I certainly like the concept with multiple styles of dogs sourced locally from quality vendors and served in a casual environment, but there were a few things that kept my Sunday afternoon visit from being a top tier event. Not until after I ordered and was looking more closely at the menu did I see that there are 4 styles of cooking that you can choose from. Odd, never once was I asked at the counter for my preference; it appears that I received grilled...ok. This would have been one of the things that I was going to ask the owner, since he was chatting with both sets of customers while I was there, yet never bothered to inquire how I was doing. I seemed to be the odd man out for thanking customers. I hate feeling less than welcome, especially when driving across town and spending $20+. Where's the beef? My $10 Mountaineer Dog was supposed to come with chili, yet there was about 1/8 of a teaspoon of meat on this sandwich -not exaggerating - just enough to give one bun a tint of brown. Sad. I love me a good Chicago Dog and in my 4 years of living in The Windy City I devoured many of them. The first ingredient of a Chicago Dog is a coating of mustard on the bun and allow the toppings to own the show. This one was drizzled with way too much and was like eating a mustard sandwich. My tater tots were cooked perfectly and they were plentiful for the price. With the UMKC crowd and steps from the soon-to-be streetcar stop, they have a built in customer base, but I'll probably stick to the two gourmet sausage/dog joints in town that I love or just do QT and save a lot of $

Delicious and super cute restaurant. Vegan options were super good. I ordered the impossible dog with bbq mustard, spicy pickle chips, jalapeño and onions. Can't wait to come back.

Honestly one of the best hot dogs I've eaten because of all the toppings and the bun. The tots were so good and crunchy. The hostess was very nice, as I took my food to go. I wish the overall ambiance was a bit better, but it is still a fun space with the games. I'd recommend checking it out!

Our guests were so pleased. I've never loved a dog so much!! Also, having a vegetarian husband didn't go over well with most of the caterers we talked to. However, when we made the request, they were happy to come up with a custom "dog" with veggies, black beans and sriracha... it was so great. YUM! It was good and well balanced for a vegetarian. They were friendly, easy to work with and the food was DELISH! We love you Brock Hops!!! If you have planned a wedding, you know there are many details to work out so each vendor can make it easy or they can make things harder... Thanks for adding value to our weekend wedding. Definitely recommend. You will not be disappointed!

So I jumped in my car and drove to West Bottoms, a less than desireable, industrial area. There, I found a little corner store. I go in and walk up to the counter and say, "I hear I can get the best cheesesteak in KC here." The gentleman shakes his head and takes my order. Cheesesteak, add lettuce and tomato. Ten minutes later, I'm walking out with the daily special that included my sandwich, fries and a nice strong Orange Crush from the fountain. I am starving, so I rip open the bag, determined to devour it right there on the side of the street. The first sign of disappointment was the size. Maybe 6" but no more. Maybe I'm used to the footlong portions of Atlanta, but this was leaving a lot to be desired. I forgive it because maybe this is the size for the special. (Shrug) I take my first bite and get a mouthful of well-seasoned meat. But where is the cheese? I try another bite, thinking that maybe the end just was missing it. Nope, still no evidence of cheese. It takes me until midway through the sandwich before I reach the gooey cheese that makes a cheesesteak great. As I was eating my sandwich, I grab a few fries. Eh. Hand cut, which is good, but they have a slightly rancid burnt flavor. Like the grease has seen one too many days. And the lack of salt just elevated the off-flavor. I quickly abandon them and get back to the sandwich. I look down, but there is hardly anything left. Three bites and I am at the end...minus cheese. I'm left with bread ends, a few pieces of meat and a ton of lettuce and tomato. Sigh. Overall, I give the sandwich a 6/10. The meat was flavorful, but the size and the lack of cheese left me wanting more. The fries...let's not even rate them in this review or we will definitely be doing less than 3 stars. The redeemer? That crisp, delicious Orange Crush. Thank you God for soda...or as Midwesterners say, pop. (lol) Would I go back? Maybe. I would see if there is a 12" version and I would ask for EXTRA cheese and emphasize that I would love it to be spread across the whole sandwich. And I would skip the fries. Trust me, skip the fries.

Without question, this is the best pizza joint/spot in the Crossroads. Whether you are just getting…read morea slice or a full pie, you have a zillion options and all of them are good choices. But they don't just do pizza, there is an array of sandwiches, burgers, and of course their famous wings (beware of the Death Wings, like, REALLY beware). The kitchen is pretty much right in front of you and pies are getting slung constantly. That Rockin' Red sauce has that rich tomato base and it goes perfectly with that toasted crust flavor that only a pizza oven can provide. Toppings are seemingly anything (I'm a sucker for fresh mozz & meatballs) and while one slice is enough for many, two is just a sweeter spot. Beer on tap flows with local, regional, & known brands. The drink menu is pretty lengthy and beers will rotate with the seasons. If you're unsure on what you want, then your friendly server is very likely going to give you some good options. The whole place seems to be held together by stickers & customer 'art', so it gives Grinders a divey atmosphere but delivers a five-star product. Parking is Crossroads, pricing is reasonable but the value is far more than the price point(s), and there's a reason this place gets national exposure. It's that good. And if weather allows, then eat out back. Underrated KC patio.

We started at the Aquarium and Legoland inside Crown Center--both were a hit. The Aquarium was immersive and beautifully done, and the kids were completely locked in. Legoland was pure excitement--color, creativity, and nonstop energy. By the end of it all, we were hungry. We walked across the street into Crown Center and headed inside the Crown Plaza area looking for Fritz's Railroad Restaurant. The moment we stepped in, it felt like stepping back in time. The space carries an old-world nostalgia--warm, lively, and buzzing with families. It was busy, which is always a good sign. Then I looked up at the ceiling--and that's when it clicks why they call it the Railroad Restaurant. Model trains run on tracks overhead and actually deliver your food directly to your table. For the kids, this wasn't just dinner--it was a show. Their eyes followed the train the entire way until it stopped right above us. That moment alone made the visit worthwhile. The food was good, classic American comfort fare done right--burgers, fries, sandwiches--exactly what you want after a full day of walking and exploring. Nothing overly complicated, just satisfying and family-friendly. If you're visiting Kansas City or planning a day at Crown Center with young kids, Fritz's is a must-go. It's more than just a meal--it's part of the experience. Make a full day at Crown Center. Aquarium. Legoland. And cap it off with dinner delivered by train. I would absolutely recommend this place.
