The checkout line can be long (it's a busy store), but there are usually several cashiers. The only thing to know ahead of time is parking. Because of the other nearby stores, parking can be hard to find. I recommend going earlier if you can. read more

I was there this afternoon to buy shoes. I went to check out and there was one clerk that was waiting on someone and two young ladies chatting behind the counter. When I walked up to them, they said the other person who was already tied up, would help me and they walked off. I'm disabled and can't stand for any length of time. As I was standing there for to 15 minutes waiting for the one woman to finish which was taking forever, someone else finally came up. She rang me up and bagged my shoes. She put my shoes in the bag with the lid off so they were falling out of the box. I was very irritated and not happy at all with the service. I did find the pair of Clark's shoes that I had found in their website on sale for $20 off. Other than that, I'm not sure if I'll ever shop there again. read more

This location has fantastic service. I needed to make a return because the design was faulty in the boots (the heels were basically disintegrating after a month) and the employees worked to make it right- offered store credit for boots that would basically just go to the trash. I'm going to have to let you in on a theory I have. Women in the Oak Brook area must have big feet. How do I know this? Was it some study I did in my spare time watching the Manolo's and Stuart Weitzman's go by? Nope. It's my theory about DSW Shoe Warehouses. Because as spacious and stocked this DSW is (and it is my favorite one in the Chicagoland area) unless you go often and find the "right day", any shoe over the size of 8 is gone. Oh, there are plenty of 5's, 6's,7's and 8's but need anything bigger, and you are liable to find yourself in a tug of war with some woman over 6'2' grabbing at the shoes as fast as she can. Not a pretty sight, let me assure you! Now I guess it just stands to reason as the houses are bigger out there, the yards are bigger, the stores are bigger, the offices are bigger, that women's feet would be bigger too. Hmmm . . . . think of the possibilities! Anyway, I digress. But if you find the right day (my theory is Tuesdays are best) you can find some amazing designer and non designer shoes at DSW at a fraction of the full price. But trust me- everyone knows that this place has the best selection as it is always packed. So if you've got some dainty feet- head out any day and you will be in luck. As for me- next time you are out at this DSW- take a look around -as I will probably be the one in the grabbing match for some cute ballet flats with a woman who looks like she plays beach volleyball. read more

Came here for some snow boots, because who buys those BEFORE the blizzard hits? Not this girl! I wanted a pair of Sorel's. They only had one pair of those and they were not the ones I wanted. I noticed they had a huge selection of clearance footwear in the back so I made my way to see if I could find a great deal. Man did I ever. I found a pair of Totes snow boots regular $50 got those for $30, some Khombu slip on comfy shoes regularly $50 got them for $15, New Balance tennis shoes regularly $70 got those for $35 and last but not least my finest find a pair of super cute Tommy Hilfiger heeled ankle boots regularly $75 and got them for $37.50........ BAM! Couldn't find anything for the boyfriend though. Not a big selection. Clearance for men is kind of a joke and not a really big selection or regular priced shoes either. He's kind of obsessed with shoes. I have to tell him no so often or we would have to rent a separate apartment just for his shoe collection alone. He didn't find anything that he loved and left empty handed. The girls working up front were friendly, some more than others. I was pleased for the most part with my experience here. Mostly I was pleased with the receipt. Wish they had more Sorel's and more for men. So I bought a pair of heels and a clutch online for about $37 because I had promo codes that gave me $25 off and free shipping. I decided to return the heels because I had absolutely nothing to wear with it and when I decided to return it the cashier wasn't sure as to how to divide up the $25 promo code so she took it off my $40 heels, which meant I only got back $17 (including tax)! However, she said if I wanted to I could use the $25 off promo code again if I decided to purchase something from the store the same day! I was a bit rush because I was their with a friend, but I found a pair of Adrienne Vitta grey peep toe pumps for 40% off plus my $25 off plus another coupon I had for $5 off... so I only paid $7 for the pumps. In the end I only got $10 back, but it meant that I technically spent about $27 for a pair of peep toe pumps and clutch. NOW that is a steal! P.s. I have to take the time to give a proper round of applause to KRIS. Now I typically have good experiences at this location; however KRIS made it exceptionally pleasant. I had a double-order pick up. Where there was confusion with in placing and charging 2x for the shoes I had already paid for, you know what, accidents happen and KRIS made it alllll better. She does exactly what a CSR (customer service representative) is supposed to do. Grow up, my play pen, developed administrative skills before I could speak. This is a beautiful DSW! I decided to check it out after having a shoe-related conversation with Angela P and she let me know that DSW might have what I'm looking for. I went in after work yesterday and was greeted by a fellow shoe-lover/employee as soon as I walked in. Since I just wanted to browse, I declined the assistance. The store is organized by type of shoe. For women, it's casual, sandals, dress, flats, etc. Near the back of the store is the clearance section. They had a sale going on where each tag had a different color and was 30-70% off depending on the color. I only found one pair of shoes in my size that were 70% off and the majority were 30-40%. I did find one pair I liked but didn't "need" I also fell in love with a pair of black and white striped flats. They would have been about $20. However, when I tried them on I couldn't even get them on my feet. Turns out they were the wrong size (two sizes too small) and just put in a different box. I liked them so much, I considered chopping off my toes just to wear them. I like that DSW has a huge selection that's always changing. They also offer socks, accessories and purses if you're all shoe-d out--although, I'm really not sure that's possible. read more

