First time I've been to Dick's at this location. I wasn't greeted when I first walked in but that's okay because I knew what I wanted. I went upstairs to the fitness section to look for new gym duffle bags. When I was ready to check out, the line wasn't too long. For some reason, with 3-4 cashiers on a Thursday morning after 11 am, they are ridiculously slow at checking customers out. Not sure why it took so long, they only need to scan the barcodes, put them in a bag, and accept your payment. I don't recommend this location unless you have a lot of time to kill in the line. If you do go, be prepared to be waiting 10+ mins. read more

Very big store that is spacious, well-organized, well-stocked. Pricy but offer quality brands. I asked for help twice and the staffers were helpful and polite. I stood in line with about $350 worth of yoga clothes, gloves, water bottles, and goggles.... Waited as long as I possibly could. This line was not moving, 15 folks deep. 3 checkers only. I couldn't wait any longer so sadly I had to leave everything behind. I've been coming to this location for sporting goods since I was a kid (when it used to be GALYANS) and to this day I can always count on DICKS to have the sporting goods that I desire. They also have a climbing wall here that stretches two stories high. As a kid I loved climbing here and it's a great way to kill time if you're not in the mood to shop with whoever dragged you to the store. Jokes aside, DICKS always has a great selection and you can pretty much find anything sports related here. It does get very crowded at times and the check out lines have a tendency to build up. Aside from some messy aisles here and there, this place remains a go to spot for me and I highly recommend it. read more

Take your business elsewhere. This predatory business and unprofessional staff just solidified that I will NEVER shop here or another location. I left the clinic and came here to buy a bunch of tennis balls. Filled up an entire shopping cart and waited in a frustratingly long line just to be told that the tennis balls were "accidentally" priced wrong. Instead of $2.79 a can (normal price range) the stated price by the manager was $6.99 a can. I was in disbelief but overheard the lady next to me price matching half of her items so I pulled up target and Amazon prices. The same balls were even cheaper at target but apparently that means nothing. The manager was very unpleasant and treated me unfairly and I don't doubt that I'm the first or last. read more

I was at this dicks sporting goods yesterday because I needed to buy some baseballs for my little brothers baseball practice and I went with a few friends of mine we looked around and saw the weight lift equipment and we picked one up curled it set it down and there was one of those rubber man picking bag things and we punched it one seeing if it was any good and an employee told us too leave for and at first I thought maybe my friends did something stupid but they were right next to me the whole time we were there they didn't do anything so I walked away thinking that it couldn't have been me because I did absolutely nothing I walking to checkout with the baseballs and a different employee sees me and asks me if I was kicked out and I said "I don't think so I'm confused I'm just here to get baseballs" and then she told me to leave or they would have security called and not trying to cause a scene I left they refused to tell me what I did I don't know if there is a specific rule that says if you can't touch the weights or if the punching rubber man bad is off limits but there was no sign saying don't touch it or anything and we didn't make loud noise or anything or maybe it's because they thought we were someone else I don't know but found the baseballs for cheaper somewhere else so maybe it's a blessing in disguise I won't be going back that's for sure read more

