This was a really cool modern place to eat. There's large LED screens with the menus and plenty of pictures of the food spread around to give you an idea of what to order. The workers also knew the menu well and gave recommendations for things to try. I got the Canadian Buffalo waffle with queso fries on the side. I got a chance to go to the mecca of the chicken and waffle craze that came from the west coast, which of course is Roscoe's, back in the 1990's. Having said that, I found the experience to be a bit more on the underwhelming side....I have never found it Waffles to be a food item that I was ever interested in, but their chicken....chef's kiss! I've never been interested in waffles, but these were fantastic. What was not that great was the chicken. I prefer a bone in chicken when it comes to this combo and I would prefer a dark meat. If I'm going to go bad, I'm going to go all in. The chicken here was boneless breast meat and it was fairly dry. While it had great crunch, it was also near tasteless. I really wanted to like this place but at the end of the day, I was only halfway there. The menu is set up into two categories, the namesake of course, Chicken plus a waffle (however, not your Grandma's cakey fluffy waffle instead it's a fun and hip bubble waffle fit for a GenZ'er or there is a basic waffle cone option-definitely not my choice but it does exist) or loaded waffle fries (fun take) that can be topped with chicken for an additional charge. The portions are huge so be aware! Choose one or the other, the loaded fries are definitely a meal in themselves or a shareable snack if you find yourself in Westport walking around with some friends. Now here is where things get fun! All the creative topping options and themed chicken and waffle dishes they've created, all the way from a sweet and savory Canadian version to a spiced Tikka Marsala creation. The different categories are rated by spice level as well but, don't be too afraid I've never gotten one that was hotter than a traditional Buffalo sauce. If spice is not at all what you're looking for don't worry they have a tame take on a Chicken Parmesan for your taste buds. But, do not pass up on the waffle fries option!