I visited this DSW in search of fashionable sandals and functional Keds. It's mid-July, but the sandals are already picked over in both style and size. I did find a cute pair of ivory Keds with a gray design that I loved. However, the next day I found the exact pair at Famous Footwear for $15 less, so I returned the pair I bought at DSW. My friend bought a pair of Kelly & Katie ballet flats for $20 in the clearance section and a Jessica Simpson crossbody bag. The Oak Brook store has a posh variety of handbags; Calvin Klein, Betsy Johnson, Steve Madden, Ralph Lauren, Cole Haan - yep, the gang's all here. Statement clutches run about $30, with the more sturdy, practical handbags at an indulgent $200+. Unlike other locations, there were no employees roaming the sales floor and nagging us. When I visited the store again to return the Keds, I was met with the same laid-back approach. With this DSW being such a high traffic area, I wasn't surprised that it isn't my favorite DSW, but it certainly isn't the worst either. I could eat the shoes here. They're that good. Seriously, I'm tempted to change this category to specialty foods. When I'm not eating the shoes here, I'm wearing them. And man, I almost prefer wearing them. I'm a shoe flataholic and I'm content at standing 5'2 through all occasions in life. No height necessary and I'll be your best friend during a fire when you have to crouch down to my level. DSW serves all my flat needs quite stylishly and also quite pricey. I'll take what I can get and check my price complaints at the door. The clearance section is like a mirage. In a store of expensive shoes, the lure of clearance is undeniable. But, remember, clearance at DSW is upwards of $50.00 from what I came across at my last visit. Shiny purple shoes, you were only a dream. This is just a note and does not reflect stars earned--just remember I warned you about the parking lot. If you're less than 3 miles away, I'd suggest walking. You'll save yourself at least 10 year's worth of stress. You can strut back on the way home in your new shoes. read more

I like DSW for the huge selection, but unfortunately I couldn't find what I was looking for. The clearance prices are great; and you're not just picking through 20 year old styles that are beat up and ugly- there's plenty of current styles there too. I don't believe that the men's shoes are marked down to the extent that women's shoes are- women seem to find some great bargains here, but my personal experience in the men's department is that their prices aren't much better than other stores. They've recently revamped their shoppers rewards program. They swipe your card when you purchase shoes or accessories and you earn points toward gift certificates. From what I understand, you can earn rewards much more quickly than under their previous system. read more

Despite the din of tons of thunderous hooves in search of the perfect shoes to make a Turkey Day fashion statement, they have done it again. Yep, DSW came through with the red suede heels I was hoping for. I can't think of a time when they have failed me. I can almost forgive them for finding those throw away sockies you're supposed to use when checking out the shoes all over the place. I never comment unless I feel very strongly. I'll try to be constructive but it'll be hard... The new arrangement of merchandise at DSW has created a store that has become a mess. Boxes half closed, in the wrong places, thrown on a bench. Shoes displayed sloppily on three inconvenient levels and lousy lighting. Purse department used to be great, now it's stuck in a back corner with little or no thought given to providing an attractive display and half as much inventory to choose from. Shoe boxes are stacked high so that you feel as if you're in little tunnels. You can't see where you want to go next ; you're forced to wander or worse, search. I spend less than half as much time in DSW as I used to. I used to love to shop here. Now it's no fun. I guess that corporate made the changes in order to get more inventory into the space. HOW MUCH DO WE NEED? It was pretty epic before. Am I the only one who feels this way? I'm sorry but I won't be back. read more

Dsw rocks!!! I am so into shoes it's not even funny. Who can't love a sexy pair of oxfords? Dsw has a great selection, and I can find things in my size that look great in my big feet (size13) Dsw also has a cool rewards program with rewards being offered on your birthday, and for so many dollars being spent. Well worth it. I really appreciate that DSW keeps things organized. I hate walking into some shoe stores and feeling like I'm in a bargain basement, and the whole store is torn apart. I hate clutter. First, the way they reconfigured this store is awful!! Takes me 10x longer to scan what I'm looking for!! Then I had to wait an additional 30 minutes in a line on a Wednesday afternoon ridiculous. For that line I would rather go to Nordstrom rack and at least get a better value and a better selection. Mostly I do believe they will lose customers because of the way they reconfigured the space because people will not be able to find what they're looking for. read more

I'm a quick shopper, I don't like to spend too much time hunting for the "best" price, or fighting crowds, so I tend to go to specialty stores rather than department stores. If I need dress shoes, I go to DSW as they have a nice selection of men's dress designer names at 1/2 the cost of a department store. read more

