Sunday Dim Sum brunch on Independence Day 2026 holiday weekend. It was somewhat empty, but there were few dim sum food trolley swinging by our table. My party usually intake weekend Chinese Dim Sum. Mona Lisa Vito: "I bet the Chinese food here is terrible. How's your Chinese food?" Vinny Gambini: "You just keep askin' about Chinese food. Can't you tell they don't have Chinese restaurants around here? You gotta let everybody know you're a tourist. Come on." - "My Cousin Vinny" 1992 film The staff speaks Cantonese which is very good to hear Cantonese spoken as it is mellifluous... at long last to continue this vernacular Chinese language. Chinese Dim Sum is regionally specific to Cantonese originating from the Guangdong province, ergo Cantonese will continue to survive as vernacular language. When we arrived there was one party of five middle age and elderly men who were conversing boisterously loud in Cantonese, but they were not arguing as it appeared that is their characteristic volume for communicating among each other. It seemingly appears every person within this party of five men want their individual spotlight as the desideratum to be heard without interruption and without judgment, therefore battle with loud vocally expressing one's thoughts. Schulz I received complaints that I have been told I am too loud, but certainly this party of five men are louder. Ergo, stop with your vile complaints about me! My party of three found the quality of food average as juxtaposition for New York City Dim Sum. There are no dine-in menu to order platter entrées if the Dim Sum dishes does not eat your fill. Customer service is average. The Dim Sum trolley women appear nonchalant and less enthusiasm as they can determined to ascertain that my party and I are non-Pennsylvanians, but out-of-towners. We chosen Pu'er tea, bou2 nei2 普洱茶 as the default Dim Sum tea to help with digestion. The tea pot was metal but it was not boiling hot water rather lukewarm temperature for tea which is unorthodox for Dim Sum tradition. Business cards are available for grabs. I did obtained my sales receipt. Nevertheless, a Dim Sum Sunday brunch was a equanimity state achieved to balance work life in the company of family in fleeting times. Let's Yum Cha! My foodie synopsis: Shrimp dumpling 蝦 餃 (haa1 gaau2)- filled with small pieces of shrimp and the dumpling skin was rather thick. The dumpling skin was sticking to the paper wrapping. The dumpling skin was sticking to the top of my mouth. Pork and mushroom dumpling 燒 賣 (siu1 maai6*2) Shumai were well prepared and the mushroom were, gratefully, small and not overpower the dumpling. I am not a mushroom enthusiast. Beef rice noodle roll rice roll 牛肉腸 (ngau4 juk6 coeng4*2) texture was too chewy from the thickness. The rice noodle was average, but appear smaller covering the meat. Spare ribs with basil sauce 欖 汁 排 骨 (laam5*2 zap1 paai4 gwat1) - it was not swimming in oil and there were minimal meat, but minimal non-meat fat. Beef ball in bean curd 山竹牛肉丸 (saan1 zuk1 ngau4 juk6 jyun2) - it was not served piping hot, but average Unfortunately, Jade Harbor do not offer my favorite traditional Dim Sum dessert dishes: Mango Pudding 芒 果 布甸 (mong4 gwo2 bou3 din1) Almond pudding 杏 仁 豆 腐 (hang6 jan4 dau6 fu6) read more

Came here for Dim Sum on a Sunday and had a pleasant experience. The restaurant is small so arriving early is recommended. Though a small restaurant sounds horrible, it was great because there was no need to flag down the dim sum carts or wait for service. The carts came by quickly and multiple times while the wait staff was readily available to clear our table. The dim sum is good but not as great as other places. That's not to say that the dim sum wasn't delicious. The basics are done well and each steamer came out hot. The only gripe I had was that the rice noodle rolls had thicker noodles compared to the filling but it's not that big of a deal. The shu mai, shrimp dumplings, chive dumplings, chicken feet, etc, were just as good as anywhere else. I would consider coming back just for the dim sum! read more

