In the reservation rooms, they have karaoke system, but the karaoke system is very old and you have to search for the song based on the singer name. The microphone does not working well. Their dim sum here is pretty decent, but I wasn't too fond of their catering. A lot of their dishes were very bland or not the typical Chinese style. For their fish maw soup, they put tofu and tons of greens (I think seaweed in it). It felt more like a miso soup but had seafood in it and was thick like fish maw. Walnut shrimp- they fried the shrimp and squeezed the mayo sauce in top. Some pieces had the sauce and some had none. They need to actually mix it up. The shrimp was fried perfectly though. Had a nice crisp to it Whole fish - pretty bland. Fish was moist though Birds nest - it was made with different types of noodles but it was actually pretty good. I enjoyed it. On a Saturday after noon my aunt and I was meeting some family members, we are about a party of 15 people. Our party was meeting there for lunch and we got there super early so we decided to get some dim sum because we were hungry and we were up since 7 am with no food in our system. The dim sum that we end up order was vegetable dumplings, shrimp rolls and chicken feet which all three dish was kinda bland. About 20 minutes later, all of our family members arrived and we were then seated into 2 big tables. The dishes we had was pre-ordered, everything I had was decent nothing really stood out. But overall I was satisfied. But after 30 mins later I started to get thirsty, like crazy thirsty that's when I know I just had MSG overdose. Service was on point, the dim sum ladies was super friendly and helpful. They would stop what they're doing and try to help us with anything we needed such as extra napkins, refill our water even tho their job was just to serve and push the dim sum carts. There was a younger guy who was really friendly and helpful and he spoke perfect English as well. But then there was this older man that became our server and he was not friendly at all, he looked annoyed at our request of more napkins and sauces. At one point I just decided to just help myself and he told me to sit down and let him do his job, in a rude way. I just thought if it took him more than 5 minutes to get me a extra plate since we were missing a extra plate and chopstick, I could just turn around and grab the table's plates and silverware that was behind me since there wasn't anyone seated in that table, but yet he had a problem with that and pretty much decided to yell at me. First time here so I decided to call in advance to see if they served dim sum on a Monday because a lot of places will serve it on weekends only. The man who picked up the phone replied angrily with "why do you ask if we serve dim sum today, we serve it every day!" I laughed because I was so shocked at his reply lol. Service was quick as before - carts came out with the quickness. One thing different from my prior visit is that the staff seem to be more aggressive with the food offerings. I'd look into the cart and order the things I like. Immediately after, they would try to push a different dish on me. When i politely decline, they would then offer another dish. Perhaps they've been directed to upsell? In any case, I would decline and they didn't seem mad or upset over it. So not a big deal. We had a company group dinner here courtesy of our boss last night. As it was a Monday night, there weren't many people in the spacious main dining room, but the Karaoke rooms in the back were filled with parties having fun and singing obnoxiously to Mandarin and Cantonese songs. The boss reserved one of the Karaoke rooms and though it was small, it was ample amount of space to seat 12 people around a large lazy Susan table. Towards the other side of the room was the karaoke system and TV. We ended up getting the $168 Lunar New Year fixed menu special, which included over eight or ten dishes (I forgot how many) and a choice of dessert or fruit. There were three or four other fixed menus priced accordingly to specific items (i.e. seafood fixed menu special was around $400ish). On top of that, we ordered an additional one or two dishes. I should have taken a picture of the menu and the food, so I can remember the names of the dishes, but I'll try my best to describe which were decent to me. - Jellyfish and Cold Cut Platter (if you've been to Asian weddings, you've had this before) - some sort of seafood and tofu soup - Walnut Shrimp (pretty standard, but good) - Shrimp Fried Rice (it might have had scallop, but don't remember) - Braised Pork with Peanuts - Pepper Beef Short Ribs (pretty good) - Ginger Scallion Lobsters - Tapioca and Taro Sweet Soup (mmmm) Overall, it was a good dinner with quick and friendly service. I would give this place three stars for my first dinner experience, but the Tapioca and Taro Sweet Soup completely sealed the deal for me. Not too sweet and a great way to finish off the food. It IS the reason for the extra star. I wanted so badly to get some to-go, but I was too full. Definitely recommend this place for dinner, large parties, and especially for the large parking lot! Chinese immigrants started to reshape this neighborhood a decade ago with Chinatown crowded and N.Y. expensive. So it was only matter of time a dim sum restaurant open up in Northeast Philadelphia. So it's also not too surprising to see every Sunday's morning scores of families flock here to wait in line to eat dim sum at Harbor Seafood Garden's. The popularity here is partly due to the fact that Harbor has a spacious parking area for free whereas it's almost an impossibility to park in Chinatown for less than $10 on a weekend. But the main reason is probably because the dim sum here is actually pretty darn tasty! Several highlights: Har gow (shrimp dumpling)- one of the most difficult dumplings to make properly. I actually enjoyed mine quite a lot. Siu mai- open-topped steamed pork dumplings made with a wheat flour wrapper. Pretty darn good. Cha siu bao- Classic steamed buns with bbq pork. The ones here had a soft dough on the outside and savory, sweet fillings inside. Cheong fan- One of my favorites. It's rolled steamed noodles filled with either shrimp or beef soaked in a delicious, sweetened soy sauce. I finally found a good dim sum place somewhere not called Chinatown! How many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop? -scratch that- How many minutes does it take to get food in the center of the table? Ready, set, GO! If this was a competition, my family would have definitely lost. We basically competed with all the tables to flag down a server for service. This restaurant lacks structure. Instead of splitting up sections for the servers, they all share the responsibility to service every occupied table, which clearly doesn't work. It took 15 minutes for someone to take our order and over ONE HOUR to receive our first dish. This was family style, if anything, the soup should have arrived within the first 10 minutes after ordering. It was by far the worst experience my family and I have ever received. Clams were either dead or not cooked all the way (a few were closed), our duck dish was only enough to feed 3 people when we have 6 in our family, and our vegetable dish never came. Finally tried the dim sum and it's pretty good! The har gow and shumai are solid, and I LOVED the curry squid. Plus, the steamed leek dumplings have a very light but flavorful filling, and the steamed shrimp and leek crystal dumpling are delish. The mini egg custards are also solid, although the pastry shell is a bit on the thick side; the custard itself is very creamy and thick, which I really liked. Service is very fast and attentive. We ordered the full course meal for 10 and were enjoying ourselves when we saw a tiny roach. Because the food was good we weren't going to completely freak out over one tiny roach. However, soon there was another and another and then a whole bunch all over our table. That was completely unacceptable. We talked to the manager, and she didn't charge us for the meal. I heard a lot of scuttlebutt about how terrible the dim sum was. Complaints about cold food & slow service were plenty. So when I was invited for dim sum at Harbor Seafood Garden for a 4th of July family function, I kept my expectations low. What I discovered was the kitchen and staff must of worked out all of their kinks. The place was packed and we had 3 tables in a private back room. We had multiple servers constantly bringing us fresh hot tea and a excellent selection of dim sum non-stop. Not only did this place have variety, it most importantly tasted good. Tip: You know it's an Asian sin if you're not getting timely hot tea refills. For those new to dim sum, if you want a refill, flip the tea pot lid open or slightly ajar. Not bad for dim sum that's not in Chinatown. It's definitely a closer drive for me in the suburbs than to Philly. Compared to my usual Ocean Harbor dim sum, the food is about the same but there is definitely a smaller selection. The coconut jello at Ocean Harbor is wayyyyyy better. The texture and consistency is much softer and creamier. My sister also agreed that the chicken feet are much better in Chinatown. But to make up for the difference, there is a parking lot! Many a time do we circle the streets of Chinatown to look for a parking spot. Here, there is actually a huge parking lot! The servers were also pretty helpful and the interior was large. But there's a really random tree in the building, like animal kingdom decor. It's very strange. Overall, I'd still prefer Chinatown over the north east because I'd rather drive on 95 than on the boulevard. read more

