Tried Dicky's Dogs for lunch and was pleasantly surprised! They offer plenty of seating options if you'd like to dine in (that's what we chose), but they also have takeout. There's a variety of choices on the menu - definitely not just hot dogs! Surprisingly, those take up a small portion of the menu. Service was prompt and both women who helped us were so friendly. Food came out quick - hot dogs were huge! The Cuban sandwich was out of this world. Highly recommend giving them a try. read more

I had such high hopes. To look at it, you'd think it was a perfect Italian hot dog. What I got: some very flabby bread, shaped like the traditional pizza bread, but nothing like it. Flabby and tasteless, and it doesn't hold up to the fillings. The hot dog? Also flabby, not all-beef, and I couldn't tell if it was fried (as it should be) or boiled. The potatoes, peppers, and onions were delicious, and the reason for the star. I don't know if they offer a "veggie sandwich" but I would rather have had that instead of these sad dogs. read more

I was expecting fried sabrette hot dogs and COOKED ONIONS not chopped raw onions and where was the red/orange sauce? ‍ Really was looking forward to this but it was really disappointing and no flavor at all. Came here for breakfast one day from the outside i didn't know they served breakfast. I thought it was just hot dogs. But was i wrong they serve breakfast lunch and dinner And the whole menu is available anytime which is great for me bc sometimes i like something more then eggs in the morning. But this time i kept it traditional. I had 2 eggs fried with bacon and crispy fries with some toast. All that for $5 u cant beat that with a stick. Parents had the same thing we also added a side of sausage and some porkskin (Cheecharone idk how to spell it lol) on the side. Both sides were delicious as well. Hidden gem in the Beachwood area. They have a decent Cuban sandwich and bad french fries. But they are a restaurant that closes at 6pm according to their posted hours and they alsways close early. I have tried to get something to eat there on my way from one job to the other several times (because of the location of the place) between 5:30 and 5:45 but the have closed early. The location is easy to pass by, but when you finally pull into the lot and enter the premises you will be surprised. Very clean and nice diner style decor. Oh the real reason to be here is the menu lol So far everything we've tried has been both delicious and in generous proportions. Grilled Chicken or Skirt Steak fajitas...wow , very good. Granddaughter is a picky eater and she had the chicken and I had the steak and we both were very pleased. Grandson is worse than picky and only had mozzarella sticks. They too were fabulous! Grandma had the Grilled Chicken Quesadilla and that proclaimed to as excellent. All was great. Not fast food. Be patient when ordering but be prepared to enjoy some fine food. Great variety of food from breakfast to early dinner. Been there many times and was never disappointed. Staff is welcoming and attentive. Big variety of hot dogs with a huge variety of toppings. Today I went to Dicky's Dogs in Toms River. First time here even though it is close to me. With the closing of Boardwalk Hot Dogs, Dicky's is the only place I can get a pork/beef dog within miles unless you count Wawa. I knew they served Schickhaus and figured they switched to Wennings Griddle Franks. I checked to make sure because I didn't want any old Schickhaus dogs that might be lying around. These were the new Wennings Griddle Franks which are made by Grote and Weigel of Connecticut. They recently reformulated the recipe to make it less salty as well as changing the casing. Wennings even changed the packaging to make it look like Schickhaus. See the pictures below. My dog was a 4/1 natural casing pork and beef frank. Here it is served deep fried. I've had these types of dogs deep fried at other places and they were too salty for my taste. This one wasn't. It was served very hot. Tasty with a good texture and casing. Nice and juicy too. And filling. As good or better than any deep fried dog in my opinion. And that includes Rutts. Service was good. Cheerful, enthusiastic servers. Dicky's is also known for their Colombian food. Next time I'll have a chili dog. I saw one and it looked good. Plenty of chili. The bun is a nice size. A little big, but able to handle the toppings. So, I know many people rave about Chicago being the "hot dog capital of the world" or at least the United States, but I have to give my vote to my homestate of New Jersey as the true "hot dog capital." Yes, Chicago has the Chicago hot dog, which is good in its own right, but Chicago has nothing on Jersey. If you are a fan of what most call Coneys and believe they come from the Coney Island section of Brooklyn, New York, let me correct you. Jersey created that culinary wonder and here in Jersey we call it a Texas weiner. One of my favorite ways to enjoy a hot dog. My other favorite is another Jersey creation, the Italian hot dog, which is two hot dogs with fried potatoes, peppers and onions stuffed in pizza bread (think a thicker version of pizza bread). So, with those two creations, I feel justified when I call Jersey the epicenter of the hot dog kingdom. The hot dogs here are gopo d, but I also want to add that they have more than hot dogs, they have burgers, cheesesteaks, chicken, etc. All the food is good and service is friendly. Stopped in on our way home. Retro styled hot dog and Colombian food restaurant. We ordered the double Italian Dog. Plenty of potatoes, onions and peppers. Served on a pizza bread roll. Me and my husband split it and it was plenty for lunch. The onion rings were super crispy but the onions were thin, so it was light on onion flavor. Food is delicious. The service is a crap shoot due to occasional language barrier but usually good and never a real issue. The place is EXCEPTIONALLY clean. I like this little eatery and I love the menu but I'm done going there because of the overly loud disco/club music that is constantly playing. You (I) can't enjoy a relaxing meal when it's required to speak loudly to a person right across the table. It's like Saturday Night Fever or Planet Fitness. The choke was straight from the fridge, add coke mustard & cheese on top & you have a wasted much. The bun was old tasting, at least IF it WAS toasted it would have tasted fresher. Dicky's Dogs on Atlantic City Boulevard, Tom's River took me by surprise - a pleasant one. I was looking for a breakfast joint close by my destination in the county seat of Ocean County, and Yelp pointed me there. It was less than ten minutes from the courthouse. From the outside it did not look like much. Worn parking lot with only one car in front, bright sign that hinted at carnival attraction. Inside, however, was light and cheery. Small counter with a few spinners and no more than 10 tables in red/white vinyl. I sat at the counter, where I met the lone server in the house. She put down the mug of java I requested, as well as the menu. She was very pleasant and bilingual. I opted for a sausage, egg & cheese breakfast sandwich to be able to compare it to all the others I have eaten over many years. It arrived in an excellent roll, on a large white plate. Two patties, two fried eggs and two slices of American cheese. I could barely fit a corner of it in my mouth. And, it was fantastic! Every element was fresh and cooked to the optimal finish. From first bite through final chew, I enjoyed the combined flavors and textures presented. The sausage seemed locally sourced as it had a ton of savoriness. The roll was also in someone's bakery oven not that long before. The eggs kept it all mellow and the cheese kept it all together. Its sum was far greater than its individual parts. Will certainly return to check out the other breakfast goodies. Who knew Tom's River had so much to offer? read more
