This is a really cool shop in Pismo. We've actually been here many times when we come to the area, and it's our go-to spot for souvenirs and essentials. The employees are super nice and helpful, and they gave us some free stickers with our purchase! This time around, we got a really nice hoodie and a cool hat my husband had been wanting for a while. They have a lot of stock and plenty of sizes - I never have trouble finding my size like I would at other places. Would recommend stopping by, there's something here for everyone. read more

Panchos is a cool place to stop and check out while visiting downtown Pismo. The shop is split into two sides with the gals on the left side and guys on the right. On the day of my visit, there were employees on both sides. We visited for about 20 minutes and we were asked if we needed help one time. It's a great shop if you're looking for surfer/ocean style brands of clothing, hats & accessories. In the rear on the guys side, they have a decent selection of wetsuits, surf boards and body boards. They also have a large selection of skateboards and sunglasses. They're moderate to expensive on their prices, but that is to be expected considering they are located in a tourist area. Pancho's is an awesome shop! We had such a great experience today while visiting the store to buy our boys their first skateboards. It is their birthday's and they wanted boards. Josh was amazing and he was so patient with helping our kiddos pick out everything. He was knowledgeable and so kind to my boys. He really made it a memorable experience for them. As a mom I am so grateful for this. My kids walked out with awesome boards and huge smiles. Their store inventory is incredible with everything. While my wife and I were on our 5 year anniversary, we stopped by this place.. and the guys here educated us on what too get our teenager who recently got into skate boarding.. they took the extra step too install the bearings into the cruiser wheels which was super cool! I was in Pismo Beach and near the Pier. I stepped into the shop, Pancho's Surf shop, with the intent of purchasing board shorts. It had a clean and modern interior. The current Yelp reviews rave about the customer service. Hmmm... my experience was quite different. I was searching through the racks for board shorts. I went through a couple of racks to find several in my size. Even though there were 3 staff within 15 feet of me, none asked me if I needed help. Was I too cool for Pancho's?!? While I was looking through the racks, I did ask one if they have any larger than size 5. She replied "that's all we got" and walks off. I decided that I'll try another associate to ask for help to access a dressing room. That associate was all business and short on words.."Is that all you want to try on?", "Are you getting these?". By this moment in my shopping experience, I really wanted to walk out and not patronize them. But I was in need of board shorts and short on time. Not digging the vibe at Pancho's. But everyone's experience is different. Overall neat surf shop. Prices are comparable to other surf shops. They even occasionally line up pro surfer meet n greets. Awesome! Family was in from the northwest & we thought boogie boarding would be a good idea. We didn't get to Pancho's until 1 pm to get fitted for wet suits and grab a board. We were greeted with friendly, expedient service. The suits looked brand new & so did the boards. Because we got a late start the staff person gave us a little flexibility in returning the equipment. First time at Pismo beach and decided to stop at this shop with my friends, I was checking out the shirts only to realize an employee peeking through the surf boards watching me. I'm not sure if he was being paid extra by the company to be an associate and loss prevention but I moved to the left and he did the same, opening an gap between the boards to watch me kinda creepy if you ask me lol. Great little local surf shop, been around Pismo for years. I purchased a shirt for my toddler, I believe they start around $16. The sizes/colors are plentiful and the shop is really organized. I wish they had more styles of the mini hats but nonetheless great store. It can be overwhelming as they have so much inventory but if you take your time and take a relaxing stroll through the sections it's fun. I've only bought a shirt and a sweatshirt back in 2001 for myself when I was still in high school, but I wear them all the time on the weekends til today. They hold up nicely and become super soft. The flip flop/sandal sections are up to date with the newest styles. The swimwear is pretty decent. I think it's one of the better shops in downtown Pismo, check them out. read more