Food is top notch but the restaurant itself went down. Service is good and the waiters are always attentive. When you walk in, you get hit with a humid and a bit of dirty carpet smell or smells like a house with pets. The bathroom is a bit old and dirty. Other than that, the food is tasty and fairly priced. Zero ambiance but always good food. Our group of 10 (8 Asians) ate some dim sum and also orders of the menu. I adore snow pea leaves & there's were great as always. My sister has many food allergies & the waiter managed not to pull out his hair yet he accommodated her perfectly. I have wanted to try this restaurant for awhile. I'm not sure if they're affiliated with the Jade Harbor in Chinatown but they both have honey beef on their menu. We frequent the one in Chinatown because we love the honey beef and Ho fun. This location is a lot more convenient so we gave it a try. Of course we ordered the honey beef, shrimp Ho fun ( they may call it chow fun) and we also tried the roasted duck and pizza rolls. I think the water was tap water. The honey beef flavor was good but the meat is a bit chewy and we just felt it wasn't as good as the other place. The noodles seemed dry to me my husband thought they seemed a little chewy. That was my first time having roast duck and I liked it, my husband only liked the skin he thinks it's an acquired taste. I still want to go again to try some other things but I definitely prefer the Chinatown location better, again not sure if they're affiliated but they have the same name and similar menu. Also at the end of our meal we waited a very long time for our check. Our first time back at Jade Harbor in seven years, but it may not be our last visit as we have family friends who have moved into this lower Bustleton Avenue ever expanding Asian neighborhood. It looks the same except for gradual aging of the facility. No dim sum available on a Wednesday late afternoon, so we ordered off the regular menu. The five of us ordered: 1. Hot & Sour Soup - A large bowl for serving the table, full of mushrooms, sprouts, bits of pork and heavy dose of vinegar. It was quite good, but perhaps a little too salty. 2. Salt/Pepper Pork (my interpretation) - Crisply wok fried chunks of lightly breaded on the bone pork with green garnish. Pretty good, but it would have been less work and mess to have it in the form of pork chops. 3. Grouper in Fujianese Sauce - I forgot that Fuzhou cuisine is even sweeter than Cantonese, so these fillets were coated and deep fried into a yellow golden platter, that while very tasty, had some of us concerned about sugar intake. 4. Short Ribs in Garlic Sauce - By the fact that most of this beef dish was consumed before we left, it was the most popular choice on our table lazy susan. Bone in, it was a bit of a challenge to work the morsels of meat off the bone, but the savory garlic sauce and tenderness of the star attraction made it worthwhile. 5. General's Chicken - There may never have been a General Tso in Chinese history, but his namesake dish was well interpreted by this kitchen. Large chunks, lightly breaded and wokked with a nice semi fruity/pepper dark amber sauce, with heavy broccoli garnish, it was an easy tasty choice, without bones or other impediments to enjoyment. 6. Eggplant in Garlic Sauce - Always a favorite veggie dish, this one came with a mix of other veggies. It was soft and pungent and delicious. It was exactly what was expected. Sliced oranges with the bill is always a nice touch. We enjoyed our family feast. The food definitely contributed significantly to our enjoyment. read more

Thank you, Pho Saigon, for being closed because if you weren't, I would never have discovered this culinary delight! Cantonese-style dim sum speaks to me on so many levels, especially when the stuffed tofu skins look and taste so good. I found myself sipping up all the soup from these tender morsels, which I have never done with the same dim sum dish at any other restaurant! My family and I used to frequent this spot whenever we were in Northeast Philly. They had $5 rice platters for lunch special. It included a free soup with the lunch special. It was honestly unbeatable price for the service. However, we visited a couple of days ago. The rice platters were $8 each. They no longer offer free soup. The rice portions was bigger and the meat portions were smaller. My go-to is usually beef and brocolli but they also changed up the cut of meat so the meat texture also went down a bit. The fact that Jade Harbor is open normal business hours on holidays is definitely a plus. I have went to a couple of other businesses "cough"(Wang's House, Kung Fu tea, Wing Stop, etc...) they are close. I don't blame ya closing but I would like to be inform through online. Didn't feel like to dine in so me and hubby opted for take out. The guy at the counter is super quick and nice. If he was our server when we dine in, I won't mind to tip him 