If you want you can wait and have the chef cook you up some veggies fresh, or you can head over to the buffet and get your fill of the classics: Mongolian beef, general tsao's chicken, fried rice, Kung Pao chicken. Even had sushi! Didn't get to try it though. Buffet food can be tricky, it needs to be good, but needs to be able to be kept warm sitting out for awhile as well. Im pretty picky when it comes to buffets and this is the best in anchorage by far!! Veggies were cooked through, not under or over cooked, sauces were not too sweet, and yknow when the meat is over cooked and all you taste is fried sauce? Not here, just the right amount of sauce, meat, and fried yumminess :) If you have a bad experience here I wanna know about it! I can't imagine this place not being awesome. This is my first time here and I always have high hopes for somewhere I've never been. Walked in and smelled the classic Chinese aromas wafting through the air. No greeting, just asked how many. I smiled said hi and said just one and pointed one finger up. Was seated and started to get up to fetch my plates. The decor is outdated, though you can see it might've been nice 20 years ago. The table tops are all different, some wood, some with glass tops & cloth underneath (though the cloths are full of stuck-on lint balls from over usage and stains) and all the walls, salt/pepper shakers/etc & the buffet lines need a good scrub down with Mr. Clean. Unfortunately, the fried rice was crunchy and hard, and the rest were down to the bottom of the 'hot' pans. Sat down to eat but everything was cold. So hard to enjoy when it isn't hot. The flavors were okay and the variety was okay. For it being a lunch buffet I knew it wasn't going to be as great as dinner might've been. But it was still cold. I can see a real difference in how they treat their customers. People of a certain color were greeted nicer, they talked and smiled and returned to their tables repeatedly. She came to my table once to tell me the price difference between lunch & dinner. I said okay and continued to try to eat my cold food. A little later I asked if I can still get a salad and maybe some dessert. Mind you, I asked. She said that I had to finish what was on my plate if I wanted a salad. Then pointed to signs on the wall telling people not to waste their food. Which I didn't notice unless I was looking at it. Maybe that was my problem. And I agree. Nobody likes it when their food isn't eaten or thought of as being wasted. But I left only a few pieces of onion, celery, green beans and crunchy fried rice. With the exception of the 'barbecue' pork, I ate all the meat and as much of everything else on my plates. The pork wasn't what I expected and didn't think it was going to be actual American barbecue sauce and just didn't like it so I ate as much as I can. My plates were piled high because I was very hungry when I came in and I thought I ate quite a bit. Don't know if I'll be back. I had high hopes for this place since I'm always looking for somewhere different to eat out at. The food was decent but there was not a huge variety you would expect from a stir fry place. The dinning area is poorly lit. We had a large group and 2 of the waitresses argued over wether or not chairs from 2 tables could be moved to 1 table to make room for us all. I went to Ding How for a work lunch, and I was very disappointed. The Mongolian BBQ was *extremely* salty, and the other buffet food was barely edible. The restaurant was very dimly lit and seemed quite dirty. Definitely not worth the almost $14 I spent to eat there. This was my first Mongolian BBQ experience and I enjoyed it very much. It's simple and fast. I like how they give you a three choices for sauce and they put it all together. And it doesn't take long to cook which is nice as well. I didn't go to the buffet part but it looked pretty good. Overall I will be going back to get a bowl again. read more

