And general tso chicken was average but the sauce was watery in the bottom. And weird fishy smell in water cup. I had to get different cup for it. Then it was better. Robot serving machine was serving food but the waiting staff put it on table for us. So i don't really know the purpose for the robot but it was fun. We really enjoyed our dinner and there was a lot to choose from but don't come here if you're expecting a traditional Dim Sum experience. Usually there isn't a menu and numerous servers are pushing carts throughout the restaurant and explaining what they are offering. That's half the fun. You have a chance to sample all kinds of dishes, usually small bites and can order as many or as little as you like. Here you are ordering off a menu like any other restaurant. It's not a bad thing but it's really not Dim Sum. The menu is large with many great sounding dishes. They had Peking Duck that you don't see on many menus and it was delicious. Really quick service, the staff members are all polite, and they the food is all hot and tasty. The restaurant has nice decorum that doesn't feel tacky despite plastic plants and soft lighting that normally wouldn't work. Everything seems priced appropriately as well and isn't trying to rip you off for a fun meal for a date. We were on our way to Legoland in Plymouth Meeting and got lucky that we found delicious Dim Sum Factory along the way. It is a beautiful space inside that is perfect for families, dates or groups. We were also lucky enough to have a FABULOUS server who was so sweet and had the best energy. We ordered a few different dumplings to try, a bun, noodles in brown sauce, ribs AND at the very end the orange chicken. All the food was delicious, and delivered by a fun cat robot (our 7 year old thought this was the best part). The ribs has a sweet and tangy sauce and were just the right amount. BUT LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE ORANGE CHICKEN....it is literally the best I have ever had. We were not going to order it but two tables around us ordered it and it looked so good that we caved! I regret nothing, we stopped eating almost everything else on the table to enjoy these crispy chunks of tangy chicken. I am taking away a star because I honestly was not such a fan of the pork dumplings and enjoyed the bun much more. I also thought that the noodles with brown sauce and pork was lacking meat. Would love to give this a 3.5! I've been wanting to try this for awhile and after my brother's recommendation my boyfriend and I decided to try it. The menu was not the easiest to navigate or read. It felt kind of cluttered and minimal in options. I've only had dim sum once before and recognized some of the dishes from my past experience but they also had a lot of the Chinese dishes that you can find at your neighborhood Chinese restaurant. My boyfriend really wanted dumplings so we ordered the pork soup dumplings which were very good. I wanted the crab and cheese Rangoon- this was terrible. It was mostly dough and maybe had a 1 tsp amount of cheese filling that tasted fishy. No crab detected. Just pass on this, it was bad. We also ordered pork fried rice and sesame chicken - more basic staples. There was just two of us and the food was fairly filling but I would like to try more dumplings later ! The staff was nice but seemed very hurried. The inside was pretty and very crowded. They didn't have a drink menu so we just got water- not sure what else they had available. They also have one of those little robots and it literally pushed the entire table that was connected to ours. Obviously not very great. I think overall this has potential to be very great but maybe could use some fine tuning. They also do charge a 3% fee for credit cards - as they note upon entering. I was craving dim sum and so we ended up here. It's not quite the same dim sum experience as in Philly, but I don't mind. It is a nice break being able to order from a menu and enjoy a quieter atmosphere. Dim Sum Factory has nicely decorated interior. The service was good, including the robot delivery. The dim sum dishes were delicious. We ordered a variety of classic ones. The soup dumplings didn't disappoint. The beef brisket noodle soup, however could be a lot better. The broth isn't as flavorful. It was somewhat bland and overly sweet. The sweetness did not come from hours of cooking beef bones. Overall, we had a good experience. The place is not too crowded when I visited but the plaza where the restaurant is located has limited parking and pretty busy place due to the number of other shops in the plaza. The service staff was really helpful and courteous. It's a family-friendly restaurant too as I saw several families with young kids dining in there. But I ordered three of my G2's here twice and both times the scallion pancakes had no scallions, they were overdone and pretty tasteless. Been dying to eat this place's food since I'm a dumpling and noodle nut case, but the food is not much better than mediocre. It took me four years to get here and afterwards I don't really care if I come back again. I ordered a metric boat load of food; spicy pork soup dumpling, beef pancake, Shanghai fried dumplings, spicy pan fried dumplings, pork soup dumplings, Shanghai triple bun, lo mai gai, chongqing chicken, Szechuan spicy beef, cumin beef, and yang chow fried rice. The Szechuan food is hard to come by but it's only Szechuan red pepper, predominantly no other