We were in Pismo during Labor Day weekend and decided to walk around to check out the local shops. We walked into Pancho's for old time's sake looking for some flip-flops. We were greeted as soon as we walked in by the staff. I was so excited when I saw they carried Flojo sandals. If you know you know. They let me try them on to make sure they fit and walah they did so I took them with me. We purchased a few shirts that had Poncho's on them to take with us as souvenirs. They have alot of inventory of t-shirts and the racks are over crowded. The prices were not unreasonable. This place definitely gave a cute surf shop vibe. My friends and I were only in Pismo for a few hours (after a 2+ hour drive from San Jose) so this was one of the few stores that were open (on yelp it says until 6 but in the summer they are open until 8 pm). We were only there to browse but I noticed they did have a nice selection of items. They have a whole wall just for flip flops, and the women's selection was pretty cute too. I'm not a surfer, but I'd come back here if I ever wound up in Pismo again. Customer service-wise, I only have two things to say. First, they don't really greet you as you walk in, which surprised me, because this seems to be the only Pancho's Surf Shop around so I assumed they would have a local surf shop vibe. They weren't rude, though. Just a neutral thing I guess. Second, I did purchase a gift for a friend & during check out I pulled my card out from the chip reader too soon, but the guy behind the register was really nice about it and explained the process about the refund, & even apologized for not telling me beforehand. Again, it didn't bother me because it was my fault, and I'm okay as long as I do get the money back for the 1st failed transaction (he said 3-5 days but I just checked my bank and it already showed up!). We also had a nice chat which cancels our the first one, because as a person who also works & deals with customer service, it's refreshing to be the one behind the register & get the same great service back. read more

Absolute great experience at Panchos! Not the cheapest place by any means, but a super nice staff and quality merchandise. The selection has something for everyone. I am big hat fan and was not expecting a surf shop to have the Chicano styles I like. I was also surprised to see Dog Town in their shop growing up in Venice seeing this in Pismo again a nice surprise. I was there for two nights and Doug was a very cool guy and easy to talk too. Ended up with two hats for myself and nice hoodie for my 15 year old daughter. She made sure we went back for it running a mile and half without stopping to the sand dunes. I lost the bet. My boyfriend and I stopped in here because we are surfers from down in Long Beach. The girls at the counter greeted us when we came in, and we walked around the shop. The decor was awesome and the boards on the ceiling were so rad! Then we checked out the boards and they had a huge selection. As we made our way back to the counter a worker was super helpful getting the hat I wanted. Also, one of the girls was super sweet and complimented my nails while she helped us pick out stickers! Pancho's Surf Shop is the only store I stop in near the pier @ Pismo beach. They have a huge and high quality selection of clothing, sandals, flip flops and everything imaginable related to beach sun and sports gear. Even though the little stretch of shops near the pier on Pomeroy Ave can look a bit worn down and sketch from the outside, the inside is kept up really well and you would think you were in an South OC surf shop once inside. About 6 months ago I walked in here looking for a hair rubber band to keep my hair tied back while I walked on the beach, and I purchased the only thing they had at the counter, a gellio pony tail holder for $2.50. I kind of thought it was ridiculous to pay $2.50 for a hair band but now that I have one, I seriously can not live without it. I know, so "First World", but I literally look for it frantically if I temporarily misplace it because it is so much more convenient than those goody brand type of hair bands. Ok so quick definition: a gellio is basically like one of those old telephone coiled cords from back in the 70's but instead of a long cord, it is made into a small circle. When used to tie hair up into a ponytail it grabs onto your hair immediately and holds it into a ponytail without having to twist and double up on it like a regular hair band which = convenience, ease and efficiency for a ponytail holder that goes on quickly and doesn't break or stretch! Worth the $2.50 each for the many uses I've gotten out of it and for the sheer convenience factor! The employees have been super nice on both of my visits. Wondered in here recently to look for a sweater for our son, and was impressed with this shop. Huge selection of clothes, boards, and accessories. What I was most impressed by was the old school skateboard completes around the shop. I grew up skating in the 80's through the late 90's so to see so many old set ups was really cool. My 13 year old son has decided to take up surfing, and he needed a wetsuit. Upon walking in the store, I was immediately greeted by Mike, who asked if I needed any help. Mike helped us find the perfect suit for my son, and even threw in a rash guard and a few stickers! He was very polite, and answered any questions we had.
