. Everything was outstanding. My local friend suggested trying this place because it's all everybody on Tarpon Springs Facebook is talking about. Okay... I am not on FB but always game to check out a new spot. The place has a few tables for outside seating, but we plan to order take out for lunch to avoid them running out of food. We placed our order ahead of time, but when we arrived, they explained that they prepare everything fresh for us, so it was still a bit of a wait as they readied our order. The food is definitely worth the wait. The ribs are tender (though we suspect if we go for dinner it would be even better) and the sauce so good. For sides you must get the beans. I hate baked beans from a can but these little gems are so soft with a smoky sweetness to it. My friend loves her chicken too. This place is only open from Friday to Sunday, till around "sundown" or when they sold out. A few times we pass by on other days, our mouths start drooling and we wish so much they were open for more days!! Also note that this is a small spot with only two people working. It looked like it was mostly takeout which we didn't understand since the outdoor area was so nice! They had people waiting for food at all times while we were there. We felt very comfortable as they were accommodating of our large pup with their outdoor area. If you're looking for BBQ, it feels like a crime to NOT go here. This spot is nestled right behind the city center and by some of the breweries, but you can trace the smell of the BBQ from down the street and it is heavenly. The atmosphere is awesome and there's tons of outdoor seating after ordering at the window, perfect for a late afternoon, but there's also covers for shade during the day. Now to the food... I have travelled to Texas, Kansas City, and was born and raised in North Florida and this is some of the BEST BBQ I've ever had in my life. All the items have their own unique flavor to it and are cooked to perfection. My favorite part was the sides... the baked beans here are incredible with the perfect amount of smoke and sweet.