flavor. As much as I love it, the taste becomes overwhelmingly bitter and metallic. Best food items were beef pancake, spicy pork soup dumpling, cumin beef, and Szechuan spicy beef. The rest I could have done without as you can find similarly tasting options from Say Wee! Service was mediocre too as we spent about $200 on what I listed plus more, and asked for the items to be labeled, but they weren't. Ambiance seemed great but we ordered take out. My first time back since the start of Covid pandemic, we missed the great quality food at dim sum factory. for the most part our return trip was just as good with one exception which I'll get to. Hands-down they are taking Covid precautions very Seriously, which I applaud. Everybody gloved, everyone masked, temperature machine on a tripod at door when you first walk in, tables are definitely separated and paper menus. One of the things that has not changed unfortunately is a language barrier with the servers, we try to get past it. Sometimes better, sometimes not so good... tonight was the latter. We started off with the must have steamed pork soup dumplings, hands-down always great, nice way to start, especially on a cold wet night. For our next course we had the Shanghai shumai, lovely presentation, worth a try But not our favorite Shumai. For our main meal, my wife and I shared the sautéed Shanghai bok choy which is always consistently good, and the dish that did not meet up to standards or expectations was the chicken with sesame. We had inquired about white meat chicken versus dark meat the server didn't understand initially and I had asked how fried the food is or how thick the coating may be and I don't think the server really understood because in the end the dish was way more fried and it was actually tough, hardly any chicken meat. Once upon a time there was this lil soup dumpling jawn that started in an albeit shady spot near the greyhound station in Philly. The original Dim Sum Garden was nothing to look at, the sidewalk outside was frequently littered with the remnants of transients and the extended arms of vagrants. Certainly not the most curb appeal yet when you opened those doors the smell of dumplings, a hot wok and the cacophony of sounds from the busy kitchen, welcomed you in like an old friend. Back in those days the soup dumpling and many other staple dimsum fare had not gone mainstream. It was our secret lil spot with the best damn xao long bao this side of the Formosa. All of you Philly foodies know how the story goes but for those that don't... Well here's the facts and some folklore. Dimsum garden was dimsum garden before Tom's dimsum did dimsom then they moved to a bilevrl spot in Chinatown went mainstream and left the chef behind. His name was Tom and has a spot on that original space and wait for it... Has opened up a spot in Horsh called ding ding ding, Dim Sum Factory. Thank you Chef Tom. Four of us split 5 dishes, including 2 orders of soup dumplings, which are filled with a delicious broth that squirts into your mouth on the first bite. We also had cold noodles with sesame sauce, which were chewy & had a lot of sauce that was a little too bland for my taste. We also had chicken kabobs which had a marvelous smoked flavor & were large, tender & juicy, to my delight & surprise. We had an eggplant with garlic sauce, which had great flavor though a bit oily. Amidst all of this COVID-19 Quarantine mess currently that's going on, I really wanted to get something that I knew would be amazing for my birthday dinner (and also #YelpsBigNightIn). I placed my order online, payed with a card to aid in their no-contact pickup and their website told me about 15 minutes. For a place that normally does dine in and take out, 15 minutes is a pretty sweet turn around time for some dinner. Anyways, I get to the restaurant and I can see through the doors that everyone's bags are sitting atop chairs in the foyer with a note that says to "please check your name and phone number" aka, please only grab you own stuff. I can see an employee through the window, he waves with his mask and gloves on, I wave grab my food and head out the door. No contact at all and everything was very simple to understand with no mix-ups. I get home and honestly the food was just as good as it is in the restaurant. I don't know why I expected any less. They never disappoint. I got Shanghai Pan Fried Pork Dumpling (5pcs), Cumin Stir-Fried Noodle w. Beef, Steamed Pork Soup Dumpling (6pcs). Everything was just phenomenal. Living in the city, I'll hit Chinatown quite often. Dim Sum has become one of my favorite meals. While I cannot speak to Authentic vs Americanized, I do know what I like. Overall, I liked Dim Sum Factory, especially considering the lack of other Dim Sum options in the 'burbs. The Caviar Soup Dumplings were good, but they only give you four pieces. I'd recommend just going for the crab & pork or pork soup dumplings as the caviar ones weren't that unique and you get more with the standard. The Shanghai Shumai are made with sticky rice. I really enjoyed them, but they are more rice than other filling. I think they also offer shrimp shumai. The Squid with Salted Pepper was my favorite dish of the day. Decent quantity and good quality on the squid. They could have been a bit crispier, but really not complaining. Rounding things out, service was friendly, prices were in line, and pace was quick. 