25%. Practically been going here since I was born. Family goes here for special occasions and Sundays. They have street parking and take out as well. We've always dined in. The boss knows the deal, everything is casual here if you've been coming for many years. Typical dim sum food and their shrimp balls are great. The place was empty yet I had to go find the waitress to seat us. Once seated, it took a long time for them to come back and take our order. I ordered shrimp and garlic sauce. She brought out shrimp and curry. When I told her, she looked annoyed. When she finally brought the order out, I took a bite of the plastic like shrimp and knew it was the same shrimp from the curry dish. They recycled and recooked the shrimp. Formerly Spice Mandarin, Jade Harbor is still the dimsum restaurant I know and love. I love that it's located closer to me and I dont have to drive into the city, find/pay for parking, and that its always easy to get seated, even though it is crowded 24/7. The management is still the same, I recognized the owner from other visits when it was still Spice Mandarin. They have all the basic dim sum, and I think their food is quality. It certainly rivals it's sister restaurant in CC and for me is just so much easier to get to. As a girl who grew up on dimsum, the close proximity just made me a regular. So we came here for family dim sum. This is suppose to be the new extension of Chinatown. It is a very authentic place almost all clientele is Asian. They do weekend dimsum and service is fast. Prices are cheaper than in Chinatown. However food wise it is close but definitely not as good as dimsum in Chinatown. For example the crunchy dough in flat noodles were limp and lost their crunch. The standard dumplings such as shumai and hagow is passable but nothing special. Servers don't speak much English and there is a lot of yelling. Serious old school Cantonese joint with decor,menu,noise level and service to match.....nothing fancy here folks just good familiar dishes that reminds me of some of the hole in the wall midnight joints in HK. Jade Harbor excels in seafood with a duel "Lo Fan" friendly menu featuring the ever popular wok fried twin lobsters,salt and peppers shrimp,and whole snapper with black bean,ginger ad scallions but I had to have the sea snails in spicy sauce...a ton of work sucking the tiny but tasty morsels out. The gloriously sticky.sweet and sour,cornstarch shiny pork chops Peaking style double fried to retain it's crispy texture was next.....lava hot from the wok with some cooling steamed rice took me back to my childhood. Seafood casserole with fried tofu in a ginger sauce was sublime if perhaps a bit bland but a perfect foil for the pork chops. Next was the 3 mushroom over silken tofu in a Hoisen and 5 spice sauce that was very deep and savory. By now we were stuffed as the portions are family sized and the noise level increasing as more families sit down and begin to order. Jade Harbor is really a family restaurant where its common to see 3 generations dining at the same table while talking,eating and socializing all at once but great because at least in the Chinese community families still dine together. Went here on a Sunday and it was jam packed. They squeezed tables and chairs in every inch of this restaurant. I waited all of 2 minutes for a table which was unbelievable! But of course, too good to be true. We were seated in the downstairs dining area, and the 3 of us shared a table with a family of 4. The space downstairs is tight, so definitely won't get a dim sum cart in that room. And don't expect a menu. Waitresses just carry plates down and place the dish on the table - you then need to refuse it if you don't want it. Not a big deal, but I think you need to be a dim sum veteran to utilize this system. We, along with the others around us, had to request dishes which I guess aren't in the "carry down the stairs" rotation. Service was kind of slow for water or drinks, but the food itself was good. Dare I say, very good; very comparable to Chinatown. I probably wouldn't return on a Sunday, and with the name and location, I don't think it'll get any less crowded any time soon. This is my family's new go-to spot for Cantonese food. The food is authentic and the place is always packed whenever we go for dinner. We used to go to the Jade Harbor in Chinatown, owned by the same people, but anyone can tell you what a nightmare parking in Chinatown can be. This place has plenty of street parking in the area.
