Tacos de Papa with rice and beans.
    Katie V.

We've now been to the Blind Coyote multiple times and it has become one of our favorite spots for family celebrations and date night. I enjoy their chips and salsa before our meal. I get their tacos de papas and I've never been disappointed. We find that reservations are best and the service is very good. We recently celebrated a promotion there and the staff took the extra step to make our visit extra special with some dessert. We will continue to share our positive experiences with friends and family and recommend they visit, too.

We came here on a date night and it was just what we wanted! We got two margaritas and tried their flan and tres leches. The margaritas had great flavor and they had a fun variety. The desserts were so good and the tres leches was our favorite. Our waitress took good care of us!

Disappointing experience here. The restaurant has a modern and vibey look but lacks good food, service and an actual vibe. I ordered a combo with 2 tacos. For the most part I am a light eater and 98% of the time I go home with leftovers. There were no leftovers. The tacos were small, the fish taco was mostly batter. The rice was flavored well but they gave about only 1/2 cup of it and spreaded out to look like more, beans had no flavor. I count macros so I could easily tell the portion of the rice and beans were very small. Which is weird cause those are the usual fillers to make you think you have so much food. The carnita taco was good with a decent amount of meat and had good flavor. Probably the best thing I ate. However for $22 I felt pretty robbed. The chips and salsa were good, the red salsa was flavorful and had some spice. The seasoning on the chips were good. They had a huge selection of drinks and the drinks we ordered were good but not something that would bring me back. Our waiter seemed undertrained and very new. Did not offer help with selection or have much enthusiasm, eventually asked if we wanted our check without checking if we wanted another drink or if we wanted to look at desserts. The whole experience was underwhelming.

My husband and I came here for lunch today and I really enjoyed the scallop tostadas (2 small tostadas with a good amount of scallops, mixed with diced pineapple and a red pepper jam). My husband liked the two fish taco entree, which had good portions of fish, and came with rice and beans. We started with the mushroom queso fundido appetizer, but weren't too fond of it, as it wasn't a traditional thick cheese queso-it was mixed with three cheeses, but only the middle had thick cheese, and the rest was almost like a soft floury grits consistency. I'd skip that for a different appetizer. We shared the tres leches cake for dessert and that was pretty good. Overall, I recommend the entrees the most. Our server was very friendly and came around often. The parking lot is large and easy to park in. There is a large bar area as well, with unique cocktails in the menu.

Yes, I do recommend this place. We had a big group. The service was great, server kept coming back to check on us. The food was great. We had different plates but all equally delicious.

The Blind Coyote Cantina is located on the far east side of the shopping center on the northeast corner of Imperial Highway and Yorba Linda Blvd. There are some parking spots right in front of the restaurant, and plenty more nearby if they are all taken. The inside of the restaurant has a warm, cozy feel and is centered around a large square bar. The bar has TVs if you want to come and watch a game. Seating options include bar seating, booths, tables, a long couch with several small tables, as well as outdoor patio seating. The patio is split between covered and uncovered tables. The whole patio has heat lamps and there are fans overhead in the covered area. We sat in a booth and the booths have glass partitions between them which helps cut down the noise. The menu has a good selection of drinks, appetizers, and entrees. They have a happy hour from 3pm to 5pm with discounted drinks and appetizers. We came for lunch and started out with chips and salsa and an order of guacamole. The chips are fresh made and tasted great. We got about two thirds of the way through our first basket and our server brought us another warm basket without even having to ask for it. Both the green and red salsas were very good, and the green salsa has a little heat. The guacamole was excellent and the serving size was huge. I ordered the chicken fajitas which arrived sizzling hot. There was a good amount of chicken on top of a huge bed of veggies. The tortillas were fresh and hot. I'm usually not a big fan of beans but theirs are nice and creamy and tasted great. My girlfriend had the house salad and added shrimp. It had a nice combination of ingredients, the vinaigrette dressing was nice and light, and it came with a good number of lightly seasoned grilled shrimp. The salad was huge and there was plenty to take home. The Tacos de Papa were also enjoyed. Prices are a little above average, but the portions are very generous. Alex was both the bartender and server along with an assistant, and they both took good care of us. You can sign up for their VIP email list on the website to receive news and discounts. We had a nice lunch and an overall good experience here, and would definitely return for happy hour or dinner to try some more menu items.

