Hey Dicks, While not optimal, sometimes your customers and employee have to take a shit. Nature calls in the most inconvenient times. But, y'all know this. Unfortunately we had a very negative experience this morning at Dick's. I was administering a public access test for two US Veterans and their service dogs in training as their final step to become fully certified teams, which is a HUGE accomplishment for them. We barely got in the door and were immediately asked to leave. The employee who stopped us from entering was "Coach K" (he refused to give me his actual name). I politely explained to him that per Colorado State Law, service dogs in training were granted the same public access rights as working service dogs and I was happy to show the law on my phone. He indicated that he was aware of the law but that last week a group was in there training their dogs and one of the dogs was barking aggressively, so they decided to not allow dogs to train in the store. I informed him that that is in violation of the law and we were not training, we were testing. He said he didn't care and to take it up with corporate. After I clarified that he was really going to not allow us and our very well mannered dogs access to their store, he said we needed to leave and this was the last time he was going to say this, which implied to me that if I didn't leave he would call security or the police. Usually when we have these access issues it is due to ignorance of the law. Not just someone completely choosing to ignore the law because they feel like it. These were disabled veterans who worked hard with their dogs under the supervision of our non-profit service dog training organization for over a year and they deserve to be treated with respect and like any other customer when they are in public. I called the corporate office and filed a complaint about the store, so hopefully this issue gets resolved quickly as I plan to follow up. read more

My experience at Dick's Sporting Goods was the definition of customer service that goes beyond and achieves excellence. Today's encounter ensured Dick's will get a large portion of my future business. And it cost them 15 minutes of Dennis the Menace's time. I needed to replace the spikes in my golf shoes and had to find a matching replacement. Dennis the Menace took one out of the shoe I brought with me and we found a compatible replacement. He then proceeded to remove all the spikes on my shoe and put in the new ones. When I saw what he was doing I asked him if I could run to the car and get the other shoe. I left there with all my spikes replaced, the tool to do it myself (great training Dennis), a dozen Titleist Pro VI and a new loyalty. Oh, and the Veteran's discount was an added bonus. (BTW I was one over today in my round with new spikes and new golf balls! Thanks Dennis the Menace) read more

It's always been this way though - even before fitness equipment was priced at a premium prior to COVID. Good Bye Dicks, Hello Scheels! Went into the Chapel Hills Dicks today to exchange some Basketball shoes since the ones we purchased were slick on the floor and overall my younger son just didn't like. With 3 players in the family they all have different taste of court shoes. As you can imagine since we have 3 players in our family purchasing Basketball shoes is a big ordeal. We purchased 2 pair for the boys last week and I was in to purchase a pair for my daughter. This happens about every 4-5 months. I also coach my sons AAU team and my Daughters AAU team. We have always used this store as our go too for team supplies and my kids basketballs and gear. That changes today. After the clerk at the register "Anthony" decided to puff his chest out and with a grin decline any kind of a refund because they couldn't resale the shoes, my family and both teams can easily purchase gear elsewhere. He made it a point to call the shoe department up to the register and tell them he said no. He knowingly said this to pressure the shoe clerk without hearing what I had to say. When I started to pull up the app to call customer service he yelled from across the counter "I have it pulled up right here let me read the refund policy to you" then when the manager came he told him "we said no and I pulled up the refund policy right over there. Here is a quick lesson. Know your audience sir. Look at how much money is spent at your location. As I spoke with the manager on duty, I asked him to look around. There were two customers in the store......hmm I wonder why? I've been here since this location replaced the ice arena. I was born and raised here long before Dicks was around Colorado Springs. You want to fix a struggling store (20 years multi unit retail experience) identify your problem children and correct. So you saved an exchange, but lost future sales and suffer word of mouth. No wonder this place is hurting. read more

And the idiot who put the package together actually signed a card that says "We packed and shipped this order with great care". Lol. He signed his name and put the store location number, which helped me figure out who the idiot was responsible for the screw up and where he was from (this store). Total Fail. I was very puzzled as to why this DSG has cardboard boxes and empty metal clothing racks all over the store, which are very much blocking the paths of customers trying to shop. Several times I had to walk twenty feet out of the way to get around the clutter, which was not being used to stock at the time. Employees were friendly and helpful, but I don't understand the disarray of the store. read more

