***NEW OWNERS *** **Menu pics on Yelp are from old ownership** Definitely on the death-watch list. It can't survive I have not been here since the week that Taps went under. We decided to give it a shot because the menus and pics I was seeing on Yelp looked good. I feel deceived y'all!!! This spot was hyped up as another "Tempo" and I was hoping for a less loud, club-like vibe with good food and drinks. Apparently, they changed owners AGAIN just a few months ago. All of the legit Mexican items- gone! I was really bummed because Orange County really doesn't need yet another mediocre attempt at a vibey sushi spot that serves WARM FISH. * The bartender was great! I honestly felt horrible for the staff. They open at 3:00, and I came in at 4:00 to a literal graveyard. I really hope the guys who waited on us get out fast before this place goes down. I know their tips are probably not even $20/a day. * The sushi items were all warm. I got nauseous within the hour after consuming them. * By 5:00 only one other table had arrived and they were also shocked at the massive disappointment so they spent their time waiting for cocktails, on their phones trying to make arrangements to go to another restaurant. So within two hours, they had two tables. * Yelp is deceiving- their reviews are mostly for the old place. Their menu is a disaster right now. There's limited sushi, brisket sandwich, wings, and other weird hodgepodge selections of oddities. The interior is almost exactly the same as Taps. They kept all of the furniture and decor. Maybe this should be a tear down and star over. It's really sad because we could use an old school Mexican restaurant with mariachi's and Sunday champagne buffet brunch. Now it is a jumbled mess of very limited sushi, sashimi, roles, and breakfast items (untill 2pm) and Mexican food. Food A really weird mix of genres, really not doing any of them justice. The Geisha sushi roll was $26 for 8 pieces, steep. It was good, but not worth the price. I also had the croissant eggs benedict, and it was just okay. Service There was only one server who handled the front door and table service. He was friendly, professional, and courteous. The place has a great interior. I love the lighting and the decor really stands out. It's a lot bigger than it looks so I'm sure it's great for bigger parties. We were a group of 9 and had great seating. But here are the areas I found needed some improvement: We did have a reservation and upon arrival, though we were seated quickly, the server took a long time to come around. We usually try to be very understanding when servers look overwhelmed or it seems to be a busy night, but we were 3 parties, 2 groups of about 10 and a couple. We really wanted to like this place, but the overall experience felt pretty flat. The restaurant was mostly empty, yet the service was still very slow. The staff didn't seem very engaged or welcoming, and though we were celebrating a bride to be, it just didn't put us in celebratory mode as the atmosphere lacked energy and warmth. I stopped by Tempo Geisha the other day and decided to try their seafood and meat molcajete. The flavor was great, the mix of meats and seafood came out sizzling hot and full of that smoky, rich taste you want from a good molcajete. The portion of the main dish itself was generous, but I was surprised they only gave four small corn tortillas with such a big bowl. Same goes for the rice and beans, both were good, just served in really small portions. What threw me off a bit was the little details. The soda came in what felt like a kid-sized glass, and I really missed having chips and salsa at the start of the meal. Most Mexican spots I've been to, like Cha Cha's down the street automatically bring them out, which adds a nice welcoming touch. Tempo Geisha has solid food and good flavors, but with a few small tweaks to their portions and extras, it could easily go from good to great. Manager was also assisting as our waiter and taking our orders. Service was great and the staff had great attitudes. Friendly place and i would definitely come again. The happy hour being our first time trying it, and the last experience coming for dinner with my kids and wife reaffirmed the food is good and service was good. Plenty of parking in the structure behind the restaurant. Place is huge, with plenty of seating. They had happy hour, which was great. We ordered a bit to share. It's a fusion concept with a variety of different dishes. Everything was really good, but by far the star of the show was the octopus. The sauces that came with it were amazing, really well balanced dish and the octo was cooked perfectly. Def a must try and order from the happy hour menu if you can. Soggy tacos dorados. Man, I was disappointed overall with my experience at Tempo Geisha. Both of the things I order were not good. Tacos Dorados 7/10 These arrived soggy. The taco shells that are supposed to be crunchy, were soggy. The tacos were served in a plate with sauce in the bottom of the bowl. Apparently, the tacos had sat there int he sauce too long. Maybe that was ready first and they had it sitting for the rest of the food to come out. I'm not too sure? I just know something went wrong... I ordered the Caesar salad with shrimp instead of chicken. Extra charge for the shrimp by the way. The Caesar salad dressing tasted off to me. It was overly fishy tasting, like anchovies maybe? They topped the salad with lots of cheese. That's fine. The dressing was just off though. It didn't taste like Caesar salad dressing. I couldn't even eat it. Really gross. My husband took a bit and agreed that it wasn't right. 