This is my regular stop for the best tasting to go Dim Sum around. They have so many varieties and service is super fast. If you do want to eat in, there are about five tables, but this is a 90% to go kind of place. They have the best shrimp and chive dumplings and their black beans spareribs are so tasty! This is one of the only places you can still get peanut Fong gore , a.k.a. Chu Chow dumplings and they're absolutely delicious, with a nice five spice flavor. If you're spending less than $20, there's a cash only policy. They have the old school, hot chili oil and little containers. Make sure to ask for that. So it's great if you just want to sit and have a quick snack. We went a little later in the day so they were completely sold out of the chive dumplings and the fried shrimp. The portions are generous and reasonable for the price. The signs say you can mix and match but I'm not sure how that worked so we just ordered 1 order (3 pieces) each. Their dim sum is good, but words of caution: ALWAYS ask for and check your receipts. They seem to have a habit of over/double/wrongly charging you for items. Before I started to ask, I sometimes got the thought of "I didn't get that much stuff, why was my total so high?" Today was the third time it's happened. It's also happened twice to a friend. I maybe can understand if it was busy, but today both cashiers were working and only one person was behind. Is it intentional, don't want to say. But this many times is more than a coincidence. This is probably my new favorite place to grab dim sum. Everything that I've tried here has been delicious! They are better than the dim sum at some of the restaurants we've been to (except for the ha gow and cheung fun. The wrapping on the ha gow is thicker than restaurants and the cheung fun was not as silky soft, but good enough for the price you pay for). My top favorites is the big pork bun with green onion and the crispy baked bbq pork bun. The Portuguese egg tart and regular egg tarts are both spectacular! We also tried their iced hk milk tea which is nice and strong. If you order under $20, they will only accept cash only. Service was friendly and quick. Highly recommend you coming to try here! Offerings - Siu Mai: Yup! These are good. I would say maybe 10% less good than ABC but the flavor and texture is definitely satisfactory. - Shrimp Noodle Roll: I can tell these are not made fresh to order but they still satisfy that craving. Not bad - Pork Bun: My husband is the connoisseur of these in our household and he says they are better than ABC, which is saying a lot. - Wonton Soup: This was excellent. Love this place! This is my go to meal after playing pickleball at Garcia bend park. The orders are pretty big and reasonably priced, and very tasty. The pineapple bbq pork bun is so fresh and tasty with lean meat, and is my bf's go to order. They have the best HK milk tea, and although it's a bit pricey for the size, it is the best one I've found so far. I just wish they had larger sizes. Make sure to bring cash, because you can only use card with $20+ orders. Additionally, they charge extra if you choose to dine in, so we usually order it to go to avoid the big fee. There's a couple tables inside if you do want to eat though. The line moves pretty quickly, and the parking lot is big because it's in a plaza. read more

They offer very tasty dim sum, at reasonable prices, and - important! - they offer a number of options that you can't get at ABC. Their egg buns - holy moly - are to die for, and that's one that ABC doesn't do. Often times my daughters will say "I want the yellow bun!" and off we go to Dim Dim. Everything we've had there has been good / solid, and one other thing I like is that if you aren't wanting to grub right now, you can get frozen dim sum to go, too. This also helps because the downside to this place is very limited hours. They close early, but so it goes. Seems to be common for dim sum spots like this. Ambiance is minimal - I really treat it as a to go spot - but it's clean, folks are friendly, and the selection is good -- though I have had a couple of experiences where things sell out. ~Hidden Gem for Dim Sum~ I was craving Bolo Bow for my drive back to So Cal. So stopped by here on Saturday Morning :) There was a large selection of dim sum items. There is even frozen food too! Food: I ordered Bolo Baos and Pineapple Buns. The Pineapple Buns have custard filling too. There were both delicious. The ratio of meat and custard filling to dough were the perfect proportion. Parking: Dim Dim is located in a shopping plaza so there is lots of parking. If you're trying to get the bolo baos, I would make sure to go early or call ahead so they can put some on hold! They sell frozen bags of dimsum which really caught my eye because my sister loves them, and the prices are pretty good as well. Then they opened a new location in Elk Grove and this original location immediately went completely downhill - frequently out of cooked items and low-to-no stock for frozen. They