When it comes to facials, Dina does amazing work. I have learned so much about my skin from going to see her. She uses the best, creme dela creme of facial products. Talk about being pampered! Today marked the third time I visited Dina for treatment. The first being when I purchased a groupon for a $30 60min eminence facial of which I thought I had died and gone to heaven. What I love about Dina is that she thoroughly explains everything she is doing, and she listens and responds to me as a doctor would a patient. Every treatment she recommends or advises is a measure of careful analysis and theory. I am on the road to brighter and more youthful looking skin and it is all thanks to her! I went to Dina about 4 or 5 times before I decided it was not a good fit. Her prices are cheap comparatively. It was $55 for a microderm appt but I began to notice she was would try to sell me on products even when I told her no in the first place and she would say, in my opinion, inappropriate comments about religion to customers. I also did not see a substantial improvement in my skin. I have gone to other facialist before moving here to SD that use two differ types of microderm heads. They usually start with a course head and then go over with a finer head. Dina only uses one microderm head and she has a weird way of performing the high frequency acne treatment that seemed reckless and caused me a lot of discomfort. read more

Had my first facial at Dina's today. It was a groupon deal, a microdermabrasion/oxygen facial combo. I am no stranger to spa treatments and must say that Dina is a very professional and experienced esthetician. I was thoroughly pleased with my results and she took extra time to perform extractions which was impressive considering that it was a groupon deal. (And btw... she used gloves!) I made sure to compensate her for that when I tipped her. My skin looks wonderful! I was a bit concerned because of some of the reviews regarding her tendency to talk about sensitive subjects..... such as religion and politics.I was forewarned because Dina did attempt to engage me in conversation about religion but thanks to getting a heads up from fellow yelpers I didn't give her any ammunition to continue on that subject. Once we got beyond that, she was wonderful. My advice is just to be assertive and tell her that you come to relax during a facial and not talk about anything. She will honor your request. Regarding the comments about being pressured to buy products, I have been to numerous spas and resorts over the years and EVERY one I have gone to makes an attempt to sell products. Dina evaluated my skin condition and made suggestions about which products would be beneficial. That's normal routine when you are getting a treatment.It is also helpful for anyone who has any skin problems to know what products are beneficial to their skin care routine. When you go to a hair stylist they usually suggest hair products to buy. I don't understand why some people get so upset about this. It,s the American way of doing business! Dina did not pressure me to buy any of her products once I told her what I use and that I was happy with my current skin care regime. I should've known not to come back here after the first try. While Dina is clearly passionate about her career, it is safe to say there is some ulterior motives here. When first meeting Dina she was pretty nice. I got a groupon and she honored it. She then attempted to upsell me multiple times (both with product and another special kind of facial.) I said I would stick with what I got but scheduled another facial to see what it was like. she wanted me to buy product. If I bought product from every person peddling product I'd probably be 20 k in debt. Dina does not understand this. During the second facial she cleaned her room while I had a mask on. Dina does not like Muslim people. When I was speaking to her about my loved ones and family, I menationed one was Muslim. She acted very dissaprovingly and said they were trying to take over the world through marriage. My last scheduled facial, I arrived 1/2 hour early as per her request. She refused to do the facial on me b/c I would not buy her precious product. Again, if I were to buy every product from every person out there who claimed there's was the cure all I would be massively in debt or at least have a sh*t ton of product I do not use that sits in my bathroom and then gets put int he landfill and rots and pollutes the water. I do not find her professional. I do not find that she is non-judgemental. She wants to get the most money so she will not settle for just doing a facial with no products bought. I simply do not agree with this method of business. If it weren't for her intolerant remarks I would not have left this review. It's sad that in 2015 people still think and speak like this. Absolutely wonderful treatment with a woman who genuinely cares about your skin and you as an individual. The products and treatments are reasonably priced and Dina is such a committed aesthetician that she will work with you to do what's best for your skin until you see a visible improvement. She is very well educated in the field and communicates how each product will target certain types of skin so that you aren't completely lost once you get back home. It is a very calming and welcoming environment. I heard of Dina through a colleague at work and I'm so glad to have met her as my skin has made significant improvements ever since I've seen her and the difference between this time and my previous skin treatments is that my skin has actually remained relatively clear. "Give Credit where credit is Due"....Especially when it comes to our face. I moved to SD a year ago having to look for a new place to get monthly facials. What. The actual. F*CK!!!!???? Decided to treat myself to a facial for my birthday. Big mistake. I was the first client of the day. The owner introduced herself, "I'm Dina and I have a savior." Okay, weird, but the place is decorated with cherubs and to each her own, so I didn't say anything. Just gave an awkward smile in the hopes that we could get on with the facial in silence. She had for some reason blocked out an extra half hour on top of the hour I paid for, and she proceeded to spend the entire time harassing me about Jesus. Immediately I launched into the placating thing that is sometimes effective when a young woman feels threatened. Big eyes, nodding, silence, placid face - don't do anything that might give this person cause to harm you physically. Go along with everything until you're out of danger. "We are all serpents, we have the serpent, the seed of Satan inside us! We are all cheating on our husband Jesus. It truly is a marriage. Jesus is our husband, our father, our sister!" She asked me if my relationship with my roommate was physical (it's not), then went on to liken me to Eve, talking about sin, and then saying that my parents' marriages are going to end badly because it is forbidden in the bible to divorce and it is evil to remarry. Also, homosexuality is a sin, and mixing religions and races never works (I'm Asian and European). WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF Halfway through I began to have real concerns that she was going to sacrifice me on her table like a lamb. I made a concerted effort to relax, keep my mind clear, pay attention to what she was doing and not be distracted by the insane sh*t coming out of her mouth. She applied a pumpkin peel, "Tell me if the pain is too excruciating," and I was grateful for the distraction of physical burning from the warnings of eternal burning, which, to her, were obviously more than metaphorical. At this point she began to weep into the pumpkin peel and had to blow her nose (I was beyond caring much that she washed her hands for only three seconds after this - yes, I counted. I take hygiene seriously). "The earth is a new Sodom and Gomorrah and Judgement Day is coming! It really is coming! You must read the bible, you must take Jesus into your heart and know him, really know him!" Et cetera. Et cetera. Et cetera. The entire time. If this woman had approached me on the street, I would have called the police. I'm a bit concerned now that she has my phone number; I even created a "throwaway" Yelp account to post this, but my roommate wisely reasoned that our household has more firepower than even an Israeli is likely to have on hand. I had a similar experience to the other bad ratings. She ranted on and on about Jesus being the "only way". okay, okay, whatever. Then she proceeded to do my extractions with her bare fingers!!!! Anyone that knows anything about skincare would never do that. When I figured out what she was doing...I asked her to stop and told her how terrible that was! She apologized and begged my to come back for a free facial to make it right. Then I felt bad, because maybe she really didn't know? Ughhh, why did i second guess myself and giver her another chance? I went back. She did the EXACT same thing!!! I stopped her again. Again, she acted mortified. It is completely unprofessional and really BAD skincare to give extractions the ways she did. TWICE!!!! I found Dina because my mom had a gift certificate, and I'm so glad that I did! She was really amazing. I had my eyebrows, underarms, legs, and bikini area waxed yesterday to get ready for my upcoming wedding, and I look fantastic. I am very pleased with the quality of the service that she provides. Her shop isn't bare and hospital-like as some other spas can be. It's lovely and definitely reflects her personality. She's very kind and gentle. It was my first waxing, and she went out of her way to make it as painless as possible. (Of course, waxing is always painful, but her efforts definitely helped!) I will definitely be returning here. Dina has been waxing my eyebrows for 10 years. She is by far the best in SD. I have not always lived in her area and so I have tried others when I am in a pinch and I am always disappointed. I first went in to see Dina for a back massage and facial about 6 months ago & have been back numerous times since then. Each time I've been in to see her she has been very warm and welcoming. In the last few years, large dark spots have started appearing on my face, I believe from sun exposure and genes. The most prominent were one in the middle of my forehead (about 1.5 - 2" or so in diameter) and one on each side of my nose that looked like tears going down my cheeks. I did not think much could be done for them or, at least, nothing that would be effective in my price range. So, I figured I would continue to cover them up with makeup as best as I could. When Dina saw them, she mentioned she'd helped others with more severe pigmentation and, over a period of a few months, she was able to help lighten mine, as well. It is still a work in progress, but my dark spots are significantly lighter and now require less makeup coverage. I purchased a series of 6 microdermabrasion sessions, which got rid of the dead skin cells and made my skin feel soft and look more radiant. I am planning on doing another round soon. I don't know how the service compares because I have never had microdermabrasion done by anyone else, but the price seems low and Dina always made sure I was comfortable by placing a cushion under my knees and offering me a blanket when I was a bit chilly. She also plays wonderful, calming music, which is so relaxing after a stressful day at work. I was not familiar with the products Dina sells when I first started going to her, but she suggested a few that she thought might work for me & kindly offered me samples before I committed to buying full-size products. She did not want me to be stuck with a product that wasn't compatible with my sensitive skin. She has always shown concern about how the products were working out with my skin. For example, she asks questions (via text or follow-up appointment) like: How is your skin doing? Did the product help with breakouts? Did you notice a difference? Was the product drying? Was it working? Did you notice any lightening of the dark spots? Dina carefully considered if a product would work for me before recommending it. One of her first recommendations, which I use nightly, can be purchased from Target. When I found products elsewhere (foundation, BB cream, & sunscreen), she wanted to check the ingredients to make sure they would be okay for my skin and did not try whatsoever to get me to buy only the products on her shelves. Although, I do use some of those, as well, and I like them. When I went in for follow-ups after trying new products, Dina would examine my face & we would talk about the products I was using and how my skin was doing. Dina was very patient and persistent, as I tried a several products before we found a few that worked for me. I definitely recommend Dina! Her prices are very reasonable, and she is a lovely person.
