Owner Dave was so nice and made every accommodation for us being late the first night and we missed, but we rebooked for another night and it was awesome. On Thursday it's live music and the singer was amazing! We got sat toward the back so we could hear and still have conversations. The food was excellent! We had the Mussels, linguini clam (tons of clam in it), the risotto special, and veal lemone. Not a single miss, it was so good. Our server was so nice, attentive, and personable. Cute Italian spot - old school and a lot of authentic Italian comfort foods on the menu. It was really busy inside and we have been wanting to try it for some time now. A ton of street parking outside. We got a salad and it was nice that they split it before serving. The bruschetta was okay -nothing too special. I got the eggplant Parmesan- it was decent but nothing super exciting and my friend got a pasta which seemed about average. Came here for Wed dinner with my daughter and we both loved it. The decor is really "old chicago" and you could imagine back in the Al Capone days having a similar elegant, dark, bad ass decor. There were portraits of old singers like Dean Martin, and bad asses like Al Capone and Godfather. Our waiters were super friendly, explained the menu very well and attentive refilling our drinks and bread. Speaking of bread...they serve it with sweet green peppers in olive oil with a slight spice. We got the breaded mozzarella for appetizers and it was delicious with a light red sauce and bigger flakes of cheese. I got the rigatoni with chicken and the sauce was so tasty! My daughter got the chicken melanese and that tasted light and refreshing. We finished with the chocolate cake for dessert and it was a huge portion! In fact all the dishes were a good portion so we came out with leftovers. The prices are a tad more expensive but not bad. Overall a great experience and what's better is this place is 5 mins from my daughter's condo so we'll definitely return! read more

With Monteverde across the street, it could be easy to pass by this spot. Don't! A more traditional Italian spot comparatively, it's more cozy and lower lit. Our larger party was greeted warmly and immediately welcomed by our server. She answered our many questions and provided recommendations. For appetizers, we had the mozzarella smothered in fresh chopped tomatoes, almost bruschetta style. Yum! Calamari and the Ceasar salad were also tasty. The popular dish is Sunday Pork Gravy with pasta. Fall apart soft pork shreds in a tomato sauce. Big portions and enjoyed by friends. I had the lobster ravioli in tomato cream sauce and added broccolini. Usually ravioli portions aren't enough but I couldn't finish these. Good amount of lobster in every ravioli, delicious sauce and the broccolini still had a nice bite to it. Not soggy. We were stuffed but got the strawberry cake to go. We chose wisely! read more

The service was absolutely fantastic--they handled our large group flawlessly! ​We kicked things off with a round of shared appetizers: calamari, a meatball salad, and sausage & peppers. Everything was really good. For my entree, I went with the linguine with white sauce (a must-have for me!). Just a heads-up: the portions are massive! I guess that's the Chicago way. ​We finished with an incredible dessert spread, including cannoli, tiramisu, and cakes (pistachio, chocolate, and strawberry). Wow this place is a must! I went with a group of 7 people to celebrate 3 birthdays. We made a reservation ahead of time. We were sat immediately upon arrival and greeted by an amazing staff. They were very attentive, paced the meal appropriately and did not rush through dinner. We were given bread with oil and some delicious peppers to start the meal. Then we ordered a caprese salad to supplement the bread and calamari for appetizers. The caprese was just right and while I did not have the calamari, everyone in my group said it was about the best calamari they've ever had. It was cooked perfectly and just the right tenderness. For dinner I had the homemade cavatelli and added sausage. It was packed with a ton of flavor. Everyone in the group enjoyed their meal, from the snapper to risotto, to the other pasta choices. During dinner, the owner came to say hello and my dad of course made friends and even took a picture haha. It was such a warm welcome from everyone. To celebrate the birthdays, they even brought a full sampler of all the desserts. My favorite of course being the tiramisu, the cakes were perfectly rich, and the others just as good. It was definitely an upscale restaurant vibe with plenty of seating but you'd need a reservation for sure. There are immaculate details from the lighting to decorations. The food was okay. It wasn't anything incredible. The vodka sauce needed more taste and tiramisu was basic. To be honest I've had better store bought tiramisu. I tried this spot again because I was in the mood for some good pasta in the west loop area. The restaurant is pretty! It has a sleek vibe yet gives off old school Italian vibe. You feel like a boss dining in. Here's what we ordered: Vodka rigatoni pasta with chicken-my friend had this and said it was good but chicken was underwhelming. And if you add protein, it's 10 dollars to add it to your meal! That's pretty steep. Shrimp with linguini-colossal shrimp with a light, lemon like flavor. Decent, bland in flavor. At price point, I wouldn't order it again. Service- Good. Server was kind; reminded me of being in Italy and gave us some Italian charm. Overall, I tried it twice, and it was decent. We finally went to dine in and had an incredible meal but was soured by the fact they with many other restaurants add a bogus surprised surcharge to all checks. I asked immediately for them to take it off and gave a sorry excuse. They took it off and everyone should be requesting this at any restaurants in Chicago. This malpractice and these restaurants need to be shamed for these blind fees to their customers. Honestly won't come back or support this until they take these off. Customers beware. read more