First let me start off by saying that I haven't eaten at many Chinese buffets before. We called ahead to confirm the hours of operation, as today is the 4th of July. They were open until 10pm. We arrived right before 9pm, which was an hour to close. There were a few people in the restaurant. I went with both my husband and sister. There wasn't much food out at the buffet, but we figured they would bring more out. We had a little bit to eat, but when we went for seconds, there was hardly any food. They had already begun taking things back, although there was still 45 minutes until they closed. The only things left out were some salad, a piece of fried chicken, and some noodles. In addition to the lack of food, there was a gentleman who I assumed worked back in the kitchen. He stood with his arms crossed at the buffet, watching us while we ate. It seemed as if everyone just wanted us to leave because they wanted to go home. We decided it was just time to go. The three of us were in and out of the restaurant in 25-30 minutes. My husband expressed his disappointment in the fact that we had been in an hour prior to closing, with very little food. He also said that he did not think the $16 per person buffet price was fair because of the lack of food. The woman at the register first said she could only give us $2 off our almost $50 meal. He explained that he still did not think that was fair because we couldn't even get seconds. The woman, who had my husbands debit card, swiped it and said she'd give our meals to us for the lunch price of $13 each. I am keeping Ding How's at 5 Stars, and I am going to tell you why with this update. I have reviewed many a Chinese Food Take-Out, Delivery, and so-on. I have been becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the Chinese Food, I have been sampling, and ordering. Now Ding How's does not deliver, but they have Food -To-Go for pick-up. Jenn and I decided to try the pick-up service, since we do like the sit down service. I ordered the Family D. Won-Ton Soup, Egg Roll, Fried Shrimp, Bar-B-Q Pork, Almond Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Mongolian Beef, and Pork Fried Rice. I can now cut this short. Ding-How stays at 5 stars. Take-out was great. They use heavy sauce on their dishes which I don't particularly care for. The food also seemed high in sodium content. This place gets very crowded during lunch time. The Lo Mein was greasy and bland, and everything tasted like an average, cheap, Chinese buffet. My father and his beat friend have been devout Ding How customers. They recently started to watch how much they eat. The owners had the nerve to charge them for their food the 1st time like normal, no biggie. But then they didn't clear their plates of all their food and they tried to charge them for wasting food! The staff is so friendly and helpful, and the kids love watching the chef cook their food right in front of them. Miss Chan always greets us at the door with a smile! And not only is the buffet great when you're in the mood for Chinese, but the BBQ option allows for great healthy eating options---uou choose your own ingredients and watch it cooked before your eyes, with only the sauces you choose to have added. There is literally just one row of cooked food, and salad. Very disappointing. Next to the row of food is a section of veggies and proteins (meat etcs). That area is for value customers to prep their own meal and the chefs would cook it for them. Maybe when I think of a buffet, there was always a variety to choose from. But not here. Wow, my wife and I where in Anchorage for a few days and I was craving some Chinese style food with a buffet so could roll my own food selection for dinner. Searched around and found this place across town from where we where staying. Worth the drive! It's a keeper and on our short list for places to eat when we visit Anchorage. The buffet + Mongolian BBQ are not huge but everything is really top quality, not over cooked, over sweat or excessively salty. If you are looking for a huge selection of cheap food including things for the kids like pizza, doughnut holes this is not the place. Seated quickly and we headed to the buffet for our first round. The place was busy but not over crowded at about 7 pm. We eat slow but saw others coming and going with quick service, Place is clean, well lighted, good back ground music not too loud, and interior is pleasing to the eye. Next day on our way out of town drove by and saw the parking lot full for lunch so looks like locals are on too this place. Good value for what we paid. read more

Coming from the lower 48 states, Mongolian BBQs are typically top of the line, give you receipes to follow to make your sauces, have superb ingredients. This one fell flat. It was adeqately priced and the waitstaff was on top of things. INgrediants appeared fresh. There really wasn't any atmosphere to the place. The guy on the wok was a bit unpleasant and burned my stir fry. The sauce he mixed coulda had more spice to it. So so. Im not running back there for a bit. read more

I feel bad leaving a bad review as the staff is always so friendly and kind, but I have to admit the food is just terrible :( I've been here twice, the first time with just my daughter and husband and the second time my husband's coworkers had a lunch gathering here and I was really disappointed when he said that's where we were all meeting for lunch, but I sucked it up and ate a little anyway. The buffet choices are limited and it's just poor quality of food. The Mongolian BBQ is the better option, but I really didn't enjoy it either. Their set-up during COVID-19 caught my eye and another posting showing the egg drop soup, but I was disappointed. I placed the order online and entered my credit card, but when I arrived 1/2 hour later on my drive home they didn't know what I was talking about and had no order. She took my order and ladled out the egg drop soup from the buffet table. I showed her the order confirmation on my phone. The lady said because the paid section of the email was green it wasn't a paid order, but did go in the back and got the owner. No one was speaking English and he just said it says she paid, she paid. I waited in my car while they made the order. The bbq ribs tasted like jerky, my order said no chestnuts and carrots and it was loaded. I hate large vegetables, so just ate the shrimp from my shrimp with lobster sauce combo. The fried rice was heavy on the sesame oil. The egg drop soup I was looking forward to, but it just had the same heavy handed sesame oil flavor as the fried rice. This was my first time ever trying them, and needless to say I won't return. It looks like the trailer in front really isn't being used??? I'll stick with Rice Garden, Oriental Garden, Siam's chicken egg drop soup. read more

