Foods are good and average, friendly service but not much help for people who don't have much experience with German cuisine. The environment is clean and comfortable if you like cafeteria seating.

Best German restaurant in SoCal! Very friendly staff super talkative, very attentive, makes you feel like a regular. I like how the bartender told us about the upcoming events they are holding. They have a stein event and a New Year's Eve party. Bratwurst sandwich had the yummiest pickle in it. Very flavorful with a good casing and a bun. The strudel here is the best I've had very traditional. Served warm and very filling with fruits, cream, and a yummy sweet sauce. Highly recommend the rudeseimer coffee it's a good night cap. Great selection of cold German beers. Would definitely come here again. Large parking lot. There was a birthday and the whole restaurant sang to them in German it was a lot of fun. Need to come again and try their other food

We walked in with a party of 6 (they recommend calling ahead), but luckily they had space for us! Die Bierstube is tucked inside the Phoenix Club and has a fun, laid-back vibe--German decor everywhere, big TVs playing sports and horse racing, and plenty of seating near the bar. Food came out fast--within 15 minutes--and everything was TASTY. The sausage plates (bratwurst, smoked brat, polish, knackwurst) were solid, with the both of the brat/smoked brat and polish being my top picks. The breaded veal cutlet with sautéed veggies was also a standout. Also, shoutout to the bread and butter they serve with every meal--it was so TASTY. They've got a solid beer selection too, which paired great with the meal. Bathrooms were super clean (multiple stalls, no wait), and our waitress was super friendly and helpful with recs. Definitely coming back to try more of the menu!

This German food getaway was an experience in itself. The decor added to the entire experience. I got the smoked Bratwurst, hot Polish sausage, German potato salad and the Ruben sandwich. The Ruben sandwich was not memorable. The smoked Bratwurst was flavorful and had a nice snap. The Hot polish sausage had a good spicy flavor without being too over bearing. I really enjoyed the German potato salad with its dill flavor and creamy texture. The staff were very friendly and tentative. Overall clean restaurant.

Great food and place to hang out. It's welcoming and warm. You have to drive through a business center, and make a few turns to get there, so it's not hard to find but not easy to immediately spot. There's plenty of parking and wasn't too busy when we got there. Our server James was amazing, very patient and friendly. He told us about some cool future events, definitely looking forward to checking those out. There seems to be a lot of great culture here and you can't miss what a good time everyone is having. They have lots of drink options. For food we got the currywurst, Reuben with spatzle, and sausage plate with sauerkraut. The fries that come with the currywurst were really crunchy and fluffy inside. The Reuben was tasty, the bread was well toasted and it came with some mustard that really added to the flavors of everything. The sausage plate was my favorite, I got the smoked bratwurst and Hot polish. The bratwurst was my favorite and paired really well with the mustard and spaetzle.

I previously reviewed the bierstube when there was only an entry for the Phoenix Club. I'll update here. If you enjoyed the old location you'll be happy to know it's much the same in Brea. The beer offerings and food are pretty much unchanged. I think there is slightly more seating in this location. We've been here a few times for lunch and the service is always friendly and efficient. I love their big sloppy Ruben sandwich and my wife claims they make the best Cobb salad. We often get the curry wurst. You just don't find it many places.

About 30 years ago I went to Phoenix #1. Then it relocated to Phoenix #2 near the Honda Center behind the car dealership. They were there 26yrs. Now they are in Brea so let's say Phoenix #3. There is a poetic story that can be found in that history. Well that's the story I was told visiting today. Our visit was long over due. The beer was soooo good on such a beautiful so cal day. Wifey and I loved the patio area. We ordered a pretzel which had plenty of salt. A little too much for me but real easy to brush off a bit. Wifey really enjoyed her chicken schnitzel. The fries are coated seasoned and pair well with beer. The sausage platter was ok. I had the smoked brat and spicy sausage. No regrets at all. The German potato salad is a must have as your side. Don't mess around with that. Overall we loved our meal and the service was attentive and very welcoming. We will be back for sure.

    Oktoberfest menu
    Audrey K.

We got a giant shank for Oktoberfest and it was the best thing I had ever eaten. It came with a dumpling, German potato salad, and tons of gravy. It was delicious pairing it with the sides and eating the seasoned fat. We also got the potato latkes which were cold and soggy. The bratwurst was delicious too along with the roll. I'd recommend getting it with sauerkraut and some potato salad. Ambiance was wild, tons of singing and dancing! Service was nice too, they helped us pick out items on the menu and explained things we were unfamiliar with.

