This is a great place to get your dim sum to-go. They also have frozen selections, so you can steam freely at home for patties! I absolutely love their chive dumplings that have shrimp. They also are one of the few places in town you can get chiu chow dumplings- like the peanut bun or that older Asian people would regularly have at Dim Sum back in the day. They have the best black beans. Dish also love the way they spice it. Not really a place to come and have lunch unless you have somebody who just really loves Dim Sum it doesn't mind I kind of crappy dining room where the lines of default might be up against your table on a busy day. I also like that they have the traffics spicy chunky chili oil when somebody of the to go Dim sum places just have Sriracha or oil and vinegar packet. This dim sum bakery is a gem and they're opening up a second location in elk Grove, which I'll have to try since I'm sure it'll be bigger and fancier than this one. Their dim sum is good. But their 'Chinese' estimated timing is very inaccurate. When I ordered at the counter, they told me to wait 10 mins for some items to come out, so I paid and waited. It turns out "40+ mins" later it came out. This is probably my new favorite place to grab dim sum. Everything that I've tried here has been delicious! They are better than the dim sum at some of the restaurants we've been to (except for the ha gow and cheung fun. The wrapping on the ha gow is thicker than restaurants and the cheung fun was not as silky soft, but good enough for the price you pay for). My top favorites is the big pork bun with green onion and the crispy baked bbq pork bun. The Portuguese egg tart and regular egg tarts are both spectacular! Love this place! This is my go to meal after playing pickleball at Garcia bend park. The orders are pretty big and reasonably priced, and very tasty. The pineapple bbq pork bun is so fresh and tasty with lean meat, and is my bf's go to order. They have the best HK milk tea, and although it's a bit pricey for the size, it is the best one I've found so far. I just wish they had larger sizes. Make sure to bring cash, because you can only use card with $20+ orders. Additionally, they charge extra if you choose to dine in, so we usually order it to go to avoid the big fee. They offer very tasty dim sum, at reasonable prices, and - important! - they offer a number of options that you can't get at ABC. Their egg buns - holy moly - are to die for, and that's one that ABC doesn't do. Often times my daughters will say "I want the yellow bun!" and off we go to Dim Dim. Everything we've had there has been good / solid, and one other thing I like is that if you aren't wanting to grub right now, you can get frozen dim sum to go, too. This also helps because the downside to this place is very limited hours. They close early, but so it goes. Seems to be common for dim sum spots like this. Ambiance is minimal - I really treat it as a to go spot - but it's clean, folks are friendly, and the selection is good -- though I have had a couple of experiences where things sell out. ~Hidden Gem for Dim Sum~ I was craving Bolo Bow for my drive back to So Cal. So stopped by here on Saturday Morning :) There was a large selection of dim sum items. There is even frozen food too! Food: I ordered Bolo Baos and Pineapple Buns. The Pineapple Buns have custard filling too. There were both delicious. The ratio of meat and custard filling to dough were the perfect proportion. Parking: Dim Dim is located in a shopping plaza so there is lots of parking. If you're trying to get the bolo baos, I would make sure to go early or call ahead so they can put some on hold! Then they opened a new location in Elk Grove and this original location immediately went completely downhill - frequently out of cooked items and low-to-no stock for frozen. I ended up waiting over 20 minutes whereas I was only getting one item. When I got there the line was just me and this one person. I can across this place just searching for dim sum spots near the pocket area as I had just dropped my partner off at work. Dim Dim Food was five minutes away so I decided to give it a go. As I walk in there was a good amount of people already in line to get their grub on. There is some seating inside for those who want to eat in house but it's not like you're traditional dine in experience. The staff is pretty friendly and helpful walking you through the ordering process. I ordered the siu mai and har gow as those are really my only go-tos anywhere I go. The siu mai was packed with flavor and meat and was very tasty. The har gow was also very good and not as chewy as some of the places I've had it at. Overall I would definitely recommend this spot to any dim sum enthusiasts. It's very much worth the drive from wherever you're located in the Sacramento area. Very flavorful and lot of bun for a great price $3! We also liked their fried shrimp balls, egg tarts, and regular size buns. They were sold out of about a third of their selections and only had a couple portions left of others. I would suggest to arrive early so you can have more choices. Dilemma: Do I five star this place or four star this place? That is the question? For some added context, I'm from LA and used to eat all over the San Gabriel Valley (SGV) area. For some more context; my favorite dim-sum EVER was in Vancouver, BC at Sun Sui Wah and Western Lake. Now, with that said...I'm going FIVE stars because we're in Sacramento. If this dim sum was in Vancouver, it would be a 3.5 at best. However, we are nowhere near the water, with a small Chinese population, and sorry to say; it's Sacramento. A developing part of California that just isn't quite "there yet" in terms of culture and food. It's a great place to buy a home and raise your kids, but food choices are really lacking here. From a big city perspective of course. In summary, I'm going with dim dim as being a 5 star dim sum because of its quality, price point, and that it's in Sacramento. Move over ABC....Dim Dim Food is my new go-to for takeout dim sum. We got the "crispy" baked pork buns (had that nice crust that's on pineapple buns), pork and shrimp siu mai, potstickers, and pineapple buns and sesame balls. It was actually a lot of food for about $36. The flavorful siu mai were big, juicy and tender. The pork buns are the best with that nice crust and filled with the sweet and savory pork. Tried out some dim sum to go here. It's hidden deep within the Pocket area so you have to be committed, but the food was good enough that I'll return. Plenty of free parking in the strip mall and they also take credit card with a $10 minimum. Chicken big bun - fluffy bao dough and generous portion of chicken (with a boiled egg and inch of Chinese sausage encased inside the meat). Would definitely get again. Pork big bun - similar to the chicken bun but includes chives so it is more herby tasting. If you're buying both, the pork has the yellow dot on top to help distinguish. Pork/Shrimp siu mai - comparable to ABC in size and flavor. If you order fresh they cost slightly more, and if you order frozen, they are slightly cheaper for a dozen. Would come back to try this and other frozen dumplings. Chives dumpling - shrimp and chives in a rice flour dumpling. Generous meat portions and tastes great if you like chives. Cilantro dumpling - similar to the chives dumpling but with cilantro instead. I preferred the chives flavor slightly but liked both. Sticky rice in lotus leaf - flavor and filling was ok, but the rice was softer/wetter than I prefer. Would likely skip next time. Taro bun - I love purple so this was very pretty. It's not too sweet either but rich tasting from the taro filling. I would get this again for my mom and SO. Matcha sesame ball - handles reheating in air fryer well. It was still chewy inside and packed with nutty sesame filling. Hard to pick up the matcha flavor though. Would get this or regular sesame ball next time. Curry beef pie - delicious buttery flaky crust. If you like curry you will like this. I'm not the biggest fan so would skip this next time. BBQ pork pie - another great crust and the filling was delicious but for the same price I prefer the meat to pastry ratio of the ABC pork puff.
