Since I was planning to go on an international trip very soon, I decided to stop by and inquire about its boarding services. I thought Henry, the owner, did a wonderful job explaining the ins and outs of Pup Scouts' boarding services during our impromptu meeting. He even provided a quick tour of the facility. While the boarding situation seems pretty standard, I was impressed to learn that it is a cage-/crate-free environment. Prior to booking a stay, the dog must complete 10 hours of of doggy daycare. I was not surprised by this stipulation. However, I was shocked (in a positive way) to learn that the 10 hours of doggy daycare is free. While Pup Scouts is a business, this showed me that they are interested in ensuring that the dog is a good fit rather than just focusing on profits. Online booking makes things pretty easy for reserving a spot. In most cases, I have been able to reserve slots for doggie daycare a few hours before dropping off the dog (e.g., booking in the morning for an afternoon stay). In terms of price, I think Pup Scouts is on par (if not slightly lower) to compared to other places in the area. While I've met only a few members of the staff, both persons were very professional and seemed to really care about working with dogs. During every instance of dropping off and picking up my pup, 1-2 customers would highlight how much they enjoyed working with Pup Scouts.

We had an unexpected family situation and were sure we would struggle to find the right accommodation for her. She is very affectionate but suffers from a bit of separation anxiety. Pup Scouts was incredible. They ticked all of the boxes - no crates, 24/7 staff supervision, flexible drop off and pick up - like ANY TIME. Henry was so friendly and understanding. From the start - he answered all of my questions at the meet & greet, and did a wonderful job of introducing other dogs to our little one. He was methodical and thoughtful in integrating her into the established "pack". He is incredibly gentle and affectionate and she took to him immediately. All of the staff were incredible. Having a live web-cam to check in on our little fur-baby at any time was so helpful in keeping our spirits calm and reassuring us that she was being well cared for. Pup Scouts is fantastic!

He's a five-pound chihuahua who shakes when someone new walks in the room and basically lived on my lap or behind my knees. I'd worried a trainer would either give up on him or scare him worse, but from the very first day Gina put so much thought into making him feel safe. She texted that afternoon to say he'd already jumped into her daughter's arms. When he barely ate the first couple days and I got worried, she talked me through it and told me he'd come around, which he did. She took him on long walks around the park and the neighborhood to burn off his nerves before she ever asked anything of him. His crate became his safe spot at her house, a familiar place that was all his in the middle of a busy home with other dogs and parrots and training going on. And she started him on tiny, predictable rules, sitting before a door, coming when called, so he always had something he understood to hold onto in a new situation. She explained that for an anxious dog, knowing what to expect is half the battle. She also refused to pick him up every time he got scared, and warned me that part would be harder for me than for him. She was right. Somewhere around the second week he started smiling in the photos. He was hanging out with her little dogs and her family, going on field trips to the park and coffee shops, staying on his place while she walked away, heeling next to her. He knows sit, place, heel and here now, and he does them for me too. The turnover at my apartment took a couple hours and it was real work. She sat me down and explained everything before we ever touched the dog, then had me practice with Archie while she corrected what I was doing wrong. She's kept sending reminders and answering my questions since, including a few dumb ones about shampoo and brushes. Here's the part I still can't get over. We went to a party a couple weeks after he got home, which is a huge deal for Archie. He sat on other people's laps. He licked hands. He barely cowered. Six weeks ago he would have spent the whole night shaking under my chair. Everyone at the party noticed and commented on the change in his demeanor. I was a proud mama that day! If your dog is the anxious type, the one who hides, trembles, won't eat around strangers, or has to be carried everywhere, I really want you to hear this. A lot of trainers are set up for big confident dogs and don't know what to do with a scared little one. Gina does. She never rushed him, never forced him, and never made me feel silly for babying him all these years. She reads a nervous dog and meets them where they are, then slowly builds them up until they can handle the world on their own. That's exactly what Archie needed. I honestly feel like Gina is just getting started with him, and I'm already thinking of when I can work with her again. If you have a tiny, anxious dog and you're on the fence, go with Gina. I took my foster dog here for her first bath (with me). I booked a standard bath with a groomer and added a teeth freshener. Again, friendly staff. My foster dog was in a cone the first few weeks I got her and unable to get a bath. So she smelled pretty bad. The total time was around 2 hours. She looked clean and was happy after. I would rate the bath a 7.1/10 smell/cleanliness wise and how long it seems to have lasted. To be fair, it's summer and she enjoys long walks. I would maybe come here again and try the shower stations to bathe her myself.

In a high stress situation, Dr. Brody and his team handled the situation with professionalism not just for my pet, but for me as well, and that shows me a mark of a good vet who knows how to balance all aspects of pet care. I brought my Border Collie in with very specific, detailed instructions for a "pet trim" to improve her comfort and hygiene: Detailed scissoring and blending on the legs to avoid blunt, choppy cuts. Thinning shears to reduce density on her tail while maintaining the "flag" look. A "tunnel belly" and sanitary trim for cooling. Instead of the skilled scissor work I requested, they took the absolute "easy way out." They finished her entire grooming in 30 minutes (it usually takes an hour), and when I picked her up, she had been shaved to a 1/8th inch "puppy cut" all over. For a double-coated breed, this is devastating to their ability to regulate temperature. When I called to address this, they claimed I asked for an "all-over trim." In what world does a request for a blended, functional trim result in a total shave-down? To make matters worse, the staff member hung up on me, saying they were "really busy" and offered zero accommodation or apology for ignoring my instructions. It is incredibly disappointing to see a business treat a long-time customer with such blatant disregard. They clearly prioritize speed and high turnover over actual grooming technique and customer service. We will not be returning.
