Slow slow slow service. Food is mediocre at best. Don't come here if you have to be somewhere later because it takes so long to get food.

I was immediately greeted and had my order taken. You can tell the kitchen staff enjoys their job, as they were MERRILY singing along with the music that was playing. I ordered a build your own Chicago style deep dish, making it a margherita pizza + chicken. The pizza was SO GOOD, and came on a piece of cardboard to make it easy to take home. (I did not take any with me, I don't think it would reheat well in a hotel microwave.) They charge per topping when you do a build your own, but to me it was worth the price I paid. All staff interactions were great.

I like to make my own pizza with a garlic Parmesan base and I add tomatoes, feta cheese and red onion. It comes out absolutely delicious every time I've gotten it. I've also gotten the baked meatball sub, which is exactly how you want a baked sub to be it's perfectly crunchy bread with melted cheese and really great sauce on the meatballs. I've also gotten a small Mediterranean salad and I added chicken and the thing was huge. It took up the entire container and was a really good deal for all the food that you got. i've ordered a head on their website or using the Clover app and it's really easy. They never have any issues and everything's usually ready on time. I don't usually show up before the estimated time so I haven't had any problems with things being late. I've also gone in and ordered and just kind of sat and waited for me to go. This is the most traditional pizza shop type of place you've ever been to. It smells amazing when you walk in the door and all of the staff are really really friendly and have been quick to offer a drink while I wait or give me suggestions if I'm not sure what I want to eat. If I lived in town, I would come here so often it's really the perfect little neighborhood spot

Not so dire about GF tho. When you walk in you are greeted by the hostess. And the poster that shows the dish here that made it in to the "100 must try dishes in Alabama". The decor feels Bristo Comfy. About 11 wooden tables, mostly 4-tops. White metal chairs that really solidify the decor. Love the photos on the walls, especially "our adventure". I loved the coffee menu, and tried the dark elephant. Dark mocha with peanut butter--- yes pls. And adult Reese's cup in a mug! I also ordered the soup and sando combo, which sounds kinda plain... until you see the soups and sandwiches to choose from. And ... it allows you to try the dishes they are most known for , the red pepper soup and chicken salad. Whatever you order here, you will love. And the service. TippityTopTalent!! They serve all the dishes with a smile and are just sweet!! As I sit here, enjoying my meal and pondering.. it feels like the more accessible KBC.

Our server was great but harried as she had to wait tables on both sides of the restaurant. We started with the trout dip, which was delicious. There was a long delay between appetizer and entrees, but again, busy! I had the snapper Ponchatrain, which was honestly one of the best fish preparations I've ever had! Blackened snapper on a bed of delicious grits with a topping of crab and an amazing sauce made for a spectacularly yummy dish. My husband had a disappointing experience with the country fried steak. The steak was overdone and the breading didn't stick to the steak. Just not at all satisfying. We will be back but will choose our entrees more carefully next time. The food is top notch, but pay careful attention to what you order and you'll be happy with your meal!

We made reservations online and I would highly recommend you do especially for the weekend nights. Their bar area is first come first serve, but we've definitely been there when it is completely full so I wouldn't count on it as a backup plan. It is all street parking in this area and on a busy night. It can be hard to find parking unless you go down a block or two. We started with the okra, french fries and they were delicious! They come with a Sriracha aïoli which gives a little bit of heat, but it balances nicely with these perfectly fried okra fries. It also feels like there's cheese inside of the fried so you get kind of those gooey us along with the okra. Important to note no sliminess! My husband got the steak frites. The steak was definitely thinner than we recall having in the past, but it was perfectly cooked and the seasoning was great. The grits were also really delicious as well, although he wished they would've been just a little bit creamier. I opted for the southern fried steak, which comes on a bed of horseradish mashed potatoes. There were a ton of mashed potatoes on that plate and honestly kind of overwhelmed the steak. But the steak was really tender. I love the breading, although there were certain portions where the breading felt, it was almost too much as it was super crunchy. My husband got the KBC old-fashioned. He always asks for a little bit of cherry juice in his cocktail and the first round, It definitely was more cherry juice than it was liquor. The second one he asked him to just bring the cherry juice in a small container so he could control it and it was much better. I had their peach cocktail and it was absolutely delicious. Very easy to drink, but full of flavor with peach and ginger.
