Love this dentist and all the staff. Friendly, knowledgeable, and good at their jobs. Most importantly, they are trustworthy. I've always treated dentists the same as a mechanic for your car, when you find an honest one that does good work and you trust, you ride with them for life! After many consecutive bad experiences of dentists either flat out lying to me or trying to up sell me on services I actually didn't need I came across DD. Can't say enough about how happy I am with my treatment at Digital Dental. Dr. Tabar is gentle, yet thorough. She always takes extra time to explain what's going on throughout the procedure, does a great job educating me on my teeth, answers my questions thoroughly, and constantly checks in to make sure I'm comfortable. I've been seeing Dr. Tobar for almost 5 years and she's great! The office is clean and comfortable. The chairs have a general messaging feature that is very relaxing and you can watch Netflix while they work on you. Dr. Tobar is friendly and knowledgeable but doesn't try to upsell you. She also the one who does the teeth cleaning, not a hygienist and she is very through. She also doesn't lecture, you know if you've been flossing and so does she, but she doesn't shame you about it. Visiting Dr. Tabar is always a pretty pleasant experience, which is a great find in the world of searching for a dentist. Digital Dental was recommended to me by two colleagues. They cited the comfy chairs, Netflix, and pleasant experience with Dr. Tabar and assistant. I've found that I also really appreciate the thorough teeth cleaning, the honest (I need to floss more, big surprise) approach, and the lack of "upsell" from the team. I've asked them questions regarding conversations I've had with my parents' dentist whom I trusted a lot and they always seem to be on the same page regarding my teeth. Dr. Tabar cares - I was having a very concerning dental problem over Christmas vacation. I left a message at her office in the morning. The office was closed as she was on vacation and out-of-town, but she returned my message within half an hour to connect with me and express the urgency of needing to see a specialist based on my symptom description over the phone. Then, she proceeds to find and get me a same-day appointment with probably the only one open in the city (I know this because I made tons of calls to different practices, myself, to no avail). I've been a customer for a couple years now. I went nervously following a 5 year break from going to dentists. Dental work has not suddenly become my favorite thing, but Dr. Tabar is awesome enough to make it tolerable. She is honest, goes out of her way to make sure you understand procedures, and is likeable and friendly without being over the top about it and seeming put on. I trust her to do the best work she can and only what is medically necessary. They do offer cosmetic services, but that isn't something I'm interested in at this time, and they've never tried to upsell me or even mentioned anything cosmetic. Ive had appointments start a few minutes late...but I've also gone in one less than a days notice and been treated immediately in emergency situations. I dont mind waiting knowing I will receive thorough and quality service. Great dentist. read more

The office is very clean, equipped with modern machines, tastefully designed in soothing colors that underline Dr. Tabar's careful and attentive approach to dentistry. Dr. Tabar gives thorough proactive dental care advice with various options of treatment for long lasting healthy teeth and gums. Thinking ahead, that is nice. Good location too, not lumped together with all the other dentists at 450 Sutter. The costs are reasonable, average I think for the profession. For 5 stars it would have to blow my mind, perhaps get a manicure while I get my teeth cleaned (in addition to the massage chair) - plus the rating looks more authentic if not everyone just gives all the stars :) But seriously, I would recommend Dr. Tabar's office highly. read more

This is an amazing dental office! The staff is incredibly kind and super helpful! They always answer all my questions and make me feel super welcome when I'm there. They also know I travel for work so they make a point to call me 3 - 6 weeks before my appointment so they can fit me in. They aren't pushy and provide me with recommendations that are good for my teeth and health, not just to make a sale, which I truly appreciate. I've been going to them for a few years now and love that the chairs have massagers in them! Front desk is super nice, they explain their policies clearly and my first appointment was pretty straightforward. Dental staff are pretty nice as well. The dental hygienist/technicians do cleanings, which surprised me a bit, as the dentist has traditionally done my cleanings before. But they did a good job. I had a cavity that needed filled, which went fine as well. Novocaine injections always skeeve me out a bit when I go to a new dentist, but Dr Tabar is pretty good with the injections. The actual filling procedure was relatively painless. They also have monitors to play Netflix for patients during longer procedures which is nice, though I found I wasn't focusing very much on it anyway, haha. Massage chairs are a nice bonus, too! read more

