I asked about repairs both times, with almost 2 years between visits, I got the same response both times the repairman got sick & we're between repairmen An authentic hat shop experience should be easy to achieve with just one old-school, experienced hatter from that generation . Someone who could teach the crew & top brass how to run a real old fashioned hat shop. When I come to Manhattan I want to see that old neon Stetson sign and hear the whoosh of the steamer. I looked forward to it, like a piece of old New York. I miss that.

Young bimbos can hardly take the place of experienced ladies and gentlemen who understand haberdashery and used to hold court properly. Not only that, there is no longer a steaming machine available to clean, fit and block hats. Further, customers are forced to pay for such incidentals as feathers and cork linings, adding further insult to the "gentlemen's club" feeling that used to exist there. It's a shame that these folks have no idea what they are doing, and this store now exists in name only.

A week later, I received an email saying the hat had arrived. When I got to the store, the employee told me the wrong hat was ordered. I said fine, here's my number -- return it and get the correct one. Another week goes by, and when I come back, the same hat is still sitting in the box -- not even returned. Lazy employees, no urgency, and the store feels more like a hangout spot than a place of business. Customers shouldn't have to deal with this kind of nonsense. The sales rep never processed the return, so I had to request a refund myself. Still no hat, just wasted time and money (including paying for parking in SoHo). All I heard was, "Oh, I'm sorry." Sorry doesn't fix terrible service. Completely unprofessional -- everything about this place is trash. The store needs serious management or maybe just let AI run it because at least robots would do the job.