5 stars! After we finished eating I said to my husband, "we need to add a line item to our budget for more Dim Sum Factory!" Tonight was our first time at Dim Sum and we're sorry it took us so long. The atmosphere is relaxed but a bit upscale. There are a handful of booth that sit in front of large windows. You'll be greater and seated by a rolling robot, which excites the kids but also adults. The robot is a fun start to a great meal. We ordered: roast pork buns, crystal shrimp dumplings, Shanghai shumai, scallion pancakes, and pork and chive dumplings (fried). Everything was hit, fresh, and flavorful. The scallion pancakes were delightfully crispy. The pork buns are the softest buns ever. We both liked the Shanghai shumai beat out of the dumpling we ordered, but that doesn't mean the other options were bad - not at all. Hard to pick favorites when it was all great. I saw the rave reviews on Yelp and came here for lunch with my parents. We were very excited to try this place as there's not many good Shanginese food spots in the area. My family is from Shanghai originally and we all just got back from visiting family there 2 months ago and were really missing all the delicious food there. The restaurant is located in a pretty nice strip mall and is quite a large restaurant. It has a clean modern interior which is quite refreshing for a chinese restaurant, which sometimes tend to be hole in the wall type joints. We were seated quickly and ordered a wide variety of dishes in order to get a good feeling for the food here. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. Not sure where all the 5 star reviews came from, because the food here really isn't good. Started off with the Pork Soup Dumplings which are the quintessential Shanghainese dish and a place like this should absolutely nail. However the dumplings came out a bit cold on top and were placed very close together in the steamer basket, meaning that when you tried to pick up an individual one, they tended to stick together and rupture. Biting into one, the skins are far too thick and on the tough side. The filling inside had an odd texture consisting of extremely soft meat but also harder bits and some stringy bits. It was kinda like it was all made from leftover pork parts? It was also far far too sweet inside. There was a decent amount of soup in the soup dumpling but it was very thick, not the clear soup that you typically get with soup dumplings. Second, we got the Shanghai Pan Fried Soup Dumplings. There was zero soup inside of these dumplings. The bottom was cooked crispy but the rest of the bun was soaking wet in the interior they were falling apart. They weren't wet from the soup soaking into them as it would have changed color, the buns stayed white. Pan fried soup dumplings are supposed to be cooked from raw in the fry pan, I suspect these were steamed first and then fried. That's the only way I imagine you would get the texture of the buns so, and they were steamed far far too long. The filling inside was also on the sweet side, but at least no stringy bits like the soup dumplings. The beef ho fung came next. The thick noodles were overcooked, almost falling apart, yet there were also tough dry pieces mixed in which was not fun. Ended up having to spit out these pieces. There was a good amount of beef but these were in huge thick slices. The onion slices were still raw and very crunchy, so you also got the raw onion "bite" sensation. The dish in general was very salty yet sweet at the same time. Finally, as this restaurant has "dim sum" in the name, ordered my favorite dish Shrimp Har Gao to try that. The crystal shrimp dumplings were on the large side, were cold on top and soggy on the bottom. The skins were very thick and the shrimp inside had a slight stink to them. They either weren't that fresh or weren't cleaned properly. The service was fine, pretty quick but scatterbrained. Servers would drop off a dish and leave, without taking the empty plate of a previous dish that was on the table with them. No one stopped by to refill my water glass. There seemed like there was a large amount of staff for a not that busy lunch time. Really disappointed in this place and won't be back. read more

I rarely give 1 star to any restaurant but... if you stoop this low, i have to let people know (please read below... i will start with all the bad and then the one good) This place was open not too long ago and i had a decent amount of expectation since i love soup dumplings and Chinese food. The third time... this is when it got it's 1 star rep from me. My party was seated and we already ordered. They then came and asked us to move for a bigger party... the bigger party didn't even show up even after we were on the way out... that irked me... Ok, so the service was whatever. The food got even worse compared to my pervious 2 visits. The beef pancakes which was ok turn bad; the dough was soggy and floppy. The soup dumplings continued to be lukewarm and made from leftover junk, and Kung pow chicken was more like Kung pow breading (literally... no chicken in any bites that i took) Here is the biggest kicker. If you divert your attention to the pictures i posted, the glassware: gross. My tea cup had hardened sesame seeds stuck on the inside and the glasses were improperly washed. If the food is subpar; that's ok... I'm sure you can take criticism and make it better with practice. If the cleanliness is something that needs to be address; it just shows that you don't care.