2/10 for the Caesar salad. Service was fine. No issues there. They brought our food and filled our glasses. That's great. My friend and I came here for Valentine's Day dinner, and we were really hoping to love the experience but unfortunately several aspects fell below our expectations. When we arrived for our 6:00 PM reservation, the hostess let us know it would be about a 10-minute wait and while we understand that holidays can be busy, we had made a reservation specifically to avoid waiting. Shortly after, we and a few other parties were asked to sit at the bar with no additional context as to why we were waiting. We were offered complimentary champagne, which was a thoughtful gesture and definitely appreciated, but we were on a tight schedule as we were set to catch a movie afterward so we just wanted to be sat. Once we were finally seated, we overheard that someone had vomited and our table happened to be right next to that area, which was quite off-putting. During service, my friend and I also noticed the staff seemed very overwhelmed--servers were discussing table confusion and food routing confusion within earshot of our table, which made the experience feel a bit disorganized. This became especially apparent as we waited quite some time between getting our appetizer and our starter, which ended up reaching our table at the same time as our main course. For dessert, we ordered the butter cake, but the texture and flavor was more like cornbread so we put it off to the side. While we were waiting for our check, our server briefly placed another dessert at our table before realizing it belonged elsewhere and taking it away, which just added to the overall sense of disorganization. My friend and I truly don't mind spending $200+ for a great dining experience, but our total came to about $250 and, unfortunately, the food and service really didn't meet our expectations to the point where we ended up discarding most of our meal. For context, I've also visited the Tempo Cantina location across from the Brea Mall, and my friend has been to Tempo Geisha once previously. We decided to give it another try because the atmosphere and location are fantastic and very convenient for us. However, we were ultimately disappointed this time as well. I share this feedback in hopes it's helpful, not to bring the restaurant down. We genuinely love the concept and energy of the restaurant and hope to see improvements in service flow, communication, and food consistency in the future because we really would love to come back and have a great experience! read more

I visited tempo geisha a few months back with my girlfriend and this place is just missing the mark. The country music did not fit the geisha theme and neither did the cowboy hats that the staff wore. Our food order came out wrong and nothing really tasted good. I had high hopes but it's not happening. The patio looks so cool but I never see anyone out there when I drive by. Everything was a complete failure The design of the place is absolutely beautiful! It is decorated really nice and very tasteful. Service was really poor. Our waiter was the bartender and our server. He didn't know the menu. We got the pan roast, dirty fries and pineapple dish. We specially said we don't want the octopus in pan roast but the other seafood items are fine and he later brings out the chicken and sausage. My husband repeated multiple times but he stilll got it wrong. He even showed us the tablet while we were paying that the pan roast was with chicken. What? We asked for seafood version. He just didn't get it. Either way the pan roast didn't taste good. Lacked proper flavor. The dirty fries were okay. They needed more acidity. The grilled pineapple was basically a bunch of cheese with barely any flavor. Wouldn't recommend any of it. I got strawberry margarita and my husband got the mule. Both which barely had any alcohol because I didn't taste any. Mine tasted like strawberry juice. Complete disappointment. Overall we were really disappointed and to top it off we went there for my birthday. Cocktails we ordered: lychee martini 6/5 espresso martini 5/5 The drinks are the real mvps here, so we had to go with two rounds. The decor is a close second. I really wanted to love it here, but the food fell well below my expectations. I don't mind dropping bags on a quality meal, but I definitely did not get that. My bill was approximately $200 for the items mentioned, including tip. I may come back during hh for drinks and small bites, but I definitely won't be ordering any seafood. This is Mr. Tempo's newest restaurant and bar. It took over former Taps space so this place is massive. The layout and seatings are still the same. The new decorations are very pretty. We came in for a Saturday lunch, menu is similar to original Tempo. They focus on seafood and Asian fusion which I liked a lot. We have tried citrus sushi roll, whole branzino, steak tacos and ribeye wrapped asparagus. Everything was delicious except the sushi roll. The rice was really dry and hard. Somehow I don't think it was sushi rice at all. The service was great, hubby liked his Japanese whiskey Paloma. The Macallan 12 came with too much ice. It looks like iced whiskey! It pains me to have to write this as I've been a Tempo fan for years but this Geisha version restaurant really is not worth coming to and in my mind a disgrace