I found my way there because I'm a fan of the Cornerstone Restaurant Group. Everyone there seemed genuinely happy so it felt good right from the get go. Stopped by Dimmi Dimmi last night to check out the hype, and this place gets a 5 star rating from me!!! We stopped in around 6:30 on a Thursday and had to wait approximately 20 min for a seat at the bar as we couldn't get a reservation. The women at the door were so kind and helpful, and it made the walk-in process way less stressful. The bar staff was super friendly, and they offer full menu service there. We ordered the crispy rice as an appetizer then got some dishes to share. The farfalle pasta and the vodka stuffed shells blew me away! I was dreaming about them the next morning. Solid 4.5 rating! Went on a Thursday night with a reservation. Service was pretty good, but the waitress could have checked up on us a tiny bit more. Still very solid and everyone there is super friendly! Ambiance is pretty cool as it's also a well-decorated establishment. Overall I was very happy with the food and I can't wait to go back. The Italian tuna crispy rice is unlike anything I have eaten before. It is very similar to the flavor profile of arancini- the rice compliments the Italian seasonings to give it a profound taste without being too overwhelming. The tuna is topped with an olive tapenade, adding great contrast with its acidity! I would come here again just to eat this dish. The chicken parm is also excellent here. It is very flat and has a nice crisp. Very nice change of pace that it comes with vodka pasta on the side instead of marinara! I would pass on the tiramisu next time. The appetizers and creative and somewhat non traditional, the tuna crudo was exceptional, but the pastas, though delicious, are on the simpler/heavy side and leave you feeling full and somewhat satisfied but wondering was it worth the hype? The cracker crust pizza is an absolute must! It blew me away. I was stuck between four and five stars but I think the pizzas themselves are a 5-star experience. Finally managed to try the hot table in town! Now that the patio is open, which is first come first served, it's much easier to dine here. Relieving I know! The inside is very small so the patio truly doubles the seating capacity. Our server Lily was wonderful, and added to the relaxed and welcoming vibe. We started with spritzes, because how could we not. Truly can't think of anything better than a patio spritz on a warm summer day. Now for the food. Oh man, I was seeing stars. It can be hard to get a reservation here. It took me about 1.5 months to get something and it was for Sunday lunch. The inside is small but very cute. The lunch menu is smaller than the dinner. We decided to pick out a few things to share. Our server was helpful and explained the menu well. We started with the Caesar Salad and Crispy Lemon Chicken (which we were told the chicken is only on the lunch menu). Both fabulous! The Caesar is lemon and anchovy forward with garlic bread croutons. The Crispy Chicken is also lemon forward- it has a lemon slice you can squeeze on top, which is recommended. The caesar salad is a really well made salad that is fresh and a good balance. The gnudi pomodoro is SO good. The sheep's milk ricotta is so rich and it makes me want to go back for so many bites. I want to start by saying that the restaurant and waiter were so kind and patient, as we waited for our whole party to show up. While the bartender was slow, the drinks (especially all the spritz's) were amazing and worth the wait. All the entrees were so perfect for sharing, however, I would recommend getting two pizzas. The thin crust makes you wanting and needing more! I think my favorite dishes were the stuffed shells and the dimmi salad. It was the perfect combo! My friends and I really wanted to try this place but we couldn't get a reservation so we went right when they opened at 4pm on a Thursday and we were seated right away! The host and server both let us know that we had to finish by 5:30pm which was more than enough time for dinner! The restaurant itself felt very charming, especially with the dimmed lights. We also got the mozzarella sticks which could've used a little more salt but nonetheless, it was still delicious. I was most excited for the vodka pizza which was very good, the tavern style crust was perfectly crispy and I really enjoyed the spicy pork sausage that was on every slice, it made it that much more flavorful. I was super excited to try out Dimmi Dimmi after a friend was able to snag a reservation on my birthday. The interior of the restaurant was very warm and cozy. A little bit cramped but nothing uncomfortable. We started out with the Focaccia with ricotta and honey and it was very good. This spot is quite the challenge to grab a reservation for, so we ventured here for an early dinner on a Sunday afternoon. If you are a savory cocktail connoisseur, you must order the Calabrian Dirty Martini. It has a small spice to it, but it is a focal point of their drink menu. In addition to drinks, we started with the Charred Squash Salad (which is seasonal for winter) and the Baked Clams Casino. Both dishes I could not recommend enough. The squash is served carpaccio style with a small bed of greens on top. The clams were buttery and breaded and so good. For mains, we had the Vodka Pizza and the Orecchiette Tarantino pasta. The pizza was absolutely incredible and what I look for in a vodka sauce. The pasta was a much larger orecchiette noodle than I've experienced before, which was unique and filling. After waiting weeks for my reservation, I was so excited to give Dimmi Dimmi a try. And it was SO worth the wait! I'd highly recommend going with a group, ordering a bunch of plates and sharing. My date and I got the caeser salad, mozz sticks, and whipped ricotta & honey focaccia to start, followed by the spicy stuffed shells and chicken parm. Finished with the tiramisu for dessert- we left stuffed and with leftovers! My favorite dish on the table was the focaccia, the sesame seeds on top added a nice