Dr Gulyamov is from now on our family dentist, as my whole family are now his patients. I didn't want a dentist who would tell me what i want to hear, i wanted a dentist to tell me honestly what i must hear.

I moved to Melrose six years ago, and did some internet sleuthing to find one whose reviews didn't scare me and who took my insurance and chose Dr. Gianatassio. I was nervous for my appointment since it had been so long and I was SURE that I had cavities since I hadn't been a good dentist-goer. I checked in for my appointment early and was taken care of by a friendly front desk staff. Rhonda was my dental hygienist and she was professional, friendly, gentle, and didn't make me feel bad for slacking on going to the dentist for so long. She did a great job cleaning my teeth, and then I was seen by Dr. Gianatassio who confirmed that I had no cavities (YAY!) and was on my way. I was in and out in under an hour with a clean mouth and a whiter smile. The receptionist took my information, told me she would call me back, and I was under the impression that my appointment was scheduled for Saturday at 9:30 a.m. However, I became concerned when I never received a callback confirming whether my insurance was in network. When I called on Thursday, the office manager, Manuela, explained that they only verify whether insurance is in network as a courtesy, not as part of their normal process. After I asked, she checked and confirmed within a few minutes that my insurance was not in network. I appreciate that Manuela ultimately checked, but the lack of follow-up and communication left a poor first impression. I think this practice could improve by following through on promised callbacks, setting clear expectations about their insurance verification process, and communicating with new patients more proactively. Unfortunately, I'll be looking for another dental practice.

Dr. Mourmoutis was my dentist from 2012 to 2021, both in Melrose and later in Boston, and while his…read moremanner was not what I woud call very personable, I felt he was a good dentist who served me well for nearly 9 years. On more than one occasion I wrote post-visit personal notes to his office expressing my appreiation. However, composite resin bonding which he applied to my maxillary tooth #3 on 1/25/21 broke off during routine home dental hygiene (brushing and flossing) on 3/21/21. I returned to his office to have the bonding reapplied and he accused me of subjecting the tooth to severe non-routine stress, but agreed to re-apply the bonding without additional charge. However, he told me the second application would likely not last due to whatever abuse he thought I was subjecting the tooth. Despite his prediction, the second bonding application is still going strong 4 years and 4 months later because, I suspect, the second application was done more properly than the first. Unfortunately, however, that experience told me I needed a new dentist, hence the 4 instead of 5 stars.
