She told me to get a blood test yet the front desk never got back to me with which lab and a prescription for the blood test. I just can't go back because I don't trust her anymore which is sad.

I mentioned during my appointment that going to the doctor gives me anxiety and that I would really appreciate someone taking the time to review my lab results with me after my physical. After my bloodwork and routine physical, instead of receiving a call to discuss my results, I got a phone call from the front desk telling me I owed $375. My immediate reaction was confusion because my annual physical is fully covered by my insurance. Being unexpectedly told I owed hundreds of dollars after what I believed was a covered preventive visit was incredibly stressful. What made the situation worse was the interaction with the front desk. When I expressed my surprise and frustration, the staff member laughed and said something along the lines of, "Sorry, your picture looked so innocent and now you're pissed." That felt completely unprofessional and dismissive, especially given how anxious I already was. They then offered to "discount" the charge to somewhere in the $200 range. After I questioned the bill and went back and forth with them, they ultimately removed the charge entirely. If the fee could simply be waived after I pushed back, it made the whole situation feel arbitrary and left me wondering whether patients who don't question these bills just end up paying them. It honestly felt like a money grab rather than a transparent billing process. What finally pushed me to write this review is that I still had never received a call to go over my lab work or test results, despite specifically asking for one during my appointment. When I called the office myself, I was simply told they would send me a link to access my results online. Then they added that if I wanted someone to actually explain my results in more depth, I would need to schedule *and pay for* another appointment. That was honestly the most disappointing part of the entire experience. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. I wanted a physician to spend a few minutes reviewing the bloodwork from my annual physical, especially after I had shared that medical appointments make me anxious. Instead, I was treated like discussing my own health was an additional service that required another visit. Overall, I left feeling dismissed, frustrated, and genuinely hurt. The only proactive phone call I received from this office was about collecting money--not about my health or my results. Between the confusing billing, the unprofessional interaction with the front desk, and the complete lack of follow-up regarding my care, I cannot recommend this practice.

And so I wanted to take the time to pay it forward to other Yelpers by noting that Dr Bungay has now moved his practice to NYU Langone Penn District over on 31st and 9th. I saw him there for the first time today and I have to tell you, I was IMPRESSED. The facility is brand spanking new and in amazing condition, and every staff member I met was friendly and helpful. The new office runs extremely efficiently. I arrived 10 minutes early, checked in at the electronic kiosk, and was welcomed in 2 minutes before my official 2pm appointment time by a nurse who did my intake. Dr Bungay saw me right after, and then another nurse came in to give me a quick and easy tetanus shot after about 5 minutes' wait. This facility also happens to have a phlebotomist onsite, and so I FINALLY got bloodwork done after years of never getting around to making a separate appointment at LabCorp downstairs! An extra bonus -- one of the nurses had already gotten me in "line" for the phlebotomist before I even walked out of Dr Bungay's office, so I had zero minutes of wait time once I walked down the hall to get there. Lab results began to roll into the patient portal later that same night, and I was notified by text message. All very impressive. Dr Bungay himself, of course, remains as gentle and caring of a doctor as he always has been. For anyone potentially worried about the loss of Gotham Med and the transition to the big faceless NYU Langone machine -- you don't need to be. It still feels like the kind and friendly practice that Dr Bungay's old office was, and now maybe even a little shinier!

She asked what was I experiencing. As I listed the symptoms I was feeling, SHE ROLLED HER EYES. FAM. I am not kidding. LITERALLY ROLLED HER EYES IN HER SOCKETS. Like, blatantly in front of me and tried to recover by being overly nice after I said, "excuse me?" I was done. You don't roll your eyes when your patient tells you symptoms they have related to health concerns that are new for them. What kind of nonsense, trash behavior is that? I walked out of her office with NO PLANS to ever return. I searched for a new PCP--one who actually cares about my well-being. I would honestly suggest you steer clear of Dr. Thomasch.

What I really like about her is that 1. she remembers you, even when you only see her once or twice a year. 2. she is sensitive and listens to what you have to say. 3. she cares; back in November, I required emergency surgery for sciatica, and she made the call to a specialist herself in order to accomodate me. the front office staff is not the friendliest(what is it with medical receptionists?? They always act like they are doing you a favor; shouldn't they be more sensitive when you are in pain? But I digress...) but once you get in to see her, you will feel taken care of.
