I was referred to this wonderful place by Meat Church when I was looking for their rub called Holy Cow. It was back ordered a few times I tried to order it directly online from them so they referred me to check with Dickson BBQ who are located in Toronto. I haven't physically been in their store but looks like they have everything from A-Z concerning bbq/smoking with fair prices paired with fair shipping charges. I ordered the rub and also a butcher paper roll which for the latter I was having a real hard time getting my hands on from either Traeger or their distributor here in Laval, Qc. This place now has a special place in my bbq/smoking book because of their wide brand selection and Canada exclusive Meat Church products. It's really worth checking out their site if you need to expand your horizon in this domain. Above all, what makes them special in my books is their superb customer service. Communication is much easier by email than phone and I was just wowed when they replied to my emails in a short period of time and sometimes late at night. Great place to get your BBQ needs. They always seem to have in stock what other larger box BBQ stores don't. Places like BBQ World have no idea what you are talking about and yet Dickson's staff always do. Not the easiest place to get to from Pickering but I find it is worth the effort. Highly recommend this store and all BBQ enthusiasts need to support it because we will regret it if Dickson's ever shuts down. read more

This hardware store is much bigger than it seems from the outside. It goes waaay back and also has a basement. They have a little bit of everything, and the service ranged from kind of apathetic to very good (I called first to see if they had what I needed.) They have a good supply of seasonal home and garden stuff. There's also parking next door, and you can get your ticket validated. read more

So this really happened today. I live approx 2 hours from the store. Called them to see if a certain Weber model was in stock. Was told it wasn't in stock at the store but it was at the warehouse 15 min drive away. Asked if I could pay for my item over the phone and was told that I'd have to come in to the store, pay for it and then go to the warehouse to pick it up. When I got to the store I was told the item wasn't in fact in stock at the warehouse. The sales lady showed me another model that was approximately $100 more. I decided on that model only to be told when I was about to buy it that they had made a mistake on the price and it was in fact almost $200 more than the one I originally wanted. Not showing anything resembling good customer service, they let me walk out the door without so much as an apology, a break on the price or the offer of a bag of charcoal for my trouble. This store and their lack of customer service is exactly why I don't live in the city. Shoppers beware of this place. read more

I was recently in the market for a new gas BBQ and was having trouble deciding which grill I wanted to buy. I was pretty sure I wanted a Weber as they have been amazing in the past. I wasn't sure exactly which model to buy. After speaking with a very knowledgeable staff member they pointed me toward the Weber Genesis 335SE based on the amount of cooking I do and the amount of people I will be cooking for. I recently purchased a natural gas BBQ from Dickson online. First I called and spoke with a really knowledgeable sales rep who led me in the right direction and assisted me in choosing the right BBQ. It was delivered assembled, they came through the backyard, put the BBQ up on the deck, ensured it was set up properly with the gas line and showed us how to use it. They stock the parts! Only dealt with Barbeque and Gas Grill side of store. Refurbishing a nice Weber Genesis needing new flavour bars, cooking grids and some small bits. First off, I did my research and already knew more or less exactly what I needed & the three highly recommended GTA specialty stores I could go. So I called them all in advance. Only these fellows here had a good, varied parts selection, forthright advice, and listened to the details. The other places seemed on the phone less interested and helpful with my questions so they must make their money A) selling the priciest new barbeque or B) selling really expensive barbeque pick up and repair service. Good stores perhaps, but they were just not serving my niche in their business plan and the nice old grill I was repairing myself was unimportant. Only Dicksons BBQ department had more than adequate choices of repair hardware to walk out with everything I need, not feeling misguided. Great advice. Efficient supportive service. I saved about 50 dollars choosing to go here VS the other two stores, plus they gave me some small parts free that probably worth another 10 bucks. Hard to find such good help these days and I would say try their helpful store next time. I may buy a charcoal grill there. PS this place supports tons of Weber since that company sort of 'owns the whole category' of unbeatable quality grills for their price point. Easy to maintain yourself and get parts. If I were buying new I'd get a Weber Spirit 310 (3 burner model) and just upgrade for a better cooking grid, all I'd ever need. Stainless exteriors don't add flavour, but are pretty. read more

I recently purchased a Weber Genesis barbecue from Dixons while I was at the Toronto Home Show. Shortly afterwards they called to arrange a delivery date and time. Everything went according to plan and a week after my purchase my new bbq was delivered and ready to go. They set it up to the gas line, walked me through how to use it, how to care for it, and to call if I needed anything else. I know it sounds so simple but today service as such isn't so common. read more

Darren was so very helpful and was able to fill the order I needed and took so much of his time to help me out. He went above and beyond to facilitate my demanding needs for quick turnaround and had the product that I needed. Great place to shop for anything from plumbing supplies to kitchen stuff, paints, etc etc...svc is top notch and they don't try and get away from you when you approach them like at Home Depot. Get your exercise elsewhere from walking 2 miles to buy 1 thing with shitty svc at Home Depot and come here. It is a great place. read more

Talked to Tony the owner one day and ordered barbecue, and to accommodate me coming from out of town, the next day he met me where they were setting up for a show and barbecue went from his truck to mine; no muss, no fuss, no attitude ... and great pricing to boot. BBQ side of business seems to be a smooth operation but the hardware store has very poor service and attitude

HORRENDOUS customer service. I was told delivery was free but then I had to pay $40 for someone to take the wheels off of the bbq to fit through my balcony door. When I called, spoke to owner and he agreed a 15 second job (that my husband could have done) costed me $40. I was told I had to pay for "assembly on site because of the width of the patio door" when they got here the entire bbq was assembled and all they had to do was take the wheels off. So again $40 to have wheels (2 out of 4) taken off and put back on in 30 seconds. That was assembly on site. Granted they also put on side tables and knobs but again that would not have effected the width so that didn't have to be done on site that could have been done in their store and then delivered. I would never recommend this business they are RUDE, UNPROFRESSIONAL and their quality of service is DISGUSTING. They will suck every cent from you. I purchased a $2000 bbq plus $1000 worth of accessories with no incentive. They will take every penny and gauge you. read more

My family patronized this store as we feel that it's important to support small businesses. I also felt that I would receive professional personal service. My recent experience tells me I was wrong. I needed to buy a new shower handle for my mother and brought the old one in with me to ensure that I got the right product. Instead I found out from the manufacturer that I was sold a bathroom sink tap handle instead. When I first called the store after finding out it was not the right handle, the manager kept asking me who had helped me - name, description, clothing etc - so that he could figure out who had done this. After sending photos and wasting a lot of time and then not being called back, I called again and discovered it was one of the owners. He could have opened the package without damaging it but did not. When I told him it was the wrong part, he said it looked the same! I have to say I expect more from an owner! If he didn't know how to select the right model he should have asked someone who was knowledgeable. They were unwilling to pick it up or do anything for me. They will refund my money but I had to go elsewhere to get the tap. They simply didn't care at all. I guess even small stores are too busy to care. read more