Hidden Gem with Flavorful Bites and Standout Cocktails We stopped by The Blind Coyote Cantina for happy hour one afternoon and had such a great experience. We arrived at the perfect time--no wait and a chill, not-too-busy vibe. The space looks small from the outside, but once seated, it feels open and welcoming. The central bar is a showpiece, and there's also a lovely patio area for outdoor dining. We started with drinks and the chips and guacamole. The guac was chunky, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned--definitely a must-order. For drinks, I had La Bamba, which I'll admit sounds unusual (gin, achiote verde liqueur, green tea liqueur, and spinach juice), but it was hands-down my favorite cocktail of the day. Incredibly refreshing and unique. Highly recommend it if you're feeling adventurous. My boyfriend went with the Line in the Sandia--a tequila-based cocktail with watermelon, mango, sumac, grenadine, and bay leaf. Also super refreshing and beautifully balanced. We shared a mix of tacos: carnitas, steak, and Tony's Chicken Tacos. The carnitas were tender and flavorful, the steak was solid, but the chicken tacos absolutely stole the show. Topped with pickled jalapeños, guacamole, and crema, they were packed with flavor and perfectly balanced. We also added a side of Mexican rice--simple, but so well done. For our second round, we went back for another Line in the Sandia and tried the Pick Your Own Mule with gin--both excellent. Service was friendly and attentive, and our server had great recommendations. Overall, the vibe, the flavors, and the drinks made this a place we'll definitely be returning to. A happy hour win!

    Howdy Doody

$5 margaritas everyday from 11-3, followed by Happy Hour from 3-5! Although the margarita was good, the Howdy Doody was my favorite. I wouldn't order the Sanchito again. It tasted nothing like a paloma. The esquites were fabulous and cost just $5 during HH. I ordered the spicy caesar salad and added steak for $7. The steak was tender and perfectly seasoned. Just fantastic overall! We sat on the dog friendly patio and had stellar service from every staff member who stopped by our table. I visited the Blind Pig a handful of times, but I prefer the food and service of the Blind Coyote. The value can't be beaten if you dine in between 11-5. Appetizers were half off, and the drinks were in the $5-10 range. We spent $100 on 6 cocktails, two entrees, and an appetizer. For a midscale dining experience, that's unheard of these days.

    Gina C.

Our waitress was Megan she's awsome I'm allergic to just about everything on the menu but Megan helped me choose items I could have we just took off stuff I couldn't have and added what I could have. I ordered 2 more fish tacos they were AMAZING I put lime on top & OMGOSH that line made the whole fish FANTASTIC. I have never had Spanish rice like this before I LOVED IT!! I had unsweetened ice tea so good you really don't need any sweeteners Marie had the Combination 2 item with both items being the Chicken Taquitos with Rice and Beans. She ordered the Non Alcoholic drink passion fruit Shandy she loved it Congratulations Megan on becoming a new mommy Restaurant and Bar was great there's outside patio dining as well. Inside nice fun atmosphere cool fireplace on the wall plenty of TV's great for families too. I highly recommend you come give the Blind Coyote Cantina a try your going to love it as much as we did!!

We went here when it was the blind pig and were not impressed but the change to Mexican has changed our mind. The chips are the best we have ever had as is the guacamole!

Came here to celebrate a family birthday, was pleasantly surprised. It's a cute place inside and they also have outdoor seating. They do take reservations, which I'm glad we made them. All the food we ordered was very good, the carnitas nachos were amazing. Food came out pretty quick, drinks not so much. The margaritas were good, just took awhile to get to the table. Overall will come back here again especially for the nachos!

