Got a mammogram today and it was painless, the staff were helpful in rescheduling me cuz like a goofball I came in on the wrong day and they found me a spot two hours later the same day so I wouldn't have to come back! Then I had a wonderfully informative and friendly tech that preformed the mammogram (Kelly) she really made a less than pleasant thing to do kinda fun! Today I had an MRI done and needless to say I was very nervous because of being in a confined area. I was in a lot of pain and had a hard time standing. Brandon was t h e the tech performing this and was very patient, pleasant and accommodating. After speaking with him I felt I didn't need medication to relax and the process was uneventful. It was so nice to have this gentleman do the MRI. I also had other xrays done and the workers were so accommodating and caring especially since I was experiencing pain. This review is for Robert. Many people call this location often times when they've received the worst news of their lives. The lack of empathy and compassion from an employee my family has received is disturbing. I contacted the scheduling line to help schedule a STAT imaging and Robert answered with the worst attitude. Extremely unhelpful in terms of answering questions and really didn't care to help navigate this very challenging process. The first thing I told him was I understand that they are probably swamped and that I appreciate his time, and he was just completely dry and short with me. In my case I called on behalf of someone, but I can't imagine how patients feel when they call directly. The only helpful person we've encountered there so far was Mel. What a giant waste of time. Got a text that it was time to schedule my imaging. Hadn't seen a doctor in months so called to ask what they thought they had me scheduled for. Turns out they just have me on auto repeat for a mammogram and I need to schedule online. So I schedule an appointment on their website. Arrive at the office, am rudely told to stand in line, no one waiting, the girl was just sitting at her desk not helping anyone. After waiting more than 5 minutes she finally has me go to the desk. Asks me what doctor we're sending images to and I'm like I don't have a current pcp just send it to me. Then she tells me that since it's been 2 days less than a year since my last scan I will have to pay out of pocket. What the heck? Why send me a text weeks in advance and refuse to schedule with me over the phone and allow me to schedule at a time that's not allowed? What an enormous waste of my time, it's a 30 minutes drive from my home to this office plus the time that rude girl let me stand there while she did who knows what. I went here for a mammogram and asked the specialist to please wear a mask since she would be right in my face handling my breast. I was wearing and mask, and asked her kindly. She made a big fuss saying they were no longer required by corporate mandate to wear one, and she had the right to refuse my request. WOW. After more discussion she said she was complying under duress. What I want to know is What happened to customer service at this company? They are much more accommodating at the Pismo Beach location than in Santa Maria. Why wouldn't you just ask your employees with face to face contact to comply with a customer asking you to wear a mask? COVID is on the rise again. Women should not come here! Office person and tech was nice, but the doctor from Radiology Associates shouldn't be performing procedures on the female anatomy. Also the table for female use is medieval. I voiced my complaint after the procedure, and no one followed up. I had to call over and over to get a response to my complaint. My doctor sent out a referral September 5th as an order name as priority STAT and had to keep checking and calling back and fourth to see if they have received my doctor's referral or order and they keep saying they did not received it and has not been processed yet. I had to go to my doctor's office PERSONALLY to have them print out the referral order made by my doctor so that I could PERSONALLY HAND IT TO DMI SO THAT THEY WOULD GET MY REFERRAL PHYSICALLY!!! I am Medicare ONLY patient. Showed up 1/2 hour early as instructed when appointment was made for MRI. Was told I was 1/2 hour early and that my actual time "on the table" was 1 hour away. So much for good communication. MEDICARE patients NOTE: The front office will compute and DEMAND co-pay and/or co-insurance payments UPFRONT before your procedure. Robert (refused to give me his last name or employee ID number) said DMI would refuse to do the MRI if I did not pay upfront. This violates Medicare policy. It is the first time in 11 years on Medicare that money UPFRONT has ever been DEMANDED of me before completing ANY medical procedure (Even a recent emergency room visit did not DEMAND $$ upfront. When the bill came, I promptly paid it). To sum it up, I believe DMI is a part of the Medical INDUSTRY which is in what they do for the money. They appear to care little about you, your medical condition, or your good standing in the community in which you live. They treat you a like you were some indigent off the street and are looking for free services. One last thing, They will post your insurance card information and I.D. on their internet site, even though the DMI site is supposedly secure. We all know how good hackers and that even government sites have been compromised. This place is ridiculous. I have been calling for a week trying to schedule a ct scan without any success. They tell me they will call me and never do. I have to have this ct scan done to have surgery and you guys are not helping the matter. and then the owner says how sorry they are for my inconvenience and blah blah and put the number to number is the stupid number to call that a no one answers or b they put you on hold. I have very sensitive breasts and my technician Toni was so gentle, efficient, and all around wonderful. Easy check-in. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. No one loves mammograms but when you have to, this is a good place to do it. read more