The FOOD: 4.5/5 | Drinks: 5/5 Off the appetizers, we had the pork belly bites and dirty fries! First dish came with a long hot pepper, several mini tortillas, and 2 dipping sauces. The pork was crunchy on the outside and soft+succulent on the inside. I can see myself doubling up on this appetizer the next time I come. Dirty fries were great; it came with a generous amount of pickled onions - providing a really nice contrast to the savoriness of our meal. Our waiter graciously accommodated our request to have the egg on the side. Off the entrée/taco menu, my friend ordered the Korean tacos and I got the Ensenada (fish) tacos. But you can also order the Ensenada tacos with shrimp. These were delicious, I would have loved a little more lime crema to go with the fish - but not a big deal. I got a Watermelon Margarita. I wasn't expecting it to be HUGE, but it was the perfect amount considering how much food we as a pair ordered. My friend ordered the La Toxica table side cocktail and one additional mango cocktail. I got excited as we walked in because of how cool the vibe was inside the restaurant! Modern and clean aesthetic ... such a surprise! I had already looked at the menu the night before, so I made some suggestions for our party of four adults and kiddo. Our server brought fresh sourdough rolls with seasoned butter. Solid start. We then ordered the stuffed 'shrooms and proscuitto-arugula pizza as starters. Both were very excellent, and was tell-tale of what we were about to experience with our entrees. Entrees ordered were the rigatoni with vodka sauce, the pappardelle with shortrib (two servings but really enough food for at least four ppl!) and the chicken Parmesan salad. Everything was impressive, especially the pappardelle dish. With the beurre blanc and creamy Alfredo sauce with two huge pieces of short rib that were fork tender, it was the star of the evening. This dish is made table-side to ensure that it's eaten immediately. The portions were enough for four ppl, and the sauce is just absolutely decadent. Service was attentive and prompt. Our server was lovely! She shared her favorites with us, and we followed suit by ordering her favorite desserts too! The bread pudding was amazing, but the carrot cake, being a new recipe, was just a bit too sweet for our palates. Plenty of parking as it is onsite. Loved that!

Desert: Tiramisu 4/5 - great flavor, ratio of cream was too much compared to cake portion Canolli 4/5 - duo flavors were nice and had a good shell with crunch Crème brûlée 2/5 - pistachio flavor was light and it's was almost too warm and liquidy. Life happened, years passed, and somehow I never made it back. Fast forward to today: I was driving my Tesla, jokingly asked Grok to take me somewhere for a beer, and it pointed me right back here. Walking in felt like revisiting a place that had been quietly waiting in the background of my story. The centerpiece is still the incredible bar. Shelves stacked floor to ceiling with whiskey bottles, glowing green tile behind the taps, warm lighting, and enough character that you can spend half your time simply looking around. It's the kind of room that feels both energetic and comfortable at the same time. I grabbed a seat at the bar, watched a soccer match on the TVs, and ordered an Old Fashioned. It arrived exactly the way I hoped it would: large clear ice cube, generous orange peel, balanced and smooth without trying too hard. Just a well-made classic cocktail. What stood out most was the atmosphere. These days I'm much more likely to be exploring hiking trails, photographing wildflowers, or driving mountain roads than spending time in bars. Twelve years ago, places like this were a much more regular part of my life. Coming back reminded me why I enjoyed them in the first place. Good conversation, a comfortable seat, a quality drink, and no rush to be anywhere else. The beer taps looked extensive, the whiskey selection seemed endless, and the entire place struck a balance between neighborhood pub and whiskey destination. Funny how a random AI navigation suggestion brought me back to a place I'd been meaning to revisit for over a decade. Glad it finally did. 5 stars.

We decided to give it a shot because the menus and pics I was seeing on Yelp looked good. I feel deceived y'all!!! This spot was hyped up as another "Tempo" and I was hoping for a less loud, club-like vibe with good food and drinks. Apparently, they changed owners AGAIN just a few months ago. All of the legit Mexican items- gone! I was really bummed because Orange County really doesn't need yet another mediocre attempt at a vibey sushi spot that serves WARM FISH. * The bartender was great! I honestly felt horrible for the staff. They open at 3:00, and I came in at 4:00 to a literal graveyard. I really hope the guys who waited on us get out fast before this place goes down. I know their tips are probably not even $20/a day. * The sushi items were all warm. I got nauseous within the hour after consuming them. * By 5:00 only one other table had arrived and they were also shocked at the massive disappointment so they spent their time waiting for cocktails, on their phones trying to make arrangements to go to another restaurant. So within two hours, they had two tables. * Yelp is deceiving- their reviews are mostly for the old place. Their menu is a disaster right now. There's limited sushi, brisket sandwich, wings, and other weird hodgepodge selections of oddities. The interior is almost exactly the same as Taps. They kept all of the furniture and decor. Maybe this should be a tear down and star over. It's really sad because we could use an old school Mexican restaurant with mariachi's and Sunday champagne buffet brunch. Just look at how El Torito Grill in Brea kills it on Sundays. Taps used to kill it on Sundays too. Where are the smart investors?! Come save this spot!
