The 5.11 store in Turlock is absolutely amazing. Their selection is great and their products are more in line with Columbia and Eddie Bauer, except sturdier. I used to drive hours to go to the Eddie Bauer outlet and I don't have to now! I do a lot of outdoor activities; hiking, fishing, walking, traveling, going to the outdoor gun range, etc. Their clothes are extremely practical for these activities. Comfortable and they keep the sun off of you. They fold neat and are lightweight for travel. I even have my wife, daughters, sons, son-in-law and grandchildren getting into the 5.11 mode. My grandson loves the caps that have cool Velcro patches you can interchange. 5.11 gift certificates are always a go-to option for birthdays, etc. As far as customer service, they are beyond great. At Eddie Bauer and Columbia I get the obligatory "hello" and "welcome to the store." That's it. 5.11 employees know their stuff and go out of their way to tell you about deals and new products. The manager in Turlock, Alexandra, is an absolute gem. I have gotten to know her and Stephanie (another great lady) from shopping at the store. This company has its imperfections but the factory stores and every single employee was the best. They went above and beyond to help me with a factory defect on some pants I have been wearing since 2013. We came here on November 5, 2021 from Fremont so that my boyfriend could check out their selection of backpacks for our trip in December. The store was a tad bit smaller than we expected from the outside; we were hoping that it would be a bit larger, however there was a wide variety of items inside ranging from shirts to shoes to backpacks. The items here are a bit on the pricey end but this is tailored more to law enforcement. After we paid for our purchases, my boyfriend got the patch of the month for free which was pretty cool. read more

This is pertaining to online ordering. They had a sale going on so I ordered hoodies. Online shows all available on my size. Days later, I get confirmation that it has shipped. A few days past and so I checked for status from the tracking#... no movement. I contacted customer service for an update... they said 3 were out of stock and that the rest will be expedited...so I got my refund. I waited for another few days, and only 1 arrived. I contacted CS again and said the other was out of stock and that I'll get another refund. I waited close to a week waiting for refund. I contacted CS again for status of refund... they forgot. I am highly disappointed in this store, especially after all of the hype that came along with it; "400,000 sq ft 5.11 facility will be amazing!!" Well, I stopped in and I was shocked by how small the store is. I've been to the 5.11 store in Sacramento, and this store seems TINY when compared to the Sac store. When I stepped foot in the door, I was looking to buy some uniform items, and the kids working here were really clueless about the products being offered in the store. But then again, I shouldn't be expecting tactical experts to be working in retail, so it's whatever. I made a lap around the store to see where everything was, and I noticed that there is a VERY limited selection of uniform items. Do you like to look like a total badass by wearing anything and everything with a 5.11 logo? Well, good news for you! The great majority of the clothing they have in-store is comprised of chinos, jeans, button-ups, t-shirts, polos, and regular workout clothes. Do you work in law enforcement? You'll find a few work pants, uniform shirts, holsters, and plate carriers for you SWAT people. EMS/Fire? Look elsewhere; they had nothing related to EMS or Fire in the store. Military? You can find some militaryesque pieces of equipment, though I highly doubt you'll get away with wearing them as uniform items. Are you a tacticool former Navy Ranger SEAL? Man, you'll be in heaven. Just checked out the store this week and it is awesome. I was impressed by the amount of workout clothing, jackets, jeans and accessories (hats, belts, socks, patches, etc). They had a lot more then just tactical gear. I purchased a few pairs of chinos and they are my new favorite pants to wear to the office. It was great to to try them on before purchasing. They also had a bunch of women's clothing as well. I will be back to get a few more colors of there chinos. read more

Aside from the store and dressing rooms being super clean, everyone was really kind and professional. They were very VERY helpful!! My man ordered some tactical pants online but they didn't fit so we were able to exchange them without a problem. The only things that sucks is that they have A LOT of great clothing and merchandise for men but only a little corner of the store is woman attire. She did call the other 5.11 store near by(50 min. drive) so they could put my size on hold and I could do an exchange as well. I am not a fan of 5.11 uniforms. For them being geared towards first responders, it's amazing how unpractical some of their uniforms are. Their bdu shirt pocket doesnt even fit a notepad or small smart phone. The stretchy waist on the pants sucks too as I find myself always having to pull my pants up. Their class b type traditional uniforms also have so much rubber near the waistband area that it adds an inch to your waistline. Very uncomfortable when a duty belt is set to a certain size. I've been told by uniform shops that their uniforms are harder to tailor as well. I've had one 5.11 uniform which has faded over the last few years of light wear. read more

