They have a stack of 40 double tubes with a giant sign saying buy one get one 50% off. So I get two and take them up there. Doesn't ring up the discount. I point to the sign 30 feet away. She asks me to go take a picture of it, which I do. Then she says it only applies to the single tubes. They have no single tubes. Why create a display with the wrong items under a sale sign and then play games? It's either incompetence or fraud. Appearances can be deceiving. Story time. I literally just walked out of this location. When my husband and I walked in, a nice guy greeted us, and asked if he could direct us. We tell him yes, we'd like to see some golf clubs. He directs us to the back corner and tells us John will be there to help. I hear him radio back to tell John that we are coming. I'm looking at the $1200 set of Ping GLe2s for ladies. John never approached. We looked at every set on the wall. Drivers. Putters. Shoes. All of it. We spend a good deal of time looking. No one else was back there but John was busy trying to "look busy" if you know what I mean. When we walked near to see if we could get some help, he disappeared. Now, it's 100° in Texas. I work my tail off 12 hours days as a CVICU travel nurse. So maybe I didn't look like what he thought someone should, who golfs. Or maybe my dry fit tshirt and pony tail, didn't fit the profile. Maybe my husband's beard didn't sit well with him. I don't know, but regardless... you lost a sale. I'll go elsewhere and spend my money for my Pings. And driver. And putter. And bag. This 5 star rating is for Jake back in bike services! We brought my boys bike in because the brakes just did not work. They told me it would be 2-3 weeks before it would be ready. My son just got out of weather lock down and the thought of going 2-3 weeks without his bike caused him to go into convulsions. However when Jake got back from lunch he jumped on it. In a matter of 30 mins he had replaced the pads and tightened them up. They worked great. No 2-3 week wait! My son was able to stop spasming and was happy as happy could be! My son was visiting over Thanksgiving and was going to race in the Austin Turkey Trot and needed a new pair of running shoes. So off to Dick's we go. Big store, lots of ports stuff, if you need any athletic clothes, shoes, weights, or anything else this is a place for you. Unless you are way over weight you can't buy clothes but you can by golf clubs, tennis balls and other balls, yep they got them. The prices seem reasonable. So if you need anything related to sports you most likely will find it here. My son bought the ridged Reebok Shoes called Zig Pulse Sneakers, he loves them. Would we go back? You bet. read more

Customer service here has been great! Not only for me but I was able to see it with another customer who came in with his son. I forgot what the issue was about but all I know was the man was a day late on the coupon deal. Needless to say this store honored it just that one time. For me as a father it made me proud to see businesses out there who hold true to family values of their customers. I came here for the past few days because my kids inter tubes on their bikes kept popping from the cheap Huffy brand I bought at another store.They have some great inter tubes I must say because they haven't popped or leaked any air. Ordered some shorts during the Spring, were lost through postal because Dick's failed to include the house number (?) and had to resend. 2. This fall I ordered a pair of joggers. Next day they are $22 CHEAPER, call customer service who says they WILL NOT HONOR THE SALE. I reorder and plan to return the first pair. 3. Dick's AGAIN FAILS to include the house number and it is lost in route! I spent an hour on the phone with the postal service.... 4. THEY SENT THE WRONG SIZE OF JOGGERS. Returned both pairs. 5. So it's convenient to have a sporting goods store right here in Pflugerville and selection appears to be good in this brand new, clean and fully stocked store but other than golf balls on the way to my tee time I don't typically buy sports equipment from the closest establishment. They are going to have a tough go against Academy, Golfsmith, Edwin Watts, other specialty stores as well as Walmart & SuperTarget if they don't leverage their volume to reduce their own prices. read more

I have been getting a lot of workout gear at this Dick's recently. Weights, yoga mat and block, pull up bar and some Under Armor workout gear. So i am happy with their selection of items and enjoy the convenience of having them so close to home. But one consistent theme you will find here is that if you require any assistance...well your pretty much gonna have to go looking for it. Cause its not often that it will come to you. I have needed price checks and help buying shoes and other such things and every time i have to go and interfere with the 2 guys tossing around a football in the front of the store or bother someone from another department who has to intercom help my way. This place is still pretty new so we'll see how things work out with time but i can only grant 3 stars for now. read more

Super shady. When you checkout they don't let you see the prices. You only see the total once your approving a total amount on your credit card. It's not until your walking out the door looking at your receipt that they charged you wrong. Then, you stand in line for some kid to try and figure out how to correct it. Disaster! read more