I had a great experience with Dr. Tabar. Her office is very clean and modern with an easy all digital sign-in, massage chair, and digital pictures of what was happening inside of my mouth on a screen right above the chair. She saw me same day, was on time, and was very helpful about the pain in my mouth. Additionally, she gave good advice on my grinding and did a thorough exam of my mouth for habits that could lead to problems (cancer, jaw issues, pain) down the road. I have very sensitive teeth/gum lines and the cleaning she did was very thorough but gentile (unlike my last cleaning visit in NY where my hygienist had to numb my gumline and then I still needed to walk out in the middle of the cleaning). She called me 2 days later to make sure that my pain was gone and to follow up on a discussion we were having about a night mouth guard. Overall it was a very positive experience and I will not hesitate to return to Dr. Tabar. read more

I will start off by saying this is my 2nd yelp review, ever. The first one was a big thumbs up for a small business that I had a great experience with. That said, I just left my appointment at Digital Dental without getting any work done, because Dr. Tabar was yelling at me. And I mean yelling. This was her response to me bringing up that we were starting my 2-hour appointment, 30 minutes late (I work in the East Bay so commuted in for this and then had to get back to work afterwards). A fairly reasonable point to raise, especially since she did not begin with any acknowledgment that we were behind schedule (a simple apology for the delay would have sufficed). Instead she ranted about how everyone always thinks it's her (and her staff's) fault when they are running behind schedule. She yelled that they are not "just sitting back there chit chatting," (not sure where this came from unless another patient accused her of this?) and that the timing is out of their control because morning patients arrive late, pushing back the rest of her schedule. Totally get that, it makes sense. Also, totally understand she has had a rough couple of days (apparently). However, yelling at a patient for bringing up the delay is not only unprofessional but also just bizarre. I still can't believe that that actually happened. There was no way I was going to 1) let her anywhere near my mouth after that, or 2) support her business, so I told her I was just going to find a new dentist, picked up my things, and left. Prior, I had several previous concerns and negative experiences there, but gave the office the benefit of the doubt. - Inconsistent recommendations on the work required (based on the same Xrays, different appointments) resulting in me needing to get more work done and hundreds of dollars out of pocket. I'm grateful I did not go through with these after all and will be able to get a second opinion now. - Zero communication between her and my orthodontist (even after connecting them) resulting in me arriving to a (different) scheduled appointment only to discover that I couldn't get the work done. Instead of moving forward with the planned dental treatment, she used that time to call him. An absolute waste of my time and 100% avoidable. - After using the above entire appointment just to plan out and talk through the coinciding ortho/dental plans, arrived at the office today to discover yet another new item which was going to delay the entire process. Long story short - if you are only going for cleanings, it'll probably be fine. But, if you require a decent amount of dental work and would need to visit often or coordinate multiple appointments - I'd 100% go somewhere else. And to Dr. Tabar - one idea for mitigating the wait is to tell your morning patients that their appointments begin 10 minutes earlier than what you are targeting. That way when they run late, they are still likely on time. You mention that you are tired of people always running late - there are solutions. read more

Dr. Tabar is amazing! She is extremely knowledgeable and very kind. I feel like we've developed a friendship over the last couple of years, so I'm never afraid to go to the dentist anymore. Her dental hygienist staff are also very good. I had the easiest and most enjoyable teeth cleaning of my life today. There are massage dental chairs in this office... and Netflix on tv screens in every exam room. Super convenient location in the heart of FiDi. Can easily get a cleaning on lunch break or in and out in an hour sometime throughout the day. read more

