Be aware they try to sell you the products that you don't need, and do the scans that cost you out of pocket. And this is not professional at all. Staff mentioned that doctors won't see a patient with an appointment unless the optional out of the pocket tests are accepted during the appointment. They did not mention this to me at the time of making my appointment. At every appointment they try to sell products to you. Not sure how this place got 5 stars. I would not recommend this to anyone unless you have time to waste. read more

I haven't been to the eye doctor in ages. Mostly because I only use my glasses for working on the computer and for the last couple of years, my job didn't require it all that much. I also have an aversion to doctors offices in general, so I put off going as long as possible and did a ton of research and calling around before I settled on a place. From the first phone call to registration and the eye exam, everyone at Eyeland was fantastic. The staff at the front desk are bubbly and as friendly as you could hope for. They welcomed me as if I were a long time customer. I really felt that the tech and Dr. Melman both took their time explaining every part of the eye exam to me in great detail and made sure all of my questions were answered. Dr. Melman & I were even chatting about Christmas shopping and mentioned a deal on a GPS that he found on Amazon. After the exam, he took the time to look up the order that he'd placed online and wrote down the model number for me. They've got an extensive selection of eyewear and I found a pair of Paul Frank frames that I fell in love with instantly. I've looked online and could have found the frames a little cheaper elsewhere, but then I'd have had to deal with the hassle of ordering them, filing for reimbursement with my insurance company, blah, blah, blah. read more

I went to the appointment and then they tried to make me pay for photos that my 12 year old did not need. They they said if I don't pay for the photos I can not be seen. Welp. I walked out. I called my insurance and they said those photos are not medically necessary unless during the exam the doctor saw a need for them. Insurance doesn't pay because they are not needed that's why they try to make the customers pay and for that reason for them not giving me an option, I will never go back and Won't recommend this place to anyone. The office was great concerning Covid; hand wash everywhere, masks were worn, they even disinfected my insurance card when they handed it back to me. Front counter was very friendly and thorough. Dr. Melman was great; Easy to talk to, listened to my concerns (I have two conditions to watch closely), Informative, and very kind. I would recommend this doctor again. The only thing I would suggest is to get an estimate before hand. There are two extra tests That insurance does not pay for and can be pricey for some. Overall, I thought it was a very thorough exam, the staff was great, loved the doctor, would definitely recommend him. I am not sure if the $25 2 ounce bottle of eyelid cleaner is necessarily needed. In my life I've been to 3 Eye Doctor Offices. First one was close to home which my mother was taking me to when I was younger. Second, was one I chose due to family going there which was 40 minutes away and a mistake due to the way the office treated me, and third and final is Dr.Melmans office! I knew I could go online and just find the next eye doctor close to home but, for me it was important to find someone that actually cared about my eyes and elaborated on what I had going on. So, I did my research and came across Dr.Melmans yelp and noticed all of the amazing reviews! I decided since I was way past needing new glasses and contacts that I would call right away and make an appointment. I spoke to Patty over the phone who went above and beyond to help me with my insurance to make sure I was in network with the office. The day of my visit I walked in and was greeted by Patty who was just so nice! I was taken into the exam part of the office where they have extensive state of the art equipment for the eyes and was very impressed! The customer service was amazing. The ladies talk to you while you are waiting to be seen by Dr.Melman. I've never seen so many frames in an office. Soo many to choose from which I was excited to find a pair of Valentino's for an amazing price! Anita took her time with me when it came to finding the perfect pair of glasses and explained about where they are manufactured from and about how long till they will arrive in the office for pick up. Now, onto Dr.Melman! He is seriously the best Eye Doctor I've ever been to. He was extremely helpful in explaining what was going on with my eyes. He took his time and did not at all make me feel rushed. Answered any questions I had making me feel reassured. I knew from that office visit that Dr.Melman truly cares about his patients. He told me to come back if my contacts weren't working out with a sample pair which my left eye was blurry so I called the office and he made himself available around closing to make sure he fixed it for me. I have been going to Dr. Melman for years and would like anyone reading this to know that I have been extremely satisfied with his care. Just this morning I called to inquire if there were any cancellations as I had an eyelash that was under my eyelid that was scratching my eye every time I blinked. I could not remove it myself and upon inquiring, they happened to have a cancellation and fit me in. The staff is amazing in that they really care about you as a patient and your well being. Anita and her very qualified staff have always been top notch. I don't know much about other Optometrists in the area, but know that Dr. Melman and his staff are the best! Eyeland is AWESOME!! I went to five other stores in the area but couldn't find a pair that I liked. But then fortunately I found Eyeland! So happy I did!! Anita and all the staff there were so sweet and awesome and they have a GREAT selection of brand name frames for adults!! They truly went out of their way to make sure everything was PERFECT and can even order different size frames if need be (depending on the designer). No other store offered to do that! Be EXTREMELY Careful when dealing with this place. They Smother you with kindness, and now I know why !! I was charged $220.00 for New prescription glasses, (Plus they Billed my insurance X dollars), I wore my NEW glasses a total of Five (5) Weeks before they broke. The left side arm broke 'clean off ' while Unfolding the arms to wear them. I took them back to get repaired and this place actually CHARGED $100.00 for the repair !! That's when I was informed about receiving new glasses from the 'DONATED" Cardboard Box Bin ................WHAT !?!?....... On my Original visit these glasses were recommended by the Fitter !!!.............THIS IS A SCAM !!!! I've been wearing glasses over 20 years.........this has NEVER happened to me by other places I've dealt with. BEWARE of the 'Cardboard Box' on top of the reception desk !!! B.T.W......I REFUSED to pay the $100.00 charge and have been reduced to wearing the 10+ year-old glasses I was wearing on my original visit to this place. What a joke!!! read more

I like this place!! For the first time in years I feel I have an eye doctor that cares. Dr Melman checked my eyes and when done he made a set by using the lenses used during the evaluation. While walking around in the office with the I found I was not totally happy. We did the whole thing from scratch until I was more than satisfied. The staff at Eyeland is superior! I've always been greeted by a pleasant, accommodating person and any need has been taken seriously. If they can fit you regardless of when you call, they will do it. One time Dr. Melman stayed late to accommodate me. Everyone at the front desk looks out for your best interest; they ensure that they exhaust every possibility regarding insurance, samples, ect. and never say, "I cannot help you." Finally, I am not the easiest optometry patient because I have dry eyes with an astigmatism in both eyes. While other Optometrists have become annoyed by my confusion regarding minute changes in slides, Dr. Melman places drops in my eyes whenever they are needed during my exam. Honestly, I have never met a more patient, accommodating, yet extremely knowledgable and well respected Optometrist. I recommend you switch to Eyeland for all of your Optometry needs.
