i would give zero stars if i could. I live in Turlock, Ca. and wanted to buy a kayak but the closest store that had it in stock was a 109 miles away in Folsom, Ca. I called to verify if they had the Vibe Yellowfin 100 kayak and explained i would be driving to the store to pick it up. i wanted it asap for a fishing trip i had planned for 2 days from now. so i bought it online last night and drove the 109 miles today to the folsom store. i used their curbside pick up sevice that they provide. i then drove 109 miles back home. when i got home and unloaded the kayak i noticed the right foot peg was missing and the connecting hinge on the chair is broken as well. i called the Folsom store and spoke to a manager who told me he couldnt do anything to help me unless i drove all the way back up there. I dont know what he couldve done for me if i went back there that he couldnt do me here at home. so now i have a $700 kayak that i cannot use and will be missing the fishing trip in 2 days all because the staff who bring the merchandise out to the curbside pick up have no sense of quality control and obviously do not check to make sure that everything is there and that nothing is broken. i am blown away that not 1 but 2 quality control issues happened with my order. so im just going to return it to the store here in my town for a refund. unfortunately im still losing if you count the 218 miles i drove and the gas it took to drive there plus im not going to be able to make my fishing trip so all the gear and supplies i bought will not be used either. i have shopped and spent a lot of money at DSG over the years and because of this incident and the fact that i was given an item that is broken and missing key components and then had the manager pretty much tell me to get boned and not make things right i will never shop at another DSG again and will get as many people as i can to boycott them as well. there is no reason why the manager couldnt send me a replacement foot peg and chair when i know they have more Vibe kayaks there in the store. very sad customer support and shitty quality control and a manager who doesnt want to make right the wrongs his employees made on my purchase read more

If you're in the Sacramento area, this location is way to far from the center of Sacramento. I recommend going to the one in Elk Grove. Location: It takes about half an hour to get to this location from Sac State. The road there feels like it goes on forever. You can either exit on Folsom Blvd or try the East Bidwell Street. Regardless it's not easy to find right off the freeway. Staff: I walked in looking for some baseball gear. There was no employees around to help or reach out to ask if I needed help finding anything. I understand the store is huge but the fact that I can see other customers look lost or trying to find someone for help is disappointing. Overall, I wouldn't come back to this Dicks Sporting Goods. Distance is way to far and just terrible service. You can find me at the Elk Grove location and maybe even the new location being built closer to the I-5 freeway. read more

I was in dire need of a left handed soccer ball. I have never been let down by Dick once in my life, so I figured they could help me solve my issue. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by 5 employees and immediately assisted with my quest for a soccer ball. I was able to leave the store with ball in hand, along with a plethora of cooling towels. I would have gave it zero stars but one is the lowest I can input. For being a nation multimillion dollar sporting goods retail location you'd imagine a great experience. Upon walking in the store it seemed like a suitable sporting goods store with many product options. While walking around I came to the shoe department and not only was I shocked to see shoe boxes everywhere and trash all over the floor but missing products and features were no where to be seen. I thought they were going out of business. I would recommend the store manager does some evaluations of each dept. and some major cleaning. It would bring a lot more business and give customers a better shopping experience. Currently, this store does NOT live up to the powerhouse organization DICK'S Sporting Goods has become. The reason why I came here is because they offer steaming of gloves and was recommended by our team coach. The entry way is nice but the service... not very good. The cashier on the register are not that friendly they seem to want you to pay and leave. He knew I need the tags off the gloves I bought but he never made an effort to removed them. Wow. Horrible customer service. I really want to like and support our local Dick's but I will not spend a penny in the Folsom store. I waited at the gun counter for at least 15 minutes just to ask a question about binoculars. In spite of having two employees standing three feet from me (both chatting up the same customer) and having a manager walk up and start joking with one of the employees... not once did anyone greet me or ask if I could be helped. They completely ignored me. When I spoke to the manager he scoffed and rolled his eyes. I can't believe that man has a job. I bought my wife's bike online. We're not familiar with bikes and all and after assembling it, we saw it was too big for her because she couldn't even get herself on the seat. I return it and I was left with the bike for about 25 minutes because the cashier told me the manager had to look at it. The manager looked like she was in a bad mood when I first saw her. All in all, she would not give me anything but store credit because it was used. I told her that's impossible because she couldn't even get on the bike to ride it. She wouldn't budge so I took the store credit knowing that I was going to complain to the corporate. At the cashier, I expressed how unfair the manager's decision was in a nice way. She just gave me an ugly look and I knew she was having a bad day because whatever happened with the customer she work with right before me, it looked like a difficult one. I called corporate and they were apologetic that the manager didn't do her job correctly by giving me a full refund. I got my refund but will never shop at this branch ever again. read more

