Dick's... If you go into any Dick's Sporting Goods anywhere in the country, they are all pretty much the same. They look the same, they carry mostly the same items, and pretty much you know exactly what you're going in there for and you know what you're going to find. This location is no different. This is a two-story location. It's fairly large. And, it is fully stocked with all of the things you would expect them to carry. So, if you want to go in here and buy those sporting goods that you need, this is the place to go. This location also carries a lot of Badgers and Packers jerseys, hats, T-shirts, and all of that kind of stuff. So if you're looking for that team stuff or memorabilia, again, this is your place to go. As in all Dick's Sporting Goods, the staff here are all very nice and they will help you as best as they can. I needed to grab a pair of shoes and some clothing for a man who was in need of help on Tuesday night, and this was the closest shop I could find that had both shoes and clothing, including t-shirts, briefs, pants, and socks. I didn't see the Kohl's across the lot until after I spent nearly $200 here. Even the same items are priced so high here. The cheapest shoes I could find were $99 and they were wrong size so I passed on those. You tick the size and style into a kiosk and then a worker brings the shoes to you, but she brought a women's 7 instead of a man's 7, and it was too late to re-do the process so I just skipped buying the shoes. I will never buy anything from Dick's Sporting Goods again. I bought a pair of goalkeeper gloves with the original receipt, but when I tried to return them after using them just once, the manager flatly refused. How can a customer possibly know if gloves fit properly or perform well without actually trying them in a real game? They were still in good condition, yet I was offered no refund, no exchange, and not even store credit. This shows zero flexibility and very poor customer service. Stores like Amazon, TJ Maxx, and Sierra have far more customer-friendly return policies and treat shoppers with respect. I strongly recommend avoiding Dick's Sporting Goods and shopping elsewhere if you value flexibility and fair treatment. read more

Our experience at this Dicks was just ordinary. Nothing bad, nothing good. We really like how large the store was and how many options they had for clothes. Everything seemed fully stocked and organized. We always like to look at the professional sports team gear at Dicks and this location was full of Bucks, Brewers, Packers, Badger gear! All I can say is wow. My husband and I came in the store from out of town. Not one person said welcome or hello. One person was ringing up a customer. The other 2 were texting on their cell phones. Another associate walked by us. Not a hello nothing. We went into the mall and found UW Madison items that we wanted in another sporting goods store store. We bought what we came for and then some. We walked through Dicks again and one associate looked up from his phone and said 'Have a good day' . How can you improve? Put the cell phones away and say hello to the customers. You know those moments in life where one just wants to look at someone, roll their eyes, and shake their head? Yeaaaap. Well that about sums up my entire experience at Dicks today. Besides having a bottomless pit of an appetitie, I happen to have Sasquatch like sized feet for a woman. So finding the right running shoe is sometimes more difficult than it needs to be. Regardless. I had caught wind that this store stocked the shoe I was seeking. Word to the wise: if you need help, good luck. It took me 30 minutes to get someone to help me. I'm sorry, but its a Saturday afternoon. You would expect a mall store to be busy on a Saturday. Staff more people. I understand people get sick, but this is always a problem when I've ventured here...I can never find someone to help me. And when I do, it is like I am speaking a foreign tongue. Never having worked in retail, I know very little about it. However, I had the exact name of the shoe I was looking for, the size, sku number, the whole 9. I even wrote it down. So again I thought I'd stop by Dick's to look at a few things and once again disappointed. The last time I was here I went to try some clothes on and couldn't find anyone. Pressed some buzzer...still nothing...walked around and found someone. They looked at me and checked me out like I was a criminal just to try 2 shirts on. This time I stopped by to look at some new shoes. I found 2 pairs I wanted to try on. I noticed some staff just wandering around aimlessly and they didn't appear to enthusiastic to help anyone. After a few minutes I approached one of the employees and they vanished. I finally got fed up and left.I have NEVER been to Dick's and had a good experience.It's the only place in town to purchase sporting goods. In terms of what Dick's offers, it's a run of the mill mall-anchor sporting goods store. Depending on where you are in the country, you undoubtedly have one and have been in it and know exactly what you're going to find inside. What made this Dick's special on my last visit, though, was the customer service. It wasn't extraordinary, but it was still better than what I've come to expect from stores in the mall. On the weeknight I visited I headed upstairs to the camping supplies in search of a pop-up canopy tent. There appeared to be only one person working on the whole floor, and I had to go on a bit of a hunt to find him because he was bouncing from department to department. When I finally spotted him among the racks I asked if he could help me get a package down from the top shelf. On his way to the camping area with me he saw a gentleman waiting for a dressing room and kindly let me know he was going to quickly let the guy in but that he'd meet me back in the aisle in a minute. As promised, he quickly rejoined me and retrieved my item. In addition to the wind wall I had him get down for me, I had a large canopy and anchor weight pack set aside. I asked him if they had carts because I couldn't carry all three items at once, and instead of just telling me where to find them, he went to get one and bring it back. He then helped me load my cart, and offered to walk me over to the elevator (hidden in a corner of the store) so that I didn't have to try to maneuver the cart down the escalator. In most of the other mall stores I've visited in recent years, I would have just been pointed in a general direction and left to figure it out. These are all little things that should just come with the idea of "customer service," but it was nice to see them put into action. read more

