We ordered from Jimmy's last night and door dash was super fast because Jimmy's was super fast. Let's just say suspiciously fast, I knew when I saw my order already ina a bag with a receipt ready for pickup on the app, within minutes of my order that something was amiss. I ordered the Beef meifun and was not expecting a curry taste. It was okay, but really sub par for his food. The beef was sparse and dry. We also ordered the hot chili wontons, again not what they normally are. This is usually one of our favorites but the sauce was watered down and definitely no heat or barely any chili oil - just a soggy wonton, no flavor. I wish I could give a positive other than fast. Too fast in my opinion and will think twice about going there in the future and especially about ordering.

The food is very tasty, great flavor on the fish, chicken, eggplant and vegetables. All the dishes are excellent. The service is impeccable, pleasantly surprise the staff speaks English, Mandarin and Cantonese. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside is nicely decorated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is clean and comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would recommend this place. Short walking distances from nearby hotels. I would take an Uber ride to this restaurant. I would return again.

Honestly solid Chinese food that I thought I wouldn't be able to find in Anchorage! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Huge interior (got takeout) and the staff was just so friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Would definitely visit again when I come next! FOOD: Fish Soup (8/10): Amazing and so comforting. Fresh Alaskan salmon in some of the tastiest and rich fish broth I've had. Sweet & Sour Pork Spare Ribs (7/10): Really solid authentic version of sweet and sour spare ribs. Feels just like home cooking! Whole Peking Duck (5/10): A bit dry - would skip this one next time. Sauteed Green Beans (8/10): Another solid traditional dish.

Best chirashi bowl in Alaska and it's not even close!!!! Every time I'm in anchorage I get excited to go to Jimmys. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I usually just order for take out but the restaurant itself is cute and will be pretty familiar to people who frequent Asian restaurants.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is excellent and friendly and they always remember I'm the chirashi guy! Highly recommend.

This is the most satisfactory order since I ordered takeaway in Anchorage! I am very satisfied with the exquisiteness of the packaging and the deliciousness of the food! In this way, the economy is real There are really not many merchants in Hui. The dishes are also very fresh, the taste is moderately salty, and the fire is just right.

I was in between appointments and needed to grab a quick lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place needs more lighting and a good deep clean. It felt very dirty and unsanitary.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was OK. Food is just meh. Ordered a roll and the shrimp tempura appetizer. Nothing special about either of them.

    Mmmmm sushi.

I was in Anchorage recently for a business trip, and craving some sushi. Luckily, Jimmy's was practically across the street from my hotel. So I headed over for some dinner. I was originally going to just get takeout, but decided to sit and enjoy my food instead. The place was super busy, especially for a Monday night! (Or, maybe that's how it always is.) I ordered some ahi and hamachi nigiri and a green salad with delicious ginger dressing. It was quite delish! The sushi was fresh and the portions were plentiful. That ginger dressing, though, was like magic. I could probably drink an entire bottle of it! I also ordered some shrimp lo mein to go (they have Chinese food, too!), and enjoyed that later at the hotel. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance here is a little dated, and it definitely had that classic old school vibe. But that is what made it pretty charming![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was fast and friendly, and yes the lo mein was quite tasty, too!

    Pad Thai
    Devon P.

Was very excited to try out a few things here. Ratings are excellent for all dishes. I ordered pad Thai, sesame chicken, pork bun, and gyoza. I felt like I could taste an underlying propane grill flavor in everything through. And the gyoza was incredible until I detected that. I could tell that the dishes were well prepared with care, but I couldn't shake that flavor. Except in the pad Thai...it was soooo good! What a masterpiece. The mix of flavors was expert and the heat was perfect. Note: DoorDash or takeout orders w/sesame chicken, they fire it fresh and send it with your sesame sauce on the side. So you have to put it on the chicken and let it soak in and soften up the chicken/batter. In case you may be a lil confused why your chicken is naked.

Jimmy's is one of our family's new favorite restaurants. It has great ambiance, and something for everyone. They've got great sushi, authentic Chinese and Japanese cuisines and some americanized options for the less adventurous members of your party. Service is always fast and friendly as well, and the server robots are a trip. For all these reasons we decided to have our small wedding reception here. Jimmy's is one of the most popular restaurants in Anchorage, so my son and I had zero luck trying to get them to answer the phone to make arrangements to reserve one of their party rooms. After 3 days of calling, I had to physically go there. It was so easy, and they required no deposit, I was actually a little worried that things would fall through. But when we arrived on Sunday night, it was EXTREMELY busy, and the room was ready for us. They handled our party with ease, despite the chaos in the main dining area. There were a few very minor things forgotten like utensils, but it all little things that were quickly resolved. Food was great. I got the tonkatsu ramen- it was excellent. I love how they flavor the egg. Our party had a wide variety of foods.... raw fish, sushi, bentonite boxes, gyozu, orange chicken, sesame chicken, green curry. No one was brave enough to order from the authentic Chinese menu, even though I advised them the food is amazing. Oh well! Sorry i didn't take pics, too busy being the bride and enjoying the moment.

