Large sporting goods store. Some departments are well equipped, some are minimal. Pretty adequate selection of ladies clothing and men's clothing, although much of the clothing space is devoted to UGa apparel, (since it is located in Athens) . Lots of athletic shoes, but mostly from a few manufacturers. Clerks are helpful when you can find them. Prices comparable to other local sports stores. Lots of parking- there is a big lot. Easy to find in a busy shopping area off a major road (316) and near an exit (Oconee Connector exit) off the city perimeter. read more

Went to buy golf clubs and apparently now you can't demo clubs before buying. Ridiculous since golf iron sets pretty much start at $600. They wanted me to schedule and pay for a club fitting. Lost my business and I didn't appreciate the tone that since I didn't want a fitting I didnt know anything about golf... read more

They are discontinuing or limiting their hunting apparel and ammo at this location. I could not locate any shells for upcoming dove/goose season today, but they still had shotguns? They had clearance stickers with a sign stating the % discount for each color for accessories LESS THAN 4 FEET from the merchandise. This sign does not apply. There is no sign for the "lodge" section. This location has refused to honor posted advertising and pricing on multiple occasions. I have NOT experienced this at other locations. I'd recommend checking your receipt before leaving if you shop here. read more

This was the second time in the last month where I received exceptional customer service. My most recent experience was with the bicycle department where Chris was extremely helpful in repairing my bicycle for an important sprint triathlon. I also want to commend the manager, Mike with a lot of credit for following up with me on the day that Chris was not at work so I was able to get my bicycle back when promised and the service was excellent. Earlier in the month I contacted their corporate headquarters to rave about how outstanding their kayak department representatives were. This store is one of their best! read more

To be clear I have never and do not write reviews nor do I care about giving a bad/good one in general. I am absolutely sick and ticked off due to the overall lack of not only quality, but also the lack of try or will to do something a customer is in need of. (This is in all regards to the golf section of this particular store) there has been continuous inconsistency and consideration to me as a longtime customer when it comes to getting clubs put together and making repair I have constantly gone back and forth and back and forth again. Just because the staff in the golf section of the store literally cannot execute the job they were not only hired to do, but the job that they are SUPPOSED to do. Every single time I have ever had to deal with any of these people there is always some kind of excuse. Just to bring all this together in context. I have literally had club heads fly off shafts at courses because the due diligence wasn't done I have wasted my time and wasted my money trying to work with these people and give chances that ultimately shouldn't have been given even. Don't waste anytime or any money getting your clubs repaired or built here. Absolute dogshit craftsmanship and I mean this in the most respectful way I can. read more

Worst customer service ever!!! The manager who looked like a college student was a complete jerk. I had went there to exchange my daughter's shoes cause they had ripped on the bottom. She had not even had them 2 months. The girl at the register calls him over cause the receipt expired by a day. He says he can't do anything for us cause its Nike's problem now. Horrible manager skills. He should have at least tried to help us since it was one day expired or should have had his employees tell customers about the Nike stuff. Athens GA location. Stay clear of this location. As soon as you enter the entrance you are overwhelmed with the smell of incompetence. It only gets worse the further you travel. Play it smart and drive a few more miles to the local Academy Sports. Not as new and shiny of a location but a 100% better shopping and merchandise availability experience. read more

My experience here is that the employees at the cash registers are friendly (maybe because you have cash in hand?). Any where else in the store, I am sure that I am invisible. If an employee is actually seen, they avoid making any social contact. I've been to this store many times, and now I have finally learned that I will not ever get any help. read more

Today i came into this Dick's with the intention of buying an entire new set of golf clubs. Upon entering the finely preserved putting green area, i was told not to "scratch" the putters by an employee that lacked a majority of hair on the top of his head. Even though i was simply trying to use one of the new Odyssey putters to see its grip and accuracy, this employee victimized me due to my age. As a member of the UGA golf team i find this highly offensive for an employee to assume that a young man is not capable of handling a putter. I can promise you that this Dick's will no longer receive my business due to ageism. read more
