This store at this location has been replaced with a bowling alley. It was a nice store but smaller than the one in the Oxford mall. I was shocked to see it gone. read more

When we're in need of anything sports-related, Dick's is the first place we head. It's close to home and they're pretty reliable. The staff is always friendly and often helpful. Often because I recently went in looking for hammock straps and the associate didn't know where they were and asked someone else who also didn't know where they were. During our trip up and down many aisles no one know where they were. Finally, giving up hope of finding them, I went ONE aisle over and *ka-blam* there they were. You know those folding chairs that fit in a nylon bag that pinch your fingers when you fold them if you're not careful? I tend to beat them up pretty good. I buy a new one once a year, and Dick's is the place I go to when I look forward to pinching my fingers again. They always have a great selection and the prices are very reasonable. The one thing I've never purchased at Dick's is my running shoes because they don't carry the kind I like, but don't let the stop you. They have an enormous selection. Just because they don't carry mine doesn't mean they don't carry yours. From camping to canoeing to sports with balls to athletic apparel to hunting stuffs, chances are Dick's can hook you up. read more

I shopped at Dick's Sporting Goods in Thousand Oaks, California for about seven years and was very pleased with their product lines and service. Moreover, their staff was knowledgeable and helpful Then I moved to Louisville and went to their Oxmoor location at: 7900 Shelbyville Rd, Louisville, KY 40222. That's where this story goes VERY badly. My wife and I entered the store today (03.05.2024) around 4/4:30pm in search of some new workout clothes. The first stop was Under Armour. A young woman arrived to presumably assist us, but she knew very little about the product line. Moreover, when I asked her what other brands they offer, she told me she only could assist me with Under Armour. I should have know then that this was only going to get worse and not better. So, my wife and I began a search for the usual brands, Nike, Adidas, Puma etc. No one, I repeat no one stopped us or asked us if they could be of help This was remarkable due to the fact that the store was virtually empty. At that hour most people are headed home for the day. This was only made more onerous by the fact that we saw no less than 8 personnel standing around and talking among themselves and certainly not helping patrons Finally we found the Nike section and on our own selected several items to try on in the Dick's dressing room. The Dick's dressing room features a button outside which when pressed, summons a sales person to open the door. We pressed that button several times without anyone arriving to open the dressing room door. My wife finally spotted three saleswomen no more than 15 feet from us who could barely respond to my wife when she asked them to assist us. Their answer was, "Well, we never heard the bell." Once they came over they noted that the bell was dangling from a wire within the wall. They gasped and said, "Good Lord, someone should take care of that!" Really? They never once asked, "did you find everything you wanted or can we help you with this purchase?" Reluctantly they opened the door. I went in and tried on the garments my wife and I selected. I came out to show my wife how one of the items looked and the door to the dressing rooming immediately slammed shut and locked my pants, shoes, wallet, house keys and car fob inside. So, we began again to search for someone to open the door. A young man stood in close proximity, but when asked to open the door, he said... I don't have a key. He didn't say, "I don't have a key, but I'll get one. Or "I'm so sorry, I'll get someone to help you right away or can I help you find some other items?" At long last another young woman came and opened the door. She, too, did not ask how she might help us or that she was sorry for the inconvenience. I put on my pants and shoes, picked up my wallet and keys and car fob and left. When I got home I went on the Dick's website. I asked for the store manager's name and telephone number. The chat on Dick's site was beyond infuriating. Apparently, they don't know who the manager is of their store!!!! Their going to email me in 48 to 72 hours. Really? I urge you to avoid Dick's at the Oxmoor locationg. Given the dearth of buyers in the store, it would appear the word is already out about their lack of service and limited selection. I always find good deals but it annoys me when the sales signs aren't specific. If you can't mix and match sale items - the signs should probably specify that. Today I went in looking for sports bras for my upcoming camping trip. I found one I liked as well as a T-shirt. Both were on tables which had buy one, get one 50% off signs. There was nothing on the sign to indicate that you could not mix and match. Get to the counter and both ring up at the sale prices without the additional discount. Mention this to the sales girl and I'm told you can't mix and match. Not a huge deal but the sales signs should be more specific. I'm not one to get snippy but I could see where people would have an argument over this. Store was super clean and all the employees were friendly. I found a few items that I wasn't even looking for. They have a rewards program as well. Parking lot can be a pain to navigate but overall, I like this store. read more

Most incompetent employees ever. Waited at the counter for ten minutes no employee in sight other than the one at a register with an ever growing line. Some mouth breather shows up at the service counter with me the only one waiting there. Starts complaining he isn't going to answer the phone that is ringing off the hook and totally ignores me and asks if he can help ring people up (something that was needed worse than at Walmart). I said I had been waiting for help and he said he said he was busy with the long line. In case you've never been, Academy Sports is about half the price without the rude incompetent staff read more

They always have what I need. The staff seems to know what's up. It's a sporting goods store. What else can I say?

I went in to look for some protective gun shooting glasses. I had bought some here many years ago in a cute pastel pink and gray plastic frame. My friend had come over to show me how to edge the yard and I let her borrow them. She loved them and I thought I would thank her for her help by buying her a pair for her BDay. I spent a long time just looking around at other stuff in the store, since I hadn't been there for a couple years. As I went to the hunting room in the back where I got the glasses last time, I couldn't find the same pair I got before. This time they had some black ones and also a bright neon pink one. Both had an extra shiny cheap looking plastic frame that didn't look very cute. I guess I couldn't expect they would still have something they sold years ago. I do like Dick's and occasionally stop by to find some sporting supplies I can't find other places. I actually had great luck here several years ago getting some bike shorts and bike safety lights & attachments. Their store is always clean and bright. The only reason I gave only 3 stars wasn't because I didn't find what I was looking for this time, but because the customer service. I was in the store for a pretty long time, and no one came to ask me if I needed help. Even though I didn't find what I needed, I did end up having questions to purchase other items. There was two times in the hunting supply area, that a worker came in looked at me and kept eying me but never said a word to me. Then when he left another worker came and did the same thing, and when he noticed that I was going to say something to him he hurried off. It was a little weird. read more

They should change the name of this store to Dick's Sports Fashions. Most of the merchandise is clothing. They have surprisingly few pieces of fitness and exercise equipment, unless you play golf. It also doesn't help when one of their employees walks around the store with a hacking cough and refuses to cover his mouth. Thanks, now I may be too sick to workout. read more

Didn't get anything, but they had some good stuff on sale. I have enough running outfits and looking at the UA shoes.

They always have everything you need for a great outdoor experience. I visit the hunting and fishing section every season and I'm always pleased with the selection. read more

Misleading advertising. Hundreds of shoes on tables in aisle with sign "50% lowest marked price." Picked up a pair of 'clearanced' Nike bball shoes for $90 thinking they would be around $45. Tried them on and carried them around the store as I shopped. for more items. They came up at $90 at checkout and the employee says "it only applied to shoes where the price ends in $.97." Really? Of course, it's in the small print, but that's just completely misleading. I put down all my items and left the store and will likely never shop there again. They seriously need some competition in the Louisville area. read more

This store is exceptional. I actually drive out of my way to come to this dicks, even though I live closer to oxmoor. The staff is much more knowledgeable and friendly, they're always willing to help. Often they will order an item and ship to me if I cannot find it in store. read more
