We had an amazing experience at Bass Pro Shop in Sun Prairie, WI when we went to pick up our boat…read more The paperwork was ready and easy, they gave us an hour of instruction on how everything worked, and then they went above and beyond! Our trailer hitch wiring was the wrong one, so their boat service people actually took 2 and spliced them together for us! They plugged it in, and everything worked immediately and we were on our way. We couldn't ask for better service. They were so helpful. It's been over a month and the boat is perfect. We feel like we were treated like royalty! I would give them more than 5 stars if I could.

But, again, it was clearance season and we tried to get one at the Bass Pro Shops in the Milwaukee area and no dice. We tried Green Bay--nope. So when we found that they had one here while we were on vacation in Door County, we were hoping we'd be able to reserve it in some way without making the drive. They allowed us to do so by putting down a refundable deposit. We did so and they got the boat prepped for our purchase and we were able to pick it up a few days later. Everyone we worked with was helpful and friendly. They walked us through the boat and made sure we felt completely comfortable with everything before taking the boat away. The store itself is brimming with outdoor goodness. Everything was neat and in order and help is readily offered. No complaints! Get to it!

This is more of a review of Marmot than of Fontana Sports. I bought my first Marmot down jacket…read morehere, and it lasted almost twenty years before the zipper broke. It kept me so warm and toasty in the brutal upper Midwest winters. I discovered the Marmot brand here in the 1990s. Back in the 1990s, Patagonia was not considered as "technical" and as bougie as Marmot and The North Face. Arcteryx either didn't exist or was an obscure brand almost thirty years ago. Now, Patagonia and Arcteryx are off-the-charts insanely priced. Marmot and The North Face are considered "value" brands. In any case, I still buy Marmot; it's better quality and far better value than Patagonia because: 1. Higher down fill power and 2. Higher down fill weight I recently bought a 700-fill down parka from Marmot with 220 grams of down for far less money than a 600-fill down parka with 150 grams of down from Patagonia. I was cold in the Patagonia parka, and it was horribly expensive. I had to return. I also bought coats from Eddie Bauer and from L.L. Bean. Nowhere nearly as warm as Marmot. The Marmot down parka that I recently bought is called the Montreaux Coat, and I've yet to find a warmer coat at such a great price point. It hits my knee, although it's supposed to hit my calf, so that's a bit misleading on their website. It's closer to parka length than coat length. I like that when the zipper broke after almost twenty years of owning my first Marmot down jacket, I called Marmot's Customer Service, they sent me a shipping label, and they said that they would gladly repair the zipper for me, for free. When they couldn't repair the zipper, they just sent me a new Marmot down jacket. So, I wore that complimentary replacement jacket for another ten years before finally buying the Montreaux coat this year almost thirty years after buying my first Marmot down jacket from Fontana Sports.

i still miss the west side store! Every day!!!!! Wonderful store! Ski tuning was wonderful!read more

While "wintering" in our RV in the desert Southwest we encountered a couple of problems with our…read morerig. The charging system with the generator gave up and more concerning our furnace quit working. Since it was late in the season we decided to bring the rig back and have the work done closer to home. Since Gander RV took over from Camper World we decided to give them a try. We had decided to not let our poor experiences with Camper World carry over to Gander. What a great decision that turned out to be!! Gary was our contact and boy did he do a great job. He stayed in close contact and kept us in the loop during each "diagnosis " to discuss options. The two problems were fixed up and during the processes we even added a couple more things to the wish list which were promptly taken care of. All was done on time and for the prices quoted! Thanks again Gary and Gander, we're back on the road , all good!

We recently purchased a 2027 ENTEGRA Odyssey Esteem Edition 29V. When purchased we stated that we…read morewould pick it up the following week so that they would have plenty of time to prep and fix any problems Upon delivery we were given a walk through of our unit by a tech. When we asked some questions about the prep, he answered that he didn't know because he wasn't the person who prepp the unit. That should have been my first clue. I asked him to start the generator, but he couldn't because there was less than a1/4 tank of gas. This is the same amount as when we test drove the unit. Again, they had a week to fill the gas tank. The tech then called our salesman to get the unit filled with gas. Our salesman Bentley had to find someone with a credit card so that he could fuel up. We were waiting for over an hour for this to happen. When given keys for the unit, we were given two keychains but only one ignition key, 2 keys for storage units and one key for outside shower door. When I asked for the other ignition key and storage key I was told that it what is given by Entegta. I thought that very strange. Since delivery I have contacted online customer support from ENTEGRA and they referred me to an ENTEGRA dealer, I called that dealer and was told I should have received 2 of each key as well as 2 fobs/ remotes to enter the cab. I also contacted my local Ford dealer and the service manager confirmed that Ford provides 2 ignition keys and 2 remotes for the cab.I have also confirmed this on various Entegra forums. I called my salesman and told him this and told me he would check, I also told him that I was missing various owner manuals for the unit. He did send me online manuals. I've heard nothing about the keys. I've called numerous times this week but have not been able to speak to my salesman or a manager, everyone seems to be busy. I've left messages to call me back but haven't had any response. We also tried the generator when we got home, it only ran for 5 minutes, then cuts off. I called the ENTEGRA dealer that I was referred to by ENTEGRA and they gave me the phone number of Cummins Sales and Service because Cummins needs to do the warranty work. It is in the shop now. So I'm sure that nobody from Camping World checked the generator during prep. I wonder what else hasn't been checked. I have only had the unit 12 days as I'm writing this. I will try calling again today and then will be contacting corporate to see if they answer the phone or emails

I always look at the bargain racks and as usual they never have my size in what I want or they do and its some crazy colour or pattern. The dry-fit shirts I have, about 8 from Columbia have all lasted me 3-5 years so far. I have yet to throw one out. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

You know, the clothing…read moreitem that seemed so cute on paper, but when it came back from the Asian factory, real and three-dimensional, everyone standing around as it was taken out of the box just said, "Whoops." And then they sent it directly to the outlet mall. There are some items like that at the Columbia store. Odd colors, designs you can't picture being sold at full retail. For example, pairs of plaid shorts, in bright summery colors with matching tops, that came down to the knee in form-fitting fashion -- they were essentially hot pants. I have to ask, what were these doing at a sporting-goods store? I can't imagine them selling well to Columbia's target market. But, there are also plenty of items that fit more squarely within the Columbia brand. Such as, a white linen shirt with button-up sleeves, perfect for lightweight sun protection on the water or when camping; and a pair of nylon shorts for whitewater rafting (when they won't let you wear cotton on the river). There are plenty of "quirky" items -- normal Columbia items such as warm winter coats, in slightly odd colors that obviously didn't sell well. For instance, I got a really nice sun hat for $6 (I think the original price was like $40). Even better if it's your favorite color -- this one was purple! I did not check out the shoe selection but they do have them. All sorts of camping gear as well. Like most outlet stores, you may not find exactly what you're looking for at this one, but you will find plenty that you weren't looking for -- and sometimes that's the best part.