Overview:  Chinese/Japanese food in Alaska Meal/Time: Early Dinner/430PM, Tuesday night Decor/Atmosphere:2/5  The outside of the building is a bit off putting for me.  Facade is that of Chinese Palace.  Thank goodness the inside is not as cheesy.  The interior is of dark wood and looks a lot more appealing.   Service/ Front of the House: 5/5 greeted and seated quickly.  Good interaction Service/Serving Staff: 5/5 everyone I encountered during my dining were friendly and helpful.  Really friendly. Food: 3/5 Thai Iced Tea $6.  Sweet and it tastes like the way it is supposed to.   Sesame Chicken Dinner Bento Box $25 - I figure this is the best way to try a number of different things without pigging out too much.  The Bento Box comes with 3 pieces of shrimp tempura and 3 veggie tempura (2 pieces of sweet potato and 1 of zucchini); 1 egg roll; 4 pieces of California Roll; and steamed rice. Lets start with what is right: the sesame chicken was breaded and deep fried white meat covered in sweet thick sesame soy sauce.  The chicken is tender and I was relatively happy with the flavor.  The steamed rice was perfectly cooked. OK now for the not so good: the tempura batter is not the traditional light tempura batter... its more heavy.  Maybe some panko to make it more airy.  The tempura sauce is not tempura sauce.  The sauce is way too dark and thick... it taste more like Ponzu sauce. The egg roll wrapper is on the thick side (more like a wonton wrapper) that is deep fried; the veggie stuffing is not bad though... pretty good flavor.   The California Roll is OK, but it was not seasoned sushi rice... more like unflavored long grain rice.  No wasabi on the tray. Value: 4/5 I am taking into consideration that the restaurant is in Alaska. Restroom: 5/5 Men's Room has 1 sink/1 urinal/ 1 toilet.  Really clean and brightly lit.  The towel dispense was broken during my visit, but the restaurant had towels stacked and ready to go. Will I come back? I want to come back with more people so I can try the family style dishes.

I gave Jimmy's another try and I'm glad I did! I tried the chicken pad Thai and wontons in chili oil. Both were pretty good. The pad Thai wasn't my favorite in town, but still good. I poured the leftover chili oil sauce over the pad Thai and it gave the noodles more flavor. The wontons were also good. I think Jimmy's is a solid option for Anchorage, but I'm still waiting for something there to wow me.

Overall 3 Stars…read more Ambiance 3 Stars: Older Asian Buffett restaurant which has been opened for a very long time. The interior has your normal Asian decor with two Chinese soldier statues greeting you and the entrance. The interior of the Buffett is pretty spacious and open and it has two smaller dinning areas for more privacy. Staff: 3 stars Our server greeted us and sat us quickly and asked for our drinks. She had a "hurried" state of mind but had a friendly smile. Good: 2.5 - 3 Stars With Three separate buffet stations for hot and cold items, it had "ok" selection. Nothing extraordinary. Basic limited sushi selection. They sure loved Philly cheese because I counted four different sushi version with it. Hey, it is easy to make, a great filler to the stomach, and is inexpensive. Great for the business but terrible if you want other sushi varieties. The other stations will have your other basic Asian dishes but nothing to say, "Yummy or Wow"! Again the Buffett is great if you want to fill your tummy and spend time with friends or family members. Price: 2.5 Stars We went on a Sunday, the price was a lot more than expected. Over $30-40 per person. Does that seem reasonable? Not in my book, but it has been a while since I've gone to a buffet. Only reasons we went because some of the other members enjoyed it and no one wanted to cook. Which sounds pretty reasonable to me.

As expected, the restaurant was crowded. After thirty minutes, it was hard to find an available table. Food is ordered at a counter, then a waiter takes it to the table. Portions were large. Fried rice tasted just right. It was piled high and I special ordered it without peas. It was prepared correctly. Five stars! Pot stickers were good. 4 stars. For clarity: this rating is off the dim sum and dim sum-type dishes alone. Did not try the baked goods (aside from dan tat) or the rice plates/noodle plates, which seem to make up most of the menu. And the dim sum is... hit or miss. The bok choy is a generous portion, properly cooked, not the most interesting, but not bad. Spicy shrimp won tons are on the small side but tasty, although lacking in the umami that their better-known competitors (especially starting with a "D") begin with. Shu mai (shrimp or chicken, I got shrimp) were the most average/solid of the bunch, which to be fair, is entirely adequate. Har gow looked very pretty, but the skins were too thick, both skins and filling decidedly missing in flavor. The bean curd wrap was giant, super-sized vs. what you'd normally see, and while the bean curd wrap was on-point, the pork filling was pretty plain. This extended to the lo mai gai (sticky rice), which was ENORMOUS, like triple the size of what you'd see at normal dim sum, and similarly plain filling. To their credit, the quality of the stick rice itself was quite good, and the amount of filling was ample. Finally, the dan tat. Crust was a bit too crumbly and lacking in richness of the better ones, and the filling was oddly wrinkled, like it'd cooled too fast. However, the filling quality was good enough. They were busy when I walked in for dinner and were completely full a few minutes later, so much kudos to them-- they clearly are appreciated by the community, and it shows. Some diners at the table next to mine got the usual rice/noodle plates and many left quite full, so portions are good. Kitchen, as busy as they are, is both fast enough and a bit uneven. Short version: you're in Alaska, you can't expect what you get in 415 or 626. However, don't get too carried away either.
