The staff was very friendly and told us how to order, made recommendations, etc. we got a Chicago dog, fries and a soda for $20. It wasn't busy at all and the vibe was very fun. Would definitely come back.

I really appreciate a good chili. I REALLY appreciate a good chili & Matt did his big one with the chili. Let me step back though. My son & I wanted to try a hot dog spot & Ding Dong Dogs came up. The cashier was pretty chill. We later found out that she was new. She was very informative though. You can get your hot dog grilled, fried, off of the roller grilled, or boiled. Also they have gluten free buns and impossible hot dogs so bring your friends with dietary differences. We got several hot dogs and sides. The 50/50 was seasoned well enough that I didn't even need condiments. I really enjoyed the chili though and the mac and cheese. Everything was so delicious. We'll be back.

This is a great little hotdog stand at 51st and Oak Street across the street from UMKC. A friend of mine who works at the university invited me to meet him here for dinner before a show. The staff here is really cool and knowledgeable. Very helpful. I enjoyed the hotdog very much. I tried the Chicago dog, which was pretty good. It did not have the neon relish, but I don't miss the food coloring. The mountaineer was my favorite. It had chili cheese, slaw, jalapeños, and mustard. I would get that one again for sure. Ding Dong Dogs is a real treat. Come support this great local hotdog stand. They have two foosball tables and a ping-pong table inside for the kids plus some games. I'm told it's packed at lunch with college people. Dinner at 5:15 was not too crowded.

I certainly like the concept with multiple styles of dogs sourced locally from quality vendors and served in a casual environment, but there were a few things that kept my Sunday afternoon visit from being a top tier event. Not until after I ordered and was looking more closely at the menu did I see that there are 4 styles of cooking that you can choose from. Odd, never once was I asked at the counter for my preference; it appears that I received grilled...ok. This would have been one of the things that I was going to ask the owner, since he was chatting with both sets of customers while I was there, yet never bothered to inquire how I was doing. I seemed to be the odd man out for thanking customers. I hate feeling less than welcome, especially when driving across town and spending $20+. Where's the beef? My $10 Mountaineer Dog was supposed to come with chili, yet there was about 1/8 of a teaspoon of meat on this sandwich -not exaggerating - just enough to give one bun a tint of brown. Sad. I love me a good Chicago Dog and in my 4 years of living in The Windy City I devoured many of them. The first ingredient of a Chicago Dog is a coating of mustard on the bun and allow the toppings to own the show. This one was drizzled with way too much and was like eating a mustard sandwich. My tater tots were cooked perfectly and they were plentiful for the price. With the UMKC crowd and steps from the soon-to-be streetcar stop, they have a built in customer base, but I'll probably stick to the two gourmet sausage/dog joints in town that I love or just do QT and save a lot of $

Delicious and super cute restaurant. Vegan options were super good. I ordered the impossible dog with bbq mustard, spicy pickle chips, jalapeño and onions. Can't wait to come back.

Honestly one of the best hot dogs I've eaten because of all the toppings and the bun. The tots were so good and crunchy. The hostess was very nice, as I took my food to go. I wish the overall ambiance was a bit better, but it is still a fun space with the games. I'd recommend checking it out!

However, when we made the request, they were happy to come up with a custom "dog" with veggies, black beans and sriracha... it was so great. YUM! It was good and well balanced for a vegetarian. They were friendly, easy to work with and the food was DELISH! We love you Brock Hops!!! Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and our food came out quickly. I ordered a turkey club while my dad got one as well, and unfortunately we both had the same issue. The turkey was on the dry side, and it was sliced much thicker than I personally prefer. I tend to like a thinner deli-style sliced turkey, so it just wasn't my favorite sandwich. My mom ordered one of the salads though, and honestly it looked better than my sandwich. It was loaded with fresh toppings, and she said the ranch was excellent. If I come back, I'd probably skip the sandwich altogether and give one of the salads a try. Overall, I can definitely appreciate what they're going for. The prices are fantastic, honestly unheard of in present day, and that's the main reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 3. It's a true local spot, and I wouldn't mind giving it another chance to try something different from the menu.