My daughter was trying on swimsuits in this store and a security tag was not fastened properly causing her to be scraped by the pin along her side and arm. We did have to wait forever to try it on as well, there is a button you push for assistance that had to be pushed over 5 times. I notified the manager of the mistake with the security tag and provided him the sharp piece that cut my daughter and he took absolutely no action other then to give a very insincere apology. Just had a very disappointing experience at Dicks Sporting Goods in Lombard il. Ten weeks ago i bought a driver from their golf department. When golfing the head of the club broke off. I thought no problem,Dicks will replace it. I have the receipt but when i took it in to Dicks they refused to replace it snd told me i would have to get it fixed myself. This place is pretty awesome. There's plenty of parking and they really take care of you here. I've never come accross so many die hard sports enthusiasts in my life. It's like walking into a gym utopia. They have EVERYTHING a sports fanatic could dream of. I went in search of buying a bike for a gift. They were able to answer all the questions related to the best size, for tires and frames, the best type for street or trail riding. They had a large variety of any and everything sports related. The employees were friendly, helpful, and welcoming even during these crazy holiday and pandemic times. The clothing selection was huge and well stocked with lots of Nike, collegiate, and professional team gear. Great selection. But you most likely won't find snow pants there at this time, couldn't find a pair for my boyfriend until I figured to check the mannequin. Prices are high but that's to be expected here for example I bought a came back hydration backpack that I love, I paid about $55-60 for it but it's fair. The staff at the registers could be a lot more nicer, they always have an attitude and I found it ridiculous lol Good sports equipment store for general needs & some surprises as they have more than other stores. The staff is super helpful! The most clean and complete sports store in the area. There is something for every price point. I've been there a lot of times since the grand opening and the cleanliness and friendliness has been maintained. There hasn't been a thing I've been looking for that I haven't found here. Terrible customer service. I purchased an E35 treadmill 7/1. They sent out the company to build it and put it in place. Luis was the sales person and was great. Everything went downhill from there. I spoke with 2 different managers and even the gm to inform them that the company did not put it together the right way. I informed them that it was not usable and multiple screws were not put in. Each time they promised they would follow up to make sure it was fixed. I called a total of 6 times. To date no one has contacted me to come out and correct the issues so it has not been usable. I am shocked by their lack of follow up and lack of concern. I suggest going to a different company for your purchases. read more

I paid $432 for a kayak at Dicks. When went to use it, the drink bag zipper was broken. I took it back to see if they'd exchange. They didn't have anymore of that model of kayak and told me the store in Geneva had them, so I could drive out there. Called the Geneva store, they were unwilling to swap and said to call Pelican the maker of Kayak. So I spent $ 432 and now it's my problem to fix, wow, crummy customer service. Made an order for a pair of indoor cleats and a pair of outdoor cleats and paid extra for 2 day shipping. My indoor cleats got cancelled a few hours before they were supposed to arrive and they sent me the club version of the outdoor cleats. This fake pair of cleats is about $200 less than the version I ordered. After chatting for about 45 minutes (multiple holds) I got hung up on and had to start over with customer service. My visit was odd and disappointing. The first thing that made an impression was some sort of solar-powered security camera in the parking lot - a pole with cameras on top attached to a box at the bottom with a big solar panel. I'd never seen anything like it, and I wondered if it worked in the dark or had batteries. I walked to the store and there was a sheriff's deputy in full uniform who appeared to be working security outside the door. That plus the weird security camera thing in the parking lot made me wonder what happens here. Is it safe? Once inside, it was just another Dick's. Typical sporting goods store. While in the store, my stomach became upset (no fault of the store) and I needed a restroom. As far as I can tell, there is only one men's room and it is on the second floor. The first stall was occupied, so I opened the second stall. Worst abuse of a toilet I had ever seen. Disgusting, and I felt bad for whoever had to clean it. I walked around the store for a few minutes and waited for the other stall to become available, which was clean. I saw a store employee come out of the women's room, and I really feel bad that the workers have to share a bathroom with the public when there are people who deface the toilets so badly. When I left the store, the sheriff's officer was now standing inside the store. Why is a sheriff's deputy at the store instead of private security or the typical plain-clothes loss prevention people who usually work retail? The extra security gave me a weird vibe about this store, and the disgusting toilet tells me either no one cares or they don't have anyone to clean it. A disappointing weird experience. read more