Show up to my appointment get told the cant do the test as the dont have the machine. I had to get a CT scan on my sinuses and was also booked for a mammogram since I am in my 40's. They have three buildings, one is in Pismo and another in Santa Maria. SM is the closest to do both services so I had my appointment booked there. I arrived a few minutes early and was seen pretty quickly for the CT scan. Escorted back to the lobby and waited a bit for the mammogram. After the mammogram you get to take a rose with you. Mine is still blooming! Got my results back from the mammo, within 4 days. Cancer free! Hooray! Still waiting on results from the CAT scan. The staff was courteous and efficient and very friendly. Definitely would go back to them! read more

I have been waiting three weeks for the results of a mammogram, called at least 10 times and have been given the run around every time. This morning I got another bill for $200 for a scan I'd already paid $400+ for, and no one can tell me why or actually give me the results of the scan. I have a lump in my breast and I have had cancer before, so I am very worried. The only person that has tried to help has been Pam, but even still it's been a week of corresponding with her and I haven't heard anything. I'm at my wits end and I'm incredibly worried about my health. I would not recommend DMI. read more

Bad Patient/Customer Service! I have zero copay with my insurance. This place wouldn't give me a chance to make payment arrangements, bill me or anything. They wanted $140 up front before they'd even talk to me. I have a intestinal blockage, can't eat, loosing a pound a day of weight. And they don't care. Only about money. I was seen in the Santa Maria office and it was a wonderful experience, despite the crippling pain , but I can't blame that on them lol. I was able to get an appointment quickly and the front line staff was very polite and knowledgeable. The radiologist who read my spine MRI did an excellent job of reading my MRI and writing a thorough report which has helped me GREATLY in getting the doctors I need asap. read more

I had a guided biopsy of my thyroid yesterday at the Santa Maria office and was impressed from the moment I walked in. EVERYONE has a positive helpful vibe. The procedure is complicated (I had 5 biopsies) but I send a High 5 to Dr. B, Kari, and Becky who prepared all biopsies for the lab. I recently went here for a chest x-ray, the lady that did my x-ray was super disresepectful right off the bat and ignored me. I had requested for her to put a thyroid protecter around my neck because I have a thyroid condition (she did) and "took a picture" but then proceeded to tell me that the thyroid protector was covering up my lungs and took it off even though it only covered a small portion of my neck, I politely asked her to put it back on and to ask my mother about taking it off, she ignored me then walked out the door. The bitch came back in a couple seconds later and did not indeed put on the thyroid protecter. Terrible service, the staff and receptionists were AWFUL and horribly disrespectful. I would not reccomend this place to anyone. I also sense that there is a bit of racism going on considering im white and the majority of the staff are hispanic they give you dirty looks and attitude. Someone in oversight needs to inform this medical facility that it cannot demand full estimated payments in advance of treatment. Until patients receive care, front offices cannot know for sure what in total they will be billing specific patients for. That's why patients make payments on the way Out, After they've been seen, at the End of their appointments. It is against the law to make patients pay anything without first providing in writing a total of the estimated cost, what it is for, and how much of it they will owe; or what care they actually received and how much they do owe. It is against the law to keep a copy of patients' credit card information on file in their offices. Well, they can keep partial information, but they are not allowed to keep all of it, specifically the security code. If they've recorded your credit card information to keep on file with that info, report them. You know they have if they don't have to ask you for the security code and expiration date every time they process a payment. And people, don't provide all of your private information! They have no right to your credit card for permanent storage, your driver's license number, or your social security number! All they need is your name, birth date, and medical insurance ID number. They cannot deny you treatment if you don't provide those other pieces of information. If they do, walk out and report them! Report them to both the state and to your insurance company. By the way, they shouldn't be getting all that info from you online and keeping it anymore than they should at the imaging facility. Everyone who's been faced with demands of payments before receiving care and without being provided a written estimate of or the actual services and your cost should join us in reporting them to the state of CA and your insurance companies. Furthermore, this facility really shouldn't be demanding any payments at all before insurance-processing until it gets its act together. Its billing office and process are messed up. First, Digital Medical Imaging (DMI) is owned by Pueblo Radiology Medical Group (PRMG). That's who bills *us* anyway, although once it was some group out of Louisiana. Despite our going to the same facility each time, on insurance EOBs there are different entities listed for receiving payments. Who are we actually giving our business to? We have no idea. At this juncture, I'm assuming it is PRMG because that is who I last paid. Second, there are frequent billing problems. For our very first visit, the billing office did not submit a clean claim, meaning it submitted a claim with mistakes to the insurance company, so the claim was denied as out-of-network. We paid almost $300.00 to PRMG only to discover DMI *is* in our network. The payment was not applied to our in-network deductible and we were out almost $300.00. Fixing the problem is an added bureaucratic hassle, requiring working with both the insurance plan and trying to get a refund from PRMG, because how the insurance plan handled it was to send a payment to PRMG even though we'd already paid them the full amount months ago! There have been other billing problems due to the billing office submitting unclean claims. Also, we receive bills after we've paid-in-full, which is confusing and now we are overpaid. Additionally, on one EOB, a claim was either resubmitted or just reprocessed for some reason without recording that it was. I have one EOB that says our co-payment was one amount, and another EOB for a later processing date, showing we owe a higher co-payment than is listed on the first. Now, I don't know if that was due to action on the part of PRMG or the insurance company (both screw up on a regular basis), because with the insurance company, there is no record of the EOB change. The only reason I know someone did that is because I'd printed out the first one from my online account and when I went back later, it was changed. There is supposed to be a record of every processing of each claim so patients can see where changes were made and why, but in this case, the first has mysteriously disappeared. Again, I don't know that it is because of DMI/PRMG versus the insurance company's claims processor, but since DMI/PRMG has problems getting its claims submitted correctly, the issue is included in this review. Finally, the last visit to DMI required an MRI. The claustrophobic patient was told an open MRI machine would be used, but it wasn't. The patient was not a happy camper and came home feeling concern that patient care was lacking. read more

