They have a huge selection of Benchmade knives and have promos running through the year. Since I have tons of knives I ended up grabbing a bunch of Olive Wood cooking utensils and a two bowl salt and pepper holder. Welp, what can I say? This little hidden gem nestled in the already gem that is, Solvang is lovely. From someone who loves knives with a passion, it's a must stop everytime we come up from the city. I've purchased multiple high end knives from this great shop, from protechs, to zero tolerances, to spyderco's. Great selection of nice high end blades, yes priced a bit high but given the small family owned business and where it's at, it's justifiable. They also offer knife sharpening which I tried for the first time today 9-22-2025. Took my Chris Reeve inkosi to get touched up as well as purchased a nice Maxamet spyderco. The reason for the 3 Star review you may be wondering, is when I got to the car to inspect my freshly stoned Chris Reeve Inkosi and play with my new spyderco. Is when I inspected the sharpened knife I noticed an unfortunate scratch on the titanium grip near the blade. That was not there before, looks to have been knicked with a belt sander (which is what I'm assuming they use to sharpen). As it shows the direction of the unfortunate knick going in the direction of the blades cutting edge. Hurt the soul a little seeing that as that was a $630 knife that was approximately 2 months old. Not the end of the world as Chris Reeve knives are advertised as hard use folders that'll outlive their owner, still super unfortunate. Maybe let's be a touch more careful next time? Still won't hinder the way I think about the shop and won't stop me from coming back, but will think twice on having my high end blades sharpened love the new spyderco by the way! read more

We were coming back through Solvang from Avila Beach and I remembered they had a knife store in town. While on the road, I called and inquired about knife sharpening. They said to come on down; they could accommodate me no problem. After a nice lunch in Los Olivos at Panino's, we pulled into Solvang after taking a quick detour hike at Nojoqui Falls. Walking into the store, they had a good selection of knives, including Benchmade and Spyderco. Jill, the woman who sharpened my knife was knowledgable, competent, and friendly. She did a marvelous job on my knife. I am more than satisfied. And it was only a $5 charge! Five enthusiastic stars for Solvang Knives and a special shout out to Jill! She is awesome! read more

I was only going to give 5 stars but the extremely helpful and friendly owner trained his dog to sneeze when he asked her if she had a cold or if she was going home sick so now each star is worth 2 and they are getting a 10 star review. Found this cool knife shop while visiting Solvang. Had to stop in since I'm kinda a knife nut. Very nice shop. Lots of high quality American made steel. Pretty impressive actually. The owner was quite knowledgeable and helpful. She let me see anything I wanted in the cases and was not annoyed that I wanted to see and fondle many blades. She patiently walked us through the different brands and styles they carry and noted their different applications and strengths. Wife and I was visiting from Hawaii. Been to Solvang but around 20 years ago. After searching for bakeries for eclairs walked across the street to head back to hotel and seen the sign to Solvang Knives. Just a few steps away and a woman just opened the store and greeted us to come in. I knew this was a good knife store since I seen quality production knives such as Benchmade, Spyderco, and some others. I was interested in the less production made. Jillian is very knowledgeable about the knives they sell also on the Worksharp equipment which she sharpens customers knives for a small price. She showed me a blade she worked on, just a kitchen knife but it was razor sharp. Being knowledgeable about the product I ended up getting the same set up she has and gave me some pointers. I didn't know but my wife told me we were in there for over 2 hours and was past 11 which we had to go check out of our hotel. Told Jillian I will be back. So much more than knives, AND a great selection of knives. Really, I never thought I'd be enthusiastic about visiting a knife shop! But there is soooo much packed into this store. Gifts for yourself, anyone who cooks, anyone who enjoys wine, etc. I have started gradually upgrading my kitchen knives with their products, and I bring old ones there to be sharpened. They have any kitchen utensil I might want, and only the highest quality items. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming staff. Hint: Their hours are more limited during COVID, so you might want to call ahead if your time is limited. They have all COVID precautions in place, and only allow so many people in the store at a time, with a little gate to manage traffic at the entrance, so I feel safe shopping there. They're on a side street so you might miss them if you're not making a point of stopping by, which would be a shame. I'll be back! read more

Sometimes you find customer service that calls out for a review. First a disclosure that I am from out of area and I needed to find a pair of roasting glasses and have them engraved. This seemed insurmountable but it was important so I was determined. I found this store by referral and I will be ever grateful that I was sent here. They did not have the glasses initially but were calling around to find them to the stores that might have them. They located them and we rushed out to get and bring back for engraving. In the ensuing time they found truly elegant glasses. They were so kind and engraved them even though they had to stay late to do so. They turned out stunning. This alone would have given them a rave re owe but to do so with that level of customer service is all too rare in this world. While waiting I was shopping and they have spectacular knives as well as things you would not expect like suspenders. I also purchased this gorgeous olive wood cutting board and had engraved as well. I will be back not only for the quality of their wares but the best customer service I have had in years!!! read more
