You place your order through the phone, which is a nice touch. They should have a sign that says once you pick up the phone, it's going to take a bit for someone to answer. After we picked up the phone, it took a few minutes for someone to answer. Not a big deal, but we didn't know if the phone was even working. The food is priced really well. I visited Fritz's for a child's birthday party. The train delivering your food is a neat idea. The staff were great. Very friendly and helpful. One even sang happy birthday to the birthday boy. The food though was pretty poor. I ordered the Twin Old fashioned Hamburger and fries. The patties were very small and overcooked, and the fries reminded me of frozen fries my mom would bake in the oven to long when I was a kid. Once we got the fries, we remembered that we usually ordered the onion rings because the fries aren't usually crispy and aren't our favorite, but that was on us. It had been YEARS since I'd been here, but on our first trip back to Crown Center after having our daughter in the midst of COVID we decided it was time for her to have her first Fritzs experience, and I'm so pleased to report that she had a delightful time. Now, my first tip is to go early. We arrived right when they opened around 11 and only waited about 10 minutes, but I've seen the line for this place go way out the door. If you don't have kids with you don't go! This is a place for children and families and it feels that way the entire time. When you enter your kids will be given a paper conductor hat to wear which is super fun and you'll be shown to your table. Once at the table you'll order typical diner fare over a telephone and then wait for your food to arrive via train! Kids always love watching the trains come by and wonder when it will be time for their food to arrive. Could Fritzs be a little cleaner? sure. Could it be a bit less cramped? sure, but overall it's still a very fun place to come with your kids. I was pleasantly surprised by the turkey melt I got. It was actually pretty damn tasty.