You need shoes, and here you can buy three pairs instead of the mere single pair you really need. It's a free-for-all, but the prices are outstanding and the styles are pretty varied. They've got some card program, but I lost mine a while ago, so I can't vouch for it. Not for those easily affected by option paralysis. I prefer the Naperville store on Route 59 - Oak Brook is so crowded and it's much harder to find a parking space. I find this location is often trashed. Ok ladies, repeat after me: 'SLOWLY put both shoes back in the box, CAREFULLY replace the lid, put the box back where you found it. And smile and say please, thank you, and excuse me.' I'm a big fan of DSW. I love shoes and DSW has such a big selection for great prices. It's my go-to when I'm in a crunch and need shoes to go with a particular outfit. For example, I needed shoes to go with a dress I bought for a wedding. They had to be beige shoes. I don't have heels to begin with because I hate wearing them, so naturally, I didn't have shoes to fit the bill, and my Converse selection apparently isn't wedding appropriate. Sheesh. So off to DSW I went. They don't always have the size I need, unfortunately. Luckily, I found a great pair of low-wedge shoes for a great price. Do yourself a favor and sign up for the rewards. I get coupons mailed to me after I make a purchase for $10 off. And unlike other places, the coupon is good til January! That's a long time! I also get a $10 off coupon for my birthday. Another great thing is that you can combine offers. I used my two coupons when I bought my shoes, making the purchase of heels I won't wear that often more of an acceptable purchase. They have everything from boots, heels, gym shoes, flats, etc. I came here a few weeks ago looking for running shoes. They did have some, but not a ton. They have a mix of athletic shoes like trail, all-purpose, running, and walking, but if you need a big range of something super specific like running or court shoes, go to a Sports Authority so you have a lot to choose from. But for all my other shoe needs, DSW is usually my first and last stop. read more

This location is often messy and some employees are not very friendly. It really depends what time of the day you go. I've been here at opening time and closer to closing, and that's when the staff is not friendly at all. I hate the parking lot - it's a giant maze and hard to get out of - and the best part of the store, which is the clearance area, is kind of set up weird and if there is more than one person in that specific aisle, it's difficult to browse, much less try on shoes. I like the selection, though I wish they carried more wide widths. They have pretty much any color or style you might be looking for otherwise. Boots - lots and lots of boots, makes me happy. And you can serve yourself, which is nice - I avoid other shoe stores and department store shoe departments because of the time wasted waiting for someone to bring me out the 7.5s for all the red platforms that they might have. That parking lot issue is a big one, though, and I would go here more if it wasn't so annoying to park at this location. read more

4 stars for shoe, boot, etc selection. 1 star for the condition of their parking lot in winter. We spent about an hour and a half here and nothing worked out for my husband or I. But we aren't shoe people, we get what we need and leave fast. I mainly came for rain boots and most of the choices were oddly fitting or too tall for my wider calves. I ended up ordering on Amazon and finding what I need (Slogger's Made in USA brand, it fits). My husband searched for gym shoes and tried on many, many pairs, nothing worked out. I then tried on some sandals and it was hit or miss. We looked through clearance and I found something nice but even on clearance it was $95 and I didn't come for that, I can for rain boots. You'll probably have better luck than I did. PARKING: Management here needs to get this problem solved. There was snow covering maybe 10 parking spots and it could have easily been heaped into two to free up eight spots. But instead of doing that, they made people fight for the remaining (if any) parking spots). Our blood pressure was rising, so my husband decided to park at the far, far end of World Market and walk back. Snow or not, I am sure this parking lot is a disaster most of the year given the other reviews. I saw people parking in spots that were not spots at all! Best. DSW. EVER! I bought these super-cute shoes almost three months ago, wore them three times, and saw that they were starting to fall apart... very atypical of what one would normally find at a DSW. I was terrified about losing $95 on a pair of shabby-quality shoes because I had waited longer than the allotted 60 days to bring them back (I also waited longer than 60 days to wear them but whatever). Daisy was so nice behind the counter, though, and took them back without batting an eye. She asked me if I wanted to take a look around and because of her suggestion, I found a pair of shoes that were just as cute but way more comfy and for half the price of the original shoes that fell apart on me. While I was trying them on and walking around, Yolanda made some great smalltalk and was super personable. She even gave me a free shoe horn! Like who even DOES that?! And it wasn't even in her pocket or anything- like she went all the way across the store to get me a giant two-sided shoehorn. Daisy was patient; kind; considerate; and made my worries about going in past the established allotment of time allowed for returns, disappear. And Yolanda gave me presents. And who doesn't like presents? But that's not all: as I was leaving the store, a chap named Robert held the door open for my dad and me and walked us to the parking lot in -20 degree weather (he was on his way home for the night but I'm going to ignore that and pretend that he wanted to treat me like a princess), making sure he told us how grateful he was for our business during this arctic chill and inviting us to come back.
