Horrible customer service, Alex D manager is an untrained in customer service lack of intelligence and most of all not an example to his employees. Declining my purchase of a kayak when I was inclined of his asking. Never ever in my life have I been denied to make a purchase in any stores. I had to make an report to the corporate office, whom took care of the customer and allowing the purchase to be processed to be picked up curbside. I will never shop at that store ever and encourage others to do the same. Also the boy that was at the front door sitting on a stool, not welcoming any customer coming nor noticing customers walking out with alarm buzzing as cashier failed to remove sensor off items. I watched for 20 mins while waiting for the boy Manger to come to the register, the boy on the stool was texting on his phone not once's looking up at any customers while being on his social media. Its a bright shiny new store! Its still pretty clean although its less organized than the first time I swung through here about two months ago, which means its beginning to look like all the other sporting goods stores in Stockton. On the plus side Dick's offers a variety of athletic apparel including North Face (today I unexpectedly found a pair of really cute shorts) and Lucy (which one of my friends loves and tells me she usually has to order online). Service is fairl to low-average. The staff were not familiar with the various product lines and were not able to answer questions about the items I was interested in. Also, the first time I came here I was looking for a lacrosse ball, which Dick's does not carry (at the time the store manager remarked they carried 'almost every other type of ball but that one'). If I could give this place a zero I would. 1. During the holiday season why would you have only 3-4 people working in the store? Security guard helped me find what I needed instead of one of their employees 2. 15 people in line to pay and only 1 person working the register. That's okay I have an hour to wait here. Lol. 3. I went to exchange my shoes. The gentleman at the counter seemed like he hated life. I asked how he was doing, and he just said "good," but in a rude, angry way. We stood there a bit with no acknowledgement, and the "closed" employee stated at her computer with another employee, then one folded a return and the other started at a clipboard. I went in yesterday to look at the mountain bike selection they had because the bike shop on hammer ln seamed a little over priced. There was a little clutter in the isles I had to move - 1 star. They had a good selection (3-4) of frame sizes per bike model of the two I was comparing. I can't remember the guy's name who helped me but he answered my questions (didn't b.s. Me on the one he didn't know) and they go through the bike visual and functions and fix anything you find before you pay. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!!! Took my bike in for a tune up. The bike tech popped 2 inner tubes and split my tire. They ordered a new tire for me and said it would be arriving in 7-10 days. I went in on day 10 and its not here. I was told that they have no control over it and don't know when it would arrive. The most they can do for me is give me the tire at 50% off even though they are COMPLETELY at fault. Never shopping here again and would recommend that everyone else do the same. read more

Well, our trip to Dicks was a disappointment. If the name of the store reflects the attitudes of the staff, then well done. We drove two hours to look at ice skates last week. It was surprisingly hard to find Dicks in Stockton, but we tracked what appeared to be a huge Dicks at the mall. When we entered we were greeted by a friendly, yet vertically challenged young man working the register. We asked him where the ice skates were, only to see a look on his face like we kicked his pet hamster. After some musing and help from his secret service-esque radio, we were pointed in a general direction. We headed that way to no avail. We eventually found another Napoleonic character at the other end of the store who took us to the ice skating area (seriously, do you only hire little associates? Not that size matters, but given your name and all...) He pointed us to two sets of skates they had in stock. Even though their website advertised they fitted and could order skates, little mowgli at the store informed us they could not, and further suggested we should have called ahead. Not wanting to commit a felony we left. Seriously though, if you are going to advertise yourself as the one stop shop for something, you should probably carry it, or have employees that pretend they care. A waste of time, and I am not sure how they run a store with only two oompa loompa's. Don't waste your time, you can do better than Dicks in Stockton. read more