I've come here a few times, looking for either clothes and shoes, and I haven't been too impressed with the selection. It's a GIANT store, and I'm curious as to why it wasn't designed with 2 floors (like most other Dick's that I've been to). The men's section is pretty small (not in sizes though, full of XL and XXLs), but they do have a pretty decent-sized sporting equipment section. It's a little disappointing, as the Dick's that I've been to in other cities have had huge, huge selections of everything. It's too bad, as this is a great location and there's not really any other competition in Pflugerville...but I don't foresee any layout changes to this store anytime soon. So unless I need a tennis racket or golf clubs, I'll probably just drive a little further to Academy or Sports Authority. read more

My husband and I bought a $1300.00 elliptical on Sunday. We also paid $120 to have it delivered and assymbled. The man that checked us out was very friendly and said to call back in 2 days if the delivery company had not contacted us for a delivery date. Well, it's been 2 days and my husband called the store only to have the manager treat him like dirt! She said it could take 36 DAYS to have our elliptical delivered!! WHAT? She then proceeded to tell my husband to "go buy it somewhere else!" Then she HUNG UP on him!! If the is the customer service Dick's provides we will NEVER shop here again!! Called corporate and are still waiting for a return call. We will definatley go spend our $1500 somewhere else where they can treat customers with respect! Very nice, clean store. Employees were friendly, and store seemed pretty well stocked. It's a good store for your last minute sporting goods needs. The worst customer service I've ever experienced with an employee named Jacob. I found the same dry fit pullover at Walmart for $29.96 so I called Dicks to see if they would price match and was told they would. (Dicks price was $39.99) Just take a picture of the pullover and the sale price and bring it in. So I went in today and Jacob told me that he would not price match bc I didn't have a picture of the scu number. I told him I was told to take a picture of the shirt and the price in it and that would suffice. He cut me off and said " Well you were told wrong"... So I went back to Walmart took a picture of the scu tag and came back. Then he said he wouldn't honor the price match bc the scu tag didn't match.... well it is common sense that the same shirt is sold by different distributors have different looking tags. But the shirt is THE EXACT SAME. Then proceeded to tell me he wouldn't loose his job just because I wanted a shirt cheaper... This guy isn't going to loose his job by honoring a price match. He will loose it by treating customers like crap. Obviously he is so immature to realize that a lot of moms and dads with kids in sports spend thousands every year at this store. $10 isn't breaking the bank, its the principal of the matter and the poor execution on their end. read more