My appointment was at 12:45 and they have a sign that says to be here 15 mins before, so i get here 15 mins before and the front desk tells me im too early, so I wait and its been 15 past my appointment! The wait is forever. P.s do not show up 15 to 20 mins late because there is a late fee, but they call you in late either way? Up until now I would have given a five-star review. But my most recent experience was not a good one only related to getting results to my doctor. The person administering the MRI was outstanding. My doctor waited for days for the results then I called and was told that I had to give them a fax number and they could send just the report not the disc. I ended up having to go pick up the disc and the report and take it personally to my doctor two and a half hours away. There needs to be a better way for this place to get needed especially abnormal results to the doctors expeditiously. This was totally unacceptable. Would be nice if Yelp permitted separate reviews for in-house technicians and separate reviews for their policies on how things are handled to get results to doctors. The technicians deserve a five-star. read more

I had a grest experiance here today. The reception was very nice and the imaging guys were great, no pain, even he iv was a piece of cake. I had a horrible experience at Cottage hosital 6 years ago, they were under constuction and their MRI machine was in a trailer and it was very small, i had a rotator cuff injury. Having had several scans done over the last 10 years, I have been very satisfied with the services that I've received from Digital Medical Imaging (DMI). Yesterday's experience was close to dehumanizing with the carelessness in the administration of my MRI scan. To give one better perspective, I'm an 84 year old male who has had several fusions in my lower back along with a broken Sacrum from a fall. I have had multiple pain injections which allow me to ambulate with a cane and a walker. The technician who assisted me helped me to get on the MRI flat platform, which is hard to get comfortable on for a person with my back and pain issues. The technicians seemed to rush the process. I was specifically told that I would be asked not to breathe for a few times during the scan in order for the scan to get still shots. I am hearing impaired, but have always been able to hear verbal directions in any MRI I've ever had. I heard no direction to not breathe and afterwards asked the technician about that. He said that he gave me verbal commands and that it didn't matter that I didn't hear them, and that they got good pictures. I hope so! Assisting me in getting me off of the MRI platform, the technician, as I was trying to sit up, pushed me very hard to help me to sit up, but 84 year old muscles just don't work that way. It caused me great pain and I yelled at the extreme pain. It still hurts as I write this. I would suggest that DMI require their technicians to undergo training about dealing with people of older years and the pain & hearing issues that many elderly folks have. read more

An appointment was made by office staff who was flexible and primary and sent the in work order, 10:00 am was scheduled time and at 10:05 am I was escorted to radiology. The Technician explained everything and was perfectly instructive. She did not work in a hurry like a so many others do in the field. God experience for an ordinarily bad event. read more

The facility is well laid out, with ample seating in the waiting areas. I've been there twice for an MRI on my back. I'm a large guy, and need the Open machine they have at this Santa Maria facility. The second time, I was in a lot of pain and it looked like I was not going to be able to lie still thru the test. The technician who did my testing, Amber, is an angel. She was beyond patient, very understanding, and was able to help me get through the full process. The resultant slides helped my surgeon identify the cause of my pain. I'm very pleased with the staff and equipment at this facility. It was well worth the drive from Templeton. read more

One of the girls did what my Dr's office wouldn't and initiated an authorization request for my MRI and got it taken care of that same morning. Check in was good. The front desk girl was friendly. Good timing to be seen, ( granted I arrived early ) I was a little concerned about having an MRI with contrast done, but was quickly put at ease. All the nurses greeted the waiting room, the assistant was personable, friendly and explained the procedure thoroughly. Then the one who did the injection was even more thorough. The women at Digital Medical Imaging (there may be men on the staff but I have never met any) are really wonderful. I have been there numerous times for mammograms and also for xrays when I broke some ribs a few years ago. They have always been very kind, efficient and caring. My most recent mammogram was great and I am very happy they got the new 3D imaging machines - it's faster, better and so Star Trek! Nancy was my technician (if that is the right word) - she was outstanding: warm, sensitive, caring, efficient. Her sense of humor and transparency about every aspect of our interaction was deeply comforting. She has so much experience and is very warm. I felt very reassured in her capable and kind hands.
