    Sausage sandwich
    John M.

I wanted to update my review since my last time I was here and got a sausage sandwich to go. As I waited for my order, I looked in the dining room and saw the lasagne being served to a customer and vowed to myself that I would be back to try their lasagne. Tonight found me back in Ozark, Alabama on business and I headed here for dinner. I found a seat in the dining room and ordered the lasagne. The salad was brought out and was good, though I would hazard a guess that the dressing was not house made (though few restaurants do make their own). The lasagne was good, it was very good. It was loaded with meat and a great feast The sauce was great and the meal was a winner. Here are a few things I can wish for that could make this restaurant truly exceptional. The menu is a bit small. My go to dish in an Italian restaurant is veal parmigiana. Here they only offer pizza, spaghetti with either meatballs or sausage, manicotti, or lasagne. I also understand that a restaurant must offer what the community will allow for it to sustain being a regular item on the menu. Perhaps here simply cannot. I also wish they would take a stab at making their own meatballs. With those complaints aside, this is a great restaurant, especially considering it is located in the relatively small market of Ozark, Alabama. If you find yourself here, try this restaurant.

Dined in for the first time in years after living in ozark my whole life, and it was absolutely wonderful. Our server Elizabeth was very friendly and efficient, and the environment was welcoming. Our food came out very fast and was delicious.

We were on the hunt for some Italian food in the Wiregrass area. This place did not disappoint. The pizza is great here. I did a build your own with jalapenos, black olives, and pineapple. Even though it was not listed as a pizza topping item I asked for fresh garlic and they came through. I really liked the flavor of the crust and sauce. It was not exactly thin crust but it was close. Another strong part of the meal was the dessert. Get the lemon cake. It was the right ratio of creamy and lemon tang. I could have eaten a few slices of this. My least favorite part of the meal was the Greek salad. It was nice sized and crisp, but it was missing a few items I usually associate with this type of salad like beets, green peppers, or some pepperchonis. It also had some water at the bottom. Our service from Kaylene was fantastic. She checked in with us each step of the meal. I will definitely come back to this restaurant.

Ordered a ton of food and it did not disappoint left with full stomachs and a happy family. Should have shared a pizza because it's a lot for one person but it mean more leftovers! 10/10 would come back for more.

The pasta & pizza is very good. Picked it up to go but the quality I'm assuming is just as good as if you were eating inside.

Best pizza in the area, and staff was extremely polite and welcoming. The restaurant was very nostalgic, we plan to eat in house next time.

I have not had pizza this good in this country, and VERY few overseas that compare. Da Matteo is in the building where County Line Pizza used to be, but is a completely different animal. Now, I was a big fan of County Line, and Chicago style deep dish in particular, But Da' Matteo is hand tossed, wood fired, and I hate to admit, but better than CL was... These are great slices, great servers, super fast and the price is much less than what they could charge, as there is simply no competition. The atmosphere is nice, clean, uncrowded and not noisy, but not overly fancy.... a great local pizza joint, and I hope they prosper and we can keep coming back......

After…read moreseveral visits there, no restaurant, trattoria or osteria would serve giant meatballs on top of the spaghetti . I'm not sure about the carbonara. There are two different ways to cook it truly Italian but no recipe that calls for cream or "peas" in it is Italian (The peas in the carbonara with crème fresh is a Gordon Ramsey variant while just using heavy cream is an American variation of this dish.) Now this is not to say their dishes aren't good, they are just not traditional Italian. My mother enjoyed the spaghetti and meatballs. She actually had to take part of it home. My carbonara was satisfying and the sauce was not runny. In Italy, bread is not an appetizer. You should eat it alongside your main protein or vegetable courses, use it to push food onto your fork, or save it for fare la scarpetta--using a small piece to mop up the leftover sauce on your plate after eating your pasta. Where the bread with olive oil served on the side comes from, I have no clue. Perhaps other items on the menu will be more traditional. Service - the little girl that took our order appeared to be over whelmed. It took me ten minutes to get the check Ambiance- neat and clean. But it was also very loud like an Italian restaurant is suppose to be

Very traditional presentation and I added a chicken breast to it to make it a full meal. The drink was a Camilia Row Tea and it was one of the best drinks I've ever had. Italian is my favorite food, so I went in with an open mind and was extremely pleased. First, the interior of this establishment was very impressive. It reminded me of a New York/LA vibe in downtown Montgomery. (With much better parking, of course. Lol). The seats were in a part of the restaurant that provided a view consistent with a VIP experience. Our server was extremely helpful, expedient, and thoughtful. From the meatballs, chicken, and Duck Lasagna, there wasn't one morsel that was not, absolutely, succulent. The meatballs were seasoned to their core. The chicken was very tasty and the sauce served with it was perfection. Now, the duck lasagna, that was the show-stealer. I was very interested on how this would taste, but soon found myself abandoning my table manners and diving right in. After dinner, I was given a complimentary dessert, and get this, a card signed by everyone in the restaurant wishing me a happy birthday. Chef's Kiss. As if that wasn't enough, I was given a complimentary drink for my birthday at the rooftop bar where I was treated to the best rum punch (bartender's recipe with blackberries) I've ever had in my life. The vibe, scene, and Mississippi Delta blues made for a perfect birthday outing! I will be going back as soon as I'm back in the city.