I appreciate the fact that Dick's has come into a market and provided good healthy competition. For my sporting goods, I float between Academy and Dick's for the locations and price competition on certain things. I play Disc Golf (competitively and casually), you know: the most popular unknown sport in the world (I always say), and when they FIRST opened up I spoke with the manager about bringing in more Disc Golf plastic to the players in the area. The manager (and about 2 workers) and I had a lengthy conversation about the sport, and I actually helped teach them about the products they had. They were not aware of the products characteristics, etc.; so as any good promoter of the sport, I taught them the basics and they appreciated it so that they would not look foolish in front of customers. That openness BOUGHT me attention on their business plans in the area and the community. Shortly there after, I was SOLD on Dick's when I approached them about sponsorship opportunities to some local Disc Golf Charity events my Disc Golf club (Waterloo Disc Golf Club) had scheduled. Without the need for much paper work, or politics I presented the event plans, submitted paperwork, and information to them (their corporate office). They approved it, and provided 2 prizes (Gift Certificates) and coupons/schwag for over 100 players for our recent 32nd Annual Waterloo Classic Disc Golf Tournament benefiting the Ronald McDonald House of Austin. Outstandingly hands down they won all of our approval. I say this emphatically when compared to Academy. Academy has great products and items for what you may need, but their corporate sponsorship requests were burdensome, we approached them for OVER 5 YEARS for support of this same event. ALWAYS resulting in some failure for some reason or another about paperwork, time lines, etc. Was this anti-Academy on their part? I don't care, because Dick's came through well ahead of the event and proudly deserved a spot on our flyers, shirts, and merchandise that we had.. all to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Austin (the kids loved it). So for product prices, please compare them. For product types? Academy and Dick's are close and have some uniqueness. For community support and understanding? Dick's wins in my opinion for listening to me when they first opened up, and for taking the time and effort to sponsor a longstanding tournament here in Austin. I cruised this store about once a week since it opened, checking out everything prior to buying. Well , that day came yesterday. Ended up buying some weights for my wife and me, a pair of golf shoes that were on sale, and a couple of other knick knacks. Total, around $200.00 dollars! I'm lugging around a hundred pounds of weights while standing in line, and the little geek at the register is only interested in me signing up for some stupid points card. I declined, and that seemed to just piss him off. I hate being solicited for more crap when I'm already in line at your store making a purchase. Once he finished ringing us up, I just hear "next customer in line." Meanwhile, I'm still struggling to gather up all these weights on the counter, and whatever happened to "Thank you?" I'm struggling at the counter, and he's just trying to hustle me out the door. I like to take the wait and see approach to any place that's new before forming an opinion, but that really annoyed me. I would think that since this is a brand new store, in a very competitive market, and the economy being the way it is, the employees could at least show some courtesy. I would also like to think that all of the employees received some kind of customer interaction training. I guess that cashier was sick that day. A couple of other unpleasent discoveries were the Nike IC putters. They have about 6 or 7 of them when you first walk in, and they're all marked with red price stickers at $139.00, indicating that this was some kind of deal. Wrong! Think closer to MSRP. Also, I checked out their grips section. Whoaaa! They're higher than Edwin Watts, and Golfsmith. To be fair, they seemed to have some deals on their "Walter Hagen" generic golf bags, and ladies generic drivers. I'm going to keep my eye on this store, because I'm a sportsman, and I live very close. Next time I drop by to buy something, I'll let you in on my experience, good or bad. Today I bought a cheap camp chair from Dick's Sporting Goods. I had an unfortunate experience with my new chair and its structural integrity was compromised in awkwardly humorous/slightly painful fashion. This was due to a fluke faulty product and nothing else. The cashiers and management staff were AWESOME when I returned. They were extremely empathetic and helpful with my return. They went above and beyond the standard of good customer service. I have been to Dick's many times and was disappointed each time. I think the prices are high and the sale they have is not that great. I think Academy, Target, Wal-Mart, and Sports Authority is cheaper and more busy than Dick's. On the other side, they do have a ton of different sporting equipment, accessories, and clothing. I can in looking for a few toddler baseball equipment as was able to only find a few things. This has always been a pricey store but have good quality sports equipment. I would not think twice about going somewhere else to find something of this quality. Disappointed with service at this store. I have stopped in several times and while the store is always clean and they have a good selection of items, I have never once been asked if I needed help. Most recent visit was last week. I stopped in to buy some cold weather running gear. I was all set to spend several hundred dollars on new stuff. I wasn't greeted. There was no one I could find to point me in the direction of running stuff or answer questions I had about recommendations for cold weather running gear. Wandered around myself looking at items for about 15 mins. Still didn't see a staff. Finally got a few items I wanted to try on. Dressing rooms are locked. Pressed the button for help. Someone finally came to open the dressing room. Went in. Shut door. Lights didn't work. Went out again with my items and found another dressing room. Again had to press a button for help. Wait for someone to show up. Was finally able to get in a dressing room with working lights to try my items on. I did find one pair or running tights I liked. Had the service been better here I would have bought those tights in several colors. Instead I will order them online directly from Under Armour. The other items I was interested in (gloves, hat, etc) I will go to Academy or a running store for. Check out was OK though there was only one person actually working a register while I saw a couple other staff standing around talking. For the prices Dick's charges I can pay the same thing at a running store and get better service. read more

Nice store. It's very convenient to our location. They usually have what we're looking for but, the staff seriously lacks public relations skills. I've gone in looking to make some considerable purchases and find the staff seemingly trying to avoid helping customers. That's why I gave them a two. Bad PR (public relations) is definitely a way to chase away customers. If I was the owner, I'd be straightening out the management right quick and trimming the fat. read more

They get one star because you can't go any lower than that. I try to stay close to home and in my neighborhood. I do quite a bit of business in Pflugerville shopping for my grandchildren who live out of state. I had to search through what little they had trying to make it work. They didn't have enough sizes in Dallas Cowboys or Texas Rangers team jerseys, ball caps, or even tshirts. I ended up having to come back hoping to exchange and get a bigger size for what I did purchase and they still had yet to restock. Not to mention the line was about 15 people deep and there's only two cashiers and she walked away. That poor guy, Antonio he was the only one up there that was doing his job. read more