They generally have a good selection but the staff is rude and unhelpful for the most part. Their prices aren't the best, either. If you're not on a tight budget, know exactly what you want to buy and where it is located in the store before you walk in it's a great place to go. Otherwise, I'd go to a specialty shop. read more

I think everyone knows Dick's....it a big box sporting goods chain store. They have a lot of general stuff for all kinds of sports. My experiences here have been mixed.... Fishing and hunting? A really decent selection of supplies and the people usually really know their stuff. If I come here, it's usually for lures, shells, or other gear Shoes? They have a great selection of all sorts of shoes, hiking boots, waders, etc., etc..... However, I've not liked the help in the shoe section...good perhaps for general stuff but, I'll stick to Berkley Running for my running shoes Cycling and Kayaking? Perhaps fine for the casual user but, the people that I have had "help" me in those areas, really did NOT know their stuff...I think these sports are perhaps too specialized, or something....stick to Rutabaga, Willy St., and Williamson Athletic clothing? They seem to have a good selection of general workout type clothing. I've bought such clothing here as gifts for others, prices are reasonable. Golf, Hockey, camping, others? Can't really speak to these other sports though, they do have large sections for each of them....enter at your own risk Hint: it can be hard to find help in this huge place, especially during busy times, go early in the morning, right when they open....this is often when the most professional and experienced staff are working and you can get the best help. Attempted to purchase some football gear for my son there today. We tried for about ten minutes to get the attention of the shoe guy and when he did 'help' us it was obvious that he didn't give a s--t at all. All he could do is grunt and point at product. I asked him a question and all he did is walk away. When I approached another employee he gave the same attitude. I went to MC Sports off Midvale, spent about 150 bucks and was treated very well. My mother and I was shopping at Dick's today and was told about $20 dollars off coupon valid until January 9th. They honored it for my purchase, but did not honor it for my mother's purchase. The cashier, Erika, was clearly confused. Something happened during my mother's transaction and the cashier only took off $6, instead of $20. My mother spent almost $300. When we left, we felt that we should add all of the items purchased again (including the sales tax) and subtract the $20 off. We calculated the items 3x to make sure we were correct. The results showed a $14 difference. We went back to Dick's and spoke with a manager and the cashier, Erika. Sadly, management was just as confused as the cashier. They did not reimburse the $14. Instead, they just acted as if the transaction was correct and did nothing to rectify the situation. Very lazy and poor customer service. I wish that they hired more quality employees who can do their jobs correctly. We weren't going to continue to make a big deal about $14. Nevertheless, this was still an unsatisfactory experience. Other employees were helpful. Angel, who worked in the shoe department on the ground level, was the best and I wish more of the employees at Dicks would follow his lead! read more

Dick's must train their staff to be as rude an unhelpful as they can possibly be. A living being with normal human emotions in a free society could not possibly treat other humans like Dick's staff treats their customers unless they were being forced to act that way. In this showcase of atrocious customer service, Dick's shoe department manages to set a new low. We brought our three children to the store with the intention of buying two pairs of shoes for each. After finally tracking down a staffer, we explained what we needed and started with the first child. He left and came back with one pair in the size we thought we needed, dropped them on the bench and walked away. They didn't fit. I searched for the staffer to ask for a different size. He sighed, rolled his eyes, and strolled to the back. He brought another pair, flung them on the bench, and was never to be seen again. Ultimately we left without buying anything and have never set foot in the store again. Do yourself a favor. If you need shoes, drive out to Black Earth and shop at the Shoe Box. They have a great selection, fantastic staff, and their prices are comparable to Dick's. read more

Not sure what other reviewers are complaining about as far as staff goes. Yeah, the place is enormous, but I have always been able to find somebody to help me whenever I go in there, no matter what time of day. Not only have I always found help quickly, but the staff has always been super helpful and friendly as well. Huge, well-lit, clean, and organized store.
