I kept the name of the store in a note for when I was ready. I didn't renew my glasses for a long time and finally decided it was time. The shop is small but choices abound. I was greeted warmly, though they were busy with other customers. I noticed that Nicole greeted everyone who was there or who came in after me by name. I told her what I was thinking of trying. She welcomed me to try on anything and everything. And so I did. There was zero pressure. Nicole helped me with fit and size and I narrowed it down to a pair I fell in love with. Nicole was busy but she checked in on me often. Nicole will tell you if a pair of glasses isn't for you - which I really appreciate, because it's a big purchase! By the way, Nicole learned my name early on and used it. This is not something you see much these days. I felt welcomed to be their customer. I selected my frames and Nicole told me about their upcoming vacation, not sure if they would have them ready beforehand. I wasn't in any rush, but I did learn that they make the glasses in-house, which was nice to know! My glasses were ready in just a few days. When I went in to pick them up, I was greeted with, "Hi, Megan!" My glasses were beautifully made. When I tried them on, I was a little unsure because they didn't seem like the right prescription - I had waited too long to update my Rx! Nicole assured me that if they didn't feel right and my eyes didn't adjust, they'd remake them within 30 days. My eyes adjusted in one day and I'm thrilled with my new glasses. Nicole also adjusted my sunglasses (not purchased there) for free, and they've never fit better. I can't say enough about my wonderful experience at Fortuna Optical. You have a customer for life. She asked for my insurance and even looked up the coverage, etc. for all our options. After a very short, about 7 min wait for my 6pm appointment, I was in the examination room. Dr. Hong was very quick, efficient, and thorough. I was out of there in no time and had my prescription for contacts and eyeglasses. I ordered my contacts right then and there. Prices are pretty reasonable, but I guess that depends on your insurance. Very quick (but not rushed service) They offer appointments and have lots of options for frames. They have a room in the back where they have lots of machines, probably for adjusting the frames on site. The man who was helping out a woman with her glasses was very friendly and polite. I will probably come here if I ever end up getting glasses (I'm a contacts person). Only downside is that the place is a bit...well...old. The chairs seem like they've been here since they opened, and the back machine room/storage room is easy to see while walking to the examination room. Other than that, the place is pretty nice. There are magazines and some children's toys in the waiting area. Pretty new magazines too it seems, which is nice.

Lynchwood was the only one that had different frames to try and I found a pair of frames I LOVE for WAY cheaper than I would pay anywhere else. I have been wearing a frame called the 2.5 by Italee for the last eight years. They meet all my needs. Italee also does the lens work in house, sometimes when a company uses an outside lab they blame each other for any problems. The frame is light, the lenses, the most advanced progressives made. I replace my glasses about every 18 months because I have diabetic retinopathy. I call Italee and ask them to recommend an optician in the area I am living. This time they recommended Spechler Optical. It is an independent optical shop. Next door is an optician, who happens to be Mr Spechler's brother. I had my script from another Dr. I brought it to Mr. Spechler. It was the best eyeglass buying experience of my life. Mr. Spechler is incredibly knowledgeable about glasses. I spoke to him over an hour about what I wanted. I was so impressed I bought two full pairs. The glasses are perfect. they are fashionable, and more importantly my vision is the best it can be. He is very fair with his prices. He was hundreds of dollars cheaper than his competition. In short, if you want the best service, and prices go to Spechler optical. I strongly recommend them.
