    ELOTES (MEXICAN STREET CORN)
    David H.

Wonderful elote, but no cheeese or sauce on the back side. Looked like the kitchen slathered the cheese and sauce on the top /after cooking, but nothing but burnt corn on the underside. Had teo steak sandwiches, fries, slaw and pickle. The sandwiches were excellent, especially the bun ehich was kind of a everything bagel but not. Definitely a good place for lunch on the below level of Chelsea Local. Plenty of tables and chairs.

I've tried many hobbies the past few years outside of my 9-5 to try and find purpose in my 5-9, ranging from voice lessons to jiu jitsu to pottery, but the thing that has really stuck is recording myself eating rotisserie chicken. All this to say, in my spiritual quest to find the best rotisserie chicken in New York City, Dickson's Farmstand Meats was a name that kept popping up. After wandering through the maze that is Chelsea Market, my big bro and I stumbled upon the promised land. Right away, I had a good feeling, as two butchers were meticulously cutting every last piece of meat they could out of a pig head. They pride themselves on using every part of every animal, from nose-to-tail, and they're really living that. Big bro and I put in our order of a whole chicken and sides ($31 total), and took a seat in the cafeteria-like setting. It's a great vibe in here, as it's a full operating butcher shop along with a restaurant. 2 birds 1 stone. All of their meats are sourced from small family farms in upstate New York that are carefully handpicked for their humanely-raised, high-quality animals. Honestly this is a fantastic touch, but if that chicken didn't do it's thing I could care less. It's all about the taste and flavor of the bird for me. When the chicken arrived, I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. I felt like Will Smith in the Pursuit of Happiness when he gets that job. A crispy, golden brown skin with visible seasoning and steam coming off it as it was fresh out of the rotisserie oven. It belonged in a museum. As we cut into it, steam flooded out into the air and revealed the interior that matched the beautiful exterior. A creamy white meat with a moist, yet not soggy breast. This was actually the poster child for how a rotisserie chicken should be cooked. The leg, thigh, and wing all followed suit. Perfectly seasoned with flavor in every bite due to a dry-brine, this is some all time tissi. FIRST TEAM ALL BIRD! IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

Have only eaten the hot dogs here but they aren't bad! The dogs are way longer than the buns (see photos) but you will survive. The have a decent selection of meats to purchase also.

First time here had the Rotisserie Chicken with salad & a Regular Hot Dog with sweet pepper relish & kewpie mayo Service was perfect for setting loving the vibe of an old school meat market. Over all great experience. Will definitely be back again in the future to try other items on menu

Everything was great. The beef tartare was out of this world. The fries were great.

Not the "best hot dog in New York". Texture and snap of the weiner is satisfying. It's good but way too expensive to be New York's hot dog. Service fast, easy to find seating inside.

HOUSE-MADE HOT DOG with Texas Chili and Cheese Sauce

An excellent hot dog with an amazing cheese sauce and Texas style chili that really tasted like it was from Texas. Their use of high quality ingredients and in-house made hotdog really shines above and beyond your typical New York style hot dog. Of course they have lots of other great meats on the menu and I am waiting my next visit there so I can try some more of their great offers. The place has a comfortable relaxed vibe, and the service was amazingly fast.

Was really looking forward to a healthy chicken nugget (their new addition to the menu) but it tastes like filler not chicken. Fries were soggy and cold and so were the nuggets. Very disappointing order in night.

    HOUSE-MADE PASTRAMI REUBEN

While shopping at Chelsea Market, decided to try the food at Dickson's and I was very happy I did. Chose the reuben, a generous amount of pastrami, not the classic corned beef, served with sauerkraut which was pleasantly mild that didn't overpower the delicious meat. The griddled rye bread was toasted to perfection, a crispy counterpoint to the layers of pastrami, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing. The next time I will ask for more dressing but that's just my personal preference. My friend ordered the pulled pork which I got to sample and it was among one of the best bbq pork I have had, having had bbq in Kansas City which many consider the very best. The person behind the counter was also nice! And the seating in a food hall type dining area was comfortable.

Wanted a quick bite so went to check out the Chelsea Market lower level and decided on Dickson's. I only saw their limited time menu, I read about dirty rice and ribs but weren't on it. Saw the sign for house-made hotdog and was curious. Just got the regular size; toppings for added $ so got raw onions $0.25 and sauerkraut for $0.50. Had a good snap, not too salty and the toppings were fresh. Liked it with mustard. Chimi-parm fries is a shareable size, not much parmesan but still salty. I wasn't into the dry chimichurri seasoning either. You have a pick of dining areas: long tables with benches, high tops with stools, and small tables with chairs.

We got the steak frites and they were okay. What made this place awesome was our bartender Kevin. He recommended us his favorite wines and gave us his recommendations for best views in the area. Great service!

Wanted to check out the Chelsea market and stopped here for a hot dog. Their hot dog was tasty, meaty, smoky and had a slight snap. The service was quick and the guy taking my order was very friendly and helpful. There was a lot of seats to sit at so we it was easy for us to just take a break and enjoy our snack before looking around even more.

    Sauerkraut, hot dog

We stumbled into Dicksons's. We were actually wanting to have a hotdog with sauerkraut and mustard . It says that these are all freshly made. I must tell you I am not really a hotdog person, but I wanted to try it as I grew up eating hotdogs. I did not feel it was fresh. I think I was expecting too much . I will tell you, though the sauerkraut was delicious that I could get behind all day.

With…read moreno interest in cooking, I remember becoming a semi-regular at the Gray's Papaya located at 6th Ave and 8th St and always ordering the Recession Special: two dogs loaded with onions and a papaya drink. It wasn't the best quality frankfurter, but somehow it worked with my indiscriminate palette. Flash forward a century or so, and this is the only Gray's Papaya left in the city. Since I'm a survivor, I thought it only appropriate to take Jamie to the original flagship location and order what else but the Recession Special. Sure enough, they still offer it for $7.50. It was $1.95 when I was a child, but it's still a good deal consisting of 2 Hot Dogs (Photo 10) and a Medium Papaya Drink (Photo 9). The franks were the same as I recall, nothing special but if you add onions and pay an extra 75 cents for the chili, it just works. The papaya drink is not a fruit juice but a puree mixed with sugar and milk. It actually complements the dog in a guilty pleasure kind of way. There was a line but it moved fast. Plenty of room at the red mini-counter, so I was able to relive my youthful dining dalliance with little effort.