But they don't just do pizza, there is an array of sandwiches, burgers, and of course their famous wings (beware of the Death Wings, like, REALLY beware). The kitchen is pretty much right in front of you and pies are getting slung constantly. That Rockin' Red sauce has that rich tomato base and it goes perfectly with that toasted crust flavor that only a pizza oven can provide. Toppings are seemingly anything (I'm a sucker for fresh mozz & meatballs) and while one slice is enough for many, two is just a sweeter spot. Beer on tap flows with local, regional, & known brands. The drink menu is pretty lengthy and beers will rotate with the seasons. If you're unsure on what you want, then your friendly server is very likely going to give you some good options. The whole place seems to be held together by stickers & customer 'art', so it gives Grinders a divey atmosphere but delivers a five-star product. Parking is Crossroads, pricing is reasonable but the value is far more than the price point(s), and there's a reason this place gets national exposure. It's that good. And if weather allows, then eat out back. Underrated KC patio.

We started at the Aquarium and Legoland inside Crown Center--both were a hit. The Aquarium was immersive and beautifully done, and the kids were completely locked in. Legoland was pure excitement--color, creativity, and nonstop energy. By the end of it all, we were hungry. We walked across the street into Crown Center and headed inside the Crown Plaza area looking for Fritz's Railroad Restaurant. The moment we stepped in, it felt like stepping back in time. The space carries an old-world nostalgia--warm, lively, and buzzing with families. It was busy, which is always a good sign. Then I looked up at the ceiling--and that's when it clicks why they call it the Railroad Restaurant. Model trains run on tracks overhead and actually deliver your food directly to your table. For the kids, this wasn't just dinner--it was a show. Their eyes followed the train the entire way until it stopped right above us. That moment alone made the visit worthwhile. The food was good, classic American comfort fare done right--burgers, fries, sandwiches--exactly what you want after a full day of walking and exploring. Nothing overly complicated, just satisfying and family-friendly. If you're visiting Kansas City or planning a day at Crown Center with young kids, Fritz's is a must-go. It's more than just a meal--it's part of the experience. Make a full day at Crown Center. Aquarium. Legoland. And cap it off with dinner delivered by train. I would absolutely recommend this place.

It was so uncomfortable, it added to us cutting our dinner short. Our server did greet us kindly and was quick to refill ice cold water - thank goodness! The staff members we encountered did their jobs, however, there was much they could have done to make the customer experience better too, such as smiling, a friendly greeting (other than our server), and offering solutions for problems. Problems that needed help: - the person delivering our food moved very slowly, didn't greet us or smile, barely audibly spoke the names of our plates as he put them down, and didn't say a word as he turned with a flat face and walked away. I hope he's doing okay. The interaction had a lot of room for improvement. But our orders were basically correct. - food at 5:30pm tasted like it had been hanging out in the kitchen for quite some time, waiting for someone to order it. - Brussel sprouts were hard on the inside and soggy on the outside. How? I'm not sure. - Fries were undercooked and barely seasoned. - And the new "award winning" 2026 Devil In Disguise burger is not worth trying. The description said "deviled eggs, pepper candied bacon, parmesan, bread crumbs, dill, chives, onion bun." The hard boiled eggs were tough, not fresh feeling. The "candied bacon" was 3 pieces, each the size of half a postage stamp. Didn't see Parmesan, dill or chives anywhere. They did include a sauce on the bun, like a relish or mayo with pickle chunks, which wasn't in the description. Confusing. Awkward to eat. I've had plenty of restaurant experiences where the food was less than par, but what struck me was the lack of follow-through by our server or anyone else. They just said "oh, I'm sorry" and took the food away. I was surprised at the lack of problem solving such as "can we remake the burger for you with a few changes?" Or "what can we do to make a new burger what you were wanting?" At least a manager to come say, "I'm sorry your orders weren't to your liking, is there anything we can do for you to make it right?" If management reads this review, please remind your daytime staff that presentation (even for kitchen staff serving the orders), food quality, professionalism, problem solving, and customer service matter. We as customers really appreciate those efforts. Thank you for taking the time to read.