flavor matched with the ricotta. The spicy stuffed shells were also great, but that portion size was a little on the smaller side (only 5 shells). Partner loved how lemony and fresh the caesar salad was, and thought the pesto pasta and chicken parm was the show stopper. **4.5 Stars** We had a lovely experience at Dimmi Dimmi, an extremely difficult reservation to get, for my wife's 40th birthday. The hostess, our server, and another staff member made mention of the occasion, and definitely made us feel special. It's a tight, loud space - depending on where you are, you might be competing with folks having cocktails and waiting for a bar seat or their reservation. But, in short, while the prices are a bit confusing in some areas, this is excellent Italian fare. The cocktails are top notch, my rye Manhattan and my wife's Negroni were every bit as good as the many cocktails we've enjoyed at Armitage Alehouse down the street, at about the same price point. The focaccia was really good, seemingly done in a skillet, but with a crispy exterior coated in sea salt and olive oil, and a chewy interior. If Ciccio Mio is the best I've had in this city, Dimmi's is just below that. We were surprised, however, that the spreads you can get with the focaccia are almost as expensive as the bread itself, $7 for whipped ricotta and honey. The charred brussels and squash was excellent, kind of like a sqash carpaccio with incredible flavor and texture. A unique, top notch appetizer we'd absolutely have again. My wife's clam special was great, overflowing with clams in a sauce that was balanced, a touch spicy, and not too oily. Really, really good. As for the chicken parm. Someone I usually agree with on here had a negative review as it's "just a piece of pounded chicken," but I disagree. Is $33 a lot for a chicken parm? Yea, it is. But compare this to Alla Vita ($33 and NO pasta) or even a Frasca ($26), and it blows them away. Perfectly crispy and juicy, with a really nice tomato sauce. I honestly think the chicken itself is the best chicken parm I've had in Chicago, not pounded too thin, with a ton of texture and flavor. I might like more mozz, but whaddyagonnado. The pesto pasta that comes with it, however, was a slight miss. The pasta is cooked perfectly al dente, yes, but the pesto itself is far too pasty and lacking any lemony acid. And it needs it. Badly. You can tell the basil is fresh, but man, after a few bites, and especially as it cools, the pesto pasta becomes a chore to eat. That was a definite shame. We concluded with the chocolate cake (and a complimentary olive oil ice cream, delicious, from Black Dog). The cake was flavorful, but quite dry. It reminded us both of chocolate cake in a NJ diner that had been there more than day or two, which would be a compliment if it wasn't $16! For $16, I'm walking two blocks east and having the sticky date cake at Armitage. And, our complimentary gelato? $9. For a scoop of ice cream! Dimmi Dimmi is doing some really great stuff. That chicken parm has probably ruined chicken parms for me (Frasca is our restaurant of convenience, but for $7 less, it tastes like a frozen dish compared to this. And Alla Vita is good, but comes w no side). The squash was delightful, and the cocktails are as good as we've had at a restaurant. But, the price points don't entirely make sense, particularly dessert and some of the extras. And the dessert falls way, way short of the price point. If you're charging Hogsalt prices, and you're two blocks from the best desserts in the city, you better deliver. All this said, we will absolutely be back, assuming we can snag a reservation that is. read more

We came on a Sunday at 4:30pm and there was already a wait. Cozy vibe, old-school music, and Christmas décor made it super fun. Drinks: Calabrian Dirty Martini was spicy and great; the Hazelnut Espresso Martini was balanced and not too sweet. Drinks were good but small. Food: The Dimmi Dimmi Salad was incredible--perfectly dressed with olives, peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, garbanzos, mozzarella, and amazing roasted mushrooms. Tavern-style pizza was crisp with a flavorful sauce and Tempesta pepperoni--would return just for this. The Chicken Parm with spicy vodka rigatoni was outstanding (very Carbone-vibes, which makes sense--the chef worked there). The Amatriciana was tasty but a smaller portion with lots of pancetta. Finally snagged a reservation at Dimmi Dimmi to see what all the hype was about and yasss it absolutely delivered. The ambiance was cute and cozy. Our server, Olivia was amazing and fun - she helped us make the hard ordering decisions and her suggestions held up nicely. We started with the honey ricotta focaccia, then ordered the tavern pizza and mushroom pasta. Everything was fresh and delicious. The pizza was perfectly thin and crispy, and the vodka sauce was bomb. The mushroom pasta was stoodout. It was comforting, flavorful, and tasted like it was made by a nonna. I still can't get over how this fish comes together and the pasta texture was perfect. The chocolate cake was also a huge hit - it wasrich, decadent, and the perfect ending. For me, this absolutely lived up to the hype. I had walked past a few months ago on a weeknight and it wasn't busy but now it's difficult to get a reservation and I get why. The handmade pasta is incredible-- I loved the mushroom pasta it was so full of flavor. Their tavern-style pizza is a must have (with the vodka sauce) and the focaccia is soft, melt-in-your-mouth. The service was incredibly homey, slow and familial. The restaurant itself gives neighborhood, family living room vibes and is so cozy. The food was absolutely incredible, each bite was an adventure. I hate how hard the reservation is to get, but the walk‑in patio looks big enough to handle a crowd if you arrive around 11. We had a reservation and sat inside--very cute décor. The mozzarella sticks, pizza, and rigatoni were definitely overpriced but honestly delicious. Portions run small, so sharing a few dishes worked well for tasting everything. read more
