I dropped off my new skies to be fitted to my boots. I think Austin is very lucky to have a full service ski shop in town. Talking with the ski guy, who also is a bicycle guy, I decided to bring my mountain bike back to get a tune up. It's been cold, so I won't miss it. The bike is taking longer than expected due to most of the guys helping out in the ski shop side. I placed the order without problems, but when I received the goods, I found that the model and color were different from what was on the site. It was not possible to contact the support service immediately - the answer came only a few days later. In the telephone mode, the situation was explained, although some confusion remained, because the goods on the site were still available. The return was organized, but the process required additional efforts on my part. It would be more pleasant if in such cases they offered something as an apology - even trifles sometimes matter. Despite this, the service is generally adequate, and this is probably just an isolated case. The product is of high quality, and if everything is stabilized with communication, we could again consider this point for purchases. read more

My husband and I purchased our snowboard boots online during black Friday. I even ended up buying 2 styles of boots so I could decide which one I wanted. Shipping was fast and returning the pair I didn't want in store was a breeze. FYI - they also offer free heat molding in store for boots purchased through them. I love this local store on Burnet Road. Although not a huge selection, whenever I need something they usually have it (athletic apparel, jackets, socks, etc.). They also have great sales on off-season merchandise. On my last visit I was quickly greeted upon entering the store and multiple members of the staff were super helpful. EJ in particular was awesome helping me with shoes. It's unfortunate they keep their dressing rooms locked and the key behind the counter (not nearby). At times staff have been great and I haven't had to wait long for them to acknowledge I need to try things on, but other times it's been an issue getting into a room. read more

When my front derailleur starting getting janky, S & S assiduously worked their supply chain to try & find a replacement part and -- when that proved impossible -- ended up tearing down & rebuilding the old one, old school. Ordered a pair of 2025 snowboard boots. Received last year's model in a completely different color than what was pictured on their site and in my order confirmation. Took their "customer service department" 3 days to get back to me via email. Called them up again on day 3 and was told they don't have the 2025's in stock at all (even though they still have them up on their site rn). Then got put on hold for over 10 minutes before just giving up on the call. Only solution they could offer is that I get to repack the box and drive it down to FedEx to correct their mistake. Although, I don't think it was a mistake at all based on other reviews I've now read. Just a suggestion Sun & Ski...when you mess up an order like this, either mistakenly or intentionally, it generally goes a long way to offer the consumer a credit of some sort to make amends. The credit will typically appease the consumer and will help you retain a paying customer that may even have good word of mouth to share with others. Conversely, asking the consumer to correct the seller's mistake may lead to the loss of a customer forever and likely bad word of mouth shared with others. I will never buy from this place again. read more

I love how nice and friendly all the staff here are. I've been coming here for years and it's my favorite place to go for summertime or outdoor outfits and accessories. They have a great selection of womens surf wear/clothing. Although I would love it if they carried volcom, the have mostly all the other brands. They also carry women's Patagonia baggies in 2 1/2 inch and 5 inch. Which is great because not a lot of places carry both in store. read more