    Quesadilla
    Michael R.

Came here the other day and the food was pretty good. Was able to get in during happy hour so most of what I ate and drank was from there. We ended up ordering a steak quesadilla, ceviche, and a burrito mojado. The Quesadilla was definitely my favorite with the burrito being a close second. The portions were actually really big, and the quesadillas were so juicy from the meat and cheese. Would go back just for that. The wet burrito was huge too and seasoned really well. However I was really underwhelmed with the ceviche, it was pretty bland. Barely any lime or spice on it. The service was fine, but for how there really wasn't many other party's when we went I would have expected them to be a bit more attentive. I did enjoy the ambiance and overall vibe of the restaurant, it was modern but still welcoming. I'd come back, just not for the seafood.

    Chips and Salsa

Everything was so delicious!!! The chips and salsa (you get green and red) were some of the best! Chips were so flavorful and fresh! I could eat those all day. I had a 5 dollar Margarita that was made well. My meal was the fish tacos. They were so yummy along with the rice and beans. My friends had the chicken and pork tacos that they both loved. The food presentation was lovely!! Service was excellent. It's really nice inside with a great bar area. They also have outdoor seating. It's in the shopping center with Bristol Farms in Yorba Linda. I would go back for sure! Great job.

My party was running a little late, but our server, Stacy, was incredibly patient and on top of everything from the moment we arrived. She recommended the waffle, and let me tell you--it did not disappoint! It had the perfect crisp on the outside but practically melted in your mouth. Stacy was attentive, knowledgeable, full of great suggestions, and so personable. She made us feel genuinely welcome. At one point I almost wanted to invite her to take a birthday shot with us! She was truly a 10/10 and made the experience memorable. The only downside was our experience at the bar. We ordered drinks there and noticed they weren't made the same as the ones we'd been receiving at our table. When we mentioned it, the bartender responded, "Well, maybe because I made four at once." I'm still not sure what that was supposed to mean. The interaction came across as unfriendly, which was disappointing since we were having such a great time. Everyone has off days, and I completely understand that--but if I could make one request, it would be: please don't let it show on someone's birthday. Overall, I would absolutely recommend Story. The atmosphere is gorgeous, the food was delicious, and Stacy truly elevated our entire experience. Thank you for helping make my birthday celebration special. Stacy, you're a 10/10!

They always do a great job with decorating when they have a new theme in effect, and the Great Gatsby décor is no exception. The room is filled with lots of gold streamers, hanging gold light fixtures, art deco artwork, Roman columns, etc. Reservations are highly recommended. We checked in at the host stand with Emma who was very friendly. She seated us immediately at the bar as requested. We enjoy talking with the bartenders and watching them make drinks. Ruben was our bartender and he was excellent in all aspects. I started out with Between the Sheets from the Gatsby menu (rum, cognac, orange, lemon, $18). Rum and cognac is a great combo. This cocktail is spirit forward and well balanced. She started out with a Bartender's Reserve (you call the spirit and flavor profile, and the bartender crafts something special for you, $20). She gave parameters of no hard liquors like whiskey or cognac, not sweet, and not refreshing (i.e. no cucumber). Ruben made the most amazing gin based cocktail. Some of the ingredients he mentioned were plum, passion fruit, pineapple, lime, and a bit of chartreuse and soda. It was complex and perfectly balanced, with great flavors. We have been here many times, and he even served it in a unique tiki mug that we've never seen here before. Now it was my turn to put Ruben to the test. I also wanted a Bartender's Reserve, and I told him to use any spirit as long as the drink focuses on banana or apricot flavor. He went to work, and after a short time a beautiful frosted glass was served to me. I forget all of the ingredients he mentioned, but it was rye based with banana liqueur, a small foam top, and fresh shaved cinnamon on top. The banana was perfectly present with the rye at a nice level. This was a home run all the way. Of course, she wanted another magical creation, and Ruben went to work yet once again. She was served a beautiful yellow cocktail, and he even hand cut a little lemon fish garnish. It was mezcal based with yuzu, elderflower, mango, and lime. It was perfectly balanced, the smoke was at the perfect level, and again it had a great mix of flavors. There was some left over, and he even gave that to her in a chilled side bottle with its own baby's breath flower garnish. It's so fun to watch their bartenders create something from scratch, grabbing various bottles, mixing, tasting, adjusting, and then garnishing and serving. In addition to Ruben's delicious creations tonight, Adrian and Sergio have also made us delicious custom crafted cocktails on several occasions. We will definitely be returning soon for some of their new upcoming themes.