I was in the Modesto office taking a meeting when I overheard one of the employees talking with a co-worker about a new windbreaker they offered. Although I didn't ask him and I just listened, he talked about being out on the lake fishing and it was windy..very very windy and cold and he had the windbreaker and his buddy had 2 sweaters. He stated he was warmer than his friend. I had a meeting there and inquired on a few products. I wanted a pair of waterproof shoes and asked about the mysterious windbreaker that was new. The manager recommended 2 products. The Range Master shoe and the Cascadia Windbreaker. Let me tell you......AMAZING and far exceeds my expectations. The shoes are great, good style, comfortable, good sole for outdoors and yes, waterproof. However, the Cascadia Windbreaker is the best and now my favorite jacket. Light weight, it's been raining here so the water beads right off and doesn't soak in, has a hood with slight bill on it, chest pocket for cell phone and insert hole for headphones to be concealed. Also, the pockets have zip cords in them to tighten up the waist band and has internal zippers in the pockets to have access to the waistband of your jeans in the event you have a CCW. Solid black with a 5.11 logo and black patch on the right arm. You won't be disappointed. Check it out, if you are outdoors and in the rain, wind, whatever, Range Master shoes and Cascadia Windbreaker. Order them! read more

Worst company regarding returns. Impossible to deal with how long it takes to get a credit for returned items.

I've been using 5.11 gear for the past four years. If I would have written this review two years ago, it would have been five stars. However, within the last year or so, the overall quality of the company has deteriorated. Let's start with the good stuff... The majority of their products are top quality. Tactical pants/shorts, polos, belts, eyewear, and footwear are awesome. Covert casual shirts are good and have all the features one needs for concealed carry. Range gear is excellent. Bottom line, you can't go wrong buying a 5.11 product. Customer service is great. I've never had a problem returning or exchanging something ordered off their website. Now for the bad stuff... Prices are outrageously expensive. I have observed regular price hikes on all products over the past two years to the point where it's getting ridiculous. Yes, the products are good, but give me a break. Covert casual shirts used to sell for $39.99 four years ago, and now they're $64.99! I would also argue that the quality of the shirts in that time has actually decreased. I blame the price increases on the poor business climate in California. The products are still manufactured mostly in southeast Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, etc.), and I haven't noticed similar increases in other products I see coming from those countries. I hate to say this, but I believe 5.11 thinks they can get away with the higher prices because most of their customers are government agencies that have no problem spending more and more taxpayer money. If this keeps up, the civilian customers will be forced to look for alternative products. The 5.11 web sales guys used to be great. If you had a question about a product, they would happily exchange email after email addressing your concerns. Now, whenever I contact sales to ask a question, I feel like I'm at a car dealership. I'm constantly getting sold on products that don't have anything to do with my original question. Finally, I think a lot of 5.11's recent problems have to do with the change in CEO back in late 2011. Dan Costa was a genius and truly passionate about the products and company he created. Tom Davin has a long pedigree of leadership positions at various companies, but I just don't get the feeling anymore that 5.11 is a company with a mission. Now they're just focused on selling as much stuff as they can. In a nutshell, convince Costa to return as CEO and move the company to a business-friendly state to lower the operating costs. read more

Ok, I LOVE 5.11 products. I wear them regularly for my volunteer work as a paramedic and even casually at times. The phone and email support is incredible most of the time. So, why oh why, do I give them a 2 star review? Quite simply, it's because their order fulfillment/shipping is beyond horrendous. Orders usually take nearly a week before they are shipped. The shipping charges are usually expensive, unless you order enough for free shipping. The standard shipping (FedEx ground) leaves a lot to be desired as our local FedEx ground delivery is poor. Upgrading to USPS Priority Mail is your best bet, although a small package cost me well over $15 in shipping, eating up any discounts that I had, especially since 5.11 still charges local sales tax for internet orders. In short, buy 5.11 from a local retailer to save yourself the headaches of their poor order fulfillment and shipping. read more

Wow. I wished I knew about this spot a long time ago. The only 5.11 store I thought existed was the one in Sacramento. Come to find out that this store is the main distribution warehouse. They have awesome stuff, my only beef is that they are limited in their larger sizes. They have damn near every accessory, backpack, bag, plate carrier you could ever need...or want. The staff here is pretty awesome as well, one associate in particular really stands behind the brand, she showed me several of her own modifications to the existing products. I was able to find a few items and look forward to getting more, just on her recommendations and positive attitude. Definitely check this spot out for your tactical needs. read more

I purchased a pair of pants and apparently, I accidentally click on the wrong size thru the internet. I called them up and they sent me the correct size and I returned the wrong size the next day after I received it. They were fast and efficient and understood that I blew the order which they were very nice. Definitely would order from them again. They are not inexpensive, but the quality is very high. read more