also have a chicken one that I want to try! The chiu chow dumpling is a family favorite. It's savory and a little spicy. It does have peanuts inside, so beware if you're allergic. I've made it my mission to hit every Sacramento takeout dim sum spots and Sunday I had the chance to try Dim Dim Food. I can across this place just searching for dim sum spots near the pocket area as I had just dropped my partner off at work. Dim Dim Food was five minutes away so I decided to give it a go. As I walk in there was a good amount of people already in line to get their grub on. There is some seating inside for those who want to eat in house but it's not like you're traditional dine in experience. The staff is pretty friendly and helpful walking you through the ordering process. I ordered the siu mai and har gow as those are really my only go-tos anywhere I go. The siu mai was packed with flavor and meat and was very tasty. The har gow was also very good and not as chewy as some of the places I've had it at. Overall I would definitely recommend this spot to any dim sum enthusiasts. It's very much worth the drive from wherever you're located in the Sacramento area. First time here and we were extremely happy with their Big Buns. Not only are they huge but the filling inside is more than other places we've purchased from. Very flavorful and lot of bun for a great price $3! We also liked their fried shrimp balls, egg tarts, and regular size buns. What we didn't like were the chicken pies & curry beef pies (minuscule filling) and the ham sui guk (super greasy, minuscule filling.) Service here was top notch! Recently Learned about this place and I decided to try it. Service was quick and the place is clean. Arrived around 2 PM in the afternoon and they still had a decent amount of choices. They were sold out of about a third of their selections and only had a couple portions left of others. I would suggest to arrive early so you can have more choices. I got a few different things, including chicken, dumplings, shrimp and chive dumplings , fried taro, fried shrimp balls, beef noodle, and Matcha sesame ball. They put a decent amount of filling within the dumplings and everything had great flavor. They had more options than ABC bakery typically has by the afternoon. I loved the matcha sesame ball! Dilemma: Do I five star this place or four star this place? That is the question? For some added context, I'm from LA and used to eat all over the San Gabriel Valley (SGV) area. For some more context; my favorite dim-sum EVER was in Vancouver, BC at Sun Sui Wah and Western Lake. Now, with that said...I'm going FIVE stars because we're in Sacramento. If this dim sum was in Vancouver, it would be a 3.5 at best. However, we are nowhere near the water, with a small Chinese population, and sorry to say; it's Sacramento. A developing part of California that just isn't quite "there yet" in terms of culture and food. It's a great place to buy a home and raise your kids, but food choices are really lacking here. From a big city perspective of course. In summary, I'm going with dim dim as being a 5 star dim sum because of its quality, price point, and that it's in Sacramento. I am absolutely amazed by this place! Seriously--no words can express how happy I am to no longer have to drive all the way to San Francisco Chinatown for my buns. I'm very picky about my buns, and everything I got today was perfect--the size, the texture, the seasoning... and the price! I've tried mantous from various places around Sacramento, but none could compare to the ones from Chinatown--until now. This place actually beat them! I recently have been coming here more often for their frozen red bean baos. They are great for snack time! Also I like getting their black bean garlic chicken feet because they are soaked in flavor. I think ABC got new owners and their baos taste different now. They don't have the nostalgic taste that I grew up with so I rarely go there now. Dim Dim opened an Elk Grove location which I have yet to check out, but this location is closer for me. One thing I wish they had were more people to help at the front counter. My lunch break is 30 minutes and during my most recent visit, the person in front of me took forever to order. They kept adding on dim sum items to their order. I ended up waiting over 20 minutes whereas I was only getting one item. When I got there the line was just me and this one person. When it was finally my turn to buy my bag of frozen baos, there was a longer line. Adding just one person to help would've prevented the line hold-up. read more

We got the "crispy" baked pork buns (had that nice crust that's on pineapple buns), pork and shrimp siu mai, potstickers, and pineapple buns and sesame balls. It was actually a lot of food for about $36. The flavorful siu mai were big, juicy and tender. The pork buns are the best with that nice crust and filled with the sweet and savory pork. I also really like the crunchy topped chasu baos, not sure what theyre actually called.