especially to someone who has Asian and Hispanic blood.. and KNOWS good food. First off, we had reservations for 6pm and didn't get to sit and actually place an order until 7pm, from that point it was all down hill. Menu is not as complete as the other Tempo restaurants, more stripped down and MUCH higher prices to cover the $$$$Millions+ in renovations/remodel I suppose... The owner is definitely over his skis.. Drinks were very watered down, food was mediocre at best... Service was very slow, the steak tacos were very over priced and not worth even half of what they charge $18.00 for 2 small tacos and no accompaniments. Wife said her sushi was a rip off no one at our table regardless of what they ordered was happy the ONLY thing that was worth it was the butter cake, how sad.. First time here. Met up with an old co-worker because she lives in Brea. This used to be Taps. It was a Japanese Latino fusion place but the female servers were wearing cowboy outfits? Their logo is a mermaid? It just didn't seem like it fit the vibe or theme there. I know Vaqueros exist but again, their outfits seemed out of place. I got there at 4:30pm on Tuesday. It was empty! I know people work. Happy hour is until 6 pm. The server recommended a few items. We got the queen roll (sushi roll) and the wonton tacos from the regular menu. The happy hour menu was $10 per item and we got a lemon drop, michelada, and fries from the happy hour menu. The food was just okay or decent. No wow factor. Price point was not worth it whatsoever! Also, it felt like our server rushed us to pay and leave because she was going on her break. I don't recommend this place. My experience was poor. I had to ask for a Coke twice before it finally arrived. I ordered a taco plate and they never brought it out. This was during dinner on a Tuesday. Only 5 tables were seated while around 25 tables were vacant, so I expected much better attention and timing. They offered me the tacos free of charge, which I appreciate, but at that point I no longer trusted the situation. When the tacos were delivered, I didn't feel comfortable eating them, so I didn't touch the plate. Service felt disorganized and inattentive, especially for a nearly empty restaurant. We have been waiting for this place to open since we found out it would be Tempo. We have been to the one by Brea Mall and were wondering how this one would be since the Taps building was very nice. They are located in the heart of downtown Brea with plenty of parking nearby with the structures. This is a huge place compared to the previous one and they have done a great job with the decoration and the murals. The only thing we think was a bit off, was the waitresses uniforms as they seemed a bit out of place for the area and potential clientele, but they were really friendly and helpful. We made a reservation on open table just in case we needed it, but it wasn't too busy on Sunday around 4pm. At first they sat us indoors on a small table, but we requested to be moved since the AC wasn't on and it was hot. We requested to be seated outside which they asked us to wait a couple of mins while they cleaned the table. The staff were very nice and accommodating about it and the outside seating was nice and refreshing. We ordered a mango and a cucumber margaritas that were delicious and refreshing for a hot day like today. We decided to try the octopus tacos and the seafood tower 1. The tacos were delicious! The sauce they came with was just hot enough and although the tacos didn't need it, it was a nice addition. The seafood tower came and even though it is not an actual tower, it was a nice presentation. It would be nicer if you had something under it to make it easier to turn it for sharing. The agua chile was good, not spicy, but shrimp were super tender and fresh. The oysters were in the smaller size but given everything you get, they were good. The ceviche was my bfs favorite part of the tower. Overall, we ere pleasantly surprised of what they have done and the food. This is close to home and we are certain we will be back. This new Asian Mexican fusion restaurant opened up where Taps used to be in downtown Brea. I really wanted to like it, but none of us really cared for the main entrees that we got. The flavor of the mole, the octopus, the sauces, and even the rice was lacking. They did make some good tacos though, and their flour tortillas tasted homemade. My parents raved about this place. They brought us here when we visited them. The menu is overwhelming. I would recommend paring it down. However, everything was surprisingly good. I enjoyed the Japanese old fashioned. We ordered the raw oysters which came with a ponzu sauce that was amazing. For the table, we shared the rib eye which was cooked perfectly. For sushi, we ordered the nigiri rainbow, ceviche roll and queen roll. The rolls were flavorful and the fish was fresh. My mom ordered the clams appetizer and was drinking the broth. I don't even know where to start! The staff was amazing! We got seated fast and the staff constantly checked on us. I can't say it was only the server because it wasn't! It was multiple people constantly checking making sure that everything was good. The vibes of the place was also great! The music wasn't crazy loud and they have tv's with entertainment. Its style is so unique! From the beautiful lit up tree, to the floral ceiling (which I FAILED TO GET PICTURES) to the beautiful restroom! Now onto the highlight of the whole place! THE FOOOOOOD!!!!!!
