I am a nervous wreck when it comes to my teeth, until I was 13 I had no cavities, but then I had 33 all at once. I spent many afternoons at the dentist. Technology and prevention changed over the years, but due to earlier dental repairs I have needed root canals, 6 periodontal surgeries, extraction, implants, soft palate grafting and more. This is definitely a 5-star experience. From the front staff to the hygienist and doctor. The staff are friendly and definitely show a quality of care I have not seen before. The hygienist took the time to introduce me to a new water flosser with a video and hands-on instructions. Going to the dentist can be intimidating and feel like you are being criticized. Not here! I had my new patient appointment this morning and I can't really be more impressed. A lot of care and attention was put into getting to know me, my history, and any concerns I had on my teeth. The hygienist, Diane, was very good at explaining what she was doing and looking for, and also at explaining what she was finding. I'm lucky enough to only really need a cleaning, but I have every faith that should the need arise, they will be able to take care of me. Most painful dental appointment of my life and I didn't even get my teeth cleaned! I live close by so I decided to try this place out. The receptionist is amazing, she couldn't get me in for a couple of months but stayed in touch and called regularly when there was a cancellation. The hygienist was pleasant, we had good conversations about a variety of topics and she took a couple of X-rays. But when it came time for the hygienist to evaluate my teeth, it was the most painful thing to happen to my mouth and I have had cavities filled without painkillers! She jabbed the tool into my gumlime over and over again and barked out "bleeding" every time she jabbed. When she was done, I had tears in my eyes. She started to describe how they clean teeth and I couldn't open my mouth again, I was in so much pain it was involuntary. So I told her I didn't think I could handle it today. So she brought in the dentist who started off with, "How can I help you?" and said she didn't want to waste my time with an examination. I tried to explain how much pain I was in but the dentist cut me off and said that I must have never had a real examination before. Instead of responding to my desire to put off the cleaning for a day or two to allow my mouth to recover, the dentist said that it didn't seem like a good fit but she would give me a moment to think about what I wanted to do. The hygienist immediately escorted me to the receptionist desk where I was told about billing and before I knew what was happening, I was out on the sidewalk, mouth bleeding and puffy gums, no cleaning. I'm writing this 9 hours later and my gums still hurt. read more

So efficient with getting our previous records and no problems with insurance, etc...My husband had a "tricky" dental procedure that went off beautifully. Dr. Pam is awesome! Cannot day enough good thing about her and her practice. She's the go-to crown-specialist I go to whenever I need a new crown. I don't mind driving the long drive from the South Shore all the way up to Salem to see her. I know I'll get great and caring service by Dr. Pam and her staff, and the final product is always top notch. Everyone who has seen my crowns have said they look so real. Every time I have been to Salem Dental Arts, I have left feeling good and HAPPY, which was never really the case before with dental appointments. Dr. Maragliano and the dental hygienist, Diane, do a great job and they are both SO nice! Typically, other dentists will focus on what I am not doing right (not flossing enough, maybe some problem areas with brushing, etc), but this office has a different way of approaching the same problems. They seem to focus on the positive vs. the negative and end up encouraging me to improve my habits even more that way. They just have a really nice, caring approach to doing things that goes a long way with me. I always look forward to my appointments (which sounds totally crazy when talking about the dentist, I know!). Plus, the office is newly renovated and so cute. They also have really nice personal touches to the experience like aromatherapy - and even their branding is really nice. The office is also in a cute spot in downtown Salem.