Professional, efficient (it really is Digital), friendly and honest, DDP impresses me as well-managed practice with excellent staff that I recommend to anyone. Having not visited a dentist in several years, I called up DDP as a new client and got the first available appointment three weeks out. Upon arrival to their cozy third floor Financial District suite, I was promptly greeted by the receptionist and led to a computer where I typed and digitally signed my new client paperwork within five minutes. Before I could select a waiting room magazine, a friendly assistant led me to my patient chair equipped with adjustable electronic back massage and Netflix, quite Digital indeed. Being the discerning (i.e. annoying) customer I am, I elected out of receiving their recommended X-rays, which thereby makes it impossible for the doctor to fully examine my inner teeth and bone. Despite my stubborn refusal to follow their advised treatment, they politely explained the requisite risks, then obliged by letting me sign a waiver. DDP didn't act overly pushy to up-sell their services like some other dentists do, they seemed honest and trustworthy. The hygienist who proceeded cleaning my neglected teeth was very gentle, not once did I wince from an unexpected prod or poke. Dr. Tabar examined me to her best ability without having my X-rays, she confirmed I had no visual cavities or other oral ailments, then recommended scheduling a checkup in three to six months at which I might consider getting X-rays :) A satisfaction survey was emailed to me after my visit, so Digital. read more

Some people hate going to the dentist. Not me. I love going to the dentist. And I'm really not picky about who I see, either. Which makes it surprising, then, that I'd cut all the way across town (forgoing dozens of dentistries closer to work/home) for an appointment at Digital Dentist Practice. Why? My wife and I have now both gone to see a relatively new dentist in downtown SF - Dr. Maryam Tabar - and it was actually positive experience. She is the most gentle dentist I have ever had. It's really nice for those of us who have to work during the week she's open for appointments on Saturday. She's the only dentist in the office and along with her assistant is doing ALL of the work even the cleaning. The office itself is brand new with all modern equipment: computerized records and forms, new special drills and cleaning stuff, the chairs even give you a massage. Overall the office has a modern professional feeling. Dr. Tabar is extremely thorough - carefully checking for everything from cavities and gum disease to oral cancer. My wife has had a couple filling done. She has problems holding her jaw oper for long periods but Dr. Tabar has been very accomodating. I'm never going to like going to the dentist but I have at last found one I feel comfortable seeing. read more

From start to finish, the experience for both my wife and I was superb. The ladies from the front desk, to x ray tech, to hygienist, and finally the Dentist are all very kind, warm, and thorough in their explanation of procedures, and having their info prepared. I had come from a previous dental experience where there was always some confusion about my billing, insurance, etc... this office had everything prepared right from the start. Just finished a visit with a fantastic new dentist in downtown San Fra ncisco - Dr. Maryam Tabar. First of all let me say it's really nice that someone finally gets it - for those of us who have to work during the week she's open at no extra charge for appointments on Saturday. I put going to the dentist on the list of fun things to do just under ... well, let's just say I don't like it. With they're sharp metallic instruments and screaming drills it usually feels like you've signed up to be the demonstration dummy for a class on S&M. In contrast, Dr. Tabar was very gently. She used a sonic scraper (I think that's what it's called) instead of the metal scraping and it was sooo much better. She is also extremely through - carefully checking for everything from cavities and gum disease to oral cancer. Recently had my teeth cleaned by a very competent, considerate hygienist. The care I've received at Digital Dental has always been excellent on interventions as varied as placing an implant crown to placing a traditional one, after I had had a root canal. When I first came to Dr. Tabar, she quickly discovered a major infection under a tooth, an infection which had gone unnoticed elsewhere for quite some time. She referred me to the oral surgeon who removed the tooth, placed a bone graft and ultimately put in the post for the implant - all at an excellent standard of care. I couldn't be more pleased with the care I've received from Digital Dental, as well as from the specialists to whom Dr. Tabar has referred me when needed. read more