Their front of house focus is the wine bar, but they also have a good cocktail and martini menu, as well as a nice selection of food items. The interior is warm and cozy with two different seating areas. The larger front area has bar seating, quite a few tables, and a lounge area in the back corner with several couches. There is another area in the back which is smaller, and houses their cocktail bar and a number of two seat high top tables. You can order anything on the menu from either area. We sat at the bar in front for some Sunday evening cocktails and small bites. We started out with the spinach & artichoke dip ($15). The dip came out very hot, was a big portion, and was very good. However, the menu said it came with toast points, but instead it was served with tortilla chips which were just ok. The advertised toast points or fresher tortilla chips would have made this appetizer better. My first cocktail was the Limoncello Martini (vodka, fresh Limoncello, lemon juice, $15). I usually love anything lemon and this was a good martini with light lemon flavor. She started with the Purple Martin Martini (vodka, raspberry puree, pineapple, $15). This was another good martini with light sweetness from the raspberry and pineapple, not a sugar bomb. We wanted a little more food, so we ordered the Caprese flatbread ($18). It was a good size, and the dough was great. It had a good amount of cheese and tomatoes, and I really liked the balsamic drizzle on top. However, it did not come with the basil that was listed on the menu. Next, I tried the Peperoncino Martini (vodka, Italian Peperoncino brine, black pepper, extra virgin olive oil, $15). I loved this, one of the more unique martinis I've had. She liked her sip so much, she ordered her own for number three. Her second cocktail was the Carmel Apple Martini (carmel apple vodka, Licor 43, lemon, star anise, caramel cube garnish, $15). Most of the time, you would expect a caramel apple martini to be a sugar bomb, but not this one. The flavors were great with a light sweetness. And who doesn't like a caramel square treat? For my last one, I had the Cinnamon Sleigh (bourbon, cinnamon spice, maple, orange twist, $15). This was a good sipping finisher with light cinnamon notes and those great orange aromatics. KJ was our server, and she was very sweet and friendly. We came early in the evening and it was a little slow, so we chatting with her quite a bit. I'd take a half point off for the two food items not coming with the listed items, but rounded up to five stars overall. The bill had a 3% charge added for using a credit card. They have a music trivia night on Thursdays which would be fun to try. We enjoyed our first visit here, and will definitely return again.

I headed back to the former Jimmy's Famous Tavern location in Brea. It was replaced by another…read moreplace, it's called Julep Cast Iron Kitchen and Drink. I came here last Thursday night hoping it's a good place to try. I've ordered Strawberry Margarita (cocktail), Fish and Chips, and Butter Cake. Fish and Chips was pretty good. Fish was nice and flakey which makes it delicious. Portion size of the fries was more than I expected. Pretty unusual for Fish and Chips or any other items that comes with fries. Strawberry Margarita.... Not bad... but I had better ones elsewhere though. Butter Cakes (includes ice cream).... Pretty good. It's freshly made. Great presentation. Very delicious. Service..... Good, but I feel they were a little slow. They should try to speed it up more. Heck, I work in hospitality... good service and efficiency are very crucial when it comes to sense of urgency. 4 stars.
