I used DiJiFi on the recommendation of a knowledgeable friend, first to digitize some very old 8mm and 16mm family movies, and then to digitize a large box of photos. They met their time prediction and did a great job; I would use them again for any job where I cared about the quality of the result. The images and movies were clear and high-resolution, and they took excellent care to name the resulting files so it was easy to match them back to their source. They do cost more than some other services (e.g., Scancafe, I have not used them), so they may not be the best choice for a high-volume job. Their office in Greenpoint, Brooklyn is about a ten-minute walk from the subway entrance; parking is easy, so is biking. Greenpoint has other advantages, so if it's not your regular neighborhood it's a great reason to visit. read more

I needed a large black and white ink drawing from the 70s scanned. When I went to drop off the piece at Dijifi they mentioned that because of the fine lines in the drawing, there was a possibility of artifacts in the stiched scanned image that they might not be able to fix. I was a bit nervous about this as scanning jobs can be bit pricy.. I got the image today and it looks perfect -- no artifacts, just a very good high quality scan. They also said it would take three weeks, but when I told them I was leaving and needed the image straight away, they were able to change the turnaround time to a week. Overall customer service was quite good and the scan looks perfect. I was happy with Dijifi and would recommend to anyone in need of quality scanning services. read more

I had some old 8mm family films archived and transferred by the friendly staff over here at DiJiFi. My films contained priceless memories of my family and childhood from a long time ago, and although they were physically well preserved, I had been unable to view them for many years since I did not have the necessary film projector and related equipment. I searched around for a while and found many places that would offer to do a "transfer" to DVD, but I quickly learned that all these processes are NOT the same. Furthermore, many companies required me to send my precious films to them through the mail, something I was not willing to do. I finally found DiJiFi and after speaking to Jesse in detail about the process they utilize, I knew I had found the perfect place for what I wanted done. I could tell how passionate they were about the job they were doing from the conversations I had over the phone with them. Jesse explained to me in detail about the process they utilize as well as the equipment they use to accomplish this. Most other places tried to brush me off the phone after a minute or two, and really would not explain the details of their transfer process to me when I asked. I went with DiJiFi because they took to the time to speak with a potential customer and were very courteous in doing so. Because I had a large amount of film, they arranged to have an employee PICK UP the order from me at my location. This was an unexpected bonus as I was able to physically hand over my films in person and avoid having to worry if my film would be lost or damaged in the mail! The turn around was very quick, about 1 week for me. The price was EXTREMELY reasonable for the level of service and quality that I received on the work they did for me. In addition to the frame by frame scan of my film that was transferred to DVD, I also got the uncompressed files archived to a hard disc drive - these are like a master copy, as good as the original film in all respects. Anyone who has seen the DVD with my film (some of the footage was over 55 years old) is extremely impressed with the work that was done. I am very pleased with the entire job that was done for me, and I should mention that I can be a very demanding customer sometimes! I would not hesitate to recommend DiJiFi to friends and other family members who need to have the same service performed. Dijifi transfered 18 Mini DV and 2 audio cassettes to my own external hard drive. With pickup and delivery it cost me less than (2) 8 minute VHS to DVD transfers at Duggal. The big plus for me was the pick up/drop off service. If I had to get to Brooklyn, this would never had happened for me. Now I can show my 8 year old a clip of herself eating her first solid food. Pretty cool for less than $300 bucks! read more

We brought DiJiFi several manilla envelopes of family photos--601 photos, to be exact--stretching over nearly a century. We asked for scanning and color tweaking, to remove discolorations due to age and poor initial film quality, and we were given a quick quote and estimated completion date. DiJiFi nailed it on all fronts. The quote was accurate, the project completed exactly on the date estimated--and, most importantly, the resulting scans were of very high-quality. They even kept our photos organized as we had presented them, and without a hint that any human hands had touched them. I'm really not sure how we could have been more satisfied. read more

I recently had my parent's 51 year old wedding film transferred to HD at DiJiFi and I'm very happy with the results, not only the great transfer, but the way the folks at DiJiFi handled me and my film. I do not recommend this place, at least not for VHS to DVD, my husband had a few tapes transferred with them, the DVD conversion was of very, and I mean very, bad quality. The customer service was extremely unhelpful. We spoke to the owner, Franco, and hoped to get them to fix it, his response was rude and we ended up having to go to a different place to get it done right. read more

I spoke to someone the phone about what it would cost to digitize a full HI-8 reel and put the output on a DVD. He told me $10 to digitize and $5 for the DVD. When I got out there, a LONG walk from the subway on the hottest day of the year, I was told $18 to digitize and $8 to put on a DVD. I turned around and walked out. I came here because another store in Manhattan almost ripped me off by quoting me $10 (!!!) per scan of a standard 35mm slide - uh wait, are you sure I asked the man - yes he said. My mother discovered a bunch of Super 8 reels. This discovery was especially important since my brother, who died two years ago, was in these films. DiJiFi transfered these ten reels (circa 1968) into digital file compatible for Mac and PC (giving me the flexibility of using either iMovie or Movie-Maker for editing). The price was right, the service was good and besides cleaning the film and giving me a digital file on flash drive, they also stored the original films in 2 metal reel containers, replacing the cardboard boxes they were stored in for the past 48 years. Went to DiJiFi with over 4000 35mm negs (B&W + Color) and transparencies, 110 format negs, oddball Kodak Disk negatives, 8mm motion picture film for scanning. Jessie and Matt were always excellent at communicating any questions and Carolina kept me informed via email and phone as well. The level of production quality is as good as ScanCafe and the price competitive, but right here in Brooklyn where a face to face meeting was possible for setting up the project. This was important, as these were not even my own photo archives, but a client's. The project was delivered on time and on budget, with solid communication whenever necessary and carefully packed and delivered by hand to Manhattan, no charge. All in all, DiJiFi did everything requested, kept all the physical negatives, etc. in original folders and in order. When shipping valuable photo archives is not an option, DiJiFI is the perfect NYC solution. They will see me again. read more

I was looking to convert an old VHS tape on to DVD. The pricing was reasonable - I had a Yelp certificate, which made it even better - and the quality of the transfer was excellent. It did take a while for them to complete my conversion - this one VHS tape took a couple of months, IIRC - but I can't knock them for it because they did run the pick-up date by me when I dropped off my order and I okayed it since I wasn't in any hurry. This review is long overdue, last November I brought some very old but very precious 3/4 inch video tapes to Digifi - they contained recordings very important to me, and I thought that there was not hope, having tried other methods and companies to get the information off this outdated medium. Not all the recordings from the tapes were able to be recovered, but most were and at the very least, all of the sound tracks survived.