Sporty spice, I am not... but I got guilted into participating in gift giving for the holidays this year and because my giftee is trying their hand at athleticism, Dicks seemed like the perfect place to go. Or at least it was convenient enough from where I already was + Nordstrom Rack had a super disappointing selection of discounted sport goods, so off to Dicks for (unfortunately) full-priced items I went. I think judging a store around the holidays is a little unfair, but I've had to come back here twice for my gift because I accidentally bought the wrong size the first time and had to come back, wait in the snake-ing line and to an exchange... which was actually pretty painless once you do get through the Six Flags-esque wait in line. For women's running gear, I've never seen anywhere with a better selection. Not even at stores dedicated entirely to running. I was able to find what I need with the help of a their staff (there was never any shortage of folks offering to help) and get out quicker than expected. I paid a premium for what I got, for sure, but it's worth noting that they offered a wide range of prices for running shoes so you could find something no matter your budget in that department. Work out clothing, on the other hand, was insane. Like, I could totally could have book round-trip tickets to Ft Lauderdale for what a f*cking fleece (that was on sale) cost me, but part of my goal in coming here was to get out as quickly as possible with a gift and I accomplished that... I did it a premium, but it's done and I don't have to think about gifts or sports for at least 365 more days. Priceless. read more

If you know me, or hell, just look at me, you will know that the only sports I typically partake in are the ones I can watch from my recliner and Lord knows a trip to Best Buy is more likely up my alley, but on this particular day, we were on a mission to find some Blackhawks gear for a gift and our path brought us to Dick's in Lombard. On a Friday night, when I would think staff at any retail store would be just about all out of energy and patience for people, we walked in to find some of the friendliest customer service staff members I have encountered in years! I JUST threw away the receipt, but I want to say it was Ron and manager Stacy?, working the counter and let me tell you that these folks are happy, enjoy their job and show they appreciate the customer! THANK YOU for bringing a smile to my face, guys! When you work retail, I realize that dealing with customers can be a pain in ass, but you guys certainly showed me that you have it under control at Dick's. Granted, you may pay a little more at a store like Dick's but you can pretty much always find what you need here. They often have sales and mail out coupons to help you save dough so you can spend it on your sports and fitness related hobbies and memberships. I was in a good mood when I arrived here so perhaps that's why I enjoyed my trip to Dick's so much but either way, keep doing what you do! I'll be back! read more

We purchased a NordicTrack treadmill from Dick's for Christmas and it didn't work at all. It was impossible to get any support from NT so we called Dick's. They immediately helped. Worked with the manager who offered to pick up the broken and deliver set up a new one at no cost. We received the new one and guess what! Didn't work (FYI... don't buy a Nordic Track!). Called again and Dicks is now picking up both bunk treadmills AND we're getting a peloton at no extra cost. Amazing!!! Really appreciate their responsiveness and service. read more

Bought my husband a bike there, good quality mountain bike that supports his heavier frame. The prices were decent and I appreciated that they had bikes in stock when many other stores were running short on supplies. I only wish they had encouraged my husband to mount a bike stand while he was picking up the bike. Their prices are higher than Wal-mart for similar items but they'll usually have stock when Walmart and Target runs out. read more

