Welp, what can I say? This little hidden gem nestled in the already gem that is, Solvang is lovely. From someone who loves knives with a passion, it's a must stop everytime we come up from the city. I've purchased multiple high end knives from this great shop, from protechs, to zero tolerances, to spyderco's. Great selection of nice high end blades, yes priced a bit high but given the small family owned business and where it's at, it's justifiable. They also offer knife sharpening which I tried for the first time today 9-22-2025. Took my Chris Reeve inkosi to get touched up as well as purchased a nice Maxamet spyderco. The reason for the 3 Star review you may be wondering, is when I got to the car to inspect my freshly stoned Chris Reeve Inkosi and play with my new spyderco. Is when I inspected the sharpened knife I noticed an unfortunate scratch on the titanium grip near the blade. That was not there before, looks to have been knicked with a belt sander (which is what I'm assuming they use to sharpen). As it shows the direction of the unfortunate knick going in the direction of the blades cutting edge. Hurt the soul a little seeing that as that was a $630 knife that was approximately 2 months old. Not the end of the world as Chris Reeve knives are advertised as hard use folders that'll outlive their owner, still super unfortunate. Maybe let's be a touch more careful next time? Still won't hinder the way I think about the shop and won't stop me from coming back, but will think twice on having my high end blades sharpened love the new spyderco by the way!

Great selection of knives! There is something for everyone. Brought my dad in who is a knife enthusiast. The owner was very knowledgeable. She also went out of her way to show my dad rare knifes she sold. In addition, she has a amazing pup .

Huge selection and knowledgeable customer service. Ended up buying a couple new EDC's. Highly recommend this place.

Loved their greeter! Such a cute dog! Without even excepting it the owner showed us a little talent show staring his dog. So great! I stood there videotaping it totally into it. The store is very welcoming and the people who work there are very nice. We didn't buy a knife this time... Maybe next time we are in town. But it was definitely a great store to visit! They have incredibly beautiful knives. Swiss knives, switchblades, kitchen knives etc. The owner was very knowledgeable on knives.

Wanted to get a souvenir SAK while in Solvang. Kids ended up buying their first SAK. Jill was super nice, thanks for showing me the Benchmade 940 and Bugout!

Great selection, amazing customer service that goes above and beyond. They are limiting the amount of people in and taking all necessary precautions during Covid-19. They will make appts if need be. We where thrilled to find a left handed knife sheath which is something that most people may not appreciate but as 2 left handers its a huge thing!

The lady is super nice and willing to give discount but I'm aware of the prices so on my own opinion Knives are overpriced!

I forgot my belt at home. They sell adjustable belts and ties just in case for a decent price.

Ask the Community - Solvang Knives

Do they sharpen ceramic and serrated kitchen knives?

Hi Nick, we can hone serrated knives, but we cannot sharpen ceramic knives. Maybe check with shipping the knife to the company? Let me know if we can help with anything else,…

How much do they charge to sharpen a pocket knife?

We charge about $5 to sharpen a knife, including fixed blades, pocket knives and kitchen cutlery. -The SKE Team

I knew this was a good knife store since I seen quality production knives such as Benchmade, Spyderco, and some others.

My mom and her friend just went out on what was supposed to be one of my mom's first real pleasant outings in a while because my mom has had cancer and intense chemo. So they went to Santa Ynez. They purchased several items and my mom, who is 90, had clearly lost all her hair, looks very weak, pointed out to the woman behind the counter that she wanted to purchase an 8$ hand cream she was carrying around and was going to leave it at the counter. The woman ignored her so my mom kept shopping and carried it with her. At one point, my mom was looking at something so she put the hand cream in her purse so that she could use both hands. She and her friend bought many items INCLUDING the $8 hand cream. A week later, my mom brought me back to the store to get something she had been thinking about wanting to purchase. As soon as we walked into the store, the woman charged over to my mom and started berating her about putting the hand cream in her purse the week before. She threatened my mom that she was either going to ban her from the store or she would keep both of our purses as we shopped. We were shocked. My mom said calmly "I showed you the hand cream and told you I wanted to purchase it. And I paid for the hand cream along with the other items. Do you not remember that?" The woman kept berating my mom and said "but you put it in your purse! Who does that?" I said "Someone who is 90, has cancer, just had chemo, is weak and wants to use both hands to look at something and then takes the item out of her purse to purchase it and the other things she purchased!!! "... This didn't stop the woman's tirade. My mom gently said "do you honestly believe that at the end of the year, I would care about $8? Does that sound reasonable to you?" And the woman said " the conversation is over" and followed us around the store - literally - just followed us around the store. It was awful. My mom and I left, shaking. We have never been treated like that my anyone ever in a store. Save yourself from being treated like this. No business deserves customers who treats them like this.

I asked Dr. Leslie to help because after discussing my issues and concerns, it was clear that she had a very different approach to weight loss. It turns out that it was not how much I was eating (which is what I thought it was), it was WHAT I was eating. She gave me tools and resources as well as encouragement and support. As I learned to eat more plant-based and whole foods, the scale began to give me much better news. I got to my goal weight with relative ease. More importantly, I learned what to eat.
