I decided to come here after attending an event in the area. Not one staff member offered any help. They were all too "busy". Cool They didn't have the shoe I originally came here for. I looked around a bit but didn't purchase anything. Funny but I was here a few months and it wasn't like this. Dick's Sporting Goods is a well-established chain and this particular location does a good job of representing the iconic brand. This particular location of Dick's Sporting Goods is located in nice wall with plenty of parking and an overall safe feeling. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional and this was an overall very positive experience. I have been a fan of Dick's Sporting Goods for a few years now. I seem to use them more around the holidays as a resource for gifts and every time around christmas, I have to wonder allowed why I don't come in here more when it's not gift giving season. All in all, I would definitely recommend this particular location of Dick's Sporting Goods. It is in a great shopping plaza with plenty of parking, the store is attractive and well stocked and the staff is friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I was in here yesterday to buy football cleats for my boys. I decided to head to Dick's because it is conveniently located and I figured they'd have a large selection to choose from. I was correct in my assumption. I found where the football cleats were relatively quickly. However, there were no employees in sight. I left my husband with the kids and searched all over the 1st floor for someone to assist us. Finally, I went to the checkout area and stood in line. There were two people in front of me. When I got to the register, I told the cashier I was unable to find anyone to help me. She quickly called someone and by the time I was back to the area, two employees were there talking to my husband. My kids were able to get a nice pair of cleats for a very affordable price. I signed up for Dick's emails to get 10% off, but the coupon is not valid until a week has passed from the date of the email. I will definitely go back because my kids play sports and Dick's has everything in one place that I'd need to buy for them. I just hope I don't have to hunt anyone down next time. read more

The "go to" place for outdoors including exercise, sports, fishing and hunting. I stopped by to check out their firearms collection even though I can't really buy anything here in Alabama as I'm flying home this week. The guns on sale were priced modestly, but they were rifles. No shutguns, no pistols. Ammunition was also reasonably priced and they had a full spectrum from 22 to .380 and .45 plus shotguns stuff. I browsed through the baseball and running stuff, even though I have zero interest in either. At no point was I accosted by any sales staff. If I'd needed help, I probably would have had to hunt someone down. read more

This place is huge and I guess that's why it's so hard to find any associates on the floor. I have a tendency to overlook what stores are calling online pick-up areas (my fault) and I refuse to stand in the regular checkout line to ask a question especially when those lines are long. So I walked towards the escalator and one young lady was coming down but unfortunately she directed me to the checkout area. After taking many steps around the lower level, I finally found the scanner and proceeded to enter my info as it would not scan the barcode from my phone. A young man appeared pretty quickly with my items. Nice store, just wish more associates were visible. read more

This place is enormous! Two floors of nearly everything sporting goods. Well spaced out so nothing feels cramped. Plenty of room to move around without bumping into things. Huge selection of athletic apparel for men, women, and children. All the brands you would expect such as Nike, Adidas, Under Armor, etc. Pretty large selection of shoes as well. Down stairs they have all the stuff for baseball, football, golf, and other team sports. When you go upstairs they have camping and outdoor gear. Fishing and hunting stuff as well as their clearance items. Friendly staff....Great inventory....Parking is never a problem....Prices are comparable with other places in the area.....all this together = must have shopping. A beautiful store with lots of great stuff and mediocre prices. I like this store, but really just the way it looks. It reminds me of bass pro shops and the way they pull you in. The employees are also nice and they have a fair selection. When it comes to prices, not exactly the cheapest place around. I have always been pretty loyal to academy because the prices are pretty fair. My first trip here to Dicks was a little shocking. The prices on clearance items are more like regular price at academy. I do admit they are a little bigger than academy so there is more to choose from. In conclusion, I think dicks isn't bad. But the prices can be a little steep. read more

Overpriced in this town of affordable stuff! This is only the second time I've come to Dick's. Since we don't have Dick's in Hawaii, checking this place out was a must! From the outside, Dick's looks like a high class Sport's Authority, and once you step inside, the place is HUGE! Sports shoes -- help yourself style, to sports attire, to bags, equipment and almost everything else you need or want, this Dick's was MASSIVE! So many choices, my head was THROBBING! They also had a pretty decent sized souvenir section, with a lot of Alabama memorabilia, including coffee cups, shirts, caps, bags, etc. And as you walk further into the store, this Dick's seemed to be GROWING! Conveniently located in the Patton Creek Shopping Center, just off of the John Hawkins Parkway, with plenty of free, ample parking. Plenty of time to explore this Dick's -- Open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays. The Customer Service was also on point! Although it's more of a help yourself style store, there are Employees available to assist you if you need something, and the ones who were there when I visited were very friendly and helpful! Must be the Southern Charm! The only thing I didn't like were the prices! This Dick's was expensive! Some stuff on sale, but a lot of stuff you could get cheaper elsewhere. They do have a club card (Score Card) too, which you can use for discounts, etc., even online -- and all free! I appreciate their rewards program which sends me tons of valuable coupons and $10.00 vouchers, once I reach spending thresholds, which are accepted as cash. There are never excuses as to why I can't utilize certain coupons or discounts. Last night I had to purchase a mouthpiece for my son for football. I had a voucher and a coupon and my $25-$30 purchase cost me $0 out of pocket. I now know what it must feel like to be an extreme couponer. They even offer discounts for various schools/ counties/districts when its time to purchase equipment for sports in line with the start of the season not upon completion to liquidate inventory. The selection of athletic and outdoor apparel, shoes and sporting equipment and camping equipment is unmatched. I've received great deals on shoes, cleats, camp supplies and clothing. Occasionally you'll find those super great deals. I found very nice Acics for my daughter for the next 2 sizes for $5.00 a pair which is roughly 10% of the original retail price. I've also found some good deals on ammo on occasion and frisbees for disc golf as well. Everything is well organized and maintained. Virtually all of my families athletic shoes come from this store. This is not a one stop shop for everything outdoors for me personally. If I need something for my mountain bike I go to the Mountain Bike people. If I need a firearm I go to the firearm people. Don't bother with Dick's Sporting Good's Reward Program. When I bought an elliptical in July the sales person was very insistent I sign up, and it only took about 5 to 10 minutes. I should have about $40 in rewards, I have been trying since July to use the points, I've called three times and sent in a chat message. Every time I'm told they'll need to talk to their supervisor, and I'm put on hold. After a few minutes they come back on the phone, and I told they have submitted a problem report and I will be contacted by e-mail. I have not received any follow up email by 21 Oct 2020. I suspect this run around is intentional to prevent customer from using their rewards, in a case of Bait-&-Switch!!! read more

This location is our mainstay for sports gear. It's a really big store, but surprisingly easy to find your way around. The departments are large and typically well-stocked, though we did have a hard time finding cleats for our adolescent son. Seems that soccer cleats in a size 5 1/5-7 are in short supply ANYWHERE. My main reason for holding a star hostage is that staff are VERY hard to find when wanting to try on clothes. If you play Football or Baseball this is your place. Other then that it's pretty hard to find other sports shoes in the Birmingham area. Dick's has plenty of equipment and friendly staff. Just about anything you can put an Auburn or Alabama logo on is sold here. I just wish they had more shoes. Tons of clothing for running and working out. It is also very clean and neat. You won't go wrong going here. It's your best bet to find what you need without driving all over the place. read more