Horseshit lazy customer service. Don't buy anything from these " dicks ". I bought a bunch of golf stuff at this location. Not cheap. Then I go back a couple days later to exchange one shirt that was too small. I was there right at closing and this lady outside starts barking at 3 of us customers walking in that they're closed !!! I had tried 2 other times to return this shirt and they were closed then too. I was there like one minute after closing this time apparently. It was like 5 pm !!!! Who closes at 5 ?! Wtf. Anyway, I told them I had to leave town for a few days and I couldn't come back for a long time, and asked if they could just please exchange it. The manager and the lady couldn't pull the clothing racks in fast enough while they barked " no " " were closed " at me. I threw the shirt at them and told them they could just keep it then ! It's not a cheap shirt, and I wanted my exchange, but if that's what it cost me to never do business with these " dicks " again so be it. I've never spent that much money and been treated that way. Today I went here to purchase a tube for my hybrid bike. I approached an associate to help me find the right size. He said they were out of the one I needed. I then said that I had checked online and that they had it. He promised to check at their other locations. After what seemed like forever he excused himself while still checking on his phone their inventory. He went to the back and while he was gone I looked at the tubes and it took all but a few seconds that the right size was stacked in the back of the shelf. Not really a big deal. My son received gift cards to Dick's for his birthday and like most kids, that money was burning a hole in his pocket. We were helped by a young man named Cade who was knowledgeable and friendly. I rarely leave reviews but felt Cade needed a shout out for his excellent customer service! He quickly picked up on what I was thinking and what my son was thinking and offered different alternative products for him to purchase (that I would approve of) that were actually useful and steered him away from things he didn't really need. He took his time and didn't rush us or run off to help another customer. He is definitely an asset they should praise and keep! Give that kid a raise! I didn't give 5 stars bc I haven't always had the same experience with other employees (supervisor/mgr). I always say...it's not what you say but how you say it. I was overwhelmed with the quantity and quality of the products. However I could NOT find ANYBODY to help me! I walked around for a while and finally found an employee who said he would help me, but he couldn't because he was busy putting together another customer's bike. He asked, however, what I was looking for. I told him. Rollerblades. He called another employee for advice and/or assistance, but the guy on the other end was also busy AND he had no clue about rollerblades. Poor customer service, no one around when you need help. Uninterested staff walks around not eager to offer assistance (if you happen to see someone). Very low stock in some departments. Expensive apparel and sad looking sale section. Been to this location a few times. Recently came in looking for ice skates. Asked one associate where to find them. We found hockey skates right away. Ok selection. Better selection than figure skates which I circled entire 2nd floor 3 times to find only after finding someone who finally led me there. It was a joke! 4 skates to choose from! I repeat, 4 boxes different sizes. So much time wasted here. Could not wait to leave this store. Just an overall frustrating experience. Good to know I'm not the only one based on reviews. Walking out I noticed the massive line at checkout. They may have some better departments, but I'll give my business to a store that deserves it. Dick's does have the best selection around for sporting equipment, however, I can't say their service is all that great/consistent. I have been helped by many employees who were nice/knowledgable, but then I have been helped by those that are quite the opposite. Although I have never had anyone be rude to me, management should empower their employees to not treat customers around the store as a number/not answer questions and pass them off, or know simple little things about the business (i.e. if a gift card can be purchased online [a group of employees I asked actually did not know the answer to that question.]) I bring that up because during the holiday rush I should not have to wait in a line that takes 30-45 minutes to clear for a gift card. They should have a separate counter/kiosk where I can purchase a physical gift card. Product-wise, however, they really do have a great and diverse selection. Although I wish there were more sales, it is just common sense that many name brands now do charge an outrageous price for their sports gear. As long as you are a loyal customer at Dick's, they will give you rewards that you can use to redeem on purchases (which is nice if you are going to be buying something expensive.) But even with their rewards program, you have to spend TONS just to get rewarded. Too bad they don't reformat the program to make customers WANT to spend more. Also, considering this is a Chicagoland location, the lack of colors of sports teams' jerseys is disappointing. For example, they only have the red Hawks jerseys and no white whatsoever. Also, it's hard to find any away Bears jerseys, or Bulls jerseys in general. Overall, Dick's is a great sports store (and I would even say best around), but it can do better. read more

Walked in, no one was there to greet customers. I asked for an item and was not told properly where to locate the item. People waiting around for shoes, no one came. I stood waiting for more than twenties minutes before even seeing an employee. I asked two employees for help neither of them worked in the department and I was told they couldn't help but will go get help. I asked for another item and was told to go look over there with no help. Another employee was walking away as he was talking to me. No help at all. Return policy with no receipt is AWFUL. Tried to return a pair of pants, with tags, purchased 2 days prior. They're return policy is you get a fraction back. $55 Nike pants, got $4. Rationale was that "there's no proof someone actually bought it". If you are purchasing a gift here, I would highly discourage it. read more