I looked around online to see what I could get it for and I found prices a little cheaper at another place and Dick's price matched without any issues. Dave the head manager was the most unprofessional, rude manager I have ever dealt with. Making customer and employees feel stupid is plain ridiculous. If your adds and store advertisement matched maybe there wouldn't be an issue. We purchased an item that said it received a mail in rebate (according to the store advertisement) so we asked how it works to claim it. The staff at the register (who was filling in at the register/works in sports department) didn't know so they asked the manager. He came out and didn't even greet us (looked at the Black Friday sale advertisement that we had and informed us rudely that we get a cash card) my husband than stated that we don't care which one we get we just wanted to know what we had to do. Dave gave us a look of disgust and rudely stormed off to go ask someone else for help. Came back a few minutes later and said we get a rebate. Never said have a nice day, apologize or anything that would be a proper way to manage a store. I will not go back after seeing how he treats his guest or his employees. Maybe you should hire someone that will respect your employees and the customers and run a store professionally. As a manager of a childcare center I would expect to loose my job if I handled a situation or staff similar to the way this man choose to. My husband deals with criminals all day. The last thing he needs to deal with is a rude store manager. You can guess that we will not be back to this location. Visited the Stockton store. They're black Friday was suppose to start at 9pm to match out of states stores coz of the time difference. I waited a hour to purchase items waiting for the sale to be lied to that that's not happening by the manager which was a lie. After telling him I saw clerk giving sales special to customers he told me to fuck off. He said he wasn't going to deal with my sale. I was there to purchase a $199 22 rifle. 6 box of 22 ammo. Monocular. A scop.e turkey call. Knife sharpener. Blue tooth speaker and additional ammo. The manager told me my money was no good there to fuck off thay he will not do the sale at 9 which I was there from 830 to 925pm. He quote. I received a gift from Dick's a few months ago. I went to exchange it but they didn't have want I wanted. I went back a few weeks later and what I wanted was still out of stock. I went back today and they finally had what I wanted. Went to the register to exchange it and was told, sorry it's been longer than 90 days, even though the item I had still had the tags and they still stock it. Nice selection but they do not honor manufacturer's warranty at this store unlike REI. Bought a pair of hiking boots and one of the shoelace clips broke off the first time I used them. The manufacturer has a 1 year warranty on manufacturer defects and they require the shoes to be returned to the retailer. Dick's would not take them back because they had been worn once and looked dirty. They are hiking boots, there is dirt when you hike...the dirt gets on the shoes. I contacted the manufacturer who immediately replaced the shoes after I told them I bought them at Dick's. They are very familiar with Dick's in this regard and suggested that I purchase directly from them or shop at REI in the future. I prefer to purchase from a company who stands behind the product they are selling. Sorry Dick's, that's the last purchase I will ever make at one of your stores. read more

Went to buy a pair of golf shoes! Had the Sunday Big5 ad, Dick's wanted $60 for a pair of shoes Big5 had on sale for $44. Asked the "golf pro" if they price match, he seemed kind of annoyed at the question but said they do, but only if it's the exact same model and if you bring the paper ad in, they won't do it if it's online? Told him no problem, I have the paper ad! Went to pay, they called the manager to verify, she looked at the ad, then the shoes, she also seemed annoyed. She asked me if it was a current ad, I said it was and showed her the date, she said oh yes it is, pulled the shoes out, looked at them again,she verified they were the same shoe. At this point I'm thinking have they ever price matched an item before? This shouldn't be that difficult. Then she says oh we can't price match this, the Big5 price is a "special" sale price, we only price match "regular" sale prices? What kind of stupid logic is that? The Big5 sale was a 4 day end of the year sale, there was no special price at special hours, etc? Either way she said no go, so whatever, off to Big5 I go! Way to treat your customers like they owe you their business lady, never going to another Dick's, especially not with a Big5 down the street and a Sports Authority across town! My boyfriend bought me the cutest Nike work out clothes set at Dicks. After one wear and wash the top elastic on the pants was ripped. As soon as I realized it we took it in with the receipt to exchange. The manager was called out only to reassure us what the original girl told us was true. $300 of clothing... $60 pair of pants and they will not take back anything that isn't able to be sold again. Really! Worn and washed once and it's ripping. ..obviously a defective pair. How are you going to run a business and not take care of your costumers. In the 4 months the store has been open we have spent over $500. After this they will not get another dime from us. The woman manager wasn't helpful and actually rude. If you decide to spend your money here good luck if you have any problems with it. I just can't believe that. I've never had a problem returning items before anywhere else. Good selection and prices, very poor staff. I saw one of Dick's ads for a gun safe that I had decided on. Went to the store this afternoon and after standing around the gun counter for several minutes, I walked to the front and asked the security guy in the yellow shirt if there was someone who could help me with a gun safe. He mumbled something and got on his store radio so I walked back to the gun counter. Waited several minutes, and saw one of the sales people wander by like he had forgotten where he parked his car. He was gone before I could catch him. After no one showed up for another 10 minutes, I left the store. Was there to get my son his 1st gun. Instead of a pleasant experience, we left without a gun after being scolded in front of other customers. Manager asked who was paying and I said I'll just put it on my card since I'm buying other things also. Geez you would have thought I stole something. He accused us of making a straw purchase( which I had no idea what that was until I got home and looked it up). I explained that all we are doing is buying my son a gun, in his name, his background check etc... He then refused to sell my son a gun as long as he is a manager there. That's ok because we just went elsewhere and got the same gun $50 cheaper. All he had to do was explain to me what was going on instead of being big boss man with an attitude. I added up my receipts this year alone and it's in the thousands at that store from sports to ammo and a few shotguns, never again will our family step foot in there. read more