I really like Dicks as a chain but the Folsom store seems to be poorly managed. Often (based on six visits) the merchandise is messy and it's difficult to find someone to access a dressing room. With Sports Authority and Sports Chalet now in the dust, Dick's Sporting Goods is one of the last sporting goods superstores. The Internet must have really taken down sporting goods in general with many people buying yoga gear and soccer balls online or at specialty stores. Nevertheless, Dick's is plunging in to the action smack dab in the middle of Folsom on Blue Ravine and Bidwell. If you're used to large Dick's, this one is smaller and easier to handle. They have a large selection of sporting equipment, although you are paying for the convenience of stopping in for last minute items before the big game. Even with a smaller store, they have a wide selection of items and apparel. Unfortunately, they are a bit out of the way unless you live in the area. If you like Dick's, you will love this one! read more

Unbelievable!! Last-minute, nobody else had it in stock, had to have it today purchase. I hate this place! Absolutely horrible customer service! Nobody smiles. Nobody looks happy. Nobody seems to be interested but you're there... I could go on and on and on. There is one exception. A young man who was putting together equipment, dress like a farm boy, I didn't even know he worked there, actually asked me if I needed help and smiled. Went to Dick's Folsom 30 min before closing to buy a indoor soccer shoe for 8 year old. After looking at the displays found a shoe for $17.99 Store help said his scanner showed four pair in the store. After 15 min of looking in the stock and in the back the store help determined they did not have this shoe. The only reason I was coming back to this store was to return a pair of shoes that an employee at this location had recommended me to get to replace an older pair. The shoe was the opposite of my foot gate and the model I was replacing that made me get blisters and foot cramps. I was so unsatisfied with the customer service and department knowledge of the employee that I was going to take my business else where. The cashier, could tell I was upset. They paged the employee that was there that day to see if they could take care of me. It was a different person (thank you), I told him what had happened with my previous pair that I was returning. He asked what shoe was I currently running in? and what kinda of activities am I doing, and what kind of runner/walker am I? He said its a huge part of what shoe you get as certain models could harm your foot more than help. He asked me to walk to see what kind of gate I had and what shoe would benefit my foot. He brought me couple of different brands to try and gave me insight on each one. He made me a believer that there is great customer service and people who know what they are talking about in retail. She took time to even make sure I got credited points to my scorecard on the item I was keeping since I was not able to add number at checkout online. Yet another disappointing day at Dicks Sporting goods in Folsom. Every time I go there I wonder how they stay in business. This time we went to buy running shoes for my wife with my wife. Dicks has a Huge selection of shoes and I figure they take pride in their shoe sales. We started off looking for some new Asics on their huge shoe wall, found the shoes we wanted them started to try and figure out how to try them on. The store was empty as in all other cases and there was a young man working back there who went out of his way to allow us to communicate to him or make eye contact. We asked about the shoes and where to find them. He said they don't carry most of the shoes on the wall and the wall is just in place so we can go home and order them on line. I was amazed that he said that and asked why would I ever come into your store to buy shoes then? He said yep just go online and order them and left without offering any additional help. We went home and ordered the shoes from running warehouse. Sports authority was always packed and had the best customer service. How is it this place is still here? I give them credit, they have been in business 6 months longer than I expected. Cant wait to see what replaces them. read more

Not a huge selection and variety of items like Sports Authority had. Trying out skateboards and all the worker kept saying was, Bud, you can't ride those. I said, can we get some help? Both times he said it and as I asked he just kept walking. Most of the boards were on ground; just a mess, and no prices were on boards. I went here today with my kids just browsing around and seeing the summer sales. We found a lifejacket that was 50% off and some water socks. So I was a bit surprised when we went to the front check out and it rang up full price. The man helping us was named Matthew. He gave the worst customer service I have ever seen. He refused to do a price check just said no he knew he was right. Regardless if someone is asking for a price check it's their job to see it through. Then the water socks were ringing up full price so knowing that the would not helped me I walk to the other side of the store to find another employee and showed them that it was labeled 50% not ringing up that way. She told the front and they fixed it but then as we're leaving my family was telling me how they were mocking me and saying horrible things in front of them and other customers. Which makes me sick that my kids had to hear that. Worst experience we have had so far since moving here to folsom 3 months ago. I would recommend big 5 which is right up the street. read more

Please don't shop at this store! When I first got to the store I overheard a staff member on the phone telling someone that she was just reminded by the manager if she didn't find the keys she would lose her job. That should have been my first clue the manager was not a good person. Anyway, we bought a Field and Stream kayak. Took it out on the water and it started falling apart. Put it back together and tried to return it. The manager (with chew in his lip) looked me straight in the eyes and said looks fine to me. I said I put all the screws back in but I'm afraid it will happen again. He said well did you take a picture of it because nothing looks wrong to me? What? I asked him if I could just return it because it's been less than 60 days and he said no because he doesn't know if it's damaged. Again what? I just told him it's faulty why would you even be thinking about reselling it. He was so rude that I actually said to him his tone is really rude and that his customer service skills are bad. He said he didn't understand how I could think he had bad customer service. Right then my husband walked up and repeated what I said about the kayak falling apart.