The dimsum place is kind of hidden, but there are signs that point you to where to go when you pull into the shopping center. From Adams, make a right into the center, go straight then make another right. You will find it hidden in the corner. This is a great place to go when you don't want to look for parking in ChinaTown, but I feel the dimsum isn't the best I've ever had. Some dishes were great though (har gow and shumai). Certain items I would normally find at the Chinatown locations, I just couldn't find here. Maybe because I was sitting on the inside and the cart really didn't come to me, but to the rest of my party instead. Bummer! But, I do have to admit that the price was awesome! For going with a large party, I thought for sure the price would have been crazy, but it wasn't. I think when the wife and I go to chinatown locations, we spend more with just us to than we did with the party here. Service was good. They were fast in bringing the carts around. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and staff here. Everyone was so friendly and checked in on our group frequently. They had some dishes here that wasn't typical in my area at home, although I'm sure it can be requested (minced pork with clams). It's located in a large parking lot and stayed busy throughout our 4+ hours here. The back has a couple of rooms that can be rented out for larger parties to dine and sing karaoke. The food came out quickly after ordering and nothing was lacking. We were quite impressed with the Chinese food and how personable the staff were. The place is really nice and clean inside. They have a few private rooms in the back for karaoke and have a lot of nice open space in the front. They have tables that can accommodate 10 people and less. The owners are very nice and the service is speedy. The staff is very nice and come to check on you here and there. The food is delicious. The salt and pepper pork had a great flavor. The beef pan fried noodle was very delicious too. We also ordered Salt and pepper shrimp, scallop, and squid, which was good but didn't have too much flavor. My personal preference is that the shrimp not have the shell on them so maybe I will ask that next time. Their dim sum is fresh and they have plenty of variety from dumplings, to spare ribs, to flat noodles, etc. It was delicious and was so much nicer to be able to go here instead of going to chinatown where there is no parking. My only issue is the fried dim sum dishes were greasy. I'm not sure if they fried it at a high enough temperature but overall it was definitely worth it. read more

I have never seen such terrible service. I ordered some items that they didnt have in thr carts for dimsum. I waited 25 mins and had nothing. And they ended giving my orded to someone else. When I told the waitress, she had the nerves to say it wasnt her fault. She is the one that took my order and gave it to someone else. I been traveling 30-45 minutes to Philly Chinatown for dim sum over 15 years, and finally a few Chinese restaurants opened in the northeast area. The shrimp dumplings and siu mai from this place is literately on point. I also enjoyed their rice rolls very much. Besides the tasty dimsum, there's free access to a fairly large parking lot right outside the restaurant. There's no doubt that I'll be returning more often. read more

They have great dimsum here. Not as many options as Chinatown but I rather come here than Chinatown. Been here for dinner before & my boyfriend and I agreed that we like it. Their salted fish fried rice is better than any place in Chinatown. It's either really salty or bland at other places. And the Walnut/Mayo shrimp (which I know is a popular dish) is pretty good and much bigger too. Very spacious.