Great products, but WOW their customer service stinks! Husband was notified he may be deployed to Puerto Rico after the hurricane. He ordered pants 7 days ago. We paid $25.95 for one day shipping. The policy stated that orders received after 1:00 pm would be shipped the following day. 4 days later, sent email to customer service, even mentioning the Puerto Rico deployment. The only response I've had from them was an automated email response saying they'll look into it. 3 days later, still nothing. I called and got the message to call back during business hours - it was 4:30 Pacific time, and they close at 5:00! Someone went home early. These guys are unbelievably great. Awesome products, great pricing, and the ease of customization was incredible. We had shirts made/embroidered for our department through them, and the customer service was great through and through. There was a slight error on one of the shirt sizes, and they shipped another correct size out to us immediately, free of charge, and let us keep the other one. I use their pants, boots, and shirts for all my fieldwork and they are all functional, professional, and durable. They have products for both field and casual use, and I've got nothing but great things to say about everything that I've bought from them. I personally own many of their accessories (sunglasses, belts, knives, mag pouches, etc.) and they all work and look great. Just to give another example of their customer service - I screwed up and scratched one of the lenses on a pair of sunglasses (the Shear model, which are awesome, btw) that I had bought from one of their distributors less than a month ago. I called 5.11 direct to see if I could send them in for repair, and they told me that although they don't have a repair facility, they'd ship me a new pair, absolutely free, and have me return my existing (scratched lens) pair. You just don't see customer service like that anymore. These guys have definitely earned a life-long customer out of me, and I refer everyone in not only the public safety sector but also the general public to check out their products as well. read more

I paid black Friday price and they want to charge me regular price now. No explanation as to why the item was canceled other than they couldn't 'fulfill' it. I love their product but I ordered 8 pants online (different styles with multiple sizes) and figured I could return or exchange at the store. After receiving my shipment, I made the hour drive to the nearest store in attempt to exchange for the correct sizes but NO! "It's our policy that we can't return OR exchange online orders in store." DO NOT ORDER ONLINE... Horrible company and customer service. I ordered EMT pants for work over too weeks ago and they still have not shipped. Each time I have called their customer service, I have been put on hold for 15-25 minutes depending on when I give up and decide to call again another time. When they finally answered I got the same spiel that my purchase will be shipped out within 3 days.... well obviously that was not happening. When I asked to cancel the order they refused to cancel and return my money, claiming that I would have to pay return shipping and send them back to get my money back (but if they havent shipped yet why the hell would I waste my money like that)... I want to give them five stars because they have stellar products, but their shipping and service is awful! I keep getting emails every 4-5 days saying they haven't shipped, yet. I can appreciate getting backed up and was trying to place another order because of a sale they have. I don't want to order the same items I already did, but the order confirmation gives very little info and when you click to see the order, nothing comes up but a blank screen that says, it's being processed. I called several times and kept getting disconnected. The first guy didn't speak English and I had to spell Heather for him three times, then repeat the order number four times. He couldn't pull the order up, then I was disconnected. I called back and got a woman who was rude. I gave her my name, and we were disconnected again. I give up! If my order was just for me, I'd cancel it, but my husband loves their pants and he looks great in them. I'll keep waiting, but I won't be ordering again. I personally would not buy anything else from this company at all. Over the yrs I have bought many pants,boots,lights and other stuff. Never have I been treated as bad, as I have in the last month. Long story short- Jan 2nd 2020 I called because a light I had that was still under warranty was breaking apart at the top. I spoke with a lady explained the deal to her. She told me to email her pics of the light, So her and the team could look at it. She did say it might take a few days. No problem, She emailed me back the same night. I was thinking wow this is going to be easier then I thought. She said hey I am not sure and neither is the team what's going on with the light. But we don't make that one any more,but we are going to replace it with another one. I thought wow 1 they got back to me really fast and 2 this will be easier then I thought. Ya RIGHT!!! I had not heard anything for a couple weeks after the first email. So I called, the story at this time was it takes 7 to 15 days (Business) no problem we was only at like 10. Waited another full week, still nothing!! So I call back again, this time I was told the light was out of stock. Ok understood, I ask when it might be back in stock. I waited about another 2 weeks, nothing called back. This time I was told the light was back in stock and would ship that day. Yay I thought ok, I will have a working good light again. They assured me I would have a tracking number at the end of the day. No tracking number came, so I called them back again. This time I was told the light was never in stock and they did not know why the rep told me that. But I was also told they was unable to ship the light, due to the battery;s it came with. They said they would have someone contact me and figure out whats going on. Well 5-11 I am still waiting on that call, it never came. Christmas of 2020 is on the way. I waited another week, called back. The next lady said hey the light was in stock and would put a rush on it. Ya rush from where a Slow boat from china. Still no tracking number, I waited a couple days called back again. Got a hold of another woman in a different department. She told me the light was in, and she also agreed to have it shipped over night. She would get back to me with a tracking number. Never got it, and waited again a couple more days. I called her back, she was unsure why the light was not going out. She was going to call the warehouse and talk to them. I still never heard anything, at this point we are now in early feb and still no light. Just yesterday Feb 10th 2020 I was assured again, this light would go out and she would get back to me with a tracking number. She said she did show the light picked up ready to ship.
