I came in here to get a tennis racket for my son and I felt like we were annoying them with basic questions like "where are the tennis rackets" . It is amazing to me that even during covid and lack of customers how they can be so dismissive of people. We ended up getting a racket but will not be coming back nor will I recommend it. We could have gotten a new one for a few dollars more online and not had to deal with people who didn't want to help us. I walked in one day after getting ice cream with my kids. The staff is pretty helpful and the store is clean. They even have a cute dog! I found some soccer poles (for drills) and there were 2 sets that were priced differently. After asking why they were priced differently I was advised one set had 4 poles and the other 6. I figured the 4 pole set was a good deal so I bought it. A few weeks later I take the poles out to practice with my kids and one pole is broken. The elastic band in the middle of the pole that binds it together was completely missing. I would have to tape it together to be able to use the pole. Bummer on me for not checking before I bought them but shame on PIAS for selling broken equipment. read more

We live in Elk Grove and our kids had a lacrosse game in Stockton. When we got to the game both our boys realized they forgot their cleats. I called play it again sports and Louie was super helpful! He looked through the cleats and found a pair in a each my boys sizes to make sure I wouldn't drive there for nothing. We got there, the boys tried on the cleats and we were out the door in less than 5 minutes!! And it only cost $35 for both pairs!! A couple of weekends ago, after stuffing my face with dim sum at Dynasty, I had a wild idea to walk over to Play It Again Sports to 'burn' some food off. If you know the area, its about 30 steps. The irony of this is... is that we were looking for a couple of things, on full bellies and obviously not going to put 'said' sports equipment to frequent use. Basically, we're fat. Yeah, I've said it before, I'll say it again. We're fat. I have been after a badminton set for a while. You don't see those too often. Especially at Macy's. I'm kidding, you dip wad. AND one of those 'wave' 2 wheeled skate boards. Yeah, I've been pretty adventurous. My husband looked at kayaks and I asked about skis. We walked out with (yes, we paid) a CHAMPIONSHIP badminton set, and a super light racquet, watch out, I'm pretty good. They had the WAVE, but I really wanted to see the video before buying a $90 skate board. The owner asked if all of the items we were looking for were for our kids. God bless him, I said, that we are 'the kids'. The store can get a bit cramped and you might be better off asking for help instead of browsing. read more

I put some old snowboarding boots up for consignment here. They fetched a decent price and I got 50 bucks for the two pairs after the store got their cut. My only problem was that they made me come back twice to collect my dough because on 2 occasions the check-writer wasn't there. The staff is nice enough and they're always looking for your old sports equipment. If you keep your expectations low then you'll be fine, cash for your old clutter is always a good deal. You know that weight bench you got in your garage? When's the last time you used that? Now you just use it for hanging clothes or something to put your groceries bags on the way to the kitchen. Get rid of it! Their gear is always seasonal so there's tons of snowboards in the winter and now they're stocked up with wakeboards and surfboards. If you are in the market, theres tons of sports equipment thats still usable for half the price of what you'd pay at Sears or Sports Authority. I'd recommend you look for a treadmill or exercise bike before you hit up the chain stores. Not everything they sell is used, some protective equipment (gloves, etc) and other clothing seems to be brand new I don't know if their prices are any lower than other stores however. read more

I love this place they have a large large selection of sports equipment at verry great prices. But more importantly they stand by their products. I bought into golf clubs recently and in both cases they broke under normal wear and tear within a few days of having them. Now I understand these are used clubs that they have taken in from other people and they were so gracious and understanding they allowed me to return each one for a full refund which I instinctively turn around and bought another club as replacement. That policy alone will keep me as a customer and I will always go to them first for anything I might need. read more

Don't you EVER go to this store unless if you are a complete expert in your sport. Bought an used pair of skis from this guys, they did A LOT of advertisement about the GREAT DEAL that they were offering. But NO ONE INFORMED ME THAT NO SKI SHOP WOULD TOUCH the binders because they were too old. It is a safety measurement to have your binders adjusted accordingly, but you can't do it if no professional would. Completely scam, just looking for selling stuff and not with being honest. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP. When O tried to call they were VERY RUDE and said that this was ALL MY FAULT. Just stay away and try to find a decent shop. You can pay more, but will be better and safer. read more

I sold an item on consignment they take half the money it is sold for. The cashier said " we don't call you, you call us to see if it is sold". So I checked in once a month for two months and on the 3rd month I called they said, "oh it sold last month you can come get your check we close at 7pm. " When I go in a few hours later they inform me ownership changed 2 weeks ago and a check was not made out for me so I need to come back tomorrow but they will call me the following day. Of course I didn't get called but after calling them and going back the next day I did get my money but I felt like overall they are unprofessional. read more

I was quite pleased with the friendly service I received yesterday at Play it Again sports. My wife and I were looking to buy a couple of discs for our disc golf adventure in Stockton, being were from Elk Grove, and don't have anywhere here that has a wide variety of discs let alone used ones. The prices were so reasonable that we both bought two discs instead of the one each we had budgeted for! It's one of those stores that has so much to offer that we had to stay focused on what we were there for or else could easily get carried away spending. They gave us a card that gets stamped for every disc you purchase and after so many you get a free disc! Kinda like Starbucks does. Still not impressed with the store. I went in to look for a weight bench that I had found on Amazon for a lot less and free shipping. The bench was very over priced. I looked around the rest of the store and realized all the new equipment was very over priced, as well. The weights and bars can be had for a lot less at other sports store in town. I was just in the new and improved Play it again sports in Stockton. I must say the customer service was great we went to the store not exactly sure what we were needing for my kids who were starting baseball for the first time, the employees were very friendly and very helpful since we weren't really sure what we needed. My family and I will definitely be coming back, especially when we gather up some of our used sports equipment to sell/trade for some new gear. I would definitely recommend giving this store a shot before the going to the department stores. read more

These people will totally try to lowball you. I took in a Nike Str-8 fit driver, that was in great condition and sells brand new for $149. They offered me $25. When I checked their rack they were selling the same driver for $89.99. I know they're in business to make a profit, but that high of a markup is ridiculous. Better off selling your used goods on craigslist. read more

We went in there looking for golf clubs for my daughter, and we ended up leaving with an entire home gym. The majority of the more expensive items are brand new which struck me as kind of odd for a used sports store. When I asked the gentlemen about that he gave me two reasons. 1) There is no way to get a steady supply of used products, and it's even more impossible to predict when someone wants to get rid of their old equipment. 2) When people choose to buy a piece of equipment that is generally expensive they usually desire a warranty to reassure themselves, and the only way to get a warranty is to buy it new. It makes sense to me. The service was good. The lady that I assume runs the store was very nice to me and my wife. She and the other gentleman answered all the questions that we had and stayed with us until we were ready. We did shop around before looking for home gyms at Sports Authority but their prices were always fluctuating and they were never consistent with their prices. I've bin buying sports gear from Play It Again Sports for the last 3 years and have always bin very pleased with everything no complaints at all there staff is great. I've never had sold any sports items to them at all till now I went in there about a month ago or so and I sold my first items to them like golf clubs some baseball gloves and a Slow Pitch softball ball Bat which was still in great shape still had a lot of pop in it they gave me store credit for everything so they only gave me 25$ store credit for that bat so I was thinking they only sale it for like 60-80$ in there store I went back want to buy a baseball glove and look for a softball bat I went in there and saw my bat that I sold them still on the shelf I looked at the price tag and they wanted $180.00 for the same bat they gave me $25 for I was very upset and disappointed wish I would have got more money for it they real ripped me if on that sale read more