This is an excellent place that I have found all of my sporting goods needs. The sales people I have dealt with are very helpful. I was looking for a particular kind of hat and they sent me to another store where I found it (very Miracle on 34th street, "The store with the heart"). I also am very supportive of their discontinuation of sales of automatic and semi automatic guns. As a hunter myself my friends and I have always felt that no true hunter needs to riddle their game with bullets. If you are that bad of a shot, hit the range and practice more, I sure don't want to be hunting around you. read more

Wanted to get a new grip out on my driver because the one on there is worn. I called ahead and the employee I spoke with confirmed that if I came on in they could do this in just a few seconds. After driving across town, I walk into the golf section and am told that the only person that can do this is not here, but that I could come back tomorrow. Half an hour drive each way for nothing, won't be coming back to this particular store. read more

Went in today with $800 I wanted to spend on some camping and hiking gear. There was hardly anybody around. I stood at the counter for 15 minutes and nobody ever came by. So I went to the shoe department to look at hiking shoes and the only guy over there working was standing around on his phone. He never said a word to me, and I don't even think he noticed I was there. After wasting around 45 minutes I decided to leave. I went and spent my money at Bass Pro instead. I even closed my Dicks Credit Card account, they won't even let you use the card to order online. Done wasting my time there when there's better places to shop. read more

Visited the Chapel Hills store yesterday on 14 January 2019 to look for some long golf pants for my husband's birthday tomorrow. Was in the store for about 45 minutes going through all the long golf pants that were on the racks looking for my husband's size. During that time no one approached me to ask me if they could help me even though there was a guy helping a gentleman in the golf shoe section. He ignored me the whole time I was there. I then proceeded to the register to pay for the two pairs of long golf pants I bought. The cashier, Jeffrey acted like he was doing me a favor instead of a customer who had just spent $129.90 in their store. I told him that My husband was a member of their club and gave him our home phone but it was not registered under that number so I then gave him his cell phone number and it was under that number. I have never run into such a unfriendly cashier and I think your store needs to train your employees on being courteous and friendly to all your customers. read more

Way better than Sport Authority- Dick's is a one stop store for all kinds of sporting goods. Employees are somewhat knowledgable with each department but who's going to be asking for the top of line baseball bat and why it's top of the line!?! Prices are from fair to high. Bargain hunters should wait for sales or probably find a better price online. read more

I HATE checking out at Dicks. Service always takes forever and I often feel like I'm at WalMart(another store I avoid).

We came here to outfit our daughter with track shoes and track socks. They had everything we needed. We interacted with three sales personal and they were all helpful. In the future if we need anything we will check out Dicks Sporting Goods. read more

Not bad, but still a big box store where the employees spend more time walking around talking to each other than helping customers. And I agree the checkout process is ridiculous! I've tried to avoid Dick's altogether but occasionally I stop in for something I can't find elsewhere. I'm not sure how a chain that is so big can continue to be so mediocre, but Dick's obviously has nailed it. read more

Caught the after winter almost all gone season. Got 4 pr winter socks. Don't usually go to these places but this is way better than the closer Sports Authority for real outdoors gear. The checkout staff was MIA but it was the middle of the afternoon on a weekday. The guys working at the gun counter were too important to pay attention to the register I guess. read more

We came in pretty close to closing (which is not the best move in retail), and we made our trip very quick. Within ten minutes we picked everything we wanted and we were ready to check out. When we went to the front of the store, it was already 9:00. One of the cashiers was very nice and kindly suggested we go to the front of the door. Unfortunately, the other cashier, an older lady, rudely told us that the registers are closed. She seemed to be very angry and did not leave a good impression. Other than this experience, the employees had great attitudes and awesome customer service. read more

I asked the young man at the register if they had a certain Nike item in stock he said everything we have is on the floor and go speak to somebody in Nike. I later talked to a young lady in Nike and asked if they had this item in stock and she said if we had it it would be online.. not very happy here. read more