If you like fresh, hot Mongolian grill- this place is great! Buffet dishes are superb (sesame chicken is my favorite) and I'm treated like royalty every time i dine here! Went with my buddies after a long hunting trip and they took such great care of us! Took a pretty lady out to dinner the other night and amazing service for both of us as well- waiters/waitresses are attentive & quick to help but don't "check-in" on you every 10 minutes like some other places. On 3.19.22 my family and I dined at Ding How Mongolian barbecue. While Dining there we noticed that the establishment was very dirty, the walls, etc. That should have been our first signal to leave but we did not and proceeded to eat dinner. While eatting dinner my husband noticed that the beef he was eatting did not taste right. He asked me to taste it and I did. I also agreed that it tasted either spoiled or it was actually not beef. My husband very politely told the waitress quietly that he thought something was wrong with the meat. She immediately blew him off and walked away. The dish i was eatting also had a very bad taste(mushrooms). We left. Soon after my husband, my daughter, and myself all started feeling stomach pain, bloat. Etc. The following day we all had extreme diarrhea. I myself had large amounts of vomiting. (Not covid related) I am 100% positive that the illness that occurred is from our dining experience. Talking to coworkers i was shocked by the amounts of others who have also had this experience. I truly think this should be investigated. It is not normal to have several people complain about becoming ill after eatting at an establishment. I do not recommend. read more

The wait staff was really nice in the beginning. My daughter started to throw a toddler tantrum so we tried every trick in the book to calm her. She would not calm so my husband ate quickly then took her out. I unfortunately was not as hungry as he was. I asked for a doggy bag, just for what I had prepared for myself on the grill. She told me no they do not give doggy bag for any reason. I think this is a dumb policy for a restaurant. They will just throw the food out anyways. I love Ding How. We've been going since they were on Huffman Road, before they moved to Muldoon, closer to home. My wife and I go there maybe once every other month or so. I love the place. I find it hilarious that they still have a "Bin Laden, Wanted Dead or Alive" poster behind the register. I love the weird clown on a unicycle up high, behind the bbq food. I love that they have literature for Scientology by the register. I love that they have some book about Van Gogh on top of the beer fridge. Ding How, you are weird, and I love you for it. Top your BBQ bowl with chopped garlic, order the Szechwan sauce extra hot and be glad you did. read more

Came in Happy, left feeling depressed. I am a long time yelp browser, I made an account just to write a review on this particular buffet experience that we had earlier today during lunch time. We have never been to Ding How Mongolian BBQ before so I thought "Hey let's check Yelp and see how they like it here!" We decided to come in after I skimmed through a few 5-4 star reviews. I was truly dissapointed Yelpers. We were half way through our first plates before we even got our drinks. Their cooks were being social to another table right next to us so we had to keep saying "Excuse me" when we had to pass them to get more food and to get back to our table. I never grab fried chicken in any buffets that I've been to, but I had to get them so I could feel full. Their chicken made me sad, literally. It was msg salty. If any of you know what I mean. Even the egg drop soup was the same. Please if you are having a good day don't let them ruin it for you. Their food here is depressing. read more

Food quality has gone down a lot from back when they first opened. With the food quality going down the prices have done up. Was there recently and the buffee food was soggy and not even the right temp. Hope something happens soon to increase the quality quickly or they could lose more customers. read more

I lived in Anchorage back int 2007 and back then this place was so freakin good, it was for sure the best Chinese in Anchorage, plus the mongolian deal is always a nice bonus at any buffet. Fast forward to 2012 when i came back to anchorage for business and i was so excited to go back to my beloved Ding How, i have married since and talked this place up to my wife who accompanied me on my trip to Anchorage, and now she wont trust my restaurant suggestions anymore! The selection was significantly smaller than it used to be, the foor was much less flavorful (and really all just tasted exactly the same) and it did not seem fresh, and the shicken had that way over fried texture to it. Really the only thing i could enjoy here is the one that you make yourself, the good old mongolian BBQ, but if i wanted to pay that much for stir fry i would have gone somewhere else for that too! The price also went way up so that is sad too. The only reason i gave it 3 stars is because i love this place from the past, and i have to give them some love, and probably a second shot once im back in anchorage for a trip. read more
