So happy to finally find a pair of shoes. This is the fourth DSG I have been to and finally found a pair I like. The young man that helped me was a bit shy initially but after we began talking and he was going back and forth to find the shoes in my size, he started to talk a bit more. He had his cell phone app out looking for the shoes in sizes I needed. It seemed helpful as he was able to tell me if the shoe was in stock, able to be ordered on the app, or needed to be ordered directly from the company. He reminded me (which I already know because I buy shoes often from DSG) that I can have shoes shipped directly to my house free of charge. After finding the shoes I liked on this day and a pair of socks too, I was merrily on my way. Good job young man. Thank you for your help. read more

I went in person to return a shoe online order I made less than 30 days ago. The first person who helped was a woman with glasses, I unfortunately did not catch her name. She was very opening/welcoming and considerate regarding my return. This lady, who was helping another customer with their transaction, started to interrupt our conversation and rudely ignoring the customers she was helping to begin with. Alice, the front desk lead, proceeded to walk over to the woman who was helping and I. Alice interrupts the conversation and says that she denied the return to my parents a day prior. If Alice had given me to chance to explain, the way the first worker did, she would've heard me explaining that I called prior to coming into the store as I live about an hour away, to confirm my return. Also, the reason I asked my parents to go return the shoes for me, as they live closer. Alice continues to disregard anything I say. Then pops in another employee, Naomi, to rudely deny my return as well. On their website, it says shoes can be tested before return as along as they are clean. The shoes themselves were clean as I had only worn once. These are all thing I tried to explain, but continued to get denied. As. customer, it was frustrating and uncomfortable because it clearly says my shoes are returnable. I gave up trying to communicate with Alice and Naomi and asked to speak to their GM or be given a corporate number. As soon as I received the number, I thanked them for the little help I was given and called the number as soon as I was able too. The moment I got ahold of their corporate office, they heard me and gave me a return via mail so I would not have to worry about running into Alice or Naomi. Since the man in the office understood how they both made me feel uncomfortable with the service they gave, he thought this was the best form of return. Long story long, do not bother coming into this specific store for an online return, try to call their customer service/ corporate number as I am sure you will receive better service through the phone than in person. read more

My huis here in Santa Maria playing team play at the country club. Of course it's raining and his rain gear is at home, 2 hours away. So we find ourselves here. While Dicks is a great place to go for multiple needs, the Santa Maria location should be avoided everytime. The staff on Sundays would clearly rather be in a dentist chair than helping you. I'm sorry, was it an inconvenience for me to ask for a different size? Clearly the answer from 4 different employees would be a solid "yes". Completely removed anything to do with shooting or hunting. Can't even get gun oil or cleaning supplies. I was saving up Dicks gift cards to buy a new hunting shotgun. If they remove the words "sporting goods" from their name I would consider giving them 2 stars. I hope this place goes bankrupt. read more

We needed quite a few golfing grips repaired and found Corby. Corby is SO KIND, Not only is he kind but he also has so much knowledge of the sport. You can tell he just loves his job and loves golfing. He made our first visit here amazing & we are so thankful we were helped by him. I've tried to like this store, but I can't. After at least ten visits to this store in certain that I won't go here again. I have and will always drive the hour one way to go to the SLO store. The customer service is horrible, they don't know what they're talking about, and they are rude. I dropped off a golf club for a warranty claim after I was told by the company that it could be accomplish directly through the store since they're an authorized warranty center. The manager on duty told me they couldn't do that and would take care of the claim by sending it back, quickly. Two weeks later I called to get a status and was told by the same manager it had been sent and they were waiting for the manufacturer to give a replacement. A week later I called the manufacturer and was told they don't have a claim for that store at all. I went into the store and spoke to another employee who grabbed my club out of the back room, my club which had never been sent back, and was told nothing had been done. So to add to this review, they are liars! Don't waste your time with this place. The worst part is that I love this company. I will go to any other store and I've never had a problem. If I could do no stars I would. Elizabeth who works the front register was so frustrating and not helpful. I came in with a simple exchange. My 60 year old father wanted a 1/2 size up on a new pair of shoes he got for his birthday. When I asked, she told me to set the shoes down and GO FIND THE RIGHT SIZE. I was shocked. Never have I ever been told that at any store. She was so unwelcoming I wanted to just leave. But I needed to get my dad the right size and she was no help. She sent me to the SLO location. Said they might have the right size. She didn't even try. I asked her for the number and she seemed even more upset that I was bothering her. I know I could look it up online but I wanted to deal with this quickly and would have appreciated it if she would have checked online for me! And help me get the right size! Instead I left the store with the wrong size, called SLO & they said they don't have them either. And that's it. Now all I can do is return them and go to another shoe store. Thanks Dicks! read more

Great looking store but if you are a runner or cyclist they have a very limited selection in the men's clothing and accessories. So for a person like me this store sadly does not offer much. But there is plenty of things to look at in other departments. read more