As you walk in, there's a beautiful bar and cozy velvet blue booths throughout the restaurant. A complimentary basket of warm bread and a plate of roasted peppers was served. My friends and I ordered: * meatballs (10/10) - the tomato based sauce was savory and delicious. I highly recommend this as an appetizer or side. * Parmesan chicken (10/10) served with tortellini alfredo was a table favorite. Such a good balance of flavors between the parm and pasta. * linguine with clams (8/10) was garlicky and perfectly al dente pasta. The clams were well seasoned. * gnocchi (7/10) - the flavors were a bit flat, but the gnocchi was perfect. This was the least favorite dish. We had a great experience and enjoyed the food. We frequented their last location, and love the new, more modern location, which goes with the West Loop vibe. Anything you order will be delicious, trust me. But of course, my favorite thing is the rigatoni vodka. So saucy, the noodles are always perfect. For apps, we always get the crispy calamari and the sausage and peppers. Staff is so nice and welcoming, even in the newer space that is a bit more upscale. When you're at Viaggio, you'll always feel welcomed. The portion sizes are hearty and the food is good, old school Italian food. Not a lot of frills, just some good food. I've had great experiences every time I come here. I'd say more truffle flavor and salt. I usually don't complain about salt, but in this case the sauce was really plain. The Gnocchi and mushrooms themselves were cooked perfectly though. Chicken Parm 4 of 5: Chicken dish was cooked perfectly, but the sauce on the included pasta is still lacking a bit in flavor. Omg I love this place so much I came twice in a week with friends. The servers are super nice and the food is phenomenal. They give complimentary bread as well with the meal, and you could get well for more if you'd like. They keep it warm so it comes out warm and crispy! Every dish I've tried here has been so good. I loved the calamari and all of their pastas. The portion sizes are good too. Can't go wrong with any of them. We got the baked clams to start and the sausage and peppers. Both of these were great! I loved the baked clams with a little Tabasco. For my main I got the fettuccini and my bf got the vodka rigatoni. This rigatoni did not tasted like vodka sauce. Something was very off about it. It was not good. Fettuccini was average. Seemed a bit overcooked the noodles stuck together and were hard. I want to love it here but lately it has not been hitting. The birthday celebration was nice. Very hit or miss. I ordered the carbonara which was phenomenal, and my friend ordered the limone with chicken and it could not have had less flavor if they tried. The kitchen had swapped our, meaning I went home with the limone pasta instead of my own and was incredibly disappointed and did not finish the leftovers due to the lack of flavor. The service was outstanding which is what keeps my rating at a 3 instead of a 2. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and helpful and managed to check in with us throughout the meal despite being slammed. Cute location in west loop, indoor is more swanky Italian than crowded cubby hole (IYKYK) and it's really charming. Good spot for a family dinner or a date, there were children there but I was personally surprised since the menu was more like elevated Italian. I got the chicken parm with tortellini and what a fun combo that was! Chicken was tender and juicy, cheesy perfection. My friend got the salmon and it was also really good!