After i 'purchased' them i received an email saying they don't have the item and suggested other items, but i declined as this felt to me 100% like a bait and switch. I now receive near-daily email blasts from them and have attempted multiple times to 'unsubscribe' and change my 'email preferences.' Both links take you to a blank page. I overheard an employee helping a young letter get all the gear she needed for snowboarding and he really seemed to know his shit and was enthusiastic about it. Awful! We were in here buying ski boots for my husband. I saw some UA base layer clothing for my kids that had a clear 40%. I mean CLEAR. "40% off lowest ticketed price Under Armor clothing". So the sales man says "No, we marked it wrong". He calls the manager and the manager says. "no, it is just marked that way because we are moving stuff around we will not give you the discount". I explained that this was impossible because the sign clearly referred to UA kids apparel on sale and the entire rack was full of UA kids apparel (none of it was on sale, according to them). As soon as We were done, they took the sign off. So really they do know they marked it incorrectly. I am a small business owner. I try my hardest to support local businesses and not shop online. But this is why shops fail. Customer service is horrible. Managers could care less if you walk out without actually purchasing. Sadly, I will buy this online not really caring about the price I pay . We ordered a ski helmet and goggles for our daughter on a Saturday(yes realizing they were closed at that time) BUT we paid for expedited Fed Ex Overnight shipping to arrive on Tuesday. We were leaving for a ski vacation on Thursday. So imagine my surprise, the goggles shipped, but not the helmet. We received the goggles on Tuesday as expected, but No sign of the helmet. I called the store/customer service line. The lady stated, yes you ordered, but the store had already sold that helmet, so we moved your order(Today/Tuesday/the day I was suppose to receive the helmet) to another store, and we'll get it to you by the end of the week. After some discussion, she finally understood(I think) that we paid for Overnight shipping for a reason. She then put me on hold and called the second store to make sure they were shipping it out that day, so we could receive it by Wednesday, and then we would still be able to have the helmet for the trip. After about 5-10 minutes on hold, she came back and apologized and stated that the store my order had been transferred to, also did NOT have the helmet. It was at that time, she offered to give me a refund for the helmet and shipping. My main complaint is not that they didn't have the helmet or that it had been sold. I get that and know inventory systems and product websites may not be updated at all times. BUT, nobody at Sun & Ski Sports ever contacted me to let me know that my order wasn't coming. No calls and No emails. If I had not called them, I imagine we would have never got a helmet or a refund, because they apparently have a huge communication issue. Two back to back poor experiences. Went in for a specific item yesterday and it took 30 seconds til I got to the register. There was a guy in front of me returning $1,500 of ski gear and it took FOR-EVER. Me and another customer were behind waiting. There was a woman who came up to (what I thought would be to help on another register) but she was doing other stuff and came up twice and left both times, with me still suffering thru his return transaction item by item (a legit pile was on the floor). I realized I forgot to use my coupon code for $10 off over $50 purchase, so I go back today. The 20 something guy with lighter longer hair and facial pearcing was SO unnecessarily rude. I was pulling up the code (to return and rebuy for the discount) and said "can I use the $20 off $100 purchase Black Friday code instead? He said yes. I then asked "will this code work in store" (because it said ORDERS so I wasn't sure if it was only for online orders) and he rudely replied "yes, I already told you that". I just stood there shell shocked bc of his attitude when I should have stood up for myself and called him out on his attitude. So I went back home to write this review hoping the owner will see it and let the guy know that was uncalled for. Customers are the reason to they have jobs. I will add one positive, last week when I went to browse for North Face backpacks, and a nice young gentleman was so very helpful and attentive and walked me to where both NF and Patagonia back packs were. So that is why I gave an extra star when the last 2 days were 1 star. Suggestion- if you want locals to shop your store and not online to avoid attitudes such as this miserable cashier, then put those in charge of customer service in check. No bike techs. They were nice about telling me that after a 23 minute wait at service. They did seem genuinely disappointed at my circumstances and how my bike got damaged; but the fact of the matter is they carry no tires in my size, they have no techs to do any work, and their corporate office has no idea what the local situation is. I think that the fact is that if you are going to own an electric bike in Austin, TX you are going to have to buy your own parts off the internet and take a class in repair and maintenance. The three stars are actually for the personnel that finally noticed me loitering at the service desk and came back to tell me the situation. Stopped in here to purchase a snowboard for my daughter for Christmas. Honestly, I was totally flying blind. Took forever to someone to help, granted it was like 10 days before Christmas and they were {fairly} busy. But when someone finally did, they really didn't know anything about boards. Here's the deal, I get that not everyone will be knowledgeable about all their sports - skiing, snowboarding, cycling, hiking, mountain biking, etc. --Cool. I ski and know NOTHING about snowboarding. Then send over someone who does. I purchased her a board to have something under the tree anyway. We ended up not taking her board with us and visiting a store local to Denver and Colorado skiing. The dude there was super helpful. So we purchased a board there and returned the one to this shop. I did shop their sale rack and they had some pretty gnarly sale deals on clothing. read more

After waiting two weeks and no response, I never received my helmet. They never called or emailed me to let me know they over sold the item. When this has happened to me before, at least the snowboard shop was courteously enough to contact me and let me know what was going on. Now most shops have sold out of the helmet that was on sale. Nothing went well with this store. On their website they mention that they give $10 for opting for the SMS, but they don't honor that. Then why do they have on their site in the first place? When we returned the item, we have to follow up multiple times to get the refund. Don't buy anything here as this is the worst place to buy anything. Their customer service team ONLY responds, but not that helpful. We have to ship it back with our own money, but the refund process takes forever. No responses and nothing, we have to keep checking with them and they are least bothered to respond on time. Worst ever store in the US and don't ever buy anything here. Even it is a bit expensive anywhere outside, but it there for a piece of mind. read more
